Elemental Fury Difficulty: Very Hard Description: With all the pollution that has affected the Earth recently due to a large oil mining company, the people have invoked the fury of the elements, summoning 5 elementals of nature that have been angered and want revenge. It is up to you whether you wish to help mankind or not. You only have to convince the elementals not to destroy mankind, but be warned, the elementals are easily angered. Rewards: +1,200 zeni, +7 DP, +2 SP, +100 all stats, +7 Rp Credits Bonus: The advanced technique Flame Shield and +2 alignment if you choose to save the planet. OR Bonus: The advanced technique Ice Blast and -2 alignment if you side with the elementals and destroy the company and its workers. Gine smirked as a bird dropped off a new quest for her and Kiko to go on. The mission was to deal with the crisis between an oil company and some elementals that were terrorizing the company workers. It didn’t specify whether they were supposed to help or hurt the humans, so Gine would just assume that the decision was up to her. Well, it should have been up to Kiko as well, but the Saiyan wouldn’t let this information slip. She couldn't help but grin at the thought of being face to face with an oil company. As a Ki user, she knew she had the ability to choose either path and succeed. She would love to rip the oil ceo’s head off and take it to master Roshi and give him a little taste of what it meant to be evil. She wanted so desperately to show off her power and finally get recognition from the old man. Yet she knew better. She was an Saiyan warrior, thanks to her lineage. She had been given another life here on Earth and it wouldn't be right to return to the past she despised so. "Kiko," she began to interact with her ally with a gentler demeanor. The warrior, quite unsure how to react, was silent for most part, watching her partner keenly and observing her for any signs of inefficiency. "At this point, we should be more careful. This quest is a dangerous one and should not be taken lightly. Be on your guard.” her words were fatherly yet of authority at the same time. She was different than before, Kiko could sense it. While Gine used to harbor a gentle love for humans, she could not sense Gine harboring any such feelings now. She felt she was being more of a burden to her than an ally. Kiko would activate her sense ability which was probably the only reason that Gine even kept her around. The ability of the Earthling to sense around a mile radius using her ki instead of vision had helped her a couple of times already. Without it, she would probably be not blind. But that would also mean she would be normal and of no use. Her life wouldn't be as colorful as the one the curse had given her. Gine would regret nothing of her past, naught of her actions anyway. She would hate and despise all the trials other men had put her up against. She was a fair woman yet she was also someone who had been broken by demeaning circumstances. A love lost, honor shamed, and life destroyed; Gine finds her strength in her purpose. From the corner of her eyes, a figure danced in the middle of the desert. She was a she, Gine would know it. The outlines were far from different from any man's. She could not differentiate any color other than gray, black and white but she could see an exact blueprint of a person afar from that radius. Quickly, she motioned Kiko to stop and stay close to her as the figure cautiously approached them. Kiko followed suit as she readied her sharkskin dagger for any untoward fight that they may receive. “Greetings,” the figure said, and from that voice, Gine could tell she was indeed a woman. That or she was being too feminine for her sake. Kiko observed the newly found figure with caution. The person looked like no other and it was unsure whether this was a boy or a girl just by the tone of the person’s voice. Someone who she had never seen before. He or she was shorter than her, and strange powers she could sense. Her skin tone was what the human could expect from someone who had spent a lot of their time in the desert. Her hair made her wonder if she does wash it or not for it donned the essence of the desert sands. Kiko did not know whether to laugh or frown at this newcomer. She carried herself with authority and anger but she looked no more than a young child looking for love. Kiko sneered at the thought. "Nothing is never what it seems," She heard those words sprung from the mouth of the new person. Gine and Kiko would just assume that this person was a girl because even if he was a dude his voice was so damned feminine. He/she completely lacked any signs of curvature though so either she was just unblessed or skinny was yet to be determined. “I bid you welcome to the desert,” the new girl continued on. Gine now stood her ground on an upright position signifying respect to the other. She looked like she was indeed paying attention under that mask. Deep in her mind, she could think of nothing but the arrogance of the oil worker. And to think, they were the ones who asked to meet the oil CEO for a treaty. Gine was not too pleased at her homeland. It never changed. Still as arrogant and pathetic as the Ki uses. Hate, pity, or sarcasm; Gine did not care how her thoughts would seem. She believed in her thoughts and in her words. She was right and she knew it. She did not need to express herself for the enjoyment of the common folks. The newcomer’s manner of speaking had changed, she was more direct to the point now, and her tone and expression also deviated from what she had earlier. Gine surmised this one was not as pleasant as any other oil worker. Come to think of it, there never is a pleasant oil worker. Kiko raised an eyebrow at her. She's still young yet she poses as someone whose skills are unmatched. What an arrogant little punk. Drawing her hand, Gine met with the oil worker promptly. "I am Gine," she motioned toward Kiko who at moment's notice was beginning to look like she had enough of the other's arrogance. "This is Kiko. I’m an Saiyan obviously and she is a human. We are from master Roshi’s island but yes I have been living in the city. We are heading towards an oil company to settle some business. We trust that the oil titan had informed anyone watching over the deserts of our presence?” “Just a few days ago, my boss had sent a message to me regarding possible destruction of our company," the newcomer said. "Although, if you’re here to destroy oil workers, I can help you. You see I know the key to our research of providing truth to the existence of an underlying group that plots to overthrows the oil titan. I am only surmising such as sufficient evidence is hard to come by.” Gine posed herself as a learned, a truth that was evident enough on the way the newcomer spoke. Kiko almost gave a boisterous laugh. "You want us to kill people is what you’re saying," Kiko could not hold herself back. She was clearly annoyed at the other person in their presence. "Why not just kill you? I don’t want to have to go though all that.” To that, the warrior shook her head as she continued to smile under that mask. Well, this was getting interesting especially since Kiko's face grew askew as she gave a look of annoyance at the oil worker. That’s when Gine would speak. "Follow him or her. " "Are you serious? Go there?" "Yes. That's a direct order. " Across the sands and through the blistering heat, Kiko trudged indignantly toward where she was told the oil worker station was located. She looked absolutely miffed; the sun was not her friend, and she was forced to travel for miles in it, dragging her feet in the sand and garnering unwanted blisters and tans. Sweat prickled down her face, traveling calmly down her black bang and dripping onto the scorching sand to dissipate forevermore. Other than the hood of her jacket, nothing else protected her from the sun's assault. The only thing that gave her comfort were the footsteps that she was following; she had identified them as Gine’s footprints, and her tracking ability had never failed her before. She wondered why Gine ordered her to follow her to the oil worker and herself after the two of them left, and why she referred to herself as "us” She recalled that she was the leader of a group, yet it seemed that she supposed to be their weapon for a while until they initiated her. Out of boredom, she withdrew her sword, admiring its professional design. After she had been exiled from Mt Frypan, this weapon made for her as a gesture of trust after she complained about being left in the dark. It was thicker and heavier than a normal katana, which often threw her opponents off guard; it was just the way she liked it. She supposed that she could follow that man blindly for a little while longer. Kiko put her weapon back in its sheath, making a satisfying metallic noise. How long would it be before she met up with anybody? Though Gine was faster than she was, she definitely wasn't that hard to track, especially through the revealing sands. “Damnit.” Gine said this aloud, seeing as she could see virtually no one. She thought she saw something to her left, but it was probably just a cactus or something. She didn’t even know why she was out here, other than that Kiko told her to. And, she really didn’t have anything better to do than to just train, and that seemed boring at the moment, so she decided to go. Now, she just had to wait for kiko to catch up. She had only left her behind because she wanted to discuss some things with this oil worker but had just ended up being ditched by the idiot. She couldn’t get anywhere by herself, all she knew was that oil worker was supposedly out here somewhere. She sighed. The sun was beating down on her, and she reached up to wipe the sweat off her brow. She glanced up, eyes squinted, looking around, for anything, absolutely anything. Nothing. She sighed. It wasn’t a sigh of annoyance, more of boredom. What the hell was she supposed to do in the middle of a hot desert, other than count how long she was in the heat? She sighed again. She should just start counting. By minutes, not seconds. One. She looked around again. She had been walking at a decently fast pace this whole time, and ahead, she thought she saw something. Maybe it was a cactus, or a person. Didn’t matter. It was something. Gine broke into a run, and immediately started to breathe harder. The heat was getting to her. She wished she had saved a little water, or some food, or anything. Getting closer, she saw that it was a cactus. It was something, at least. Gine walked around it once or twice, and then pulled a weapon out, and cut a small slit into it. Water started to leak out, and Gine took a few sips before moving on, annoyed of the bitter taste. Gine glanced around again. Maybe Kiko would be somewhere. She put the weapon back in its pouch, and continued to walk. As Gine walked next to the girl who was offering her baited help she asked what was in this for her. Gine thought about this for a second, for she knew what she was implying. Then it donned on her, a weak excuse, but still an excuse, "What do you get from helping me. You've already had me sign that contract, which made me your tool. Why would you object to helping me become a better tool? This land holds many secrets, and any one of them could help me immensely. And since I work for you and your boss, what helps me helps you, so in this deed it is not me that you are helping but all of us.” The constant tread through the sand was becoming more and more bearable by the second. That bastard Kiko’s grip over the land was slowly fading, and the signs were everywhere. The sand under her feet seamed cooler after every step she took, and in the shade of the dunes animals could be seen. Trying to find some food before this land became that of the sun one again. She could feel something else change with every step. With every step they were further from any land that Gine knew, and with every step she was more and more reliant on her. The desert was not her land, but it was more familiar to her than anyone she knew. The choice was obvious that without her she was walking straight to her death, but thoughts of there last 'encounter' made her wonder if she was safe even with her. Gine grinned a closed mouth grin as soon as Gine finished her statement and knew that she was indeed clever and she was glad she contracted her but she was not going to let her get away with just saying that "well normally that would indeed work but I never told you I would help you with your tasks and its not in the contract that I would so me helping you to oil worker may help me but it still is something I am doing for free. I could just tell you that I won’t help you and either leave you to die out here or I can order you to go home. ” “I need more information on the oil company but instead I am walking with you. So be somewhat helpful Kiko before I break off our little partnership.” Gine was starting to get serious. Kiko was beginning to come in the way between the mission and the money. If Kiko would be a pain in her side later, it was best to eliminate her right here and now. “Now I hope you have a better answer then you did before 'cause I want to know what I get out of this and I don’t want to hear a repeat of the last answer.” Gine then grinned a full tooth grin as she was enjoying this game she was playing with her, she would not force herself on her like she was going to before but she would still mess with her and maybe even get her to give herself up. Who knows. Gine looked very distraught, for her bluff was shot down. She however wasn't that way for long. Rolling with the verbal punches she continued, "Well you could do any one of those things, and I would be glad to visit any other town. In fact I was planning on visiting everyone I could find, but as of right now we are in the desert and on our way to oil worker, so why not start there. As for payment, you know I hold everything I own on my back, and I doubt you want any of it. And for the physical department," Gine untied the wrapping at the bottom of each leg, and close to a pound of sand fell out, "I have sand in places you don't even know I have, but I would however owe you a favor once we get out of this god forsaken place.” Now stopping to make a point, the now free bottoms of her pants flowed in the wind. Exposing her sand chafed ankles to the rapidly culling desert air. If she was ever going to join a town it was definitely not this one, but it never hurt to look around. Gine began to think but held her grin "a favor eh. Hmmm. deal. but it better be a good one or else. I'll leave it at that.” Gine then stopped grinning as she heard steps and shuffling approaching from the rear "AND WHO MIGHT YOU BE STRANGER. IDENTIFY YOURSELF QUICKLY," Gine reached for her long sword handle "or be cut down a few feet, don’t get too close or I might decide that shuffling is getting on my nerves and fix it myself.” Kiko was just as edgy since she was blind folded and had just visited where she had once died` so she wanted to relieve some stress and this person happened to be unlucky at the time. Someone was traveling again and back on the move. Her adventures were proving to be more difficult than she planned for. Her tired body was dried and dirty from the blowing of sand. She was moved through many sand storms on her way in this desert. She hadn't met these conditions yet but she had made it through snow and made it through that battle so now she must move on through the harsh conditions of the hell in the desert. Her heavy breath was loud and constant making her heart audible from close enough distance. Kiko couldn't see far as her eyes nearly glued shut with sand. She warned deliriously in circles. She was lost and only hoped she would find a town or group of merchants soon. She needed more water she was nearly out and she wasn't up for a fight. Where the hell am I going to find oil worker if it's silent? Oh well. The youth sighed at the idea of wandering through the desert without a clue as to where she was going. She knew where home was, so it wasn't like she was going to get lost or anything, but she didn't really know where oil worker was. The fact that it was silent to just oil worker members made this quest to stop some elemental from killing people in the company seemed kind of stupid. Couldn't they do it themselves? She asked more information on the matter, but she was pushed off because the quest was to get to business as fast as possible. There was no time to explain. How lucky for her that she looked ahead to see a group of people in the distance. Given the fact that they were in the desert, it was weird to see others that wasn't traveling but stopped and seemingly yelling from the sound of it. It was interesting enough that Gine hid herself and slowly made her way toward the group. With her ability to move so quickly, Gine was able to sneak up on the group to get a closer look. Lucky for her, there was a lot of hills and crap around, so she wasn't out in the open for just anyone to see. She looked over the hill and saw two young males and a female. Then Gine heard another voice that screamed of her past. Oh right, it was another moron from Roshi’s place? Gine thought the guy was dead or something. Well it seemed like he was alive and well. Gine kept the fact that he was a chump out of her thoughts. The problem was she was threating a fellow Roshi disciple. The fellow students came to refer to him as Shadow due to his secretive and assassin-esque nature. It didn't matter if Gine didn't very much like that Shadow kid, but he was of the best, so Gine stepped into action. She would seem to appear in front of Shadow out of thin air. In reality, she used a quick burst of her speed combined with a replacement technique to clear the distance in time to stop Kiko before she even tried to attack Shadow. "Well well, if it isn't the loser from back Roshi’s. I thought you were dead. " It was in that moment that she noticed the oil worker was there as well. Well it looked like today was her lucky day after all! Perhaps she could kill him or her for giving them the slip earlier and leading Gine into a deeper part of the god damned desert. "Never mind that, I'll ignore the fact that you just threaten to cut my friend here if you give me that scouter. I'll give it back after my quest is done." Of course, she didn't say that she would end up killing people whenever she gave it back. But who needs to know that? Gine was going to take it either way anyways. It wasn't like she was asking for it. She just wasn't demanding it right away. Through the unforgiving desert, two mysterious figures travel forth to meet their quest. Used to the harshness of the sands they once called home, their silhouettes glide through the newly beckoned sandstorm that seemed to be their guide and veil. Gine and Tigrawr, woman and beast, contradicts the usual persona each don in the midst of common folks. Gine was childlike. A woman who fancies wearing a fake smile to greet her prey, the master of shifting sands has motives ulterior to her what her quest seeks to fulfill. With the golden desert cat by her side, mane from the desert sands and fangs from pain within, Gine was confident as they moved. The serious and noble feline seems to be more of a superior in the pairing. With the human ability for speech, she always keeps the human's actions in check. The sun was calm and, as dry as it was, its rays of pure heat were unrelenting to the misfortune of vagabonds. It was a lone figure in the desert sky, dominant over its vessels and showing no signs of weakness. Without her battle mask put on, Gine made a good view of the surrounding sand dunes. She fixed the bamboo hat that gave sanctuary to her crimson crest. Her one and only sleeve danced with the desert breeze as they walked on. Donning the same fake smile that has been associated with her entire being, Gine looked ready, and pretty confident, to pounce. "Hmmm. Nostalgic isn't it?" Tigrawr growled without looking at the human. She took in the familiar smell that was forever bound to their past. Gine stopped. Tigrawr covered a few inches before following suit. The human bowed her head as a veil of silence dawned upon them. It was dry, cold, and empty. The void of nothingness that suddenly reared its ugly head into the fray was nothing new when Gine gets her mood swings on the way. Turning back to the human, Tigrawr tried to sense for any feelings of hostility. She stepped back only after Gine showed signs of a different persona. "I suggest you hide yourself, Tigrawr. I sense things will go quite interesting from here on in.” The feline had no other option but to follow suit. Donning an obedient aura, she vanished in scattered sands. Gine donned a different persona, one without the fake smile. Rather a frown had replaced it. Serious as she never was, she remained so in the same stationary position until a few seconds later. The fake smile was too powerful to dominate. Off in the opaque distance, Kiko noticed several figures standing together. One of those figures, a blond-haired man, was none other than her uncle again. With renewed vigor, she broke into a jog toward the group, letting the hood of her jacket fall off of her head and onto her back. The sun lapped at her neck and helmet, though she was no longer bothered by the heat after being in it for so long. When she got to a certain distance from the group, she placed life force into her feet, and jumped high into the air. From her angle, she could see the heads of everyone on the ground below; her warrior Leap was a convenient way to scout. She landed several feet behind Uncle, kicking up a puff of sand in her wake. "They sent me to help. You shouldn't be too surprised.” Kiko commented, tying her hair into a helpful knot. She winked playfully, despite the professional atmosphere. Out of curiosity, Kiko took a quick cautionary glance around her. Most of the warriors in the group seemed normal, though there was one face she could have sworn she'd seen before. Squinting, Kiko concentrated on her face, trying to remember where she could have seen her before. She was still suspicious of oil worker, and she had never visited this area before. Thinking it was rude to just stare at the boy, she decided to ask: "Excuse me, do I know you?" Kiko questioned, looking at the boy. From out of the corner of her vision, she spotted a familiar figure that her Uncle had told her about before the other gave her authority over the Human warrior in this quest. The Earth girl. Gine was not far from there, Gine saw it. Maybe a few meters or so as her scouter had told her. Without any other concern sprouting from her experienced mind, she motioned for Kiko's attention. "Kiko, your friend has joined us. Continue going west until you find her. She has taken a drink, be sure to sense the water inside of her.” Gine didn't even face her as she continued to observe and watch for signs of hostility towards the target. With a grudge, a cringe of her nose, and no further verbal assault, Kiko followed suit and started to look for Gine. Though she was becoming heated pertaining to the oil worker and the bossiness of quasi partner, she could do nothing else but obey her. At least for now. This oil worker guy seems too proud and arrogant for her. Minutes into her venture and she finally caught up with the silhouette of the Earth she had such contempt for. Seconds later, she felt herself hiss in anger. She grew hot as she recounted their first meeting. She was at a loss for words. But it was time to turn her focus back to the task at hand. The desert was a harsh place to those who traveled it. If the blistering heat did not kill you, then the unpredictable nature of a sand storm would. Gine sat inside a small cave, as she looked through the visor silent her eyes. All she could see was the raging sands outside. Where did this sand storm come from? It really doesn't matter it will pass, and I can get on my way. Her head rested on the wall of the cave, as she stared at the ceiling. Her hand would reach into the back pouch; she was wearing behind her right hip. Her hand would pull out a piece of fabric, with a metal band on it. The material was a blue color, and the spare part would be used to patch up some damage caused by the sand. The oil worker would recognize it, as some kind of repair kit. Gine removed the scouter from the worker’s head. Carefully folding it, it was placed in her bag. That’s when she took the oil worker’s scouter, and attached it around her head. Hers hadn’t been working in the desert so perhaps this one would server her better. Gine was feeling tired, with the sand storm outside. It would be a perfect time to get some rest. Eventually, Gine strolled into the local headquarters, her eyes half closed and headphones in her ears. She was half asleep, having stayed up a little too late the night before. As she walked past the receptionist, she sleepily rubbed her eyes and let out a yawn. "Good morning, please report to the D company briefing room.” she gave a small nod in response and went on her way through the hallway. Flipping out her passkey, she stopped in front of the fourth door and swiped her card. The door slid open, and she drowsily stepped through. Gine was immediately greeted by a hard clap on the shoulder. "Come on, time for work.” 4667 |

They had made their way to the local Yaid headquarters, but they still needed to go a bit further to find this oil company. The goal of course being to destroy it and help the elementals so that Gine could learn some sweet moves. Gine had been provided with a certain amount of human weaponry to make this quest a little more interesting since using ki blasts all the time was boring as hell. Kiko shoved her a few feet forward, nearly making her trip over a small table. Gine spun around, now awake, to see Kiko standing just to the side of the door, a grin on her face. "Talon and Rook are already here, you're late.” she looked over her shoulder to a clock that hung on the wall. In all actuality, she was eight minutes early, but she knew better than to argue with Kiko. "Well, that makes you late too.” "Nice try, now get in there.” she put her hand back on Gine's shoulder and pushed her toward the door. Kiko took Gine's card and swiped it, opening the door to the briefing room. Inside, Rook was at work with a piece of machinery on the table and Talon was leaning against the far wall. This dude was a tech specialist and the newest member of D company. He had short red hair and was just slightly shorter than Kiko. In addition to his uniform, he had an ammo belt that was slung over his shoulder and several grenades. His weapon of choice was a high powered rifle. Kiko and Gine were the only women serving in the D company which made most situations hella awkward. He had shoulder length white hair and was very thin. He preferred to use two short swords in combat. The four of them made up the 5th squad of D company. As Gine and Kiko walked into the room, Talon looked up and shook her head. A bandage was wrapped around her head, covering one eye. "So you conned someone into letting you use her card? You're lucky that he remembered his.” Gine looked up at Kiko. "You forgot your pass?" Kiko's grin grew and she handed the card back to her. "Yep, you just helped me avoid another lecture.” she took her card back and slipped it into her pocket before she took out her headphones. "So. any idea what we're going to be doing?" Rook clicked something into place on the machine he was messing with and a small blue light lit up. "No clue, boss hasn't been in yet."Shrugging, Gine walked across the room and took a seat in a chair next to Talon. Kiko went over to the table and watched Rook put together what she could only guess to be some sort of explosive. Gine pulled her visor down over her eyes and leaned back in her seat. "Feeling better Sarah?" "No thanks to you and Eric.” There was a sharp beep from the device on the table. "Uh oh. Wait, never mind, I got it.” Gine lifted her visor enough so that she could see out of one eye. The light on the device had turned red for a second before returning to. She shook her head. "Try not to blow us up until after we get our orders.” Rook picked at a tiny lever with a pair of tweezers. "I'll keep that in mind. Aha!" The blue light turned and Rook placed a small case over the device, turning it into a grey box with a timer display on it. She stacked it onto of a pile of three more identical boxes then slid each of them into a different slot on her armor. Gine pulled her visor back up to so that she could see out of both eyes again. "Don't worry Talon, I'll do my best not to blatantly disobey orders this time.” she heard a quiet chuckle to her right. At this time, the door slid open and an imposing man in a First class uniform walked in. She was bald and had a scar running over her right eye. All four of the squad members stood at attention as she moved over to a large chair at the end of the table. "At ease.” Gine and Talon moved over to the table and took their seats on the side opposite from Kiko and Rook. Glare pulled the large chair back and sat down. "All right, everyone is here. lets get down to business.” He picked up a remote off the table and spun his chair around before pressing a button. A screen on the wall behind him let up, showing a detailed map of the world. The image zoomed in on the area around Dawn Town. "Recent reports by our operatives have told of a cavern that opened up in the Rolling Fields after an earthquake. The reports say that there have been a large quantity of monsters prowling about the area, preventing access. Your job is to investigate the area and reduce the monster population if possible. Any questions?" Rook raised his hand. "Any idea why they're wasting thier time by sending us out there?" Glare turned back around to face the table. "As you know, the presence of monsters near such a cave could possibly suggest an oil fountain. Or it might just be a monster nest. For one reason or another, the company seems to think it’s an acceptable risk. Now, if there are no more questions, you leave in a half hour, make sure you're ready.” "Dismissed" Glare pressed a button on the remote, shutting off the screen, before setting it back down on the table. Gine stood up and followed the other three back into the next room, where there were several lockers lined up on the wall. She went to the one that was designated with the number 49 and swiped her pass key while the others did the same. The locker folded open, revealing an equipment rack. Gine pulled out her long sword and slid it into its sheath on her back. She then took her armor and grabbed a clip, feeding it into the slot on the bottom of the weapon. She then attached her strap to it and slung it over her shoulder. She pushed the locker shut and turned towards the others while she waited for them to finish. Talon slid both of his blades into a set of sheaths that were on the left side of his waist and Rook put on his ammo belt and grabbed his weapons as well. Kiko, who had forgotten her card, gave her locker a hard kick and it groaned open. She took out her long sword and a spiked gauntlet, which she slid over her right hand. Once they were ready, the four of them made their way to the elevator, then to the top floor where a helicopter was preparing for flight. After a ten minute wait, during which no one seemed to speak, Gine climbed into the passenger compartment of the helicopter, followed by Talon, Rook, then Kiko. A hum filled the air as the rotors started spinning. A few moments later, the characteristic chopping sound echoed through the cabin as the chopper started to gain altitude. Gine put her headphones in, trying to find something to do on the short journey besides just sit there and watch the scenery pass by, not that there was anything to see in the wasteland created by the oil drain. Her music replaced the relative silence of the cabin. This sort of behavior was normal just before a quest started, each one of them seemed to be mentally preparing themselves for what was going to come. It was the next chapter of her life now. A lot of things could be said about Gine by a lot of people, but the number one thing that could be said about her was that she was tough. She never backed down from a quest, and that she always came back alive, even if it was half dead. It was still a pretty good service record if you considered all of the others who didn’t make it. That list was getting more names by the day. The truth was though Gine lived like she was going to be here the next day, because there was nothing else you could do about it. If you died you died, but if you survived at least you had somewhere to go still. At this point, Gine only had locals to count on. She had eliminated many of her own options at the bequest of her leaders. She was getting better now colder. She was becoming more and more like a killer, and she was enjoying it. It scared her. It scared her so much as she pulled the trigger that she had a smile on her face. That man’s life had ended. She probably didn’t even expect it to end. It could have gone on if not for her. The end. It was time for the next story for Gine. Gine pulled up the blank pages written in her own book. Three days before she had been at the local HQ. She had been staring out a window at one of the oil reactors. The energy seeped from the planet of Earth it was almost like magic. Yaid power company never told anyone about anything. They could afford to so because they held a monopoly on power. They owned everything. They had enough power that they had their own military operations. D was simply a branch of Yaid. She was waiting patiently for her orders. Ever since that ordeal with her father, her old commander had been removed and new Commander had been put in command over her. Even so, she still had a very hard time remembering the fellow’s name. Commander what? That was the most she could ever think up. Commander what’s his face had called her here today, and she couldn’t even remember his name. Maybe she was getting old too? Now that was just Nonsense. “Whenever I seem to have free time at the local HQ, it usually only takes a matter of minutes before the commander gets me a quest. It has happened like that every time thus far.” She figured she had time to spare then. Gine headed back to the Rec. room. It currently hosted two guys playing cards. One was Daniel, and the other was a fellow she had seen, but couldn’t name. “There she is! There’s the whore who shot me!” Daniel said, almost as soon as Gine had entered. “Whaddya here for then cunt?” Their relations had simply gotten worse over the days. The man claimed that she owed him a favor. She wouldn’t have any of that garbage. “Awww look at that. Who wants to get shot again I wonder?” Gine held her gun up to Daniel. “I didn’t even get so much as a demerit for shooting you last time. Wanna see if I’m still lucky?” she asked her. “Don’t that just beat all? She’s got more balls than half the rapists in this place.” Gine raised an eyebrow at her word choice. “Pffft. Well take a load of girly. You win this round. Best 3 out of four though.” she told her. To her this was some kind of game, but to Gine it really sickened her that she always used those degrading terms reserved for women who were down on their luck. Gine understood what it was like to be one of them. Most of those girls didn’t want to be there really. They were desperate. They were oppressed. She let her memories shift over John he had made her day in the Rec. Room. She might have even learned to love that guy. She would always tease her, but she would tease back. This guy, Daniel, was not even a tease. He thought purely with the brain in her pants. You can’t imagine how many men Gine met like that. In fact it was those men that the backroom prostitutes tried to take advantage of. “Never When did I get obsessed with finding Mr. Charming? Ever since I met Kiko I don’t even understand myself at times. How annoying. Well it looks like its getting about time for the messenger girl to show up and order me to report to the commander’s office.” “What? That is totally Cheating!” Daniel was telling the other guy. They got into some kind of argument over the game they were playing. She shook her head. It was obnoxious. They were acting just like children. Big Children. She figured that she would just ignore them until her time came, but that became increasingly difficult. So much for relaxing in the Rec. room. She pulled out the polish and started to polish her weapon. Stroking the weapon softly, it really shined in the light. She smiled to herself at the beauty of such a killing machine. “3rd class saiyan Gine, report to the commander.” There it was. She put her polish kit away and got up immediately, glad to leave a room with two idiots arguing over a game. “On my Way.” She walked around the couches and out the door. The hallway was filled with the typical sights you always saw the other 3rd class saiyans walking around, but you also saw members of the SPEC OPS on rare occasions. Each division of Yaid had their own quests and priorities. Locals used brute force. That’s what they were good at; though if you thought about it, that made Gine oddly misplaced. She was a tactical kind of field unit. She was a sniper. Her job was always to support the front lines with suppressive fire. To take out key people, or hit things that needed to be hit. Most often though she was assigned solo quests where she performed hits on some person or another. She walked into the commander’s Office and reported in. “3rd class saiyan Gine reporting for Duty SIR!” She bellowed. “At ease. Your new assignment: Pretty simple task, a hit has been placed on a monster terrorizing the Eastern Continent. We also have orders to obliterate an oil company that is supposedly the source of this monster. What it is, and any ‘whys’ are classified. You understand? You take that thing out. No questions.” The commander pushed forward a picture of the creature that she was supposed to be hunting. It looked like a part man, part dragon creature. “Yes Sir.” She answered. She was staring straight ahead, no emotion on her face. This was the kind of quest she preferred, the kind that she didn’t have to think on. The kind she wouldn’t spend the rest of the night crying in her bed because she just killed someone she loved. Or cut some connection to her past that had been important to her. All her ties had been cut. Only local was left. “The creature is code named: Crude. You’ll be assigned temporarily to the new D group under command of Daniel.” Gine flinched. “Gawd why do I have to take orders from that loser? Hope he doesn’t pull any of that garbage that she pulled last time I went out on a quest then again Last quest I went on, I went on solo and almost died again. I figure the same thing is going to happen today as well.” “You’ll meet up on the coordinates specified in this document, all information you need to know is in here.” she pushed forward a file. “You will all arrive at the rendezvous location separately at 0700 hours. Take them and go. Dismissed.” Gine saluted again, collected the files that would be needed for the paper work after the quest was over. She then left to go study them at her bunk in the barracks. Here she was now though, three days later at the rendezvous point. Several of the D group had already made their way here, including that other guy whom Daniel had been arguing with back at the HQ. Daniel climbed up over a hill and slid down towards the rest of the team. “Everyone get here without much trouble?” she asked, Gine nodded as did the rest of the team. “Okay, we’re going to fly overhead and drop some bombs on top of the oil company. Everyone okay with that?” Gine nodded. This would make her job so much easier. And that’s what they did! With little difficulty, Gine along with everyone else loaded up into Yaid choppers and flew off into the night. It only took about an hour to reach the oil company where there were gunshots everywhere. The order would be given to drop the bombs and it wasn’t long before the entire oil rig was blown to bits. How simple! However, they still had not taken out the monster, since they got reports a few hours later that the beats was still rampaging around. “Fuck, and here I was trying to kill two birds with one stone.” 2861 7528 |
