Bardock's armor, made of a steely flexweave, itched. It offered him unparalleled protection against blasts, concussive force, and weapon strikes. It also itched in the most obnoxious, blatant fashion that he couldn't ignore. A single bead of sweat rolled down the side of his face while he and Governor Varigon made their way across the hallway of the New Oceania's Grand Palace. The Island's ruling class, led by the veritably famous Governor Varigon himself, typically used the island's naturally muggy heat to overwhelm would-be negotiators.

Bardock, sent to negotiate the terms of New Oceania's inclusion within the confines of the Earth Defense Force's perimeter, was not particularly pleased by his opponent's attempt at playing hardball. Planet Vegeta was a nearly uninhabitable desert planet, something that Varigon was obviously unaware of. Bardock decided to make no comment on it while they proceeded through the palace and into the Gubernatorial Chamber.

Structured like a massive throne room, the Gubernatorial Chamber stretched out for at least a quarter mile both horizontally and vertically. Bardock's eyes scanned the banners lining the walls and hovered over the throne at the other side of the chamber, but he said nothing about the room's design. His distaste for all of the flourishes of human power did not need to be evident.

"King Vegeta has sent you himself, has he?"

Bardock's gaze jumped to Varigon's face and bore holes through the man's cheekbones. Vegeta hadn't sent him to do anything. He'd been sent by command to ensure that the entirety of the Earth was joining up with the Earth Defense Force. There was no point in letting the humans govern themselves if they couldn't do it properly.

"No," he said, voice full of potent venom. Varigon was lucky that Bardock, despite the fact that he was both gruff and insensitive, was not the most volatile Saiyan out there. Gerkin would've hoisted Varigon up by his bootstraps for bringing the King's name up in such a shitty place. Some Saiyans, typically Elites, were fanatics. "I didn't come here to talk about the Saiyan Empire."

The two men came to a halt at the base of the throne and glanced up at it, neither one committed to the conversation. Bardock risked a glance at Varigon out of the corners of his eyes and found him studying the suit of armor that covered his chest and hips. Unlike his typical green and black set, the suit he found himself in was a sleek gold and carbon. It was the default battle suit, minus the short sleeved jumpsuit he wore.

"I'm here to make sure that you're joining up with the EDF. I don't care about anything else."

Varigon frowned and steepled his fingers together over the folds of his armani suit, clearly disgruntled by the Saiyan's lack of importance. Bardock was not a particularly high ranking warrior, despite his strength. He was one of the strongest fighters in any vanguard. Only Vegeta, a Saiyan named Chishan, and Earth's overlord (a female named Maragi? Maragai?) were stronger than he was.

In the distance, a deep rumble shook the foundations of the island. A plume of violently unfurling smoke rose into the sky like a banner of courage, prompting the Governor's frown to deepen into a canyon of disappointment. Bardock turned to look out the window as the sound of footsteps approached from the other side of the throne room.

"Sir, we... We believe there's an uprising," Bardock overheard. "We uh... we had the intel already, but they attacked before we could get to you, apparently. What do we do?"

Bardock didn't look back at them while the two men bickered, vaguely aware that he wasn't supposed to be hearing their whispered conversation. The geyser of smoke drained off into the clouds as the sound of other, more deafening explosions shook the island. He could vaguely hear screaming in the distance.

"You don't do anything," he said, suddenly enveloped in a cloak of azure fire. "I'll handle your problem. Then you're going to listen to what I have to say. If you don't, a few rebels with explosives will be the last fucking thing you have to worry about."

Bardock blasted out the window before Varigon could muster up a response, headed toward the source of the most recent explosion.

“HAA--!!”

A barbaric scream tore from Goku’s throat as he thrust his cupped hands forward and released the limited restraint he had over the mass of charged energy imprisoned between his fingers. The brilliant beam, as blue as the summer sky overhead, immediately surged forth over the ocean waters like a laser beam without obstacle. The raw power radiating off of the empowered attack was enough to force the water away on both sides of the beam and split the ocean into two, down to the very sand that defined the ocean bed. It was a magnificent display to marvel at, if nothing else.

It was a technique he had used countless times before in his many years but the look in Goku’s eyes gave the impression of a little kid coveting a new toy for the first time. In reality, it was like he was employing the ability for the first time, if one took into consideration that he had no recollection of his past prior to a few weeks ago.

“Not bad, not bad. I’ve seen you do better but—all in all—not bad,” said Master Roshi from behind the pages of one of his magazines. Yes, one of those magazines. One of the new recruits had just dropped off a fat stack of new issues for the month and the dirty old hermit was absolutely enthralled.

The Kamehameha wave started to shrink in size dramatically as Goku’s output of energy waned. Soon enough, the ki dissipated back into the world around them and the two halves of the ocean crashed together into one. The tight embrace of Goku’s cupped hands loosened before ultimately separating, leaving the orange gi wearing warrior to turn away from the ocean with a light smile. He was pleased with the progress of his training—or retraining, rather.

“Geez, Master Roshi. You weren’t even looking,” Goku commented. His smile immediately turned into a look of half-hearted disappointment.

“I didn’t need to look. I could feel it, my boy. It was ehhhhhh—WOW, LOOK AT THOSE!”

Roshi’s glasses nearly shot off of his face when his eyes bulged. He tried to quickly flip the magazine around to show Goku but in doing so, frantically threw the magazine into the ocean. Scrambling out of his laid out deck chair, his feet failed to function properly in the ever changing surface of the sand and he ended up falling face first into the beach.

Goku only stood there and watched the debacle with arms tightly crossed over his chest. He didn’t know what he was like before or how he responded to Master Roshi’s training the first time around but right now, in this moment, he was upset with how casual things were around the Kame House. When training, he expected hard work, discipline and focused attention—not childish shenanigans and girly magazines. He wanted to know where he was excelling and where he was failing, where to improve and how to do it. He felt like he was the only around here concentrating on bettering themselves through preparation and exercise.

Master Roshi was unacceptable.

“Wha-what are you doing?! You could have easily saved that poor girl from drowning? What kind of monster are you?!” Roshi blurted out; his elderly, exasperated voice whining without a sense of sarcasm. He really treasured those nudie magazines.

Goku could feel this uncomfortable little pressure climbing between his shoulder blades along the length of his spine. It was hard to describe exactly what it was but the awkward knot made him curl back his shoulders around it as it rode up to the back of his neck to reside at the base of his skull. Whatever it was, it was directly tied to the annoyance instilled in him by Roshi’s half assed antics. The indelicate sound of beating drums filled his ears, pounding in time with the thrum of his pulse and drowning out everything else. He twisted his head to the side, subsequently wrenching his neck in an attempt to physically fend off the fury gaining traction in the back of his head.

“Enough!” He bellowed. A hand was promptly raised to ward Roshi off as he continued closer. Goku didn’t know what he would regularly do in a circumstance like this but his current inclination was resolving his annoyance with violence.

“Listen. You say you know me, but I don’t know you. You say this is exactly how we trained when I was younger but let’s get this straight; this isn’t working for me. I came to this island in the hope that I would get my memories back by training with the great Master Roshi. You regale me with tales of all the things we’ve done together but none of it clicks. For all I know, you are some two-bit con artist who gets his kicks tricking gullible students into doing all his house work. You call me “Goku” yet the name sounds foreign to my ears.”

The longer Goku talked, the more he started to wind down. In the end, after his full blown speech, the only thing he was feeling was frustrated.

“Hmmm,” Roshi hummed as he assessed the situation. He shot Goku a hard stare through the opaque black of his sunglasses, almost as if he were expertly analyzing the man. “Well, I’m not lying when I call you Goku. That is the name you gave me when you first started training here as a young boy and as far as my claim to be a Master of Martial Arts, I have a couple of other students who can vouch for me. You’ve been away for a while, Goku, but nothing has changed, my boy.”

“Well, maybe I have changed,” Goku said sternly; coldly.

“Maybe you have,” Roshi replied just as warmly.

Goku could break his neck, he could feel it. He could reach out and grab the scrawny old man by his twig like neck and break it into a million pieces before he could even react. He wasn’t even sure the act would trigger emotionally within him.

He swallowed hard just thinking about it and did his best to repress the urge.

“I’m—I’m sorry. I need a break to clear my head. We’ll pick up where we left off tomorrow. I hope, together, we can come up with a new way to handle my training, Master Roshi.”

“Don’t worry about it, my boy. We’ll get you through this,” Roshi said as he closed the gap between him and his empty headed student. Gently, he reached up and placed his hand on Goku’s shoulder, giving him a firm squeeze before he backed away. At a distance, he crossed his arms behind his back and stared at the forgetful warrior.

Goku sighed and nodded. Mimicking Roshi, he took a few steps back and nodded, only to leap into the air and blast off in a direction leading away from the island. With the Kame House at his back, he headed in the direction of New Oceania.

Although, he wasn’t yet close enough to see it, there was smoke and dust congregating in the air over the city. There was rebellion brewing.

Bardock came to a halt in the sky at border of Isla Padre, the outermost city on New Oceania. A massive geyser of black smoke billowed out into the sky and polluted the clouds. He scanned the pillar of darkness with his eyes and watched it fade away. Meanwhile, his fingertips brushed against the rim of his scouter and activated the scan function. A number of small power levels formed a pyramid on the display screen, from weakest to strongest, while he surveyed the situation from the air.

The first row was all fives and sixes, and quickly faded away when a row of tens and twelves (probably police) replaced them. Another row of twenties and thirties shot out into the forefront of the scouter's display next, prompting Bardock to look more closely at the ground below. He'd been in the middle of his descent into the city when his scouter suddenly went haywire, beeping and screeching like some kind of metal bird.

Bardock glanced at the screen before looking up, suddenly alert and awake. In the peripheries of his vision, a lone figure towered over the other, lower numbers. It was approaching somewhere on the horizon at a rapid speed, but even with his zoom function active, Bardock couldn't see it yet. Below him, a rebellion was in full swing -- and in front of him, a man with the strength of a God drew his ire.

For a fraction of a second, he considered leaving his mission for later. It wasn't like the rebellion swallowing up New Oceania would end in a single day, after all. An instant later, his sanity overcame his desire; the rebellion wouldn't end in a day, but the odds were strong that the target in his scouter was heading his way anyway. It was probably some kind of heroic defender, determined to save the island before it was enveloped by the flames.

Bardock plunged into the depths of chaos a second later, still wrapped up in a blanket of blue fire that crackled as his boots touched down against shattered concrete. Men and women streamed by him on all sides, some carrying loot gathered from nearby stores and others just running from the fire.

He reached out and grabbed a man in red and black camouflage before he got the chance to bolt off after some of the looters, plucking him out of the crowd at complete random. The man wore a set of what Bardock assumed to be human battle armor, minus the helmet, and looked like he knew what he was doing.

"What's going on here?" the Saiyan barked out.

"There-- wait, dude, are you fucking insane? Let me go!"

The guy swiped at Bardock's hand, but the Saiyan's grip didn't falter. He tried one more time, with both hands, before realizing that his efforts were pointless. Bardock had him by the front of his gear; maybe if he ripped it, he could escape. Unfortunately, something told him that just running away wouldn't have been enough. He squirmed beneath the Saiyan's gaze and coughed up a quick answer, ready to be let go.

"Shit's going down, man. The whole city's going up in flames and all the comms say there's a rebellion that's spreading across the whole island. I'm just trying to get out of here while I can," he said. "Can you let me go now?!"

The man glanced around frantically, obviously concerned, and reached for Bardock's arm. Bardock didn't blink, but his gaze did narrow.

"What part of the island is next?" Bardock growled. "Tell me now, and maybe I'll let you go. Make me wait and I'll be taking you with me."

"Alright, okay! We've been hearing reports of suspicious movement outside the Isla Verde city limits, about five miles South of here. If you get there fast, you could maybe stop whatever's going on. Maybe."

Bardock was gone before the stranger hit the ground, having blasted off into the sky already. A trail of phosphorescent blue light followed after him as he spun and barreled through the air, his fingertips frantically pressing a button on the top left of his scouter's ridge. Within minutes, he was on the edge of Isla Verde, where the streets were completely empty. He dropped down into the city's center in silence, his eyes on a swivel.

The first question that crossed his mind was the obvious one: where were all the humans? The second question that came up was the natural follow up, of course. Why were they all gone? Did they know about the bombing about to happen? Jaw set like a boulder in the Earth, Bardock strode across the street he'd landed on while his scouter scanned the area for any foreign explosives or high powers.

Like before, the six digit power level remained in the back of his mind and in the forefront of his scouter's screen. Bardock tried to ignore it as he prowled down the street. Energy continued to flow from his every pore as he approached what he figured to be the city's "town hall."

"If I had to put a bomb somewhere important," he grumbled.

"I'd put it --"

The world before him was raptured by fire and smoke before he could finish his sentence. A cloud of death and smog exploded against his chest and face, knocking him to the ground and onto his back. He rolled instinctively onto his shoulders and popped up onto his feet, shielding his exposed eye from the heat and debris. A rain of smoldering marble cascaded down upon the street and crashed into nearby buildings.

There hadn't been anyone there to detonate the bombs. That meant they were remote detonated... but most explosives still had an effective trigger range. The thought'd barely broken into his head when his scouter picked up on another, altogether weaker signature about a mile away. Bardock turned to pursue it when a strange feeling overtook him, and he stopped. That other power level, the one from earlier, asserted its dominance over his scouter for the third time.

There was something about that strength that seemed daunting, like it were a challenge for him to investigate.

And it was closing in on him.

Goku’s mind was entirely elsewhere as he continued flying toward his undetermined destination. He exhaled a deep breath through pursed lips as he rotated and rolled in midflight, trying to let off as much steam as he could before the anger he harbored devoured him up. The sky was liberating to him. A couple of weeks ago, he didn’t even realize he could fly but now that he was back at it, it felt as natural as breathing. However, that only seemed to prove that it was possible he was forgetting many things—important things—about himself.

At times, he was afraid of what he might remember.

THUUUUUUM!

The sound of an explosion tearing apart a nearby coastal city broke Goku’s concentration. He didn’t see the explosion as it was occurring but he certainly beheld the aftermath that remained in its place. Fire spread in all directions as the forceful detonation shredded buildings and landmarks with ease, spitting rock and steel by the ton anywhere but where it belonged. The explosion carried with it a turbulent rush of air that expanded from the epicenter the moment the bomb went off, overturning cars and whatever else wasn’t bolted to the concrete. That same squall, a hot breath of disaster, took Goku into its chaotic embrace as it surged outward and over the ocean.

“Whoa! What the?!”

Goku tumbled as he momentarily fought with the unyielding wind but faced the city once he regained superiority. Without any hesitation beyond what was out of his control, he blasted off in the direction of the mess of raging fire and suffocating smoke. As he neared, he focused in on the area with his senses, trying to root out any stragglers that didn’t get out of the blast zone. Goku could feel his energy extending out to the area but he wasn’t strong enough to maintain the search—it was still one of the many techniques he was still practicing.

As soon as he entered the portrait of terroristic violence that was once Isla Verde, Goku dropped from the sky with all the grace of a rock. The already fragmented ground was crushed underneath the force of his impact upon landing, which he did so on a fist and a knee. He quickly rose from his kneeling position and surveyed the area up close. It was absolutely terrible. His thick, black hair was constantly waving from the winds of stoked flames, which flailed around wildly due to the fresh air coming inland off of the nearby ocean. Smoke clouded his eyes and blackened his skin while the dull roar of the angry fires filled his ears.

“Hello?!” he called out, his hands cupped around his mouth to amplify his voice. “Is anyone there?! Is everyone all right?!”

Only the sounds of a building crumbling behind him came in response which led Goku to believe that there were either no survivors or there were no casualties to be had in the first place.

“Anyone?! I’m here to help!”

A boulder made of flesh and bone crashed into the concrete at the center of the city, throwing up a second cloud of debris that carved tracers through the smoky veil and fell back to Earth like rain. Bits of rubble cracked against the ground around Bardock and shattered, but he paid them no heed as he stepped free of the smog and out into the open street. A lone figure stood over the wreckage of Isla Verde's plaza, his head held high and his body wrapped in an orange shawl that Bardock didn't recognize. A shock of inky black hair rocked out from behind the man's face, which, to Bardock, looked vaguely familiar.

Bardock stared at the man's face through the unfurling blanket of smoke, his eyes narrowed. The man's voice, which rose out over the sound of crackling flames, wasn't familiar. It was something in his face, hidden behind his eyes and deep within his veins. Bardock strode out from behind the tide of rippling black and squared his shoulders, staring the new man down with a kind of frustrated curiosity.

Dark hair, a strong jaw, and a power that no human could match. The man before him was undeniably a Saiyan, but he dressed himself in Earth garb and carried himself like some kind of savior. Saiyans, by nature, were somewhat indifferent to the plight of others. There were some with soft hearts, tempered by the steel of transformation and time, but Bardock was not one of them. The people of New Oceania were the bystanders in a job that he'd been tasked with.

A name, like the echoes of a gunshot, rumbled around in the back of Bardock's head. All at once, the man's familiar face and build made sense to him, as the name once again shot to the forefront of his consciousness for the first time in years.

"Kakarot," he mumbled, suddenly aware that he was staring at a man that resembled his would-be son. How old was Kakarot when he was frozen? Bardock tugged at the strings of his memory and fought to remember, but nothing came to mind. He didn't even remember if he'd seen his son before being shipped off to Baringer, but there was an undeniable resemblance in the stranger before him that he couldn't unsee.

"You."

Bardock's fists clenched at his sides, embroidered by veins of glittering blue light. The dull glow of orange flames flickered in the background behind him, painting a supernatural contrast of colors that wound together in his son's path. "What's your name?"

A barrage of memories and words assaulted the walls of Bardock's brain while he considered the man before him, weighing him as best he could. Gine had come to Earth looking for Kakarot. Was it possible that she'd been on the right track? Was it... was he supposed to care about finding his son? He was, vaguely, aware that his other boy, Raditz, was still alive and fighting somewhere.

There were many distractions surrounding him but none that indicated that anyone was in trouble. In the middle of that street, he whirled about to face any noise that called to his attention whether it was a residual explosion from something bursting into flames, the wall of a nearby building crumbling to its foundation, or a man stepping out into the open and mumbling to himself.

The latter was what held his focus now. From the moment the mystery man stepped out behind him, Goku pivoted on his heel to face the stranger and dropped into a confrontational fighting stance. One open palm held close to his chest while the other extended outward toward the dark haired warrior, his index and middle finger upright while his remaining digits curled into the center of his hand. Behind the protection of his raised hand, he took the time to stare at the unknown companion who just seemed to have manifested right out of smoke itself.

A single brow rose after a moment of seriously looking at the man. His face, his hair—it was like looking in a mirror. An old, weathered mirror but the similarities were uncanny.

“You,” he said. “What’s your name?”

His name? Well, that was a good question. Master Roshi had called him “Goku” but for whatever reason, that particular name didn’t resonate with him. As absent minded as Goku was sometimes, he knew when it was time to be serious. This particular engagement, judging by how the man was staring him down with clenched fists and a burning town as his backdrop, definitely required him to stay sharp.

While he didn’t completely slip out of his stance, he did loosen it a bit so he could look at the man without the obstruction of his readied hand.

“I think the more important question is why do you have my face?”

Goku bobbled his head around, his eyes rolling a little bit as his spoke up, a little embarrassed that he was bringing up the next inquiry.

“You know, and my hair.”

Despite the familiarity, Goku was not comfortable with shedding the thick veil of secrecy surrounding him. “Hey, I lost my memories! I don’t remember anything, so you can totally manipulate me and I wouldn’t even know it!” Roshi had mentioned that there was a stretch in Goku’s timeline that he couldn’t account for. That stretch was a period of years, in fact, starting from when Goku left Earth to when he reappeared without his memories. Just what kind of trouble did he get himself into while he was out among the stars? Was he a part of some kind of cloning experiment?

No, that didn’t feel right. The more logical answer was that this man was also a Saiyan, a member of a race belonging to the Planet Vegeta. The word easily came off of his tongue when he spoke it, like he had known it all his life but he comprehended it like just another word in a foreign language. The Saiyans were known for being proud, strong warriors. No two Saiyans were the same, though the majority of them shared a lust for battle and destruction. Again, this was another thing that Roshi had told him, so he could only take it as truth with a grain of salt.

“What’s going on here? Are you the one who caused all of this?”

“I think the more important question is why do you have my face?”

A single bead of oversized sweat ran down the side of Bardock's face, which grew in size as it crested his cheek. Any thoughts of the man before him being of his bloodline were immediately dismissed. His fists tightened at his sides and he straightened in place, immediately on the defensive. He'd been about to fire back when the younger man spoke again, his voice gripped by a little bit more uncertainty than it had been a few seconds ago.

“You know, and my hair.”

Bardock fought the urge to shoot in and hook the guy across the face, all too aware that he didn't have time to play around with the powerful Earthling that'd somehow come before him. He quelled the rage inside of himself and spoke through gritted teeth, practically hissing his reply to the other man's words.

"First off, it's my face, and my hair that you have. Second, I'm not even sure I see the resemblance anymore," he began. Frustrated, Bardock crossed his arms over his chest and turned his gaze to the sky, watching for the next plume of smoke. It would be coming soon, of that he was certain. So far, the detonations were a uniform distance apart. Every six minutes or so, a new explosion rocked the island. Certainly, the next one would be coming by the end of his conversation. "Finally, I don't have shit to do with this."

Bardock wished, beyond wishing, that he'd remembered to bring his cigarettes. Instead, his pockets were empty and he had nothing but the looming threat of combat to alleviate his frustrations. It would've helped him deal with the disappointment that the stranger'd brought with him on the wind. Instead of wasting time deciding whether or not to explain the situation to the man, Bardock went ahead and turned back to face him.

"I'm here on behalf of the Saiyan Empire," he said. "I was supposed to escort this Island's territory into the Earth Defense Force. As soon as I got here, this shit started happening. Places blowing up, explosions every... six minutes or so. Next one should be soon, unless the Governor finds a way to stop it."

The older Saiyan advanced on the stranger, approaching at a slow, leisurely pace. His eyes were still full of unmasked condescension and boiled over by suppressed anger, but he controlled himself well and didn't look like he was about to spring any kind of trap on the man.

"Now, what's your name? If you're going to help me with this, which it looks like you're here to do, I don't want to watch you get stabbed in the chest because I don't know who it is that I'm fucking warning."

There was a lot of information for Goku to process in that brief exchange. The mystery man confirmed that the two of them had a striking resemblance to one another and he seemed as equally shocked as Goku did which led him to believe that it wasn’t a normal thing among Saiyans. Another thing, he did mention that he was a part of the Saiyan Empire, which implied that Master Roshi wasn’t completely full of crap when he said Goku was a member of that particular warrior race.

Wait, so that means I am a Saiyan. So if I’m a Saiyan--and this guy is a Saiyan--and we look like each other, is it possible that we are…?

He wasn’t able to finish his thought before the Saiyan started to approach him. Goku stared at him through a new set of eyes after his quick realization and saw that smoldering ire burning behind his dark glare. Was that anger toward him? Had he expected something more of Goku when he stepped out of the fiery destruction and revealed himself? Maybe if he could explain his situation to the man, he would be able to provide some insight that would help fill in the gaps of his mind.

However, this was not the time. They were literally standing in a warzone, surrounded by a wreath of flames, while other places were being set to explode.

“I’m working on that—but you can call me Goku, for now.”

He didn’t extend his hand in an offer of greeting. He didn’t think the man would take it, anyway.

“You don’t have to worry about me. I’ve been proven to be quite resilient—I recently survived a ship crash, it would seem!”

Goku tried to remain upbeat but for whatever reason, when he was in the presence of this man, it felt like his insides were hardening. He could clearly read that this man had no time for games—it was always business. The scarred cheek, the battle-damaged armor, his grizzled demeanor; this Saiyan had seen the dangers of the Universe. He had seen war. Goku couldn’t help but mirror those sentiments and he did so easily.

Had he, too, seen war?

“You said another explosion should be—“ he started to say but was soon interrupted.

A few miles away, another explosion occurred. The initial plume of raging fire stretching into the sky was the first indication of the newest eruption, followed by the ground quaking beneath their feet and a tremendous, audible boom. Though, this outburst was different than the others. Rather than the detonation expanding outward and overwhelming the nearby buildings, the fire and ash pulled into itself to become a magnificent vortex of flame.

The wrath continued to condense, as if it were being pulled through the inescapable mouth of a black hole, until it was nothing more than a compact ball of fire. It was a sight to look at but Goku couldn’t make heads or tails out of the display. Slowly, the ball turned over and over, doing nothing for long moments on end. It appeared as if that was the end of the show. Had the bomb malfunctioned or was it something else entirely?

The answer came quickly enough as the flame sphere exploded outward again and rapidly took on the form of a humanoid—a thirty foot tall, composed completely of fire, humanoid. Immediately, the elemental monstrosity stretched his arms out wide and roared as if he were a bear waking up from a long hibernation. Its blazing face opened to reveal a mouth of iridescent cobalt flames which tumbled out as its barbaric growl reverberated throughout the entire city.

Goku’s eyes widened as he beheld the burning behemoth. He had never seen anything like it. He was amazed and humbled at the same time.

“That’s a—uh—weird bomb they’ve got there.”

His fists clenched up and his stare hardened. More than likely, this wasn’t an ally of the people and because of that, some instinct inside of him, urged him to go forth and confront it.

Without another word or acknowledgement to his rugged companion, Goku aggressively exploded and rocketed into the air straight toward the monstrosity.
