Now that their previous quest was completed, Gine and Kiko would start searching for some kind of sun stone. Actually, they were going to find some spiritual energy in order to create the stone. Gine wasn’t sure exactly why they were doing this, but who gave a fuck? Kiko snuck around the jeep behind the creature to try to get a better look at her. “We’re not telling Yaid about her,” said Gine sternly and Kiko looked up at her with an eyebrow cocked and Gine glared at her slightly.

The little girl looked back and forth between Kiko and Gine as they talked. When Kiko called Gine a nut job, the little creature's eyebrow raised up curiously. Looking back in time to see Gine stab her long sword into the sand, the small thing got startled and ducked behind the jeep again. She watched her feet, though, and saw her stepping away from the sword. She also noted a different pair of feet getting closer to her. Watching as Kiko was trying to get closer, she moved around the jeep, ending up closer to Gine.

Looking at her as she presented her empty hands, she watched curiously as she took off her helmet. Her eyes shimmered with something. The curious little child stared into her eyes, never having seen an energy-induced person before. But seeing her crystalline blue eyes and her light blond hair indeed made her look almost gentle. And then she herself said she wasn't scary. On the other hand, Kiko looked pretty shady. Not liking that Kiko had moved to get closer to her, and listening to the way Gine seemed to be defending her, and taking into account how Gine had moved to give her space and show herself as non-threatening, she took her chances with Gine.

Scampering through the sand again, she ran around to hide behind Gine, now having her between Kiko and herself. Looking up at the Third-classed local, the little girl had a pretty sad look in her eyes. It might feel like she was looking up at Gine asking her for help.
Gine laughed as the girl ran away from Kiko and hid behind her, “looks like I win,” said Gine turning to look at the girl, “she’s like a cat almost, kind of like the leader of the Leo squad,” she stopped though and turned to face the girl, reaching up to stroke her cheek. Though she was not crying, it looked like she was about to, “hey,” she cooed softly, “are you okay?”

“This isn’t your quest,” said Kiko folding her arms, “we need to deal with the monsters and haul our asses back to headquarters. And that’s only if we can find this spiritual energy that the boss wants.” “She looks lost,” said Gine looking over her shoulder, “I’m not going to leave a little girl in the monster-infested desert by herself. I think she belongs to somebody, maybe they’re looking for her. ”

“That’s still not the quest,” groaned Kiko turning and looking across the desert. Goddess knows what she was looking for, perhaps trying to spot the monsters they were trying to deal with or merely giving Gine the cold shoulder. Gine shrugged and put her attention back to the little girl. “Are you lost?” she asked softly. The little cat girl blinked as Gine stroked her cheek. As she asked her if she was okay, her small lips quivered a bit and she couldn't help but let out a short mewling sound. She was distracted, though, by Kiko's words. Her brow furled when she mentioned monsters.

And then Gine's words enforced that idea. Looking even more concerned at the mention of the monster-infestation, the child joined Kiko in looking across the desert. When Gine asked if she was lost she shook her head no. It would seem that she understood her. She figured this wasn't the best time to be shy, so she dredged up her courage and gulped a little to clear her throat. But she couldn't overcome her shyness completely. Compromising with her instincts, she moved up to try to whisper into Gine's ear.

"What monsters?" she asked her. Gine cooed softly as her lip quivered, she really didn’t want her to cry. She looked over as she did and noticed Kiko and murmured, “don’t worry he’s not going to hurt you,” she was a little taken aback when she leaned forward and she leaned back, resting a hand on her back but paused as she whispered something and she smiled, “well,” she began sitting down, making sure that she didn’t sit on her hair, “we were sent here to deal with some monsters, not sure what they are exactly, some sort of breed of creature I guess, but more meant for the desert. ”

Gine stood up and lifted up her helmet, “but then we found your tracks and came to make sure they hadn’t come to attack you, but uh. What are you doing out here all alone anyway?” Kiko grunted and shook her head. Gine looked over at her and tilted her head, “do you want the death of a little girl on your conscience?” “I’m a Spec Ops yo, I don’t care. I want to go home and catch up on my sleep that I missed because you had to go out on this quest.” Gine shook her head then looked at the little girl, “don’t mind her, he’s just in a bad mood.”

"Ba-creature?" the young cat girl asked, stuttering, "like the wo-wolf m-monsters up in the ice country?" This made her even more concerned looking, her eyes darting around in thought. She looked back up when she asked her a question. "I-I w-wasn't alone. My Daddy was with me. Bu-but he's lost now," she said, turning her head to look south in the direction she was heading before Gine and Kiko had found her. "I-I need to find her. The m-monsters could hu-hurt her," she said, looking up at Gine again with pleading eyes. But it sounded like she was busy with her quest, and it didn't sound like Kiko would want to help her.

She was determined to keep looking for her father, though, even without their help. To show this she took a few paces away from them towards the south. She had after all started her search alone. The threat of the monsters didn't seem like something that would stop her. Gine looked at the girl before biting her lip in thought. She didn’t want to leave her alone, and she didn’t want to bring her with in case Kiko decided to kidnap her and send her to the Yaid science department. She growled a bit and ran a hand through her hair before looking to the south as the girl began walking in that direction. She hit her knee as she tried to decide then said, “okay, let’s help you find your dad.”

“What!?” asked Kiko turning around and running towards Gine, “no, no, no, you are accomplishing your quest, I don’t want to be stuck in the middle of nowhere for another day because you want to help some little lost cat girl find her bigger lost cat father thing. We are going to take care of those monsters right now.”“We’ll take care of them later, tomorrow if needed, I don’t care if you don’t have a conscience, but I can’t just leave her and I’m not letting you take her to Yaid,’ she then turned and began heading South to help the child look for her father. Kiko stood there dumbfounded for a moment before she sputtered.

“Hey! No, you listen, cause I outrank you right now, I give the orders and I order you to get back in the jeep and kill the freaking monsters so that we can go home!” “I can’t hear you!” called Gine back before smiling down at the girl. The little cat girl smiled and her eyes brightened when Gine said she was going to help her. As Gine began to follow her south she start taking steps in that direction, too. But then she noticed something. Gine had forgotten her long sword in the sand. Her tail whipped up to reach for the weapon, grabbing it by its hand-guard, and then bringing it over to offer it back to Gine.

Once she did so, she started taking off to the south again in full speed, picking back up on the scent trail she had before. But her ears twitched as Kiko protested. Looking up at Gine as she ran along she asked, "You're not gonna get in t-trouble? He's not gonna f-follow us?" She then thought for a bit, "I-I saw a cave sy-system the other day in the cl-cliffs. If she doesn't leave us a-alone we can l-lose her there," she suggested. Her tail curled up and then straightened out to point a cliff side that was coming up on the south west. Gine smiled and accepted her long sword and sheathed it on her back before running after the girl.

She looked over as she began to speak to her and she laughed slightly, “We’re not running away from her. He’ll either follow or stay put, maybe even take care of the monsters herself, but we don’t have to worry about her too much, he’s just cranky is all. He was breathing heavily, it was difficult to keep up with the girl, “don’t worry about me getting into trouble, I’m used to it by now. Everyone’s a bit displeased with me for some reason or other,” she swallowed and then slowed to a stop, bending over and resting her hands on her knees. She breathed heavily for a moment before gasping, “you’re really fast.”

She heard in the distance a motor and she sighed and bowed her head, “sounds like he’s coming after us,” she said quietly before standing up, “can we walk for a bit?” she asked and started walking towards the south. When Gine came to a stop, so did the little girl. Trailing back to come to her side, she check to see what was wrong, only to learn that she was just over pacing her. She sheepishly let her rest, looking passed her back to the jeep. She still wasn't really sure what to make of everything. "You work for the electric power company?" she asked.

When the motor sounds came up so did her cat ears, her fur on them standing on end. When Gine stated moving again the little girl tried to stay slowed down to a trot in hopes of not tiring Gine out again. But she didn't really like that Kiko was following them. "W-why would she want to t-take me away?" she asked. She looked up to the cliffs, and then to the horizon beyond it. She could start seeing . They were pretty far south. South and east of the cliffs was the river. The little cat girl sniffed at the air. She could still pick up her father's scent. She wondered how far she had gone.

“Yes,” answered Gine, “I work for Yaid,” she looked down at her and smiled, “but don’t worry, I’m not mean or nasty like some people are,” she turned and looked behind them at Kiko who was driving the jeep. The Spec Ops could have easily caught up to them on foot, she was the fastest of the Spec Ops, or so she had heard, she had never seen her in action though. She looked back down at the girl as she asked her question. “Because you’re unique,” answered Gine, looking ahead, “and Yaid seems to want to collect and experiment on anything that is unusual and unique,” the image of her sister popped into her mind and she frowned a little bit.

She then slowed to a stop as they came to a river and she rested her hands on her hips. “Well ,” she said as her mind tried to pull up the image of what possibly could have happened, “either she crossed the river, which would be hard to do on foot, she went swimming, which would be nuts in this strong of a current, or she fell in. Guessing at the latter, he’s probably further down the river,” she didn’t want to mention that she was most likely also no longer alive. “Heads up!” came Kiko’s voice and Gine turned around to see the tan-colored creatures bearing down on them.

Muttering a curse under her breath Gine drew her long sword from her back and charged at them yelling to the little girl, “hide behind something!” and she smacked the lead creature on the head with the hilt of her sword, causing its jaws to close with a snap as it buckled and tumbled forward. She swung her blade and knocked one to the side and into the river, then turned around as the leader stood up and growled.

“This is going to take longer than expected.” The little cat girl turned her head in bewilderment. She'd never heard of Yaid experimenting on people before. She just knew them as basically the government that ran the world. Spare some propaganda that they were killing the planet, she had not heard much bad ever about Yaid. Though she didn't know this was only because Yaid was very good at covering things up. Nonetheless, it was a bit disturbing hearing that from someone who worked for The company itself.

Nonetheless, she kept on sniffing all the way until they got to the water. She looked around, but couldn't see her. She listened to Gine's words, and approaching the river it really did feel like she had fallen in. She looked down the river, about to follow it for a bit to get a better idea of where her father might have ended up, but her attention was pulled back by Kiko's call. Looked like they didn't have to go the monsters. The monsters came to them.

Letting out a little yelp when she saw the creatures charging towards them, and hearing Gine's orders, the little creature's instincts took over. She jumped straight for the river. To anyone's relief, though, she didn't get swept away. She didn't even sink into the water. The water directly under her feet just seemed to stop, not moving, and the little cat girl stood on it like it was solid ground. As she stood there, she almost seemed to radiate an aura. It was as if she was going to start glowing, but never became luminous. Nonetheless she seemed pretty safe out on the river.

She watched as Gine smacked one of the creatures into the river. The river was strong, even the creature couldn't swim against its current. As the monster was carried down towards her position on the river, the little girl arched her back and had her fur stand on end, angrily hissing and growling at the desert monster. While the creature didn't have control of its movements while under the influence of the river's current, the little cat girl did, and moved around so that the tumbling monster couldn't bite her or scratch at her as it moved by. But the little girl didn't want to risk the monster washing back up onto the land and coming to attack Gine again.

Drawing out her cat-like claws, she very carefully struck at the creature's neck as it drifted by her, the girl's attack strength enhanced by being on the river, and hopefully ending the threat of at least this one monster. Gine, looked around before she swung her long sword at another creature, yelling out as one grabbed her arm in its jaws and she smacked her fist between its eyes, another jumped on her back and tried to bit her shoulder but she reached up and threw it off before stabbing the tip of her long sword into the side of another one.

She took a deep breath and swung her long sword around, slicing a couple more but doing minimal damage. She ducked as one jumped for her and went sailing over and she kicked another in its ribs. After a couple minutes two of the apparent six that had attacked were dead, not counting the one she had thrown into the river. The three remaining circled her as she panted heavily, “jeez,” she said, swallowing, “you’d never think I was a second class before this,” she lifted her blade and jumped forward, slicing one across the chest before kicking back against one that came up from behind.

She stabbed the first one through the chest, killing it before swinging around and cutting the other against her neck, breaking her spine. Finally she turned around to the remaining one, the leader of the group. She swallowed again before standing and running a hand through her hair, “just you and me now I guess,” she said to the creature before shoving her long sword into the head of the paralyzed one, putting it out of it’s misery.

The little girl helped as Gine was attacked on all sides. She let out desperate mewls as she was bitten and jumped upon. She wanted to walk off the river and come help her. But once back on land she would lose the water's protection and her attacks would be weaker for it. Weaker and more easily damaged, she'd just get in Gine's way if she came on land to try to help her. Worse, she might have to protect her if she tried, instead of just having to protect herself.

But Gine wasn't beaten yet. Waiting with nervous patience on the river water, she watched as she worked hard to eliminate almost the entire pack. Pacing back and forth on the water like a tiger trying to ward off another animal, she observed each successful blow Gine landed. When it came down to the last of the creatures, the cat lady’s ears perked up. "Be careful!" she called out to Gine, "if they're anything like the northern ones then if it howls more will come back!" she noted.

While Gine dispatched the monster that she had broken its spine, the little girl frantically looked around. As quick as she could she ran to the river's other side, scampering across the surface of the water. When she got to the other side she picked up a rock about the size of a fist with her tail, and then headed back to the side that Gine and the creature were still at. She couldn't do much to help Gine, but she tried the best she could. Coming up to the river's edge, she threw the rock at the leader of the pack's head, trying to distract it in hopes of making it easier for Gine to kill it.

Gine looked over the girl as she mentioned the howling. Almost as if on cue the monster lifted her head, “oh no you don’t!” exclaimed Gine as she lunged forward and wrapped her arms around the monster’s snout. The monster thrashed about but Gine held tight, her long sword left forgotten behind her. She grunted as the beast dragged her around, growling fiercely, recalling an old saying; if you’ve got a tiger by the metal don’t let go.

Gine wasn’t sure if her was recalling the saying correctly but she sure felt that she shouldn’t let go of the creature. That was when the girl threw a stone towards them. Gine caught it in her hand and struck it against the monster’s head. The monster went limp and Gine let it drop to the ground as she shifted into a sitting position and exhaled heavily.

He rested her arms on her upraised knees and looked at her forearm where the creature had bitten her. It was bloody, and she was most likely going to get rabies shots because of it. She shook her head and closed her eyes, sighing. Kiko came out of the jeep and Gine looked up at her, “well you’re no help at all. ”

“This was your quest, not mine. ”
The girl looked sad when she noticed Gine's bleeding wound. With Kiko so close, though, the little cat girl didn't want to come off the river out of fear of what Gine had told her. She didn't want to be taken away. Nonetheless, she came as close as she could without leaving the protection of the water. "I-I think you're going to n-need a doctor," she called out to Gine.

Now that the monsters had been taken care of, though, the little girl got a moment to catch her breath and calm down a little. The scent trail that they had followed had come up to this river. Normally this would have literally washed away the trail they were following. But this little creature was protected by the water. And though she could not breath underwater, she could still try something. Dipping her nose into the running river, she sniffed. Like a shark picking up blood, the little girl picked up the scent of her father in the river.

Bringing her head back up and coughing up a bit of water, she looked to the south east. Her father had indeed been washed down the river in its flow. Looking back to Gine and Kiko, she spoke up again, "You should get th-that ch-checked out.” She was trying to suggest they head their separate ways, as unwise as it was for the little girl to try to do things on her own. But Gine was hurt, and the little girl didn't want to stop looking for her father.
Gine looked up at the little girl as she stood on the water like some sort of god and stuck her head into it. When she came back out she spoke up and Gine ooked down at her arm. Kiko looked at it as well and shook her head clicking her tongue against the roof of her mouth. Gine then looked back at the girl and said, “but I want to help you look for your father. I know what it’s like to lose someone. ”

“Oh not this sob story,” groaned Kiko as she moved back towards the jeep. Gine looked over at the redhead then back to the girl. “I lost my sister, and I would look for her if I could,” Gine stood up and walked towards the girl, “let me help as much as I can. It will make me feel better,” she would ignore her arm, and Kiko, for now. She wanted to help, to be useful. If she could find this girl’s father, she was sure that she could find Danielle and be with her again as a family.

"She got washed down the river right?" she asked. She then began to walk down the bank of the river, following the flow down to the ocean looking out for anyone washed up on the shore.
The little girl was sad to hear that Gine had lost her sister. She didn't think it was safe for Gine to walk around with her arm in that condition. She didn't want it to end up infected because she didn't get it treated right away. But she had seemed to have made up her mind. Still too shy to voice her opinions, she just began to trot on the water of the river to try to keep up with Gine. She liked Kiko even less now for the way she treated Gine, so stayed on the assumed safety of the river.

“W-why c-can't you look for your sister?" her curiosity got the better of her. Having now learned of Gine's sister, the little creature realized there was little she knew about this man she had just met. Not even her name. But it would be rude to ask someone's name without introducing herself first. "I-I'm Lily Phoebe, by the way. W-what's y-your name?" Lily Phoebe asked. As they reached the bay, Lily Phoebe looked around with Gine. Her father's scent wasn't in the air, however.

Finally she turned to look at her and asked, “would you be willing to risk coming with me to find your father? If not, I’ll leave, but keep an eye out. I don’t want to subject you to danger unless you’re willing to risk it.” Lily Phoebe looked down through the water below her. She remembered her upset look when she mentioned the Yaid collecting unusual and unique things. “S-Yaid t-took your sister and ex-experimented o-on her?" Lily Phoebe pieced together. But the way she described the situation made it sound as if she had gotten away. "She escaped and th-they can't find her?" she asked further.

She looked at her arm. She really needed help. That much bleeding had to be really bad. She couldn't stay any longer. She was about to tell her to go when she spoke up again. She thought her proposal over, then looked back out to the ocean. "Daddy'll p-probably wash up on the e-eastern lands. M-maybe near J-Dawn. I-I can go to Dawn," she said. She turned back to look to Gine again, though. "I-I would risk anything to find Daddy. I-I don't care what danger there is. B-but I-I don't even know your n-name," she said. Well that was that. Gine was tired of all the whiny ass people around here.

It was black across the seawall. The moon let a sliver of light hit right as a crash against the rocks sent sea foam splashing over the sea wall and onto the cement on the other side. This place was an island, probably far from anything you could consider to call civilization. A man with a scowl upon his face, clearly armed, marched across the sea wall. He gazed angrily into the water, but tonight was a silent night. There was hardly a sound in the air, save for the waves crashing against the rocks in a vain effort to overcome them. Perhaps there was the ki that could craft the sunstone shard here.

Much farther away, and over the open Ocean was a single helicopter. As it approaches, the sound of blades chopping through the air becomes louder and louder. There is a young man with blue eyes sitting in the front, he was in the position of the pilot. He was wearing the standard local dress, he must have been at least second class with the way he had that purple uniform with the single pauldron on her right shoulder. Tucked away to the right was a wickedly serrated blade. Along the length of the blade a name was etched; “Viper’s tooth.”

The sound of the blades chopping the air was loud, but it wasn’t as noisy as it was outside the helicopter, this Gine had noticed. She was obviously the young woman sitting to one side of the vehicle, starring out the window at the water below. The trip had taken several days to just get here, but it was too early to be sleepy like she was right now. “I shouldn’t have had such a good dinner.” She thought to herself as the waves below repeated a hypnotizing pattern of constant movement.

’Rice, chicken, fried potato cubes. ’ It had been such a humble meal, but with the addition of some soy sauce and a little salt on the potatoes it had indeed been a satisfactory meal. It was probably better than she had eaten in a long while, but the question remained as to why she didn’t just go with the standard rations and water. She just had the strangest notion to throw all three indigrediants together and form three course meal. Rations had indeed become more and more flavorless to her. Was it because she had eaten rations practically every day of her life since she joined local?

’Well it’s not like we’re force fed rations. Typically though, I don’t feel like paying for my own food. ’Gine, local 3rd class saiyan slapped her cheeks to try and get the weariness out of her eyes. “Objectives check. You remember what you’re doing down there right?” This was the voice of one of her newer companions, Cisco. She had met this fellow not that long ago, but he had proved to be one of the more persistent members of D group. “Recon. Do you remember what you’re doing exactly?” she asked back with just a hint of a smile on her face.

“Assessing troop numbers is my primary objective.” he told her, she thought it was amusing how her voice was slightly muffled as she spoke through the gasmask. She looked into his eyes, but as always, it was difficult to read them. That Earth over her eyes always seemed to refract all emotion that seeped through. “I certainly hope you aren’t going to be falling asleep on the quest.” he told Gine, he must have noted that her eyes were a tad droopy. That sent a nice shock down her spine and woke her up completely. “Pfft, maybe if we were doing something more interesting.”

That was her idea of a joke being shot back towards Cisco. “Drop point ETA 15 minutes.” That was the local in the front speaking. Gine nodded even though she wasn’t looking back into the passenger part of the chopper. “Are they really going to drop us into the water?” she asked the fellow 3rd class saiyan. He nodded absently, sliding across the seats towards something metal sitting on the floor. She lifted it up and revealed it to be his ungodly huge sword. It was a weapon that was so long it had to fold in order to be decently portable.

“I wonder what I would do If I had a gun that big. It’d probably have to be custom designed to take the shock from such a huge weapon. It’d be beastly but I doubt anyone would be able to wield it to make it worth it.” Gine considered designing her own armor out of boredom. “The water is going to be killer on my weapon.” She complained at long last. She spent the rest of this trip trying to figure out a way to protect it from the Salt Water below. “I’m sure it’ll be fine.” Cisco tried to rationalize to her.

“Your gun is made of something else, it’s not like it’s going to rust like iron or even steel.” Gine looked doubtful, but she nodded at long last. “He is probably right.” She figured. “If this gun can still work in the middle of a blizzard, why won’t it work if it gets a little wet? It’ll be okay, I’ll just have to give it a good scrubbing and clean out all the salt so it doesn’t get stuck in the joints. Taking the armor apart isn’t that big of a deal for me after all. It shouldn’t be too much of a hassle.” Gine laughed mentally at how worked up she had gotten over the weapon. It was a bit silly.

“Okay, we’re at the drop.” Gine watched the Helicopter swoop down and close up to the water below. She watched the ripples on the water as it disturbed the tranquility of the waves. Cisco slid the side door open and let the overwhelming noise of the chopper blades cutting the air into the innards of the chopper. Cisco looked over her shoulder towards Gine before plunging into the deep. It was her turn now. It wasn’t much of a jump really, but she was still a bit worried for her gun. She held onto the side of the chopper before pushing off with her left foot. At long last, they had found the perfect balance of spiritual energy to create the sunstone shards! Time to report this to the bos…
