I gave a proclamation for everyone to stay inside and lock their doors” The Mayor sighed, he lifted his head to look at Gine, “but somehow there is always a body found in the street the next day.” Cisco nodded his head, “Do you think this thing lives in the city, or it simply uses it as its hunting grounds and lives outside the city limits?” The mayor shook his head defenselessly, “I don’t know, I don’t know, I don’t know. All I do know is that people are showing up dead, and I’m scared I’m going to be next.” Cisco raised his hands in frustration, “Look, I’m not sure how we’re supposed to do anything when we have no clue what we’re dealing with. Why don’t you have someone show us to the latest crime scene? At least this way we can try and figure out what we’re dealing with.” The Mayor nodded, “Alright, alright I’ll make a call, you just wait here.” The Mayor picked up the phone on his desk and quickly dialed some numbers. He had to stop and redo the number twice because his hands kept hitting the wrong buttons. At last he placed the phone to his ear and waited. “Ah yes? Hello? Harked? Okay, Harked, I need you to come down to the Mayor’s office and escort some local to the crime scene. There is only two of them. 3rd class saiyan. I would have felt safer too, but we’ll just have to hope that they do their jobs. ” The Mayor hung up the phone with a resounding click. There was silence now. The mayor looked back and forth between Gine and Cisco and nervously tapped his fingers. “We’ll wait in the lobby.” Gine suggested at last. “Would you? Oh that’d be great.” The mayor sighed, as Gine tugged on Cisco’s arm and pulled him out of the Mayor’s office. Gine waved goodbye to the mayor before closing the door. “What was that about?” Cisco questioned her. “Do I even need to say anything?” Cisco shrugged, “I guess not.” They left and found some seats in the lobby as they waited for the woman called Harked to arrive. After an hour, the doors opened and a man with a hair of pure white entered the Mayor’s office. She eyed Gine and Cisco for a moment before asking, “Are you the locals the mayor sent me here for?” Gine nodded before standing up and going over to meet her. She noted that even with her white hair, Harked seemed to be pretty young. Younger than she was definitely. “Come on Cisco.” She waved for Cisco to follow her. When she didn’t respond she went over and kicked her in the shin. “OW! What was that for?” he questioned, angrily pointing an accusing finger at Gine. “You dozed off, now let’s go.” Cisco looked over at Harked who had just arrived, “Oh. Harked?” Harked nodded patiently. “Right. Lead the way please.” Harked simply turned around and began to walk out the exited. Cisco waved for Gine to follow after her first, Gine on the other hand tilted her head for Cisco to follow behind Harked. “I insist Ladies first.” Gine sighed and stepped through the doors, “I didn’t know you were such a gentleman.” Cisco shook her head, “I’m not really, but I’d rather look at a cute ass than a flat one.” Gine punched her on the shoulder hard. “Perv. I catch you staring, you’re going to find yourself six inches shorter. ” “Wait what? What’s that supposed to mean?” Gine laughed at him, taunting her with, “I’ll tell you when you’re older.” She walked out the door after Harked, being followed by questioning from Cisco as he pestered her over her comment. “Seriously though, what is that supposed to mean? When I’m older? Come on you only use that one on little kids when they ask about something awkward.” Gine widened her eyes and nodded slowly at Cisco. “Wait what?” He shook her head, almost in a defeat, “Later Cisco.” The path Harked led them on was very well quiet. The fellow didn’t say but two words to them the entire time and that was “Stop. Go. ” “Here we are.” Harked commented at last. The street in question was currently blocked off with some yellow tape, which Harked simply ignored and ducked underneath. Gine looked at Cisco questioningly before ducking under the tape after her. “So, what can you tell us about the crime scene?” Harked gave a sharp look at Gine before nodding at last, “I’m not sure what to make of anything here. The victim was killed about here I imagine I noted that each person was strangled and that their bodies seemed to have been left in pretty good shape.” Harked pointed to one spot near a wall. “I’m assuming this is where first contact between the victim and the Monster happened and then the victim ran here.” Harked Demonstrated by running to the spot she saw and then pretending she was the victim. “This is about where the monster caught the victim and dragged them down this way before strangling them.” “If I had to take any guess about this thing, I’d have to say Intelligent.” Gine nodded. Based on what she had already shown them, it seemed like a very educated guess. Cisco wandered over towards a manhole. “Yup just like I suspected.” Gine looked at her with an eyebrow raised. “Monsters like this always hide in the sewers that’s just how the genre goes.” Gine rolled her eyes. “Ewe why the sewers?” Cisco shrugged, “What better place to hide in than the underground network? It lets you move around anywhere undetected, and there aren’t that manner predators down there that is unless you count Sewer Gators. ” “That’s just a myth. I doubt even an Alligator could live in the sewers of a city.” Harked eyed the manhole and examined it just like Cisco had. “Yes the covering here and there. Traces of sewer water.” Gine examined it carefully, not really seeing what the two guys were seeing about the manhole. “Harked, have the mayor set up people to keep an eye on all of the man holes.” Cisco pulled up the manhole cover and was about to jump down. “Hey! Wait!” Cisco looked over at Gine questioningly. Gine shook her head. “I am not going down into the sewers.” Cisco shrugged and was about to jump down again saying, “That’s fine.” He grabbed her shoulder and gave her a look. “Cisco Your long sword is too big for you to use down there. It’s best if we fought him on our turf, and not his?” Cisco nodded, but then decided to add, “How do you know it’s a ‘him’? Laying eggs inside of people says female to me.” Gine pulled his ear, “Whatever, just put the cover back on.” Cisco nodded and dropped the heavy manhole cover with a loud thump. He kicked the thick metal over the hole and pressed it into the small groove that was made for it. “Okay, Harked, call your guys and have them keep an eye on the manholes.” Harked nodded, “I’ve already done such.” Gine nodded, “Okay that’s great. Also! Make sure that we’re notified if anyone sees anything as in the second they do.” Cisco lifted the heavy blade off of her back and unfolded it demonstratively. He locked the blade into an open position. “That way we can try and get there before anyone gets hurt.” Harked nodded again and opened up her cellphone. “Guys, if you see anything, report back to me. I’ll send the locals over there on the double.” Harked looked back over to Gine and Cisco. Gine nodded back to her and turned to her partner. “Where should we wait? It’ll probably take a while before something comes up.” Cisco smiled and looked about, “Hmm. know any good bars?” Gine shook her head, “Well I do, but I’m not going to tell you.” She smiled back at Cisco and laughed at him. Harked raised an eyebrow before she made her suggestion, “Logically we’d like to wait somewhere near the center of the city correct?” Cisco sighed and nodded, “That sounds good I guess.” Gine punched Cisco on the shoulder. ”More than good.” Cisco winced and began to walk off. “Alright, so back to the Mayor’s then?” Gine shook her head and hung it low. “Back to her place.” The trio headed back over towards the mayor’s office, Gine and Cisco sat on the marble steps before the double doors of the building while Harked remained standing. She began to pace, holding her phone in her right hand. Gine could tell that her fingers were itching to press the talk button. All of them were simply waiting for the little machine to ring. “I don’t think we’ll be expecting anything until night anyways.” Cisco chuckled, “I think I’ll take a little power nap.” The local spread herself on the step and covered her eyes with her forearm. Gine was so bored that she wanted to pull out her gun cleaning kit and began to oil and polish her weapon, but thought against it. It would probably be better if she didn’t because she wanted to be ready at any time and as that universal law went, “If something bad can happen, it will.” She figured that if she pulled out her gun cleaning kit that’s when the monster would have been spotted. Once it started to get Gine, Harked finally sat down. She couldn’t seem to sit still. “What did I miss?” Cisco asked, finally getting up from her ‘power nap’. Gine shook her head. “Absolutely nothing. We’ve been sitting here since you went to sleep.” Cisco frowned and sat up. “Jabs.” she was saying. “This thing is pretty picky.” Gine held a fist out to Cisco. She smiled and held her fist out as well. “Rock. Paper. Scissors!” Gine had picked paper, and Cisco had picked Scissors. She smiled and stuck her tongue out at her. “Ha-ha, I win this time.” she pretended to cut Gine’s ‘Paper’. They lifted their hands again. “Rock. Paper. Scissors!” Gine picked paper again, and Cisco picked rock. Gine covered Cisco’s hand with hers. “Paper beats rock.” Cisco shook her head, “I don’t even know why, since Rocks could rip through paper.” Gine gave her a skeptical look, “It’s just a children’s game.” Cisco nodded, and raised her hands in her defense. “Yeah, but I’d like to play a game that makes sense.” Gine tilted her head quizzically. “Like what?” Cisco made two fists and then held out her forefingers of either fist and pointed them towards Gine. “Like Chopsticks for example. It’s logical, it follows rules that make sense. ” “Right so how do you play?” Gine asked, she naturally copied Cisco in placing two fingers pointed towards her two fingers. “Well it goes like this. We each take turns adding to each other’s hands. For example however many fingers I’m holding up, I can add that many fingers to your hand.” Gine nodded though she figured he would understand better if he actually got to play it. “Okay, so I’ll let you go first. Tap the hand that you want to add to.” Gine sighed, she didn’t see the point of adding something to her hands when she only had two fingers and she two fingers the result would be the same in her opinion. She tapped Cisco’s right hand and she lifted her middle finger alongside her forefinger. “See? Now it’s my turn.” He tapped Gine’s left hand with her right. “What’s that mean for me?” Gine asked her. “You’re supposed to add two fingers to your hand now. So you should be holding up three.” Gine held up three fingers, she thought the game seemed simple enough. “How do you win this game?” She asked Cisco. “That’s a good question. I’ll show you: Tap my right hand with your left, the one with three fingers.” Gine tapped his hand. She now held up all five of her fingers with her right hand. “When you have exactly five fingers, that hand is out. The person who loses both hands loses.” Cisco demonstrated by putting his hand behind his back “What happens if you go over five?” Gine continued, “Is that hand out still?” Cisco shook her head no, “Actually it’s not, and it needs to have exactly five in order to be out. If you go over five then you just start over at one Like if you had four and I had three, and your tapped me. I would end up with two fingers instead of seven.” Harked suddenly got a phone call. Gine and Cisco both grabbed their weapons, Cisco held her over her shoulder, while Gine patiently held hers at her side. “We got it.” Harked told the pair. “Where!?” Gine exclaimed, her feet wanted to run, but without the knowledge of where to she felt like she was planted into a block of cement. “Urdu’s Plaza, by the beach!” Gine knew exactly where that was. “Let’s go Cisco!” She yelled to her companion. The two charged through the empty streets of Dawn. It always seemed like an odd place to be at during the night, it didn’t help that the place’s name was the coast of the sun. Gine burst down the street and noted a transport sitting sideways against the street. She ran towards it, lifted it up and threw her legs around. “G bike. Hell yeah. ” She started the engine and quickly roared the machine to life. Cisco hopped onto the back of the bike, holding her long sword over her back so that it dragged on the street behind them, creating sparks. “Damn it I’m sitting in the back.” she complained as Gine burnt rubber down the street. She made a hard turn, the transport almost pummeled into a building, but the wheels caught just before it did and the transport went down the next street. “What’s so bad about sitting in the back of a bike?” Cisco looked upwards into the sky, “Do I really have to answer that? Women sit in the back. So that makes me the woman of this relationship. ” Gine scoffed. “What? What kind of stupid thing is that? Another one of your unwritten laws of manhood?” Cisco nodded, “Hell yeah, and for good reason too. You gals don’t get wood.” Gine was beginning to feel what she meant. “Cisco” Cisco shrugged, “What? I can’t control that thing, it has a mind of its own.” Gine shook her head as she turned another corner. “Cisco” She simply stated again. “What?” Gine elbowed the man so that she fell off of the bike. “Good bye Cisco.” She told her, driving off alone. She could hear her yelling after her, something like, “Hey! What was that for!?” Knocking Cisco off of the transport did two things. The first thing it did was make it so that the transport went faster since it no longer had the extra weight, the next it did pay back for freaking her out. It wasn’t exactly the most reassuring feeling to have something hard rubbing against your backside. Gine rolled her eyes to herself and sped down the street. She took another sharp turn onto the plaza and immediately saw the creature exuding from the Sewers. “You.” She yelled to it. She held up her gun with her right hand and fired a bullet v. 2 into the monster. The man watching the man hole began to make her escape, whereas the monster had been choking her before. The energy beam ate through the monster’s tentacles and flesh leaving a mass of monster flesh flailing about on the ground. When the transport Lurched forward into the monster Gine hopped off and let the transport slam into the monster so that it would not be able to escape back into the man hole. Gine lifted up her armor and quickly took aim at the transport’s fuel tank. She fired. The transport exploded, creating a massive fireball of tentacles and transport Parts. Something suddenly shot out of the mass of flame and flesh into her side. She screamed as it pierced through her body and kept going. It lifted her up into the air. Gine pulled out the knife she had in her boot and sliced the tentacle. She fell to the ground and rolled over grabbing her weapon. She opened fire several more times into the monster, but it continued forward. Gine began to retreat. She ripped the remaining tentacle from her body and ran back the way she had come. Something wrapped around her arms and throat. Soon it wrapped around her chest and began to squeeze the air out of her body. She gasped for air in vain and watched with tear filled eyes as something that looked like a stinger hovered in front of her face. It was bulbous enough to be carrying the eggs that had been injected into other victims. Gine gritted her teeth and tried to use the strength local had given her through the oil Infusion process only to find that she didn’t have any left. “Gine!!!” was the yell of Cisco as he leapt from a nearby roof and sliced the tentacles between Gine and the monster. Gine felt the monster immediately slacken as she fell to the ground again. She coughed and reached for her gun as she looked up to see the severed stinger on the ground in front of her. “Are you alright.” Gine examined her wound as she popped another bullet into the feed ramp of her gun. “I’m hurt.” She simply answered. Whether it was life threatening or not she couldn’t tell the adrenaline wouldn’t even let her feel the pain. “You’re DEAD!”Cisco swung his mighty long sword and sliced the monster horizontally and smashed both the monster and the blade into a nearby building. The monster crippled began to writhe and crawl away but Cisco lifted his giant long sword and smashed it into the street creating an indention in the ground. “You’re Mine Fucker.” he told the monster, lifting the blade up and hacking the tentacle monster over and over again. She didn’t stop until Gine wobbled and fell to her knees. “Gine?!” she ran to her side. “I’m losing a lot of blood. I can’t stand anymore.” She told him. It was true that her body was beginning to feel heavy. She couldn’t even lift her gun anymore. “Hang in there Gine! I’ll get you to a hospital!” Gine felt Cisco’s immensely strong arms cradle her. He began to run down that street, careful not to agitate Gine too much Gine looked over at the monster dead on the ground, its blood spilling out over the street. Some nearby people had come out to desecrate its body. Don’t worry Gine you’ll be okay someone was saying that. Gun shots, explosions, the clash of metal, and bestial roars filled the air. A pillar of smoke rose into the sky in a remote part of the rolling plains; this was the focal point of all the chaos. The events leading up to the current situation were a bit foggy, but Gine had a vague idea of what had happened. The helicopter flight had been routine, for the most part at least. When they grew close to the objective, a great horde of monsters came into sight, just as was reported. When they tried to touch down, the beasts attacked the helicopter, sending it spinning out of control. It was the skill of the pilot that had prevented them from crashing into the hills on either side of them. She managed to regain control, but they were too low. A monster rammed the side of the chopper and knocked it over. The rotors snapped and the chopper violently swung around until it collided with the beast, killing it. By this time, the five occupants had jumped out of the vehicle and it smashed into the ground not far from them, exploding in a giant fireball. That was roughly a half hour earlier. Since then, the five of them had been fighting for their lives. Approximately twenty of the Wolf-like creatures had assisted the now deceased monster in attacking the group; only two were killed when the chopper crashed. A few more had shown up later. Gine swung up her blade to intercept one of the wolves at it leapt at her. Her long sword met the beast’s underbelly and sliced up into its stomach. She swung sideways and sent it flying to ground just in front of her and to her left, blood trailing out of its new wound. She unconsciously wondered just how many more of the damn things were left. A quick glance around showed at least 7. She quickly changed the number to 8 as she saw the one she had just stricken get back to its feet. Talon and Kiko stood to her left and right. Just behind them was the door of the helicopter. Somewhere amongst the twisted heap of metal, the pilot and Rook were positioned, using the debris as cover while they fired off their weapons. Through the corner of her eye, she saw another wolf make an attempt at attack, but Kiko had it covered. She seized the creature by the neck before slamming it down on the ground and used her other arm to slice down on its head with her sword. Around them were several bodies of the monsters, some with slashes corpses, but the majority were ridden with bullet wounds; Rook was a superb marksman. 3655 |

None of the fighters was in perfect condition, even exiting the aircraft had caused minor injuries and the shrapnel from the explosion had led to further damage. Gine had several lacerations on her arms and a set of parallel gashes among the tattered clothing on her lower chest. Out of all of them, the pilot was the worst off, being the last person to have gotten out of the chopper before it crashed. She had several broken bones, but they didn't have the option of letting her sit out the fight at the moment. Gine's eyes carefully scanned back in forth across the wolves as they paced back and forth in front of the group. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. Wait. where's the last one? she counted again, but once again came up one less than she should have. "Gine, get down!" Gine only had enough time to spin around before the seventh wolf came down on her, pinning her to the ground. As its claws dug into her skin on her arms and legs, the monster let out a great screech, nearly suffocating her in its foul breath. Gine struggled to kick the thing off of her, but it was too heavy for her to move. Just as it bent its head down to try and bite, a gunshot rang through the air, and its head exploded into a mess of gore over her. 6. The force of the shot knocked it off of her, which was lucky because both Talon and Kiko were busy keeping the rest of them at bay. Not wasting her time standing up, Gine rolled onto her side and brought her armor up to eye level before squeezing off a 4 round burst at a wolf that was coming up behind Talon. Two shots hit the beast in the side, one skimmed the top of its skull, and the last hit it right in the eye. It fell to the ground, dead. 5. She dropped her armor and kicked herself up into standing position just in time to swing her long sword up, blocking a slash by one of the monster that had noticed she was still alive. As she slashed at the wolf, barely missing, she heard a grunt to her right. While she was preoccupied with one of the beasts, another had come up behind Talon and slashed his back, nearly knocking him to the ground. Kiko threw her long sword at the beast, catching it in the side and sending the blade straight through. The steel pinned it helplessly to the ground while Rook finished it off with a single shot. 4. Gine turned back to her opponent to block another strike. In response, the wolf charged at her. Gine jumped over the attack and stabbed her makeshift weapon down into its hind leg then grabbed her gun off the ground. She stepped on the monster's back and unloaded three shots into the back of its head. 3. She turned towards the nearest source of movement to see Kiko snap a wolf's neck before she flung it into the cliff wall. 2. Next she turned to Talon, seeing him stab one wolf's head to the ground with both of his swords. 1. She then tore Kiko's long sword out of the dead wolf behind her and brought the blade down on the last wolf's back. And. there. that all of them. for now. Gine let out a sigh of relief before she untied her visor and used it to wipe the gore from her face. She then brought the cloth back up and tied it around her head again. Talon collapsed backward, falling into a sitting position against a piece of the helicopter. Kiko was just as tired as everyone else, but she wouldn't show it. She turned around and crossed her arms, looking at the scene of the crash. The main body of the chopper was still intact, but it was bent up against the side of a cliff. Just between the front of the craft and the wall was the body of a monster, the cockpit was running through its chest and one of the rotor blades was lodged in its neck. Gine was glad that the thing had died before the battle started; chances are that they might have had a casualty or two if they had had to fight the thing. Gine fell back against a small boulder, using it as a support while she caught her breath. When her adrenaline finally started to wear off, she noticed the sound of music coming from her left ear. She had never gotten a chance to take her headphones off, and the wire leading up to her left ear had been sliced by a piece of shrapnel or one of the wolf's claws. Sighing, she took both of them out and put them into her pocket with her phone. She closed her eyes, letting herself rest for a few moments. She could hear Rook coming towards them from the door. She sat down on the ground next to Gine. "Hey Gine, You all right?" she nodded. "Yeah, thanks to your aim.” she heard Rook laugh quietly. "No problem. Hey, you're bleeding.” Gine opened her eyes and looked down. Sure enough, she was bleeding where the wolf's claws dug into her skin on her shoulders and below her knees. "So I am.” she ripped off some fabric from each of her pant legs and used it to bandage up the wounds on her legs then used some from her shirt and her visor to patch up the other two. After a few more minutes, Gine could hear someone talking. She looked over her shoulder to see Kiko with her cell phone. “What are your orders? Are we getting extracted? . Are you kidding me!? Glare, this is ridiculous, we've got wounded and the chopper is- . Yes sir, I understand. I’ll report back in an hour.” she slammed the phone shut and walked over, taking a seat roughly in the middle of the rest of them. "Bad news, command says that we are to continue on with the quest, the higher ups say that all current losses are acceptable.” Talon shook his head and slid Kiko's long sword across the ground to her. "Figures.” Her hair was stained red and her bandage had been torn off in the battle, revealing the large gash that ran over her left eye and covered the majority of her helmet. "So.” Kiko continued after putting her long sword back in its sheath. “Rook, I want you to set up those detpacks you brought and stay here with the pilot. Me, Talon, and Gine will continue on with the quest and come back for you when we're done. How many more of the things could there be anyway? We took down about thirty. " After they all caught their breath, Gine stood up and looked down at Rook, "Have any extra ammo Rook? I only have a few shots left.” Nodding, Rook reached into her vest pocket and pulled out an ammo cartridge. "This is all I can spare, don't waste it.” Gine took the ammo and put it on her belt. "Thanks.” she had a total of 26 shots now, and she would probably have to use them. Kiko stood up, having just finished bandaging up the slashes on Talon's back. She helped her up then turned to Gine. "Alright, let’s get moving; we’ve got a bit of ground to cover. Good luck Rook" It was about a mile walk back to the intended drop off point. Curiously enough, there was almost no activity on the way there. The only monsters that they saw kept their distance or completely ignored them. Despite the hindrance that constantly moving up and down hills created, they kept at a relatively even pace. When they finally made it to the top of the hill they were supposed to have been dropped off on, Gine picked up her pace and went a little bit ahead of Talon and Kiko. She stopped at the edge of the slope and looked down. From the top of the hill, she could see the opening of the cave that they were sent to explore. There were several shapes moving around just outside. She brought her armor up and looked through her scouter to get a better look. Five more creaturees were prowling about, but they didn't seem like they'd be too much of a problem. What really worried her was what was inside the cave; there was the possibility that the only thing in there was a monster nest. Which would mean this was a suicide quest. "Hey Gine, what do you see?" she put her armor down and looked over her shoulder at the other two. "Five of the things outside, can't tell any more than that.” Kiko knelt down next to her. "Take as many of 'em out as you can before they notice us.” Gine nodded and brought the gun back up to her eye. "Yes sir.” she zeroed in on a wolf that wasn't moving, then positioned her reticule directly over its head. Careful not to move her arm, she lightly squeezed the trigger, firing a single round. It hit its mark exactly, boring into its skull to immediately end its life. "One down.” she didn't waste any time finding her next target, now she only had a matter of time before the rest of the wolves were upon them. She tried to take a pin point shot on the wolf, but its movements were too erratic. Damn. How does Rook do this? Giving up, she found herself emptying the rest of her clip into her target, only hitting with three out of the five rounds. Still, she was lucky enough to hit both of its front legs and its chest. Although its wasn't dead, it was at least immobilized. The last three wolves drew ever closer while Gine scrambled to get her other clip and put it into her weapon. She only had enough time to spray down one more with seven rounds before the other two made it up the hill. "Out of time.” she didn't have enough time to draw her sword, but Talon and Kiko were already taking care of them. Each blocked an oncoming charge with their blades. Talon was thrown back by the force of the tackle, but his block had given Gine enough time to get her blade out and slash the beast's legs out from under it. It collapsed on the ground and she finished it off with two slashes to the head. Kiko was able to completely stop the Creature's movement and she dispatched it almost instantly. After helping Talon back to his feet, Gine found herself staring at the scar over his eye. "You know, you should probably keep that covered until it’s healed, here.” she took her visor off and gave it to him. She took it from her and tied it on her head so that it covered up her eye. “Thanks.” Kiko ripped her blade out of the wolf's back. "Alright, we still have work to do, let’s go.” Gine took her gun back out and looked down the hill at the disabled Creature. "One second.” she fired off one last shot to end the beast's life. "Alright, now we can go.” Shaking her head, Kiko started down the hill. Within a few moments, they were at the bottom of the hill, standing at the entrance to the cavern. "Hear anything?" "No, there isn't much activity in there at the moment at least. " "Well, maybe we did cut down their numbers quite a bit. " "Don't be too sure Dark; It just might be nap time. " "Very funny. " "Well, let’s not just stand here, better get this over with, Gine, you go first. " "Of course.” Gine resisted rolling her eyes. She put her gun on her back and took out her sword, holding it out in front of her as she stepped into the darkness of the cave; Talon went in next, and Kiko brought up the rear. Gine moved slowly, trying to keep as quiet as possible with her movements. The cave was narrow and it didn't branch off at all. The only light came from the entrance of the cave, but it reflected off the smooth walls, creating a sort of ambience. After 5 minutes of moving at the slow pace, Gine stepped out into a wide open room. Light filtered in through a hole in the ceiling, illuminating the room slightly better than the corridor. As soon as she stepped into the light, A shadow leapt at her from somewhere to the side of the door, knocking her to the ground. "What the?" A set of claws came swiping down at her and she turned her head to avoid the brunt of the damage. The razor sharp claws raked against her cheek, drawing blood. Before the beast could do anything else, it was pushed off of her by a hard blow to the back. "Gine!" she could see Kiko's silhouette slamming into the beast and shoving it into a wall. Talon's hand grabbed hold of her arm and pulled her to her feet. She quickly shook off the disorientation and charged at the shadow, stabbing her blade through it and into the wall behind while Kiko held it in place. Despite its injuries, the wolf continued thrashing about, catching Gine and Kiko occasionally with its claws. "Damn this thing won't quit.” Kiko yelled over its screeches. "I think we found the alpha wolf.” While they struggled to keep the monster in place, Talon rushed over and stabbed one of his own blades into its neck. "Die dammit.” Kiko follow suit, holding the beast in place with her shoulder while she grabbed her sword. "Hold it still for a second.” she took a step back and used all of her strength to carve open the Alpha's side, nearly cutting it in half. After a few more seconds, loss of blood slowed the beast's movements to a halt. With some effort, Gine pulled her blade out. The weight of the wolf caused its neck to tear open, freeing Talon's weapon. Gine looked down at the mutilated corpse, shaking her head. "Well, at least it’s dead now.” Kiko sighed. "What a pain in the arse that was. No time to waste, we've got to get done here as fast as we can. The longer we're here, the longer Rook is stuck out there fighting these damn things.” Gine wiped the blood on her cheek on her shirt before turning towards the opening on the room opposite of where they entered. A faint glow radiated out of the door. "Looks like we're just about there. " As Gine stepped through the opening, a deafening roar filled the air of the cavern. Flinching, she looked up to see a large silhouette in front of a bright light. "Aw hell.” her words were drowned out by the sound of the echoes but the same thing was on all three of their minds. Gine dove to the right, giving Talon and Kiko room to get out of the doorway. Talon followed Gine to the right, but Kiko was cut off as the Monster swiped at her with its massive claw. She was knocked over to the left by the blow and the beast followed her, turning its back to Talon and Gine. "Sarah, you know what to do.” The monster battle was one of the classic training simulations that they had been forced to do over and over again in their training. Fifth squad had the fight down to an art, but then again, they were tired and they were short one person. The most important thing to remember was, of course, the data simulation could never truly replicate a real monster's actions. Gine knelt down, letting Talon use her back to vault onto the monster's back. She landed just below its shoulders, stabbing his blades into its back to use as holds while it began roaring and thrashing about. Obviously, the beast tried to shake her off, but she had enough training to stay on for quite awhile. Gine ran around to the side of the monster, locking her armor into the slot on her blade as she moved. As soon as she had a clear view of its head, she looked down the blade to line up the target and fired a 4 round burst at it. The bullets did little more than anger it, bouncing off its hard skull because they didn't hit any vital areas. Still, the monster stopped its struggling and turned to face the new attacker, freeing Talon to climb a little higher before driving his blades into the back of its neck. Normally in the simulations, the monster would have ignored her and continued the attack against the other three, well. two in this case. Instead of going after one or the other, the monster spun around, using its metal to lash at Kiko as she tried to stand up then at Gine, sending them both painfully into the walls of the cave. Able to reach Talon at her new position, the beast reached behind its head and grabbed her in a vice like grip. The pressure on her arms forced her to release her swords, leaving them stuck in the monster's back. It held her in front of its massive jaws and let out a mighty roar before it brought its hand up to its mouth. "Dammit! Die you bastard!" Gine had managed to force herself back up into a sitting position and unloaded her entire clip into the monster's face. It screeched and turned towards her, tossing Talon over its shoulder and into the wall behind it. Blood was running down its head and several bullet holes peppered its skin, including its eyes. Filled with rage, it rushed at her while she struggled to stand. When it was a mere three feet away, it stopped, stunned. Kiko crouched just in front of it, her blade running up through its chest. The beast realized what had happened and swatted Kiko away with one of its claws, once again knocking her into a wall. Gine finished pushing herself up to see Kiko collapse against the hard rock, no longer moving. Nearly blinded by rage, she charged at the monster, sliding under it at the last second, her long sword pointed up so that it slashed at the beast's underbelly as she moved. Once on the other side, she grabbed the monster's metal and pulled herself up onto it just before it spun around again. As she held on, she reached up as far as she could and stabbed her blade into the monster's back before pulling herself up farther. Another roar of pain filled the cavern, but at this point Gine couldn't hear anything but her heart pumping adrenaline through her. She pulled herself up as far as she could then briefly stood on the back of her blade while she reached up to grab Talon's short swords. Pulling herself up further, she positioned herself between the blades so that one was against her back and the other was at her feet. She pushed against the one that her feet were on with all of her might, causing it to tear through the monster’s skin until it was eventually pushed out of its neck. Blood pour out of the resulting wound, but Gine couldn’t do any more. Helpless to the beast’s thrashing, she simply held on to the other blade as best as she could. As her grip started to weaken, she figured out some other way she could cause damage. She swung her body around to the other side of the long sword so that she was hanging half off the side of the monster’s body. Her weight pulled the long sword down to side, slicing through flesh as it moved. When the blade stopped moving, Gine reached out for the handle of Kiko’s sword, finding it difficult to reach with the monster’s movements hindering her. After several tries, her hand found the hilt of the long sword and she grabbed onto it. Once again using her own weight, she tore the large blade from the beast’s chest, opening up yet another large wound. As she fell to the ground before the beast, Gine stabbed up into another spot in its chest with the blade. A violent movement ripped it from her hand as the monster bent down and roared at her. It charged her, pushing her back using its skull as a battering ram. She felt her ribs crush under the pressure that was created after it slammed her into the wall. She couldn't breath and the edges of her vision started to cloud, but then, it stopped. The monster wavered for a moment before it fell on its side, blood leaking out onto the floor under it. Gine crumbled onto the floor, air flooding into her lungs despite the fact that it hurt when she breathed. Several minutes passed without any movement in the cavern, Gine struggled to remain conscious, and as far as she could tell, the other two were either out of commission or. She didn't want to think about it. Out of the silence, she could hear Kiko's cell phone ring. After several rings, it stopped. A few moments later, Gine's own phone rang. She forced her arms up to her pocket and grabbed her phone. She opened it and brought it up to her ear. “Gine here. what is it Glare?" “Yaid isn't answering, whats going on?" "I’m not sure. if he's ok. We're. in. the cavern. monster was waiting. back here. " "Damn. I'll see what I can do about extraction, The higher ups aren't cooperating with me on this one. If it had been up to me, you would have been home the second that chopper crashed." "Thank you. Sir." "Hang in there Gine." The line went dead, leaving Gine in the silence of the cave once again. Several more minutes passed before she managed to force herself up. She clumsily limped over to the opposite side of the room before collapsing on that wall, right next to where Talon had landed. A few feet away, Kiko was wedged in a small hole that her impact had created in the wall. "That you. Gine?" she turned her head toward Talon, who was leaning against the wall behind him. "Yeah. You ok?" She made a very slight movement, shaking her head. "Can't move. everything hurts too much. There's a potion. In my pocket. we're going to need you. to get outta here.” Gine reached into the side pocket on her vest and pulled out the potion before using it. She instantly felt a little better, the pain in her ribs had been numbed and she could feel her energy returning. He forced herself back up and turned towards the source of the bright light that filled the room. A beautiful display of crystal was at the very back of the room, and a small sphere was perched atop it, bathing the entire room in light. The company's suspicions had been right, it was a oil fountain all right. Drawn to the light, Gine walked over to the fountain and put her hand on the ki sphere. Naturally occurring ki was indeed a rare sight, but she still had her orders. After a moment, she ripped the sphere from the rest of the crystalline material and slipped it into her vest pocket. Next, she walked over to Kiko and pulled another potion out of her pocket before using it on her. She didn't regain consciousness, but her hard breathing died down a bit. "Great. now I get to haul these two out of here.” There was a groan from Talon. "Hey. I heard that.” she walked back over to him and knelt down. "Yeah, yeah. let's get you out of here. " Carefully lifting her up, she had to carry him out of the cavern. It took awhile because of how slow she had to move, but eventually they arrived outside. It took a moment for the effects of the light to wear off, but she couldn't waste any time. She set Talon down against the side of the hill before she went back in to get Kiko. When she arrived back in the back chamber, Kiko was at least semi-conscious. She pulled her ally out from the hole in the wall and helped support her weight as they stood. "That thing dead?" Gine nodded. "Yeah. guess it was that other one's mate.” Kiko tried to laugh. "Great, son of a bitch had it coming.” This trip through the cave was faster, but they still had to move slow to prevent further injury to either of them. By the time all of them were out and sitting against the hill side it was sunset. The amber light filled the sky in front of them, creating a mystifying show of lights amongst the clouds. The three of them sat in painful silence watching the show for about an hour before the distinct chopping of rotor blades reached them. "'Bout damn time.” The shadow of a helicopter passed over them, heading towards the smoke of the crash site. "Looks like Glare came through for us.” Gine followed the outline of the chopper until it sank too low for her to see. Several minutes later, it returned, this time touching down a few yards away. Several paramedics climbed out, followed by Rook, who was covered in ash and slashes. She had a huge grin on her face. Each of them was put on a stretcher and loaded into the back of the helicopter. As they started to take off, Rook leaned over Gine's body, still grinning. 4342 7997 |

"Man that was a hell of a day, you guys seem to have taken quite a beating, eh?" Gine noticed that Rook's ammo belt only had 4 round left on it, and all of his grenades were gone. "Jesus Rook. What the hell did you do while we were gone?" "Me? I had the time of my life! Nothing like the sound of explosives going off, you know?" "Glad you had fun. The ki was secured, Its in my vest. " "Hey man, don’t worry. Get some rest, you deserve it. The medics said that they'd send people back to grab your equipment when they did a further investigation of the cave later this week. Best of all, Glare arranged to get us all time off, so seriously, get some shut eye.” Gine was happy to oblige. She let her eyes droop and her mind rest. Despite the pain in her ribs returning and the noise in the helicopter cabin, she didn't have any trouble at all getting to sleep, today had taken too much out of her for those things to even bother her at all. Yaid had created so many weapons. It had created Gine’s Sniper gun, and yet she had not the slightest clue who this weapon smith was. It wasn’t like she could look him up; the guy didn’t exist. She had been issued this armor from the armory one day, and quite frankly, that’s about all she had ever really thought about it. Then again she had always pondered who hand carved these engravings into the side of this weapon. This gun had belonged to a Yaid legend at one point in time, and judging by the markings it was very special to her, as it was to Gine. There had been few new orders since Yaid’s attack on demons. She had seen the newspapers claiming that the real pacboss had gotten through, but for some reason Gine highly doubted such a thing to be true. She figured that someone like Yaid who could detect people who had demon cells in them would be able to determine such a thing. Regardless of the amount of orders that Gine had gotten, local’s HQ was as busy as ever. localS were rushing here rushing there everyone had somewhere to be, and the rec. room was pretty much empty. Except for Gine. This room was one of her favorite places to be when people were here, but now it was utterly lonely. She sighed and started to clean her weapon. She found that she cleaned her gun so much that it never actually needed cleaning. ”DAMN!” came a voice, Gine looked up at the person just entering the room. She walked over to the mini cooler and pulled out a drink and hopped casually onto a couch adjacent to the one Gine was occupying. ”Don’t that just beat all? Nobodies here!” the man complained as he lifted the tab on his can and opened it with a familiar click and pop. Gine watched him take a slurp before putting her gun cleaning tools away. ”Everyone’s been busy since that quest a few weeks ago.” Gine replied, letting her gun lean against the arm of the couch. She examined this man for a moment trying to remember his name. In Yaid you always met new people. When someone died, another person came to take their place. Same went with being promoted. That’s right, she recalled now; it was Daniel. Some people had considered him rowdy; Gine had heard rumors that there wasn’t a single girl on the planet he couldn’t make swoon. Gine was determined not to be one of those girls. Besides she didn’t really think being “swooned” is possible. Not in her mind at least. She didn’t understand how someone could be swept of their feet like that well there was one way: If they were completely gaga over the person doing the swooning. That was the most probable answer in her opinion. ”Since we’re both here I guess they’re gonna find something for us to do.” she continued, taking another slurp and throwing her arm across the back of the couch. Daniel looked over to her and scooted a bit closer ’Gawd I hope she doesn’t make a move ’ Her eyes must have said as much because the man immediately backed down. ’Thank goodness. ’ ”You’re the gal everyone calls ‘Head shot’ right?” Gine nodded. She honestly wanted a new nickname. It wasn’t like she was that good or anything, she had just gotten that name from being a sniper. ”Though I’ve never shot anyone in the head before.” she admitted cautiously. Daniel lifted his head in surprise. ”Never! Well Why the hell are they calling you head shot then? You need a new name! Humm” Daniel went into deep thought her chin rested in the palm of her hand as she sipped carefully. ”R. O. C. Eh too mysterious and cool. How about Copter Bait?” Gine slapped her face with her own hand, and let it drag across. ”Gawd, you guys are still going on about that?” Daniel chuckled and shook his head, and then pointed at her saying, ”Hey, I wonder who’s the one who trusted Kiko’s piloting?” Gine gave her a look, ”You’re never going to score any points that way.” He told her, in a soft gentle and overly disgusting girly voice. A lot of the women back at the bordello had used this kind of voice to charm their customers. It wasn’t a business practice, for the women there it had been a matter of survival. He seemed to fumble for words, but obviously failed at it because she couldn’t come up with a witty come back for that one, well except for, ”Heh Copter Bait I may not be winning any points here, but neither are you.” Gine gave her a skeptical look, ”Really? And what exactly would win me points? Why do I even need them?” The man pushed the side of his cheek with his tongue, then made a clicking sound as she ran her hand back in forth in front of her mouth. She then smiled widely, ”Ever lick a lollipop before girly? We could keep certain things about you secret.” Gine couldn’t help but roll her eyes at this man. ”Ha. Ha. Ha. So who told you?” she raised an eyebrow. ”Keep your dick in your pants and start thinking with your head. Not that one, your other head. ” The man frowned and leaned back in her seat, sipping his drink. Well there went getting along well with Daniel. ”Well, just so you know, the offer stills stands. I’m good for collecting any” She slugged her, ”Just shut up Daniels.” She pointed a finger at her angrily, ”Don’t you dare screw with me. I can take a dirty joke, my ass getting slapped, or even a little groping but by gawd, you’ll never be able to walk upright again: I’ll kick your nuts so hard they’ll go up your throat and THEN we’ll see how much YOU like a dick in YOUR mouth. ” There was dead silence in the rec. room now. It was supposed to be a place of relaxation, where locals could relieve stress from battles and get ready for the next ones to come. Gine sighed and pulled out her gun cleaning kit again. She couldn’t sit still, and the sound of the clinking and the smell of the oil would be good for her soul right now. Another man entered the room, ”3rd class saiyan Gine, please report to the Commander at once!” She sighed and nodded, putting her gun kit away once more, she slung her overly clean weapon over her shoulder. Gine stood up and started making her way out of the rec. room; she completely ignored Daniel’s last comment. She walked down the halls to the local office where her new commanding officer was stationed. 3rd class saiyan reporting as Ordered Sir! She told the commander, saluting her. She just waved her off. This new guy was black and had firey red hair with solid white teeth. He pushed a file towards her. ”You’ve been assigned a hit.” Gine was cautious when it came to taking the document, looking at the commander to see if it was okay to do see. No response. It must be okay. She picked it up and opened the file. Target YAID SWORD. You must imagine the shock that went down her spine. Why has it been like this lately? Killing everyone she knew? Take out this guy take out that guy. Well it seemed like she was supposed to take out some people that had collected the dragon balls. Like she gave a fuck about all that. Well, she took her rifle and went down to the area that they were supposedly gathering. She wondered what would happen if she just picked them off one by one. “Will they have me committing seppuku before long?” she wondered. “It used to be random targets people without faces. People I didn’t know. Just shoot them and we’re done. What is the deal? Why are they doing this to me? Is local testing me? Testing to see my loyalties?” “I’d still be living life on my back.” She cleared her throat and saluted again, ”Orders Received.” she said, she waved for her to leave. She did so and made her way towards the plane that would take her there. What was she going to do now? She was authorized to use certain vehicles, she would probably end up taking a transport to wherever she needed to head off to. She made her way into the barracks and laid down upon her bed, staring at the bunk above her. “What’s your plan girl? They want me to kill these people and I hardly even know where she is Lets see I’m guessing by the time I’ve gotten this report, and that it takes me to get there it’ll already be too late. Why do they want to kill these people anyways?” “These people have a betting addiction the profile says they often frequent casinos. I know that they know someone is after them. I’m almost certain that they’ll be expecting me. They will figure that this place is dangerous for them. The crowds will give her excellent protection though. It might be enough to draw them in for the animals racing. Alright, so I have my plan all ready, just need to get over there Now that I think about it, a– transport might not be sufficient enough. I’ll take an air ship from Dawn over to This one town and make my way to festival by bike.” She closed her eyes and hugged her gun to her body. She was up bright and early the next day. Her long journey was to begin as soon as possible. Gine ran down towards the parking lot and registered for the use of a motor bike. The engine roared. She drove on and soon broke Dawn Town city limits. She splashed through the swamp with the big snake in it and eventually got to Dawn. She booked passage on another plane and began to fly across the waters just like she planned. There however was one thing that did not go according to plan. ”Compliments of Yaid.” she over heard one of the pilots saying, Gine immediately lifted her head towards the two pilots as one shot the other in the head. Gine pulled out her armor and was about to shoot back but had to take cover when the man shot at her. ”Enjoy your flight lovey.” some people shot the windshield, and then jumped out through the broken glass. Gine ran over and peered out just in time to see them all release parachutes and carrying a glass case full of dragon balls. “You make it too easy,” she would mutter as she shot an energy dan down at the idiots and watched as they all died. Mission complete. 2015 10012 |
