Yarru: Yan (Combat Rune, Telepathic Link) vs Juch Things had settled and plans were set. To travel! Yan had spent the day and into the evening on Juch’s ship with a very odd assortment of people. Eventually everyone moved to their beds or respected work and he was left in the front room to himself. He looked over the notebook Juch had given him, then pulled out his own more beaten one and found a blank page. He spent a few hours drawing until he dozed off right there at the table. Juch had offered him better accommodations but he’d never made yes or no of it and tonight he was simply too weary he’d run off somewhere and get distracted. So he was left quietly asleep with a page of doodles. The top of the page had the word “home” scrawled in neat handwriting. It’d be embellished a little as if he had not know where to go from there but eventually he’d continued on and filled the page with one woman. She was a younger woman, perhaps in her teens with long hair and a long nose. She was smiling, she was eating, she was looking at you suspiciously. She was no one Juch had ever come across and yet she littered the page titled Home as if she belonged there. Juch: It had been a while since everyone parted from the little get together. Juch placed the empty tea cup down onto his desk and adjusted his glasses at the packet of documents in his hands. To be absolutely truthful to himself, the android surmised that the entire experience went alright. It certainly wasn't fair for Mister Cass at all--he would be the first to readily admit. But the playing field was never even to begin with. Honestly, the answers that Juch had given...well, that was another story for another time. But on the other hand, no matter how blanketed in noise, there was still a glimpse of a more vulnerable side of the professor. Meeting Mr. Fields was already something, much less Jantellovene and Sondere. He'll be waiting for their reports--they'll have to meet sometime right before the 'field trip'. Juch's eyes wandered from the text; they had begun to glaze over. His concentration was waning. With a free hand, he brushed aside the curtain, revealing the moon glowing in the sky. Hrm. It was already that late, huh? Perhaps it'd be best to call it a day. Cleaning up his desk, the android left the room with cup in hand. It was after he locked the door behind him that he realized the sleeping form of Yan sprawled on the surface of the long dinner table. The lamp was still on--he must have fell asleep in the midst of his work. Shaking his head, Juch headed straight to one of the closets instead, retrieving a light green blanket from the top shelf. He seemed to glide in the shadows, and the blanket soon draped itself over Yan's shoulders as if of its own volition. The android was going to move on from there and head to the adjacent kitchen, but the page displayed on near Mister Cass' sleeping arms caught his attention. Juch's gaze hovered over the picture of the woman with an expressionless face. Another piece to the puzzle. Did Yan leave this here on purpose? Hrm. Someone important to him, perhaps? It was hard to tell. He looked back at the sleeping form of Yan. No matter how irritating and insolent his behavior, there was enough security in his mind to relax here. A small step at a time, Juch supposed. What a child. Yarru: Yan didn’t make a peep as Juch moved about. He moved just a little as the blanket fell on him, and it was a wonder he could be so defenseless at such a time. Did he really trust the people of this ship so much or did he really care for his life so little? He gave no hints to either even as Juch paused once more and a full moment passed before he finally said: “Now Juch, I don’t know if anyone’s told you, but standing over someone while they sleep is quite creepy.” He opened but one eye and met his gaze curiously. He did not look at all half asleep, and one could wonder if he’s actually dozed off at all and wasn’t left to pretending. “I’m not a toddler who might choke you know.” Juch: A soft snort at Yan's words was all Juch offered at the moment--he held the same expression, showing no surprise whatsoever at Yan's sudden words. Instead, he held his gaze at the open notebook for a few seconds longer before turning away and heading back to the kitchen, "You have a knack for the arts, Mister Cass," he said as a gentle stream of water from the faucet began to rinse out his teacup, "What does she mean to you?" Yarru: Yan waited a moment, then realized where the android’s eyes were sitting. He sat himself up and stretched his back not thinking a thing about it until Juch turned away and he’d realized he’d called the girl home. An embarrassed smile filled his face though his back was to Juch now. He shut the book and pulled it to himself, still feigning embarrassment, even more as he complimented him. “I keep telling people I’m an artist not a killer,” he offers, turning his head to face him when his next words came like a ton of bricks. His smile didn’t fade but instead grew awkwardly. “It says it doesn’t it?” he says then looks back down as if the book hadn’t been closed. It wasn’t something he really meant to be talking to Juch about and yet, he had drawn it, he had left it about. It wasn’t meant to be a secret either. “Home. She was the last one I had.” Nothing of his was. Juch: The sound of water flowing stopped momentarily as Yan finished his answer, and gurgled back to life momentarily, "Some artists paint with bodies, though, Mister Cass." By the time Juch had returned to the table, he set a mug of water down, pushing it in Yan's direction, his own face still expressionless. No judgements, no interjections. "And you've been drifting about ever since, huh?" he offered with a soft murmur, "And what was your last home like?" Yarru: Yan grinned a little at the thought of bodies being his art. No, he didn’t think so. He was not that sadistic. Killing was like a job, a chore, and he didn’t think any more or any less to it. He accepted the mug of water and watched the man, knowing what he’d be asking. He didn’t answer the first question, his gaze turning to the browning liquid. He had probably been drifting even with her, he probably was now. Somehow that didn’t seemed to change. He needed the light movement, constantly. “I’m not sure if I remember accurately any more,” he admits. “It’s been years. Nostalgia makes it look more beautiful than it was…” he explains before looking to Juch with a warm smile. “She was beautiful though. I knew her so deeply and yet she still caught me off guard. I was never bored. She kicked my ass and then carried me back~ A lot! It was her will I followed for a while, but it didn’t seem that way. It seemed like we were really in it together...” he explains, trailing off at the end. “Seemed,” he repeats, giving him a small sad smile. Juch: "People say that hindsight is twenty-twenty," Juch nodded, shifting the tie underneath his collar, "I wonder whether rose colored goggles would affect that sort of perfect vision." Years had passed, huh? The android could probably relate, given what he has heard about thus far. It was more of a comment than an actual question, but since Yan decided to focus on the latter point, Juch didn't push the matter either. But it seemed like the entire affair was a bittersweet memory. 'Seemed'. Such a simple word, but it spoke volumes. Something happened to rock that home, and shatter it to pieces. Juch's hands were folded as usual, but they clenched together for a brief instant upon the thought of it. Some old wounds were better left untouched until the right time--and now didn't seem like the right time, "And now you're here," the professor spoke, maintaining his soft tone, "I've been calling this my home for a while now," he gestured with his arm, not necessarily at the physical presence of the ship or the planet, but at the three others who were fast asleep in their respective rooms, "But that's the thing. Going into others' homes...there's a different smell, the spoons and garbage are not in the same place...what will it take for you to call this home as well?" What exactly are you looking for, Mister Cass? Do you even know, yourself? Yarru: Juch didn’t pry and Yan’s smile grew a little as he looked away. He wasn’t comfortable talking about it, but he didn’t actually want to be comfortable did he?. He wanted to be prodded and kept on his toes and rewarded and feel like he deserved it. He was a complicated fellow but he could not deny the relief that spread through him as the subject moved away from Shinaki Honjo. It didn’t move somewhere completely comfortable either~ Yan rested his chin in his hand and seemed to think about it. “It’s like…” He pauses again, glancing in the direction Mr. Fields had last been seen. “I’ve become a stray cat. I’ll get used to the smells, spread mine around, figure out how everything all works, get fed and then…” He trails for another moment, still not sure where he was going. He bunched his brow and looked at him with squinted eyes. “I’m not sure how to make myself comfortable.” Juch: What sort of smile did Yan hide away? Juch made no comment on it, and instead moved on digesting the concept of the redhead as a stray cat. Hrm. Mister Pickup-ee. Even you admit it as such. The corner of his lips twitched a bit, but no smile blossomed forth. Instead, he nodded and leaned back in his chair, exhaling, "If you need time, you will have as much as you need. If you need space, you will have as much as you need. The others," he nodded in the direction of the second floor, "they will play nice with you. They're more honest than me--well, all but one, I should say," a small smile finally appeared on Juch's face, "But I imagine this is something that you'll have to find on your own." Yarru: Yan listens, then raises his eyebrow at the almost taunt. He would have to see on his own, even if Juch blatantly told him who it was. That was part of his problem too. He leaned forward and took the tea in his palms carefully. “No space from you Juch. You are stuck with me remember,” he says, and it was unclear whether he meant from what he had said their first interview or simply was referring to their next set of plans. “It’s time for a road trip.” |
