The Avatar of War
|
A break from it all, that’s what he needed. Everything that had surrounded the Avatar of War’s mind was too great for him to process. In an attempt to forget all that, he decided to do what he normally did, train. He, however, didn’t know what kind of training he should do. Get a workout by swinging his axe into nothing? Or should he just run until he couldn’t stop? Since he didn’t like either one of his choices he found a lake. There he threw his jacket off and then plugged into it. The water felt nice around his muscles and almost brought everything in his mind to a halt. That was before he noticed his scouter on a patch of grass. Lights and a series of numbers appeared on it. The Avatar of War wondered if he should have been worried or if he should continue what he was doing. What if a Namekian village needed him? “I’m sure the others can deal with it,” he said as he leaned backwards, floating on his back, “I’m on break for now.” War never takes a break, but its Avatar did. Walid wanted a moment to himself so that he wouldn’t explode from everything that he was going through. It was also probably the best decision he could make. Whenever he was on the verge of life kicking his butt, the chances of him snapping grew. Brontos was a strong patron but could he keep the pink-haired warrior stable through everything? WC: 251 |

The ZSC Gloria opened with a hiss. Gwen stepped out onto the blue Namekian grass for the first time and smiled. It was pretty here, she didn't think it was really going to be all that nice, but she liked it. Who knows, maybe she'd get a place here so she had a reason to come visit. She scanned the horizon, seeing nothing that immediately drew her in dead ahead. Then to each side, nothing of note. She landed on a big blue desert. She frowned. Maybe this wasn't the most happening spot to be, but it was still pretty. The Crimson Maiden, Gwen, could sense Walid nearby. She locked onto his signature as she descended onto the planet, and had since been keeping an eye on him so to speak. She'd come here for the purpose of meeting him and uniting the Zaun, so she wasn't really wanting him to die on her or anything like that. Making a final note and locking onto his power, she brought her gloved fingers to her head, and in an instant she was transported to his location. Well, sort of. She was standing on the side of a lake of some kind, a scouter and jacket littering the ground. Gwen blushed. He better have his pants on if he took a swim! It'd be indecent of him if he hadn't! The Avatar of War

Walid swam around in circles until something felt weird to him, he felt like he was being watched. It didn’t surprise him if he was; the PTO probably had agents spying on their every movement. He also wondered if that he should have paid more attention to what his scouter was trying to tell him earlier. As soon as he looked over to where his device was, he noticed someone standing there. His eyes couldn’t quite make out who it was because of his time in the lake. When his sight finally returned to him, he looked confused for a moment. He recognized the person, but at the same time he didn’t. It came to him after a while; it was someone who’d recently called him a thief in the Astral Realm. He couldn’t remember their name, but he did remember being accused of something. “GET AWAY FROM THAT,” he shouted, referring to his belongings, “ARE YOU TRYING TO STEAL FROM ME OR SOMETHING!” The Avatar of War then emerged from the body of water and stood next to his things. From one of the pockets of his jacket, he revealed a tomahawk that he had stashed in case he needed to protect himself. He also wasn’t sure if he should feel bad about jumping the gun with his assumptions, but his time on Namek had gotten to him. WC: 229 TWC: 480 |

"YIPE!" Gwen hollered as the pink-haired Avatar of War poked out of the water, yelling something about her being a thief. Some nerve! She turned and gave him an irritated look. "Here I was ready to put the past behind us and you go and start accusing me of being the thief..." Gwen said, the irony clearly not lost on her. She gave Walid a look over and watched as he quickly made his way to his jacket to pull out a weapon. "WALID CALM DOWN! IT'S GWEN, REMEMBER? FROM THE ASTRAL REALM?!" She shouted, fearing that he might do something hasty. She could sense his power, if things got ugly he'd be able to destroy her. She didn't like this fact, though she blamed it on him being able to actually go and fight on his own during the war. She had people to protect. Which meant if she did her job right, then nobody died and the enemy stopped coming round after long. She lived in constant suspense, ready for their next strike, but when the PTO came back, they were usually easily repelled. Gwen frowned at Walid. "Something must be going on here to have you this on edge. Is there something I should know about before exploring more of this world?" WC: 215 TWC: 443 |

Occasionally he’d run into situations without thinking, that was something even he was man enough to admit. Rather than use his weapon to attack the Zaunite, he kept it at his side instead. It didn’t occur to him that she didn’t even know what was transpiring on Namek. She could have also been part of Royce’s men, but if she was, she was one hell of a poker player. Based off everything that he knew about Gwen, he decided to trust her. “What’s not to know,” he answered with just that and stopped himself before he dove down deeper into the conversation. The Avatar of War didn’t share a lot of things that bothered him and that went the same for Intel. What all could he say about their mission? What should he keep secret? Since he didn’t want to anger anyone he chose to keep things as simple as he could. He even thought about giving information out about his clone and Royce, the only Zaun related news he could have given, but he considered those two personal for him to share with anyone. “The PTO are here,” he said, “And they are ravaging the planet. Now I don’t know how they would treat people who aren’t Namekians, so you might be safe, but you might want to keep an eye out just in case.” Walid knew that he was also considered a foreigner for the planet, but he was an exception to the rule. Not only was he part of the Guardians, but he was an enemy he thought the Planet Trade wanted to capture more than anything. He did after all break into one of their prisons to free his sister. "Hm, I suppose that shouldn't surprise me." Gwen said with a sigh as she ran her fingers through her hair. She had run into one of theirs in the Astral Realm on the way over. Fate would have it they'd find her and wherever she was going. Though, it didn't really make sense to her. Walid talked like they'd been here awhile. So perhaps it wasn't that they were there after her, and they had other reasons. Gwen didn't like the feeling she got though, after talking to that girl, she knew they had identified her as a target. She wasn't just being self-important, it was clear in that girl's tone. "The PTO, any idea how long they've been here, and what they're after?" Gwen asked, clear in her tone her bad blood with the organization. They were the one's attacking Zaun. It made sense that they'd been unsuccessful if they've also been putting numbers here. Perhaps this was a good way to get them on the backpedal and sock it to them. "Whatever you're cooking up against them, I want in, Walid. After all the shit they've put me through since their invasion on Zaun, I owe em a few. So do all of us, for that matter." Gwen said, showing the first bit of camaraderie towards Walid since she'd recalled their unpleasant history. Whatever ill feelings she had towards Walid were for childish reasons, and were nothing compared to her burning animosity for the PTO. WC: 246 TWC: 689 |

That was a really good question, and he wondered if he was actually ever told what they were after. As far as he could remember, Walid thought that the Planet Trade came to Namek solely to slaughter innocent lives. Was that really their goal or were they after something or rather, someone? Before he had a chance to open his mouth he remembered something, something that he was told during their meeting. The Dragonballs. The Avatar of War didn’t really know what purpose those magical orbs served, but obviously it was for something. Could that be the reason they were on Namek? And if it was, could he tell Gwen anything about that? Instead of releasing any information, he chose to go with the safe route. He would have hated it if he ruined what they were striving to accomplish just because of his big mouth. “Can’t say I know what they’re after, but if you’re interested I’m sure the gang I’m rolling with won’t mind you tagging along,” he said, then scratched his chin, “Either I could talk to them or you can, they’re not far from here.” Then came another question the pink-haired warrior found himself wondering about. Which one of the Guardians should he tell her to see? All of them seemed to trust the Avatar of War’s judgment so he really didn’t see any of them having a problem with any of it. “Chishan,” he added, “He might be the one you should see first. He’s a good friend of mine, always interested to see Zaunites. He’d welcome you in.” WC: 264 TWC: 1,000+ |

"Gang?" Gwen frowned at the word. She'd hoped that wasn't what he was up to. Still after all these years and he's an affiliate of some gang. "Heavens please tell me it's not that same old gang you used to hang around with back on Zaun..." She added, her frown turning to a scowl. "It'd be uncouth of an Avatar to be affiliated with such ruffians." With a huff Gwen blew her bangs out of her face. She had really hoped she was wrong with her immediate assumption of him when they met in the Astral Realm. That he'd done something with himself, not just fled their home planet to raise hell across the galaxy. Though, she feared she was correct. A gang certainly did not have a very positive connotation. Nobody talks about their pet being saved by a gang, or a gang putting out a fire. "Besides, if you can't tell me about what you're doing, then why would I trust you enough to go see this Chishan anyway? He'll probably try to capture me and turn me into some kind of house wife!" She scoffed, making a brash assumption about Walid's apparent gang leader. She hadn't heard the name before, and that meant he probably wasn't another Avatar. Though, to be fair, there were a lot of minor Avatars that got no love. Actually, until the war, she was one of those. She was glad to be brought into the lime light, sure, but she would much prefer people just gave her credit for being a good soldier, and didn't just see here as Astrea's Avatar. She was sure Walid felt the same about Brontos. He was a major Deity, so she was sure he'd gotten plenty of hell too. Lousy people and their expectations... "Fine. I suppose if he tries something funny I can just leave." She said, not explaining what she meant in the slightest. She had a plan if it went sour though. WC: 329 TWC: 1,018 |
