He smiled as his feet carried him through the dark halls, a nearby clock powered by Ki told him the time; four am. He stretched as he stopped moving, causing several of his ligaments, joints, and bones pop and shift into place, and he had to suppress the groan the rose to meet it. He was sore, and that was saying the least of it, for Kione and Aurai had been...busy to say the least. However, no one else was supposed to know about it, which is why he was moving around at four am back to his dorms with his Ki almost completely suppressed. In fact, he had to have it kept up to last several hours so that no one would notice a power as high as his just suddenly disappear off of the metaphorical map that Ki sensors used, and for an hour he had slowly but surely lowered it until he could not sense himself, and it was slow enough that he was not detected. He resumed his pace, moving at a normal speed but almost completely silent on the tiled floor that made up that hallway. He resisted the urge to crouch or bend down to reduce his profile, but the problem with that was that if he was seen, he was obviously doing something that he should not, and then it would begin. Investigations, questioning, searching, suspension….ugh. So instead, if he was caught, he could claim that he was going to the bathroom or something along those lines, and get off with less or no punishment. He mentally laughed as he shook his head, tears of mirth slipping free; Like that would work, each room, or at least mine, has a bathroom. Maybe I could claim that I was doing a midnight stroll in the gardens? That would work a lit- Before he could second guess himself, he bent at the waist and dived backward and back around the corner into a section of wall where a shadow was cast, almost claiming him in darkness. He slowly scuttled forward to the corner, bent his head, and slowly edged himself forward until he could peer around the corner. Something has caught his attention, whether it be a flicker of awareness aimed at him, Ki, or movement, it was all the same; Someone else was here, but based on no Ki signature, also sneaking around like him, and he did not like that one bit. His squinted, the almost absolute darkness fooling with his eyes, and he saw shapes that were not really there. Rubbing them slightly and suppressing a yawn, he closed his eyes and began to listen, angling his head minute degrees to better hear whatever had caught his attention. I cannot seem to find anyone but...My rooms are only several rooms away from my current position, several hundred feet at the least. From the direction and how faint that flash of attention was, that puts them at about my room. An assassin? Maybe, but I joined the school not even several weeks ago, and I have not made that many enemies but it still could be possible. Still...I need to be careful. My power is suppressed, and the way I suppressed it will take several moments to get back to my “normal.” Depending on the fight, if there is one, it will take more to get to my full, or even to transform. I am almost completely used to my body now, but thats rating it at around seventy-five percent, not accounting for my recent “activities”, fights, spars, and training. Right now, comparing myself to my full capacity for a fight, with sleep and no fatigue or anything of that sort, along with me being completely used to my body…………..Under twenty-five percent on the bright side. On the opposite end of the spectrum though, I am lucky if I am at five-no, ten percent? Wait, what- His room seemed to glow a bright red, flashing once, before the light went out. During that flash however, his Ki sense picked up on a ridiculously strong energy, even for the barest hint of a moment before it was hidden again. And it felt was malevolent, determined blood lust and destruction on whatever the owner was focusing on, probably Aurai’s decoy wrapped up in his covers like a cocoon. WC:728 |

Aurai flashed upward while bringing an arm around in the beginning of a right hook, flickered, and then stood silently, watching the bedroom. His room flashed while the ground shook, followed simultaneously by an explosion that took his doors and crushed them before chucking them into the wall located on the opposite side of the doorway. Just as fast, if not faster, a dark object flashed across the hallway as it chased the doors, creating another explosion. His room seemed to groan as the supports resisted whatever had happened before giving in and collapsing in a fiery inferno, sending a tidal wave of dust and debris barreling into the hallway before spreading out to each side and forward, following the path of least resistance. At the same time, Aurai stood up inside the inferno and grimaced, rubbing his chest where his robe used to be and revealing a black and blue bruise blossoming into existence. Right before the explosion had gone off, he had switched places with the decoy to get a look at his attacker while following through with his right hook, and smote the attacker the same time being struck in the chest by the blast. The resulting clash of energy lasted no longer than a microsecond before both discharging, destroyed the rooms and launching the occupants in opposite directions. Aurai, already on guard to tank a blast like that, was only launched a dozen feet or so back with both explosions. His opponent, completely unexpecting, was launched several dozen meters, across the hallway, and into the next room which was thankfully empty. He dusted himself, ignoring most of the heat of the flames by projecting an aura of Ki around him, sheltering him from it. It did not work completely, but it held a lot better against it since the flames were caused by Ki instead of being generated by Ki. There was a difference, albeit a small one, but still a difference. Now if he had turned his Ki into flames and then those flames had spawned more, that would be the case where he would be in trouble. Instead, these were caused by a backlash of Ki, so it was not even as close as bad. Still, the intensity and heat of these flames was pretty high, meaning three separate things; One, his opponent had a decent, if not respectable amount of Ki, somewhat close to the level he himself had put out. Two, from how much backlashed, it was enough to say that either opponent has a higher amount or they both do, but are holding a vast majority of it back. Three, the entire place will burn if he does not put an end to it. With the last thought, Aurai bunched up his arms and brought them forward as he jumped slightly, and clapped as hard as possible. The explosion of air itself from the sheer force of his clap was hard enough to cause hurricane force winds throughout the expanse of the room, shredding the flames as easily as a child knocking over their crude assortment of blocks that resembles a tower. As the shock wave itself spread outward, cracking the floor and walls in a varying assortment of spider webs that originated from below his hands, the room was flooded with darkness, leaving his vision useless for several seconds. To counter this, he began to walk forward, using his other senses to counter it while casting his mind and sense outward in a wave towards the hole that his assailant lay, but found nothing. Thinking nothing of it, he spread it outward to a distance of over a hundred meters, grinning as he searched, closing on his target. His mind found nothing and neither did his sense, puzzling him to such a great extent that he paused and could not discern the flicker of slightly-darker black on the midnight black. The blow sent him reeling to the side, actually lifting him off of his feet several inches and generating a particle of light that flickered across the inside of his eyelids, from one eye to the next before fading into nothingness. As soon as he was struck, Aurai had retracted his Ki sense back into himself, covering everything on the way back to him before he transmitted it within ten feet, but both had conclusions that were inconclusive; no one was there. BOOM. The next hit had caught him in the midsection, beneath his rib cage and ejecting the air within. As his breath started to leave, another blow had caught him in the spine, followed by two more; one on the right pectoral and the last in the throat. All in the time it took him to discharge the contents of his lungs, he had taken five blows with great force across vital areas, the last one specifically important, but he could do nothing to block or counter against it. His foe was silent, had no mind or Ki until it was released, all the while striking randomly with heavy, fast blows. At his current state of mind and level, he would probably lose this fight unless a miracle happened or he partook in drastic measures. He could not do the latter, for he was in the Academy, and the former was not going to happen with his luck. Help was not a choice either, for the only beings up were several buildings away and half asleep. Figuring no alternative, he decided on the best offense to buy time; defense. He closed his eyes and focused, ignoring the signals being sent to his brain and instead on the minute shifting in the flow of air and sound, and even on the residual energies that were fading out as they expired. When something resembled a direct line of motion in the energies, nothing changed in the flow of air and all was silent, but acting more on instinct and less on reason, he ducked. It turned out to be the right choice as something really large or powerful soared overhead, suddenly roaring into existence as the air was abruptly knocked aside, generating a vacuum and nearly deafening Aurai in the process. His hair blew backward, following the air as he lunged forward, barely sidestepping something large that demolished what remained of the floor and sending him careening through the wall and out into the courtyard. Winded by the near blow, and bruised from his exit, he struggled to his feet while opening his eyes as he sensed a change in the level of light. However small, it helped since most of his senses were at that moment, useless and more of a hindrance. What he saw made him blink in confusion; A violent swirl of shadow like energy that seemed to fade out of existence, only to appear several feet, no, meters, in a different direction. Around him, lights began to appear as the rest of the sleeping population woke from the fight, and some where already yelling obscenities as the questioned what was going on. Realizing his mistake, Aurai glanced back at his opponent to find it was gone, and a quick glance around him solidified that fact as someone stepped out of the rubble. Groaning inwardly, Aurai struggled toward headmaster Arwin, who was not looking his best in his pajamas. In fact, he looked downright pissed, and that's what made Aurai cringe. He wasn't exactly on his good side, and this well....wouldn't help his case in the slightest. WC:519 TWC: 1,979 |
