The cool winds of the night brushed along Tohru, lifting only the tips of his white Weighted Cape. A newly fashioned Weighted Turban was wrapped around Tohru’s head as the warrior’s eyes seemed to be in a trance.

The Demon Hybrid sat crossed legged atop the railing of a large stone bridge. His arms crossed in front of him as he meditated. The moon and the stars were Tohru’s only companions as he waited atop the large stone bridge.

The foe he waited for was a man known as Akkio; a veteran martial artist who was once a student of Roshi’s. Despite supposedly being an adept student of the Old Hermit’s, the student abandoned the philosophies of goodness and protection, and began to use the skills taught to him for nefarious purposes.

Tohru was only recently informed of this student yesterday by his current instructor and fellow veteran student of the old Hermit’s, Katsuo.

It was due to a hunger for a challenge that caused the Hybrid to seek out his foe. Tohru had reached out to his recently new underworld connections and managed to get a location as to where Akkio resided. Fighting an older student of Roshi’s would allow Tohru to test his abilities and see how far he had grown.

“You don’t see a lot of passengers through these old fields.”

Tohru’s eyes snapped open to see a long bearded figure standing before him. The slender built man had a cheerful expression, his long mustache and bread braided elegantly as a ponytail of the same fashion rested between his shoulders. He wore a blue shaolin gui top, with loose fitting black martial art pants and shoes.

Tohru instantly had an inkling that this was Akkio, the man he was looking for.

“Tell me friend, what is your name?” Akkio inquired as he tilted his head.

“Tohru, and yours?” The Hybrid replied.

“Akkio, pleasured to meet your acquantice, Tohru,” Akkio spoke with a humbled bow.
Well, isn’t he pleasant? Tohru thought.

“Tell me, what brings you out these ways Master Tohru? These old battle grounds don’t see many visitors,” Akkio spoke with a curious tone.

“I’m on a quest,” Tohru said with a smirk.

“Oh?” Akkio raised a brow, “And what may that quest entail?”

“Regaining my master’s honor,” Tohru stated, “And what do your travels bring you?”

“My, I’m not even sure how to answer that, seeing how I’m normally alone on my long travels. Let’s see, I suppose I just allow myself to go where the wind blows. Though I am a famed martial artist, and I quite enjoy looking for opportunities to test my abilities against others,” Akkio spoke as he studied Tohru intently, “If I’m not mistaken, those are weighted gear you’re wearing there, aren’t they?”

Tohru nodded proudly, “Just the cape and turban.”

“Then you must be a skilled martial artist?” A sneering smile appeared across Akkio’s face, “Tell me, would you be up for a friendly spar?”

Tohru’s proud smile grew even more, “Absolutely.”

The Hybrid hopped off the railing as Akkio took several forward down the bridge to give the two fighters room to spar. The slender built man gently placed his traveling sack on the railing and then returned to the middle of the bridge, stretching out his arms as he did.

“Ah, this night’s air feels so refreshing! Perfect for a duel! If you don’t mind me asking young warrior, you said you were on a quest to regain your master’s honor before, who is your master?” Akkio inquired.

Tohru chuckled as he gripped the top of his turban and slung the heavy piece of fabric off onto the stone floor, “Roshi.”

Akkio’s pleasant smile disappeared as an expression of surprise overtook him, “Really?”

“Really,” Tohru stated boldly. He grabbed onto his cape and then slung it over his shoulders and onto the floor. He swung his arms back and forth to warm them up from their stiffness.

“Well, well, it appears we are kindred spirits then, for he is my old master as well,” Akkio stated, “Tell me, why does our master need you to regain his honor?”

“You know why,” Tohru declared. A small smirk appeared across Akio’s face.

“Indeed, I suppose I do,” then suddenly, the old pleasant smile from before returned upon his face, but with a more sinister curl to it, “Our master is a fool. The only dishonorable thing he has ever done is disband me from his school of training and forcing me to roam these lands to hone these skills he taught me on my own. In order for him to regain his honor, he would have to accept me back into his school.”

“You’ve gone against everything Master Roshi teaches, and now I’ve come to put an end to that so our master can be at peace,” Tohru stated. Akkio laughed proudly.

“And do what, kill me? Isn’t that against our master’s teachings? Or have I had quite the influence on the way he teaches now?” Akkio mockingly asked. Tohru smirked with a dark expression in his eyes.

“Well, I’m not the usual breed of Roshi’s students and I have my own ways to deal with pests such as you,” Tohru declared. Akkio chuckled as he began to unbutton his blue Shaolin top.
“It’s too bad we did not train with each other, it seems like we would have gotten along,” with that, the veteran student threw off his top to reveal the sleeveless top gui of Roshi’s. There appeared to be blood stained within its orange fabric.

Akkio raised his left hand upwards, craning his fingers forward as he leaned forward, his heels raised off the ground with his right hand kept close to his side.

Crane Stance, Tohru recognized. He had only seen one fighter use a stance similar to this, but this one seemed much fiercer and formidable.

Tohru stepped out into his stance, with one palm raised and extended in front, the other open palmed hand kept close at guard by his face. His fingers curled with intensity as he growled.
Akkio’s eyes seemed to light up in the moonlight, “Ah, Wolf Stance! You truly are one of Roshi’s descendants…and now that I think about it, this will be the first time that I will have killed one of them.”

There was a certain amount of glee that seemed to appear across Akkio’s face with that thought. Tohru felt an excitement rush through his body as the two warriors stared each other down atop the stone bridge, the large full moon hovering above them and lighting them with its embrace.

A gentle breeze blew between the warriors, and then, without any further hesitation, Tohru rushed forward towards his opponent.

Tohru and Akkio were quick to trade blows, with the Hybrid taking the offense with a series of hand strikes. Yet all of his strikes were simply deflected away by the swift hand movements of Akkio. Opening up the young Hybrid’s arms, Akkio sent a swift kick to his jaw. Tohru felt himself loose his balance as his body was lifted up from the force. Akkio lifted himself into the air and sent a flying kick straight into the chest of Tohru.

The Hybrid tumbled back from the force of the blow but sprang to his feet quickly, snapping himself into his signature Wolf Stance with one hand extend in front of him and the other kept close to his face. He lowered his stance, resembling a wolf about to pounce upon its prey.
The older student of Roshi’s simply smirked, unimpressed by the fighter’s stance, and raced forward so swiftly that he almost appeared to be running on air and not the cold stone of the bridge. His hands began to sway across his body in a swift fashion, almost appearing as blurs. Tohru did not want to wait for his attacking to get within range, and so he pounced off from his lower stance and raced forward.

“WOLF FANG FIST!” Tohru hollered out as he felt a powerful wolf spirit raging within him. His open palms slashed out at a now bewildered Akkio. Yet the old student held his ground, desperately deflecting each blow with his swift hands. Yet as he did, he was cut and bruised from the swipes, and eventually the old student had to cover himself with an ‘X’ block as he began to retreat backwards from the force.

Tohru clamped his paws fiercely onto Akkio’s biceps, and then swung the former student with a mighty roar over his shoulders. Akkio’s feet swung gracefully overhead and landed with a perfect stick to the ground. Akkio then extended his arms out into Tohru, and with a mighty spin, he threw the hunched over Hybrid towards the wall of the bridge. As he careened towards the stone wall of the bridge, Tohru twisted himself and planted both feet onto the wall, and then kicked off, launching himself towards Akkio. The former student was not expecting such a quick recovery from the beastly student, and thus did not see the incoming roundhouse kick. Tohru’s kick connected and nailed Akkio right in the face. The former student flew to the ground but recovered with a swift cartwheel and landed atop of one leg, the other suspended in a guard position. His two hands extended out in a crane style like stance. The left side of Akkio’s face began to swell from the impact.

Tohru chuckled as he returned to his signature Wolf Stance. He took this moment to lower his breathing, allowing himself to recover. A small smirk appeared across Akkio’s face.

“You’re quite adept at hand to hand combat, but how is your ki skill?” the former student inquired.

Tohru’s expression betrayed him for just a moment, and Akkio’s smirk grew wider.

“Ah I see, well then, it looks like that may be the deciding point of this battle,” Akkio stated.
With that, Akkio twisted his arms to one side, his hands craning around an invisible orb. He planted his one suspended leg onto the ground and shot his hands forward, crying out “DODONPA!”

A large yellow beam flew from his extended hands. Its bright light lit up the dark bridge as it sailed towards Tohru at a high speed. The Hybrid just barely dodged the blast with a side roll. Pieces of granite flew over his shoulders as the blast erupted into the wall of the bridge.
Tohru kept his eyes locked onto Akkio. The former student was snickering as he folded both hands behind his back. His eyes began to glow with a dark red light.

Oh shit, Tohru thought as he began to get ready to move.

However, in an instant two long red beams flew from Akkio’s eyes and instantly connected with a small explosion upon Tohru’s chest. The Hybrid growled out in pain as he stumbled backwards. With his eyes still glowing a blood red, Akkio shot another beam from his eyes and connected across Tohru’s right thigh. The Hybrid fell to his knee in pain, both his chest and thigh steaming with smoke.

Akkio’s snickering morphed into a proud laughter as he began to fire a series of beams from his eyes upon the Demonic Hybrid. Tohru brought his arms up in an ‘X’ and tucked his knees close to his stomach as he braced for the beams. He was absolutely engulfed in an explosion of eye lasers, his mind almost blanking out from the intense pain.

Eventually the pain stopped, and Tohru found himself covered in smoke. His brown karate gui ripped and torn, bloody marks covered his tattered body. As the smoke cleared, Tohru could not find the fighter.

Suddenly there was a cry from above him, and as he glanced up, Tohru was kicked straight in the nose by an extended flying kick from Akkio. The Hybrid flew back and cracked his head against the stone wall of the bridge. He felt a warm moisture leak down across the back of his skull and down to his neck. He stumbled to get to his feet but quickly fell back down on his rump.
Through his blurred vision, he saw Akkio extend his hands out in a similar fashion to what he did with the ‘Dodonpa’ blast. He twisted his arms to his side as he lowered into a deep stance. Due to his Sense ability, Tohru was able to tell that this blast was becoming more powerful than the earlier ‘Dodonpa’.

Akkio gave a sneered expression towards Tohru, “Since you gave me the best fight I’ve had in years, I’ll give you the honor to die by our Master’s legendary signature technique!”

He can’t mean… Tohru hastily thought.

“Kaaa…meee…haaa…meee…” Tohru could hear the former student chanting as energy semed to swirl into the orb cupped by his hands. A brilliant blue light illuminated from the orb.

…aw…major shit…

“HAAAAA!!!” Akkio cried out as he threw his hands forward, carrying the orb with them and sending a large wave of energy flying towards Tohru.

The blue light blinded Tohru, and then all he could feel was intense pain, right before he blacked out.

Tohru was covered in blackness. There was no sound, no sight, only the feeling of cool water brushing up against his side.

...Unleash it…

That voice...it was so familiar…

Unleash it…

It spoke again, and this time it summoned up a wave of anger. The voice belonged to a Demon known as Kang, the man who had killed Tohru’s father.

You will never defeat me, if you do not give in to your other half…

Tohru suddenly began to feel his heart beat slowly, but with each beat it was a massive pounding.

…Your true half…

His heart was now racing, he began to feel a wave of anger take over him. The blackness all around him began to fade, and the Hybrid could make out the stars in the sky above. The large full moon above him, illuminating the dark night with its rays, Tohru could also see the bridge above him where he and Akkio had fought.

He found himself lying the bank of a river, his body aching all around him. Despite the pain, he managed to get up. His heart still racing, pounding against his chest so fiercely that it seemed to want to escape. This was something similar to what he had as a kid, when his demon side began to want to come out.

Tohru remembered his old master’s words, to control it. ‘Don’t let it control him’, his master would instruct him. Yet the anger over his defeat to not just Akkio, but to Kang himself, seemed to wash over his master’s teachings.

Tohru hunched over in pain, barely able to contain the rising demonic aura that now began to emit from his body.

UNLEASH IT!

Tohru’s head shot up, roaring out with fangs extruding from his jaw. His muscles clenched and tightened as his aura powered him up, sending waves into the riverside. The Hybrid then blasted upwards into the starry sky, he could sense his opponent was still near. He flew off in that direction, anger controlling his every thought.

I’M GOING TO KILL HIM! I’LL RIP HIM APART, LIMB FROM LIMB! I’LL KILL HIM! these thoughts raced through his mind.

Akkio was walking across the barren landscape. His arms beaten and torn, his face swelling with a large bruise; he had not received a beating like this in a long time. His training with Roshi, though years ago, had given him a high advantage over most of his opponents. So perhaps it was only fitting that another of Roshi’s students were to be the one that do this to him.

The man formerly known as Tohru truly possessed Roshi’s discipline. His strikes were hard, his force unrelenting. Though he was still quite green, and amateurish in his aggression, Tohru definitely proved himself to have been worthy of training under Roshi.

It was these thoughts that brought Akkio back to his former years of training with the old hermit himself. Meal-less days filled with torturous exercises and contests, his master’s old wicked sense of humor, and the pride that came when he would eventually master a technique. This warm feeling of nostalgia also seemed to stir up a wave of anger within the fighter.

He was a fool! He created one of the most deadliest of fighting styles, yet never used it to its true advantage! I was his true successor, he should have realized that! I took his style forward and used it to challenge the world’s greatest martial artist! True, I may have killed many man, and perhaps some innocent men, but it was all done to prove the effectiveness of my master’s teachings! Akkio’s fingernails dug into his clenched fists as he continued walking, That old man is simply short sighted! Those weaker than me deserve to die! I was proving that I was truly the most powerful martial artist in the world, and I did so to honor him! That ungrateful old bast-

Akkio spun around sharply as he suddenly sensed a high power level flying towards him. His thoughts scrambled as he searched for who it could be. Then, suddenly, No…it can’t be…
A purple aura engulfed figure then landed before Akkio, a familiar brown gui that was torn apart was dressed over him. Akkio was absolutely appalled.

“It can’t be…you survived the ‘Kamehameha’!?” Akkio questioned.

Tohru’s was brimming with his demonic energy, his demon blood now pumping through his body in full force. He snarled as he glared at Akkio.

Akkio seemed taken back by the sudden change in appearance of Tohru. The fighter was now more beastily looking, certainly not a human.

That must explain it Akkio assured himself as he smiled towards his returned opponent.
“So, you’re not of this world eh? Well, that explains why you survived the ‘Kameha Wave’, but I doubt there is a species in existence that can withstand two of them!” Akkio extended his arms out in his crane stance as he suspended a leg up in guard.

Tohru knew the man was probably right, he couldn’t risk taking on another Kamehameha full force again. He also knew that he would have to give in completely to his demonic side, allow it to consume him. It was the only way.

The hybrid lowered himself down as he chambered both arms by his side, summoning up all of his ki as the purple aura swirled around him like a twisting.

Tohru roared out, “I’m not going to be beaten by the likes of you again!”

With that, the Hybrid blasted forward with such incredible speed that caused Akkio to simply flinch. The former student was nailed across the face with a powerful right hook. Akkio groaned out in pain and shock as he flew towards the ground, only to be pulled back as Tohru grasped tightly onto one of his legs.

His world was blurred as Akkio was spun around viciously. Tohru then threw the Crane Style Fighter high up into the air. Akkio flipped and twisted until he caught himself in the air with his Bukujustu technique. As he was recovering, Tohru launched himself into the air and swerved up overhead of Akkio. The former student turned to face him to see Tohru launching forward, the full moon towering above him as he howled out, “WOLF FANG FIST!”

Tohru’s image appeared to be that of a ferocious wolf as he sent a fury of hand strikes upon Akkio. The combo was so quick and powerful that the Crane Fighter wasn’t able to defend himself as effectively as he had done before in his fight with the Hybrid. Tohru finished the combo by sending both fists directly into the torso of the former student with such impactful force that it sent Akkio crashing down to the grassy floor below.

Blood coughed out of Akkio’s mouth as he smacked against the ground. Through pain twitching eyes, Akkio saw the demonic warrior flying down towards him. The Crane Style Fighter quickly rolled out of the way and then forced himself to return to his feet as the Hybrid crashed down into the ground with an extended leg, creating a nicely sized crater in the ground.

“DIE YOU BASTARD!” Akkio spoke through blood covered lips as he launched several eye beams towards the demonic hybrid. Tohru was encased in explosions and smoke.

Akkio then lowered into a wide stance as he cupped both hands by his hip, “Time to finally die young one!” Roshi’s former student began to chant the words of ‘Kamehameha’ as he powered up his devastating attack.

The smoke encasing Tohru suddenly blew outwards as the Hybrid launched upwards. His open palms forward an ‘X’ across his face as he rose up. With the full moon behind him, Tohru snapped his open palms forward and launched himself with his demonic Aura towards Akkio.

“Wolf Fang Fist!” Tohru cried out once again.

“HA! Is that the best you can honestly do!? Because it’s no match for the Kamehameha Wave!” Akkio cried out.

Suddenly however, a white wolf seemed to leap over Tohru’s back. It was a large wolf image than before, and its fangs drooled with hunger as it raced leapt towards Akkio.
The Crane Style student gasped in surprise, but then fired forth his Kameha towards the wolf. The image of the white wolf was engulfed with the blue wave of the large energy blast, but it seemed to almost fade away as if it was a ghost.

Akkio suddenly realized what this technique truly was as soon as he saw Tohru’s body right before him, crouched down underneath the blasting wave.

I-Illusion Wolf…?!

Tohru roared as he sent a series of fierce palm strikes across the chest of Akkio. With each blow he could hear the bones cracking and the organs splitting open. Tohru sent a devastating uppercut into the stomach of Akkio, lifting the sleek fighter completely off of the ground. Pulling his other arm back, Tohru shot in forward straight into the sternum of Akkio, hearing a loud cracking noise as blood spewed from Akkio’s mouth.

The Crane Style fighter tumbled among the ground helplessly before coming to a rest atop his stomach. Blood leaked from his mouth as he struggled to breath. He could feel his organs shutting down from the intense beating.

Tohru felt a tremendous sense of exhaustion overcome his body. His arms went numb as he fell to his knees. His purple demonic Aura fading away into the starry night as Tohru’s demonic fangs seemed to retract back.

He had used such a tremendous amount of energy that he was now wasted. Tohru had gone far beyond his limit, and now he had nothing left.

Fortunately however, that was enough. Akkio seemed to try to move, but could only must up a twitch or two. His eyes seemed to focus in on something in the distance.

“…M-Master…” Akkio muttered. And suddenly, his blood spluttering breathes ceased, and the legendary student of Roshi’s died.

Tohru breathed heavily as he allowed the coolness of the night to overtake him. He eventually regained feeling in his arms, and was able to muster up enough strength to stand up. He walked over to the deceased student and leaned him over, ripping off the Kame Symbol on the fighter’s orange sleeveless gui. The symbol was covered in Akkio’s blood.

“This should be proof enough…” Tohru spoke softly. With that, the Hybrid turned and began to walk away from the battlefield. Had had proven himself once more in battle, and was now ready for another challenge.
