Juch:
Yan (Combat Rune) VS Juch
You get used to the hum of the engines soon enough.

Bits of ash fluttered down into the glass tray below as Juch looked out the window. Grace was growing smaller and smaller by the second, the place where he had left his most important. With the way things were, they should be safe. Construction is going underway now; when he returns, there should be at least a skeleton of a home waiting for him. Things like this take time, but Juch has lived for a while now. Your perception of time changes as you mature; months do not drag out as they used to.

They'll hold the fort down. He was sure of it. They have handled themselves before. But still, it was always difficult to let them spread their own wings and fly away. Juch turned away with a sigh, before exiting out of the designated smoking lounge in the ship, with the last bit of his cigar disposed of. And now for a more troublesome case--the others, they were wild in their own way, but they managed to settle down a bit. He's been through this gambit before. But each time, it was different, and it was no exception with Mister Cass.

As for why Juch was wanted for this trip to Kelioux...well, he'll find out in due time, the android supposed. Yan was informed of which rooms that he shouldn't enter--time will tell whether or not curiosity will get the better of him. All the arrangements have been settled, and it was just the two of them on his ship on this road trip. Maybe something productive will come out of this after all. Juch sat down at the dining table, and opened up the thick tome in his hands, and began to read.
Yan Cass:
Yan never really got used to space. One would think he would after all the time he’d spent in it, including a number of months he’d been trapped in it, though that probably did him worse. He was quite liking the way Grace piloted herself to planets he wanted near and the space travel was limited to a simple and short commute. This journey would be a bit longer and he was already feeling restless. He had his books, he had his wares, he had internet, and he’d taken a whole number of supplies from Grace. It shouldn’t be too much of a problem and yet~

It was probably the lack of people. He didn’t do well for long without people. They were his best route for distraction and his own mind was petty and intolerable. On Tomoko’s mammoth of a space whale he’d spent many the time with the crew, a lot dead now, some time with Ariel, also dead now, and many a meal with Kaiya. It was a bit most boisterous than the little mission they’d put together, and even though it was his own plan he felt unsure. Minutes alone with himself could do that.

He lit his own cigarette, ignoring any idea of a lounge and took a small puff as he glanced out at the retreating planet. That was that. He pushed himself up and headed to where he would normally find Kaiya, towards the kitchen and dining area and was almost surprised to see Juch. Didn’t he have a study for such things? Was he trying to be social? He leaned in the doorway, taking another absent drag and seemed content to watch the man.
Juch:
Juch's ship was certainly on a much smaller scale compared to Tomoko's, in terms of both crew and physical size. The interior looked more like what you would see in the the suburbs than an actual functioning warship. However, without Mister Fields, Jantellovene, or Sondere, the energy of the get together had dissipated long ago, and it didn't seem like the android minded the void. Juch turned another page in his tome, and without looking up, spoke, "Has anyone told you that watching another person read is also quite creepy, Mister Cass?"

His tone was as dry as Juno's deserts, but then again, the android didn't seem like a person who would be disturbed that easily. Still, a jab to the night before was still a jab, but more importantly, it was an invitation for the child to join him, "And do try to keep it within the designated area please," he continued, ot bothering to clarify what 'it' was while turning another page, "I'd rather not offend Jantellovene's senses further when we do return."
Yan Cass:
Yan grins to the jibe, as expected. “I’m actually a creeper though~” he says with good cheer despite the content of his words. He stood up straight as Juch spoke again, his grin fading until he was frowning slightly. He took another drag thoughtfully, as his other hand slipped from his pocket with a portable ash tray. “I’ll febreze the place,” he offers, though he stubbed out the cherry without much thought and tucked the cigarillo behind his ear. “There’s certainly time.”

He glanced back down the hall to where the little lounge was, though for all that he might as well have stayed to his own rooms. They were designated right? You couldn’t call it his sleeping area unless he could do as he pleased. He supposed there was a thin line for it all.

“What are you reading?” he asks, turning back to him and letting his hand rest on the frame, as if still debating slipping away.
Juch:
"I suppose that'd do in a pinch," Juch replied, finally looking up from his book, "Thanks for the offer."

He tilted the pages of the tome towards Yan, such that the blocks and blocks of text were displayed, but the distance between the two of them made it too difficult to make out any of the actual contents of the thick hard cover, "I'm reading about public transportation ticket prices and high interest loans," he nodded, before shutting the book entirely, laying it on the long table, "I think it'd prove useful in the future."

"And what of you? What do you want to do when we arrive at Kelioux?"
Yan Cass:
Yan leans forward a bit as Juch shows the page, but it was a bit futile, and when he explains Yan instantly reels back. “Oh, I hate the tube,” he says sticking his tongue out. “Well, it’s a love hate relationship to be fair,” he adds, thinking of the days he did not feel like walking and when cars could not drive themselves. He didn’t really see how the matter would be useful, but Juch had a way of looking at things. He was sure it would bare as much fruits as his recklessness. He knew too, he was more likely talking galactic transit then the smaller trains on Earth but it was the first thing he thought of.

He rests the side of his head on the door seeming to take the thought very seriously of what he’d do on Kelioux. He already knew a bit. He thought it might contain a bit of murder. Juch was surely going to love it, or not, but that’s not where his thoughts went.

“Honestly, I kind of want ramen,” he notes, pursing his lips. “Like, a total, horrible craving for ramen. Have you ever had it? They don’t have it on Kelioux,” he says with another frown.
Juch:
A chuckle, "Indeed," the professor rested his hand on the book, as if it took offense to Yan's remark and he was calming it down, "Can't live with it, can't live without it. It's a system prone to scheduling problems, but that's not what I was interested in. I'll tell you more about it when the time comes."

However, it seemed like as soon as Yan set their destination, he wanted to make a pit stop first. How fickle, but urges and wants can be--it's simply another fact of life, "Ramen is a Earth noodle dish, correct?" Juch raised an eyebrow, "I've had it before, but it's been so long. Well, it's a little out of the way, but since we've already started our journey..."

He fell silent for a moment, his eyes focusing on a nonexistent object in the ceiling as he thought, before turning back to Yan, "Aah, that reminds me. I do owe Edge something, don't I? We might as well take care of that. Sure," he nodded, "Let's make the detour."
Yan Cass:
Yan’s eyes lit up like a little kid as Juch seemed to agree. It was totally out of the way. A total triangle in space, but noodles wait for no man. He blinks though as the android speaks again and his eyebrows raise as he mentions the Earthling scientist. At least he thought they were an Earthling. It was really debatable.

“Do you?” he asks curiously. It wasn’t that he’d forgotten the whole exchange that had set them on their paths as it were, it was just he had thought Juch would have taken care of that already. Then again, the rocks hadn’t seemed important, and Grace had been a mighty distraction. Juch hadn’t really left either since arriving either…

“You never got back to them over those rocks?” he asks, raising a hand to his mouth as if shocked and appalled. “They are so going to blame me for that you know.” He pauses. “Well, it’s kind of my fault isn’t it?” he asks with a sly grin. He had pushed him then to go to Grace, to set aside his reservations for a good game. It wasn’t likely Yan was the deciding factor but his smirk said he’d be happy to believe he was.
Juch:
At Yan's apparent shock, Juch responded with an amused snort, "You make a good scapegoat, Mister Cass. I don't need to do anything, and yet all responsibility flies off of my hands. Although I'm not sure if you're just going to use this to prod them and incite a reaction out of them."

In actuality, studying those rocks proved to be more difficult than he had originally anticipated. Their energies did not correspond to any well known phenomena--it was just...weird. But interesting. Such was the process. It was one of those long drawn out battles, and if Juch was being honest, he had placed it in the back burner for too long. Other things popped up, and everything just devolved.

But still, he needed a tete a tete with Edge. With the usual way, of course: face to face. All of the communications between the two had been done as such: no phone, no video call, nothing. Otherwise, Edge wouldn't have sent Yan all the way to find him to deliver those rocks in the first place. A simple call would have sufficed. However, there were some preparations that he needed...

Juch looked up back at Yan after returning from his thoughts, "Well, why don't we change course first. I may need to look back at the data regarding those rocks after all."
Yan Cass:
“Hm,” Yan lets out at Juch’s first words, not at all offended. “Maybe that’s it. Not friend, not acquaintance, to Edge I am but the scapegoat for many problems…” It was a horrifying idea and yet Yan did not seem at all phased. If anything he seemed a little pleased at the discovery. Juch still did not have much clue to the relationship between the two, simply that Yan did some work for them and sported a good amount of their product. So did a lot of Earthlings though, and while Yan seemed to have more advanced tech, wasn’t that just a perk of working for someone? Stuff in advanced or something? The idea that he was the scientist’s scapegoat was probably unappealing to Juch but then, Yan had his own way of things and he didn’t seem troubled by it.

“Oh, I’ll do it,” he volunteers, a bit too earnestly that it came off suspicious. “You can look at the rocks~” he offers cheerily. He still didn’t get it but between Edge and Juch it was probably something annoyingly complicated. Those two just seemed the types. It reminded him while Juch didn’t know his relationship with Edge, Yan didn’t know Juch’s. It was curious, but he supposed he’d find out.
Juch:
It seemed like Mister Cass didn't consider that aspect; Juch, on the other hand, didn't expect that his off hand remark would be taken that seriously. How interesting. On the other hand, Yan seemed rather happy about the entire affair.

The distinctions between Juch and Yan are becoming clearer and clearer. While Juch is careful, deliberate, and hides away, Yan seems to be impulsive, reckless, and encourages discoveries about his person. Juch hides away the puzzle pieces while Yan waits for people to find them.

How interesting indeed. Of course, the android couldn't be absolutely certain about these observations, but...ah well, these things take time.

"Very well," he nodded, "Feel free to adjust the course at the cockpit. Let me know if the interface doesn't work for whatever reason."

Retrieving his book, the android stood up from his seat and began to head out back to his study.
Yan Cass:
“Aye, sir~” Yan offers with a mock salute, while pushing himself straight again. “To ramen~” he says cheerfully, then turns on his heel and starts towards the cockpit. Juch had a few things to learn about Yan indeed. One of these things he would soon be learning is that Yan was not to be allowed to attempt any leading of any transportation. The man couldn’t even fly himself let alone change the course of a space ship. But he was optimistic. He was always optimistic even after the car was U shaped in a pole. There was always next time after all. Onward ho!
