“No! Please Lord Akkio, we will pay! We will pay! Just please leave our daughter alone,” a middle aged man pleaded on hands and knees. “Heh, you may beg all you want, but it will not help you. I told you just like every other worthless farmer in this town that if you do not pay your ‘protection fee’ then I cannot protect you,” Akkio leaned down towards the man with a menacing grin. “Until you pay up I will have to keep your daughter as collateral. If it takes you too long then maybe she will fetch a good price on the black market,” he ended with a chuckle. The young busty female flailed around to rid the grip of Akkio. His strength was much too great for her as she only increased the pressure on her left wrist from his grasp. Despite her agony she continued to struggle as it further agitated the beast of a man. He struck her with a swift slap from his left hand. The power of the strike calmed her down as she teetered on the edge of consciousness. The father shuttered at the violent display while Akkio straightened the girl up and tossed her over his shoulder. “You have four days or else you won’t see your daughter again,” he growled at the feeble farmer. Meanwhile, on Kame Island… “Ka-Me-Ha-Me..” a raspy voice barked. A younger yet still senior individual just across from the voice smirked. “HA!!” A large blue ball of ki moved forward as it swelled one last chance before it blasted off. The beam was large and steady. The recipient crouched down a bit as he lunged towards the attack. His position became engulfed by the bright light and wave. The ground divided just beneath the wave as the power radiated off the beam in a two foot kinetic energy barrier. An abrupt change of direction of the wave surprised the aggressor. It went straight up into the air. That was not the plan. The man’s eyebrows reached for the sky as his attack was deflected elsewhere. Before he could completely react his foe had already made his next move. A single thin beam was seen in a peripheral view. Response time was much too slow as it connected with the left arm of the Kamehameha wave practitioner. The individual pursued the off balanced foe. With a full head of steam he closed the distance quite impressively. Unbeknownst to him, his opponent was already one step ahead as he leaned into off balance side step. His right shoulder made contact with the ground as he then placed both hands next to his head and stuck his tongue out. The right fist of the charging fighter slammed into and through the taunting man’s face. The rest of his body went through the taunting individual’s body immediately after. The after image swirled away as a red flip flop came from his right to make contact with the puncher’s face. He groaned and mumbled after the powerful kick sent him tumbling in a barrel roll over the sand and into the sea water’s edge. A gasp and surprised facial expression came over the spectator on the sideline. “Whoa!” The counter kicking opponent settled to the ground smoothly. His sunglasses glimmered off the high noon sun shine. “Heh, heh, looks like I still got it, ay Turtle?” Master Roshi boasted with a huge smile and a thumb up. “Well, I’d say,” Master Turtle responded in his usual slow, goofy voice. The man still face down in the sea’s edge began to have a few rapid bubbles float up around his head. He groaned underneath the surface of the water as his appendages moved, slowly. His head still under the water as his body picked itself up was similar to that of an ostrich. The senior man whipped his skull out of the salty water and slung the excess out behind him. “…Master Turtle Hermit, you have bested me again today,” Helios smiled from ear to ear. [wc: 673] |

“Well, I used to be the strongest in the world back in my day. Heh, heh,” Master Roshi blushed as he rubbed the back of his head. “Well, Kamesennin I still think you could hold your own if you had to,” Helios responded as Roshi easily exhaled and returned back to his normal skinny physique. “I’m glad you have decided to return even just for a quick spar. Not many of my students that show promise come back all too often. And to top it off your attitude is as naïve as a child at times. That’s not always a bad thing since you’re fairly pure at heart. However, I wish I could say that about all of my students,” Roshi’s pitch lowered as he spoke his last sentence. The concern on his face was very clear to Helios there was something behind his comment. “Unfortunately not all of my students stayed on the path I set them on. Some of them were just too to handle after they left my hands.” “I am sorry to hear, Master Roshi.” “No need to be sorry. This was many years ago. There was nothing you could have done to cause or solve, Akkio.” “Akkio? Was that your student’s name?” “Yes. He was possibly one of my most promising students I have ever taught. He won the World Martial Arts Tournament at the age of ten years old. He had only been under my training for four years by that time. He was very gifted indeed. He showed up out of nowhere from a pair of poor, ill-fated parents. After a few weeks of his arrival his skills multiplied exponentially,” Roshi began to button up his shirt as he briefly paused. The light sea breeze pillowed the bottom of the old martial art master’s shirt. He finished the buttons and pressed his sunglasses up higher on his nose. His arms went to their usual position behind his back, knuckles just a couple inches away from each other. “Don’t get too down on yourself, Master Roshi. Akkio was a very different person than anyone you have trained. Everyone chooses their own path,” Turtle interrupted to brighten the mood. “Yes, Turtle Hermit, Akkio’s decision to take another path was of his own choosing, not your tutelage or lack thereof. There is no need to be somber,” Helios added to Turtle’s comments to lift the mood. “Yes you two are correct but he is probably still out there wreaking havoc on the innocent. His uncontrollable lust for battle and harming people became out of control. Winning the tournament gave him money that at his young age he knew not how to manage it.” “That is a shame, Master. I wish I could lend a hand,” Helios indirectly offered as he walked out of the water onto the small beach front. “Well there is something you could do.” “Oh?” “Yes, he used to reside northwest of the East City, just south of the mountain range there. If you could find him and if he is still up to his evil ways, then maybe you could teach him a lesson. That martial art is used to strengthen the body, mind and spirit, to protect the innocent, not to harm them,” Roshi squared up with Helios. Helios nodded, “I will find Akkio and see if he has changed his ways. If not then I will try my best to speak with him about changing his ways.” [wc: 577 | twc: 1,250] |

A slow eerie noise echoed off of the cave walls. A rhythmic drag and pause of something heavy repeated. The only available light was from the cave opening and a few randomly spaced candles. The female struggled to pull the oval shaped bowl. It was beaten up and black from the dirt and soot that blanketed area. Inside of the heavy bowl-like object were gemstones. All varied in color but consistent with the range of very light to deep red hue. As she hauled the loot she tripped and slammed to the ground. Her clothes were tattered from the exhausting work she had been through. Her beautiful appearance was not the same as it was four days ago when she was originally taken against her will. She sluggishly picked herself up off of the ground to re-grasp the rope attached to the treasure bowl. “Good work my dear; the work has been well appreciated. Now we will travel to town to see if your good-for-nothing father has come up with the money.” “I have moved these gemstones for the past few days. Aren’t these enough for you? They are worth much more than the little bit of money my father owes you,” the female pleaded. “You see, you can never have too much money. When I first came to this area your father and the other people in the town were terrorized by bandits and thieves. I offered my services now they’re gone, and I continue to keep them away.” “Yes but now you have turned into those same bandits and thieves.” “That may be true in your opinion, but if I allow you all to pay me when and whatever you want, then eventually I will be working for free. Or better yet I could leave and allow all of those bandits and thieves back into the area. How would that fair for you and your precious countryside?” Akkio devilishly grinned. “You’re horrible! You should be using your skills for good and to protect the weak, not extort and bully them!” Akkio simply smirked and stood to his feet from his relaxed sitting position on a large vase. He calmly walked towards the woman as she shied away in fear. He quickly extended his right hand towards her as she winced and coward away from his reach. He gave a gentle rub to the side of her face. “It is time to see if your father has fulfilled his end of the contract.” ---------- Helios straightened himself up after a delay of some personal training. His memories of the martial arts and weapons training began to creep back into his memory banks. As he trained he remembered what Master Roshi had spoken to him about his ex-student, Akkio. He saw the distress on his master’s face as he agreed that the teachings should only be used to protect yourself and the innocent. The old man sheathed his katana and simultaneously bowed as he closed his eyes. He stayed silent. A slow breathe drew in and he held it. As he exhaled his eyelids parted ways. He lifted into the air from where he stood and headed off due north-northwest from his tiny island just a bit away from the Kame House. He could not shake the behavior of the accomplished protégé turned rogue. Helios had only hoped that by now the man would have changed his old ways. [wc: 569 | twc: 1,819] |

Gentle winds pushed around the grassy fields at the foot of the mountains. The lake just to the west, rippled back and forth in the early morning chill. The night came and went as the farmer frantically paced about in his home. Today was the day to reunite with his daughter. However, he was not joyous as he still did not have the required purse for the exchange. He sobbed as he paced and the front door echoed a pair of knocks. The old man’s heart sank as he knew it had to be only one person, Akkio. He gathered the money he mustered over the past few days and pocketed it in his pants. He gingerly opened the door. It was indeed the once famed fighter turned extortionist. “Ah, good morning, old man, I have something for sale. Would you like to come outside and see if you like my merchandise?” Akkio sarcastically spoke. He yanked at a chain connected to her wrists with his left arm as she stumbled and yelped. The old man winced to his daughter’s cry as he fully opened the door to lay eyes on her. She was unkempt like never before. She wore the same clothes from a few days ago and they showed much wear. A trail was dug out in the dirt road from the shell she still dragged. This time it was empty. “So, good sir, let’s get down to business,” Akkio changed the pitch of his voice to what seemed like a ring master. “I have two things that might delight you this morning. First, I have the power, stamina and vigilance to protect you and your family from pesky bandits. If that does not suite you then too bad, but I can and will throw in this hard working beautiful lady in for free. Do what you want with her. She doesn’t cook or clean but she can struggle to pull a very heavy turtle shell,” Akkio continued his chastising spectacle. He grinned from ear to ear as he tilted his head slightly. “Uh, Lord Akkio, I just want my daughter back, please give her back,” the old man pleaded. “Well I can and will if you give me what you owe,” Akkio’s voice shifted to a more normal tone. “Now, the easy thing to do is quit stalling and give me the money. I will let her go without harming a hair on her head,” Akkio winked at the old man. “I only have half of the money. I only managed to gather this much after selling farming equipment I will need for the next year’s harvest. Please I beg of you, have mercy on us,” the old man lunged forward and grasped Akkio’s gi top and cried on his knees. “Well old man, I suppose I could give you half of her back. Do you want the top or bottom half? Maybe the left or right side would be good enough.” Just as he finished up his sentence he sensed a presence and near attack. A figure ran at him with a shovel overhead from Akkio’s rear. His eyes slightly closed as he focused and quickly turned to catch a glimpse of the old farmer’s wife. He frowned and side stepped. He grasped the shovel spade as she came by. It halted her forward progress as he yanked the shovel out of her hands. His knee rose as he positioned his foot to shove the woman. She spilled to her right and tumbled some into the dirt. The daughter and father were shocked and gasped as the older woman hit the ground. “That will teach you for trying to not only do bad business but turn on your protector. The deal is off. I will keep your daughter, and I will kill you, old man.” [wc: 639 | twc: 2,458] |

As Akkio raised his right hand to strike the old man a screech erupted out of the daughter. She leaped at Akkio to tackle him. It was not much of an attempt with their physical size different but his balance was shifted enough. In the delay she tussled with the man and tried to fight back. The old farmer just froze in awe as his daughter came to his rescue. However, the quick outburst was shortly lived as Akkio shrugged the female off and gave an uppercut to her belly. Her abdomen wrapped around his fist as she lost the air the in her lungs. She crumbled to the ground as she passed out. The scene was not good as both the mother and daughter were lying on the ground in an undesirable state, and the father coward down in front. “Ah, you see what you made me do, old man? I did not come here to cause any physical harm on you or your family. I just simply wanted my fair cut that you owe. Now you have seen your family suffer. It saddens me but it had to be done. Now it’s—“ Before he could finish Akkio was abruptly hurled backwards. The only sound was a muffled word, clanging from three chain links , and the groan Akkio let out as he hit the ground fifty feet away. The old man had his eyes closed as he only heard silence and a distant rack of the earth. With his forearms over his face he opened his eye and hesitantly moved his arms. He saw the back of a white haired man in grey with gold highlights. A sword on his right hip gently swayed. “Old man, are you alright?” the newcomer spoke. “Uh, y-y-yes, I think so.” Helios peered back at him over his own shoulder and then off towards the older woman. He sensed life in the old lady and altered his visual focus to the young woman. “Hm. She seems to just be unconscious,” Helios thought to himself. “Wh-who are you?” “My name is Helios Ryuad Rune Sirat. I have come here to find an ex-student of my master. His name is Akkio, do you know where I can find him?” “Uh, yes, that man you hit was him,” the farmer’s voice crackled as he answered. “Oh was it. Well it seems I have come to see if he has changed his ways, and from the looks of things he has not,” Helios turned to look at the farmer. “Take your family and go somewhere safe.” The farmer nodded and started with his wife and moved to his daughter. Off in the distance Akkio grumbled as he got to his feet. “What power. What or who hit me?” Akkio questioned out loud as he rubbed his jaw. His vision was hazy and changed back and forth until it finally cleared up. He spotted the older looking man back at the spot where he once stood. “HEY!! IS THAT ANY WAY TO TREAT SOMEONE?!” Akkio bellowed. “To sucker-punch someone like that. How rude and unsportsmanlike. Looks like I’ll need to teach you a lesson,” Akkio spoke in calmly yet not loud enough for his new foe to hear. “Say, what’s your business here?!” “I have come here under Kamesennin’s wishes to check up on.” “Ah! That old bastard wants me baby-sat, huh. Well I’m alive and well so you may go back.” “I am afraid I cannot do so. I witnessed the maltreatment of the family here as I surveyed the town from above. Kamesennin wishes me to positively change your ways. He is displeased with your behavior after leaving his tutelage.” “Displeased? Hm! How about after I change your ways, negatively, I will pay a visit to Sensei Roshi myself,” Akkio grinned and leaped towards Helios. A quick power scan showed Akkio at a power level of nine thousand three hundred and forty. Helios knew he was more than strong enough to take down his foe if things got out of hand. As he postured to receive an attack, Helios double checked the whereabouts of the small family. They were held up in their house just behind him which was not as far as he would have liked. Akkio came in with a pulled back right hand. It shot out faster than expected as he grazed the whiskers on the right side of his face. Helios circled his right hand down, left and up as he grasped Akkio’s right wrist. His left hand flew in right behind it as it landed on just below his tricep. Helios whipped his hips right as he tossed Akkio with his own momentum up and over the house. The toss was forceful as the man flew through the air like a torpedo. The senior looking man took flight after him and sped by. Akkio snarled and regained his footing in the air. His limbs stretch out in separate directions to halt his ascent. Helios in front of his position calmly turned his back to face his opponent. “Akkio, I have not come here to fight you or harm you. I wish to do this peacefully as to change your views on how you should use your martial arts to protect others.”[/cololr] “Protect others? Ha! That’s funny to hear. Martial arts are taught for self-defense and I am defending myself from being weak like everyone else. I see the money as a bonus and maybe you forgot things cost money.” “I do not have many memories past a few months ago, but I know my happiest moments so far have been when I have helped someone.” “Oh, spare me the good guy speech. Can you honestly say you do not enjoy hand to hand combat? You have a sword attached to your hip and you are trying to convince me that should protect others who choose not to seek martial art knowledge? That old man can say that because he is rotting on that tiny island of his. No one in danger to save and protect while he sleeps, eats and reads pervy magazines all day. What a hypocrite! Why isn’t he out saving and protecting?” “Master Roshi is an old—“ “Master Roshi is an old man, yeah yeah, who cares?! He used to be the strongest on the planet. I did not see him protecting people then either.” “All of that may be true, I do not know. What I ask of you today is to cease your evil ways against the weak and use them for good. You will earn more friends and money that way.” “Friends? Pfft!” “How about this, you and I duel here and now. If my martial art beats you then you will protect these people properly. If you win then I will join you as your student.” “Haha, that is it? You might as well get ready to scrub my turtle shell,” Akkio motioned back with his thumb. “It’s gotten dirty over the years.” Helios’ eyes narrowed as he lowered himself to the ground. Akkio followed suite as they both landed in the field just behind the old man’s house. The ground was dark brown and very soft. The rows of crops were lined up perfectly. The same gentle wind breezed by as the men faced off. The first move was Akkio again as he came in with the same pulled back right hand. This time around he threw a feint and forward barrel rolled into an ax kick from his left leg. Helios overhead blocked with both arms crossed as the immediate contact re-routed Akkio back the opposite way for a right handed fist. Helios again snatched the right wrist of his opponent and changed his pull to the side and straight into the ground. Akkio would not be outmatched as he grasped the wrist of his aggressor and forward rolled into a reversal. This caught Helios off guard as he was up rooted from his strong stance. Feet to the sky he continued his path of rotation as Akkio tossed Helios away. His posture was low to the ground as he stumbled forward a bit from too much momentum. He gathered his feet and hopped up and forward off the ground no more than three inches. “Kamehameha!” Face down and parallel to the ground, Helios did not have much reaction time as he let out a yell. The explosion forced him back further as his hands and feet clenched the ground. Four lines were carved into the soft dirt as his body came to a halt. Unbeknownst to Akkio, Helios was back to his feet and through the cloud of smoke. A surprised Akkio caught a head-butt to the brow. He winced and few back. Helios gripped his opponent’s foot before he got out of range and yanked him in. A clothesline finished the assault and he was bent crotch over chest in the dirt. Helios slapped his legs flat to the ground as he pummeled him in the abdomen. The punches came fast and furious one after the other. The power slowly increased with each strike. He finished and saw Akkio spit a bit of blood. “I am sorry I had to be so tough on you, but this was the only way. You will cease your evil ways and protect these people. That is what martial art is for, Akkio.” [wc: 1,572 | twc: 4,030] |
