Another night had passed and the first remnants of the morning sun were reaching out over the horizon and casting its light over the rocky plateau. Long shadows cast by the rises of stone stretched out before him like fingers of darkness trying in vain to escape the coming light. Atop one of the parapet of craggy stone sat a figure, the sunlight playing through his hair and creating the illusion that his head was alight. The celestial sat with his legs folded into the lotus position, his eyes closed and mind open. He had come out in the predawn to commune with the world around him and find his path. He found that in the times of transition that the energy spoke to him best. It was during this time that a sudden influx struck a chord. In an instant something had changed. Azrael focused upon the new energy and found it to be familiar. Judging by the size and breadth of it there were few that he could have mistaken it for. It seemed that Chaos had come to Earth, and where Chaos appeared one could assume change followed. Sensing how close the presence was he doubted it would be long before he got his answer. |

[Combat Rune] Cool sand gave way under wooden sandals. The owner of said footwear plodded his way through the rising heat of the early morning desert. The isolated figure that made his way over the sands did so without making a sound, steps hardly disturbing a mote of dust. Hair as black as the void flowed gently behind him, a slight breeze rolling through the desert. The rising sun reflected in his blood red eyes as the shadows of night conceded to the overwhelming light of Earth’s lone star. While his gaze remained transfixed above, his Ki sensory was affixed to another source of interest. A particular power, one he could pick up on easily enough as it was secluded, alone for miles in this barren rocky expanse. Chaos had thought this man long dead since their last encounter. It had been so long since the last time he had sensed this particular energy that he had to assume to worst. It would have been a shame if that had been the case. The Cosmic Emperor so hated the waste of a good resource. The Cosmic Emperor’s own power was allowed to saturate the area, a beacon to this Ki signature he knew. Even restrained at half of his true potential, Chaos’ Ki could be felt across the planet if he so chose. His gaze traveled to a darkened cropping of stone, the top of which just barely illuminated by the rising sun. Atop the rocky formation sat a lone figure, face and features covered in shadow. Chaos smirked and began to levitate towards the figure with arms folded. He landed next to the statue still man. The silent figure sat apparently in deep meditation and Chaos reached out to touch his shoulder. His head inclined and his cold voice broke the eerie dessert silence. “Azreal! What a surprise to find you here. To be honest I thought you dead,” he said. The statement hung in the air as he waited for the celestial man to respond.

An easterly wind blew in and played along the fibers of fur that ring his shirt as Azrael waited patiently upon his pedestal as the massive power grew ever closer. He knew for certain now that the source was indeed the man that he had previously net in the astral realm. As usual though fate deemed it appropriate that they might meet in the mortal realm. Continuing his meditation he thought back to that encounter. Figuring that if Chaos was here he would be able to sense him and at that point it would be his decision if he felt that meeting in person was the most beneficial. Judging by the nature of their last conversation if the Emperor was sincere than he would be expected to run into him soon. Sure enough it was only a matter of time before a friendly hand touched him in the shoulder. Since they had met Azrael had heard whispers of the Cosmic Emperor. Many spoke of him with fear as I f he were some dark monster but as he looked up at the man whom spoke in such a friendly manner he saw none of that. Offering a smile at the comment he shook his head slightly before dusting himself off and regaining his feet. "To be honest, that probably would have been better. Death is merely a temporary state of being. What I was in was...something else." He shuddered at the thought and dismissed it, looking back to his friend. "But, luckily here I am now. It seems fate has finally allowed us to meet in person. It's good to see you again my friend, what brings you to Earth?" |

Chaos noticed Azrael’s unease when he cryptically spoke of where he had been. Azrael had always been a little mysterious and strange, hence the Cosmic Emperor’s interest in him and others like him. Celestials, or whatever you’d like to call them, were something like him. The term celestial is a bit generic and catch all, however, and refers to any number of extra dimensional or supernatural beings. Everything from angels to Kais. Despite the lack of definition of the term celestial, Chaos learned over the years that there are indeed differences between those who identify themselves as angels, Kai, or otherwise. Chaos himself identifies as none of these. So far, he has found no other species like him in his travels. But those who consider themselves celestial, whatever they may call themselves, share at least one thing in common. At least to anybody with keen enough senses. Each of these next dimensional beings has a strange air to them, their spirit radiates a sense of indescribable otherness. He shook his head. Although he had let himself get caught up in his own thoughts, he heard Azrael field the question of why the Cosmic Emperor had returned to Earth. Chaos’ hand starched the back of his head as he thought on how best to answer the question. “There is quite a bit of business for me here. I won’t bore you with all the details, but a lot of it concerns the Saiyan Empire. My empire is allied with them and I have very close ties to the Saiyan prince. I have a few other stops I’d like to make while I am here, but those are not nearly as interesting.” There was no sense trying to be vague about what was about to happen with the Saiyan Empire. It was already damn near galactic news after all. All though he had no real reason to distrust the man before him, Chaos did decide to leave out his personal reason for coming. Chaos always kept his cards close to the chest unless around the handful of generals in Universal Terror. What reason did he have to tell Azrael about the demon horse, Entai, anyway? Before Azrael could inquire about Chaos’ other business, he spoke again. “So, what brings you to earth after such a horrible ordeal as you suffered?”

Standing from his place upon the ground and turning to face the Cosmic Emperor became aware of several things. First and foremost was that whatever energy he had thought he sensed in the astral realm paled in comparison to actually meeting face to face. It wasn't even anything to do with the level of power he possessed. It was more along the feeling that the man wasn't cut from the same cloth as any other being in existence. He was of his own variety and the galaxy was probably thankful for that. Secondly, he had the slight thought in the back of his mind that he was probably standing before one of the most powerful entities in existence. But the thing that he noticed most was the look in his eyes. All of it out together seemed to have a sense of deep agony and suffering. It was most likely one of the main reasons people found him so intimidating. Most could assume he had that aura due to the grief he had caused but something told him that under it all the Emperor was a tortured soul, perhaps that's why he had felt such a connection...he understood that feeling. Seeing the cogs turning in the mind of the power before him he decided not to chase down the rabbit hole but rather take him at face value. Surely he was entitled to his own business. He spoke them of the Saiyan Empire and his alliance with them. Azrael had heard rumors and he was sure this must have something to do with that. He listened for a moment lo,ger before responding. "Ah, I believe I have heard some about that. Its likely to get a bit messy. Perhaps I'll keep my ear to the ground. If there is anything I can do to assist you I would be honored to do so." He turned toward the horizon and gazed out to the distance. "As far as my own presence, I don't really know if there is an easy answer to that. It seems fate has felt it necessary I remain here until this occurence. Maybe that's what it's all been about. Only time will tell." Wc: 368 Twc: 857 |
