Yan:
“My company is still recovering,” Edge says with a small sigh. “It sadly can’t handle even Yan right now,” they admit, causing the monkey to gain a cheshire grin. Edge tended to play him down, at least when it came to actual strength. They were always happy to take the damage he could do out of proportions, but they always acted like they could handle him without breaking a sweat. Yan wondered. Edge was older than him, he thought, it was hard to tell sometimes with the fluctuating time lines. When Yan had been a child, Edge had been there, on their high horse, and they never moved away from treating him as such.

“But if you hold him down Juch, I can put a cat on his face,” Edge adds, causing Yan’s smile to instantly disappear. He looked to the android with a clear expression of “Don’t you dare.” He wouldn’t hesitate to blast the place sky high if anyone so much as touched him at that point.

Juch:
At the mention of a recovering company, Juch's eyes softened. Perhaps it was sympathy, given that they had been in a similar line of work for so long. Or maybe it was more akin to empathy. Either way, he allowed a drawn out sigh to delay an actual response as he leaned on the edge of the couch, "Such is business, I'm afraid."

The softness did persist as his gaze turned to meet Yan's, whose hardened expression wasn't enough to change Juch's. The Keliouxian chuckled, "It's still tempting, but he's already crashed my ship before. I loath to think what would happen when I close my eyes tonight."

"But surely," Juch continued to hold his gaze on the redhead as he addressed Edge, "having RBC units may complicate matters. Say, a recovering company, no?"

Yan:
Yan kept his glare on Juch, and he picked himself up defensively. He scowled at the comment of crashing his ship, and made his way to the couch farthest from him, plopping down like a spoiled child who had not gotten the response they wanted. That was in fact what he was, wasn’t it?

Edge finished with the tea as Juch moved onto the elephant in the room and only smiled. They picked up the tray and walked it over to them. Yan brightened a little at the sight of tea, but kept his arms crossed over his chest stubbornly.

“My business is in recovery only because I let it diminish,” Edge explains, bending over slowly to set the tray on the coffee table. “I returned to it only after I was scolded. It is a means to an end, but the end I seek for this Earth is a bit more complicated,” the scientist further admits, glancing up to Juch with lidded eyes as if beckoning him to question them on this.

“I won’t trouble you with the emotional parts of this Juch,” they say, smiling once more. “Though my decision is based solely on my emotions to the subject.” The RBC units weren’t just robots. They were complicated AIs made from the souls of children. Edge was emotionally invested in that. They wanted to see the wrongs done to them overturned, to create new life, proper life for them. It was far from altruistic however. Edge was not that good of a person.

“It is also a venture of war, one I see coming, and Earth losing quite sorely. If that happens, my business will have no purpose.”

Juch:
Mister Cass seemed unhappy about the turn of events. Well, with Juch and Edge both ganging on him, his opening salvo regarding the RBC units jibe has backfired on him. However, the android only shook his head, folding his hands over his cane. In the end, it was harmless.

In fact, he decided against passively sitting there, and reached down to pick up the tin of snacks that Mister Cass had earlier to hand it towards the redhead silently.

"Well trouble me with at least some details of this," the Keliouxian murmured, straightening back up, "I can't read minds, unfortunately. What do you look for Earth, exactly?"

He made no comment regarding Earth's potential war. That was another Pandora's box in itself.

Yan:
The peace offering was not completely ignored, though there was a noticeable pause where Yan’s eyes shifted from the tin to Juch. Slowly, he uncrossed one arm and took it quietly. He then readjusted himself to be sitting cross legged on the couch, and plopped it in his lap. He let the grownups do the talking, though he knew he could jump in at any time. He was ahead of Juch here. He understood the game Edge was playing. It was a cold one, no matter how empathetic they claimed to me.

“Freedom, I think,” they suggest scrunching their brows as if that might be too much to ask for. They found their own seat in a recliner and took their mug, a plain white with a turtle etched on it’s side and set it in their lap. “The Saiyans have saved Earth. This much is clear. Earth would not be here, not like this, if not for them...but the circumstances they have set for this planet are fragile. The idea of not invading can only be seen as weak in the eyes of King Vegeta, and yet, his children want to exhaust other options. To what degree, is unsure. Both Prince Vegeta and Prince Tarble are hotheads, quick to act in extremes. They are trying to do something, even if it is made of their good intentions, that is out of their depths. The people of Earth, the council assigned to dealing with them, have absolutely no idea what they are doing. This makes the balance even more fragile.”

It came back to the war anyway. Edge offered only one real sentiment to what they did want, and then immediately went to what was standing in it’s way. The bigger picture was lost, because they were not ready for either Yan or Juch to see it.

“So how much longer will Earth’s freedom last? Can on even say it is free when the Saiyans could ask anything of it under the ultimatum of using the troops they have stationed here and properly invading?” they continue, looking to Juch curious of his thoughts, however vague he may offer them.

Juch:
Mister Cass accepted the offer in the end, as Juch suspected, but the foul mood that he was projecting didn't dissipate completely. There'll probably be more coaxing that the android would have to do later, but for now, Yan seemed to let it go in lieu of the discussion regarding Edge's plans.

Juch picked up a cup of tea of his own, craddling it in his palms as he listened to what Edge had to say. The old man did raise his brows at his business partner though, as if a little surprised at what they were saying. It seemed as if they were trying to convince the Keliouxian why the situation with the Saiyan Empire and Earth wouldn't turn out well in the end. But, the professor didn't need convincing in that regard, but he supposed that it was a gesture just to make sure that everyone was on the same page.

And to this, the android let out a cold chuckle. He did sip his tea in an attempt to equilibrate, but his smiling gaze did not contain the warmth that the steam from his cup provided, "The Saiyan Empire did provide assistance during the war for Earth," he began, almost gingerly, "Of course, there are other details that provide different context, but I will give credit where credit's due if we isolate just this case."

He set the cup back down on the table before continuing, "But I'm surprised that you would take in their propaganda to heart as well, Edge. It is unlike you," his fingers combed back a few strands of hair, tucking them behind his ear, "I've heard word on the street regarding the Saiyans being the saviors of Earth and all--if not the heros of the entire war in general--but the implications of that don't sit well with the facts. Even though I didn't directly participate in the summit between all of the factions, I did receive the memo."

"The Saiyans were the ones who primarily tackled the control units and Earth simply because that was the agreement that was held," he offered a light shrug, "They didn't go above and beyond any sort of expectations; they only met them. To have them heralded otherwise is dishonesty on an intellectual level."

"I don't assume that leaders have intentions, good or bad. They only have responsibility to their own. So as for what Prince Vegeta and Prince Tarble's goals...is still something I have yet to solve. But it's a fascinating puzzle in itself; one at the cost of Earth's people, unfortunately. It's not about a question of freedom. It's a question of whether Earth is enslaved, or wiped off of the map completely. Have the Saiyans done anything differently in the past?"

"But the fact is, this isn't a closed system. You have the Saiyan Empire, sure, but you also have other factions out there. Has the council opened dialogue with the Protectorate?" Juch shook his head, "If anything at all?"

Yan:
Edge only smiled and sipped their tea as Juch passed judgement on their words. Juch seemed to enjoy being overly precise. He liked all the facts set out in an orderly fashion for all to view at their leisure. That was not how politics worked however. Politics involved twisting the facts, taking advantage of how facts could be viewed, and spinning the truth the way that was most beneficial. To Edge right now, agreeing that the Saiyans had done right in certain areas gave them more room to move around in others. If they said so simply, the Saiyans had done their part in getting Earth off her knees, that they were not simply the devil, that Edge could see the good in them, then they could more forward to focus on the things they had done wrong since then with renewed focus.

“Yes, but Juch, the Saiyans, they did what little they had to, and then with Earth completely vulnerable to their rule, stepped back and said, ‘let’s do this differently,’” Edge muses, obviously enjoying the discussion. “In that, they saved what Earth was, and is. They took out the threat and they gave us our planet back to be ours--To a point, but still to a point far higher than they have offered anyone else.

“It’s funny you should ask that,” they say, at the question of Avalon, their failed ally, “because the Saiyans have allowed Earth contact with other powers, even ones they do not share allyship with. The Protectorate will be involved, but they will be stomped on. Kelioux has been invited, as an ally of the Protectorate, and thus, a once ally of Earth, but what moves they will make, you would know better than I.” Another smile, then a pause as they moved to take another sip of their tea. “On the other hand, the Cosmic Emperor will be showing his face. It should be quite the meeting.”

Yan ignored them both, though his ears took in all their words carefully. He leaned forward in the middle, and took his own cup. After a sip, he leaned forward again and added just one teaspoon of sugar. Then he leaned back and settled himself to sit in the back of the meeting, unneeded, and unwanted. Goodness knows how long that was actually last.

Juch:
"Mm, sure. Let's go with that," Juch nodded with a smile in return, "So then the next question is, why are they treating Earth differently? I feel like that is rather important. "

"Well, since I won't be participating directly in the upcoming meeting, I wouldn't know what would happen persay. After all, I don't have direct command over who Grandmaster Adel sends as emissaries, or what they would do at the summit. But for Earth's sake, I hope it is productive."

"However," Juch raised a finger, "This is a side discussion, isn't it? Are you saying that the RBC units would be an effective force should Earth's government collapse in some way or another?"

Yan:
Edge merely listens, slowly sipping their tea until the question was posed, the subject returning back to the first point. “Perhaps,” Edge offers vaguely. They took a small pause, then held their hand out to Yan. He looked at it for a moment, then reluctantly put a cookie into it. The scientist smiled gratefully, than absently took a bite and another gracious sip.

“My hope is to make them people again,” they say, looking almost sheepish over the idea. “Get rid of the hive mind, of the Steel Legion’s control over them,” they add in further explanation. It was a daunting task, and one that could easily fail, but if anyone could do it, it would be Edge.

“If, as people, they find Earth, the place that took them in, saved them, worth saving in return,” they say, and it was a mighty big if. They would not force any of the units to fight. If they wanted a different life than that, Edge would make sure they had it, but if they wanted something to fight for they would also give that to them as well. “Then yes, they will be a force to be reckoned with.”

Juch:
Juch fell silent, returning his attention back to the tea cup on the table. As the soft crunch of the cookie filled in the gaping void that was the lull in conversation, the android opted to just sip his tea without the aid of any sweets.

What Edge had described was…interesting. It was plenty of work and effort—one that ultimately may not yield any fruits. And out of the potential results, there was a chance of them not being the one that was so called ‘desirable’, “That would be something that could work, I would suppose,” Juch murmured in the end, looking up over his glasses, “I do hope that it does then. Time is a commodity that may not necessarily be in your favor this time, Edge. ”
