[Continued from the end of the battle against the Highwaymen]

Beep... Beep... Beep!..

The sounds of the equipment gradually became louder and clearer. The pod the almost lifeless man occupied was silent and dark. The laboratory was barely lit as a few lights flashing in several different rhythms. The operating table had a few scraps of metal, wires and lubricants laid across its flat top. Long mechanical arms hung from the ceiling with various power tools attached to their ends. They were somewhat retracted up into the air.

It seemed whatever work had been completed was fairly fresh. The air was still with not a person or being in sight. Helios stood at an eighty degree incline in his pod marked, “Recovery 1”. He was inactive. His body showed no damage or stress from his most recent battle against the mystery men. It was lucky for him to even have a body to salvage as he was not a pretty sight just a handful of days ago. His body was rattled with holes, cracks in his exoskeleton, exposed and severed wires, and internal infrastructure damage. A regular human might have been Swiss cheese.

This man was no ordinary human. The conversation after his shutdown fell upon his deaf ears, but it seemed his own master, Kami knew he was an android. The two mysterious fighters knew as well, while Helios himself was and is completely ignorant to his own background.

The electrocardiograph continued to beep as it monitored his heart beat. The waves of light were almost hypnotizing as it pulsated down and up. Just in a mere instant it doubled its speed. The machine began to become overwhelmed as the warnings buzzed. On the inside of the pod Helios’ body spasm. His eyes flickered like the wind turning pages of a book. He was not restrained so his movements became erratic. The pod door took low powered strikes from his hands and feet. Light began to emit from the ten inch diameter viewing window.

The sudden unconscious tantrum ended as quickly as it began. The beats per minute slowly dropped. The movement settled inside of the pod as his perfectly straight position was not a few degrees off. The machine was hot but did not overheat or shutdown. A dream perhaps? Maybe the recall of the recent battle shook him up? That was unknown but for the moment he lay still as he did three minutes ago.

Forty one hours later.

The pod unlocked and opened, slightly. The sealed air rushed out into the lower pressured laboratory atmosphere. The door pumped and unhinged from the bottom as it lifted straight up. The pressured air left behind a coat of smoke as if he were frozen. The cold and warm air mixed together and swirled away in a ghostly mist.

“Mr. Helios. Ryuad. Rune. Sirat. Please, wake up,” the robotic voice announced through small speakers inside the pod. “Mr. Helios. Ryuad. Rune. Sirat. Please, wake up,” the voice called again.

This time it caught the auditory sensors inside Helios’ inner ear. His eyes shot open wide as he immediately leaned forward and looked around. He was not clear as to where he was. He looked down upon his hands and body to see that he was cleaned up. No damage was to be found on his naked body. His musculature was that of a seasoned professional body builder. Every muscle could be seen in grand detail. A few well-hidden yet slightly noticeable panels and bolts were viewed. His eye sight was much better than your average person.

He grasped the edges of the pod with both hands and pulled himself forward. He stepped and stumbled out of the pod. The raised lip at the bottom was just above the altitude of his right foot. As he regained his balance a large metal door opened up. The light in the background shadowed the figure as they approached. Helios’ vision changed from normal to a thermal grid. It scanned and clicked onto the figure. Object unknown! In self-defense he readied himself for battle once again.

“Oh, Mr. Sirat you have awoken. Thank goodness! I have been visiting every day for a week to see if you were all healed up,” a familiar voice echoed in the laboratory. “Let’s not waste too much time, Master Kami wants to see you,” the voice of Mr. Popo spoke out. “Here, take my hand.”

Helios took Mr. Popo’s hand and suddenly he blacked out.

The time on the Earth world was just before the moon reached its peak height in the atmosphere. Half of the world was fast asleep while the other half were fully awake. Kami’s Tower glistened from the moon’s presence. The clouds were joined together nice and tight just beneath. A sudden bullet popped out from the top of the clouds. The break through stretched itself out like an arm reaching for the stars. Mr. Popo and the still naked Helios rose up on a flying carpet.

The elder Namekian guardian stood with his staff in his left hand with his right hand behind his back. He remained awake for the arrival of Mr. Popo and Helios. As they cruised in for a soft landing, Kami walked out of the corridor entrance to meet the two.

“Mr. Popo, how was the recovery?”

“It was good. Helios was out of the recovery pod before I arrived. He seemed not one hundred percent just yet as you can see. He blacked out as soon as I reached him. Thankfully the hidden laboratory of Dr. Gero was still unoccupied.”

Kami delivered a nod in response. “Let us take him inside. We will fill him in when he awakes.”

“Very well,” Mr. Popo softly replied with a slight bow.

Mr. Popo stepped off of the carpet and it rose up to hip height. He scooped the deceptively heavy android up to carry him to his room below the surface of the tower.

The next afternoon.

Helios’ eyes calmly peeled open. His eyes rolled left, right, down then up and back forward. Without any leverage his hip hinged. His torso elevated as he sat straight up in the bed that was just big enough to for his body. It was a twin mattress by Earth human standards.

“Ah! Helios, you have awoken. How are you feeling?” Mr. Popo asked from a chair near his bedside.

“I feel fine, Mr. Popo. May I ask why I am in this bed?”

“Oh! Right! Yes, I put you there after your battle against those men that attacked Kami and you.”

“I cannot remember it all. Is Master Kami safe?”

“Oh, of course, you kept the men occupied long enough for me to take Kami to safety deep inside of this tower.”

“That sounds great. Where is he?”

“He is in his study awaiting your presence. He wishes to speak with you about that day, ten days ago.”

“Ten days?! So I have been asleep that long?”

“I will let Master Kami explain everything to you. Once you are ready please join us in his study,” Mr. Popo politely spoke as he stood to his feet and left the room.

Helios followed Mr. Popo down the hall and around a few corners to reach Kami’s study. He was dressed in his usual dark grey and gold trimmed military-style attire. Everything was freshly pressed and cleaned up. No signs of battle wear whatsoever. Upon an opening in the hallway, Mr. Popo stepped to the side and reached out a hand to direct Helios into the room.

“Master Kami is right this way, Helios,” Mr. Popo politely spoke.

Helios finally made his way into the room. The Earth Guardian assistant left the two in private to speak.

“Helios, come in. Take a seat,”
Kami perked up as he laid eyes upon the fully recovered protector. “I must thank you and commend you for your bravery in fending off those mysterious rogues. Not only were you selfless and pure in your actions, you stood your ground despite their immense power. The training you have undertaken from your previous instructor, Master Roshi and I was clearly shown. Unbeknownst to you there was much more behind the attack on the tower. I cannot explain everything but the second man that joined in on the fight left something for you. It is a business card that you can swipe through a scouter. He said if you ever need friends you can scan it and get in contact with him.”

Helios was speechless. His thoughts were conflicting as to why they would attack the tower and after a relentless assault offer friendship. Kami marched towards Helios and handed him the one-eighth of an inch, navy and purple, metal square card. A ‘JL’ was embossed inside of a circle in the center of the card. Kami gave him a friendly smile and a hand atop of his shoulder.

“The most I will tell you is I knew the assailants; however, the man behind the scenario is of good nature. Please keep this card and if you are ever in need of assistance he will be someone good to contact,” Kami finished with a tiny smile.

“I do not completely understand, Master Kami, but I will hold on to this,” Helios replied still baffled about the whole situation. Not everything was explained so the holes left in the story kept him imagination entertained. “I greatly appreciate the assistance in my battle recovery, but… How can I manage to defend anyone if I am not strong enough to defend myself? I have trained for some time under Kamesennin and yourself however I am still not strong enough for the potential foes out there. I have completed your trial, as well as utilized the Pendulum Room, but what other training is there?”

“It is a good thing you asked. I was going to share this with you anyone but now is the best time. There is one more place I can point you to. It is the Room of Spirit and Time. In this place you will be able to train for twenty four hours in our time, but in that room a full year will have passed. It is not for everybody and there are many that cannot last a whole day, but those that do, they can increase their power tenfold.”

“How may I gain access to this Room of Spirit and Time?”

The left side of Kami’s mouth raised up, “Right this way.”

Kami turned towards the door and led Helios out into the corridor. A short walk later they arrived at a white and gold trimmed door.

“Here we are, Helios. Again, in this room you will be able to train equivalent to a year on Earth in just twenty four hours’ time. You may enter whenever you are ready,” Kami nodded as he side stepped.

Helios gave a short nod and proceeded to the door. He grasped the handle with his left hand, paused and gave a large smile back at Kami. The handle turned and unlatched as he entered the room. The brightness inside flew past him as he entered. The door shut softly behind him. Kami placed both hands behind his back and under his cape as he walked away.

Twenty four hours later.

Kami and Mr. Popo were outside of the entrance to the Room of Spirit and Time. It was just about time for the determined man to exit from his training. The door handle moved and the hinges creaked. A controlled pull of the door allowed some light to shine through. The air from inside of the room and just outside of the door mixed together as it almost became visible.

The door fully opened as the grey haired man came through the door. His clothes were tattered and his body was damaged moderately in some areas. His facial expression was much different than when he entered. He was stern and cold as if he caught of glimpse of something beyond words of explanation.

“So, Helios, how did it go?” Mr. Popo questioned.

Helios closed the door behind him and with a small smirk softly spoke, “I had to feed the need, so to speak.”
