The sky was clear as the Celestial flew across the valley. His eyes scanned the green, lush valley underneath him carefully. The sun was warm yet scorching, and the breeze was gentle. In essence, it was a perfect day to be outside. A picnic would perhaps be perfect, especially along the sides of the mountains that filled the valley.

Yet that was not why the Celestial was out scouting. Oji had taken a trip out of the barracks to meditate within the wilderness, and during which, he had sensed a terrible power level spike up not far from where he was.

Oji could tell that this power level was far above his own, and could sense a sinister presence about it. He also sensed another high power level near this one, yet after a few moments, that power level faded away. His thoughts could only ponder the fatal implications of this, and acting upon the Paladin Code to always actively stand up against evil, Oji flew off in the direction of this power.

However, he unfortunately lost track of the mysterious being’s power level and now he simply hovered in the air, pondering his next course of action. Gripping onto the hilt of his Capsule Corp Sword, he pondered if his own aura would have the same effect as the mysterious stranger’s aura had on him. He never thought about the possibility of his own aura containing a sense of ‘light’ to it, but perhaps he could draw out this potentially dangerous foe by powering up his own ki.

The Celestial then threw his arms outwards with clenched fists, his ki exploding around him in white flares as he powered up to his max. He hoped it would be enough to catch the attention of this sinister entity.

As Kether flew through the air, trying to come up with a plan to annihilate what remained of GUARDIAN, including Director Faust and Ciconia, the final First Class GUARDIAN, he noticed a somewhat impressive burst of energy in the distance. It felt like someone was powering up for a fight, but he could only sense one energy level, which meant there wasn’t an opponent for that person in the area.

Kether, YAHNOVA’s voice entered into his head smoothly. That energy you’re sensing has twinges of celestial ki in it. I’m curious to see who might be the cause of that.

Kether immediately veered off in the direction of the energy signature. ”As you wish, mother.” It only took a few minutes before he was able to pinpoint the source: a seemingly young boy who was floating in the air with a white aura surrounding him. With a quick glance around, he found a fairly even strip of land in the valley below and flared out his power to match the boy’s in order to gain his attention before landing.

”So,” he began as he sized up the boy. ”You consider yourself a swordsman?” Kether glanced pointedly down toward his own katana which he wore on his belt. This kid wasn’t a major threat, nor was he someone he felt an urge to kill so he didn’t want to summon the Xodus for a fight like this. ”Your energy is rather intriguing as well. It doesn’t feel like a normal human’s.”

I sense no threat from this boy. Play with him for a while if you care to. You shouldn’t need my assistance for this fight.

The hair on the back of Oji’s neck stood up as he felt the tremendous force move towards him. However, it didn’t seem as sinister as before. Turning around, Oji watched as the stranger made his presence. He had long silver like hair, and wore an impressive katana on his side. Oji locked eyes with him intently.

His mind seemed so frazzled by the presence of the other being. It seemed to be the same effect that other Celestial’s had on Oji. Whether it was some innate for Celestials to possess, or Oji simply had the ability himself, it seemed like he could always sense when someone was another Celestial. Though there was something different about this person’s energy…he wasn’t quite like the other Celestials he had met before.

Oji then listened to the man’s words. A smile appeared across his face, “That would be because I’m a Celestial. And I would gamble to say the same about you…though…I don’t think I’d be one hundred percent correct on that…” Oji waited patiently for the man’s response before continuing. He gazed down at his own sword, realizing that he hadn’t taken his left hand from the hilt and his grip had tightened.

“I am a swordsman; mostly self taught, unfortunately,” his green eyes turned back to Kether as they slightly narrowed in a searching expression, “It’s obvious you’re one as well. Has your blade seen some practice today?”

Oji wasn’t sure if Kether was a potential enemy to Earth or the Protectorate, but he could tell there was something wrong with this man. For now, he would just question him.

Kether nodded slightly when the boy mentioned that he was a Celestial. He hadn’t actually met one before, but from what YAHNOVA had told him it seemed logical that he would be one. He sure seemed… young. He didn’t actually know much about Celestials, but he figured that they would be more… well, more impressive to be honest.

His eyebrows raised slightly when he guessed that Kether was a Celestial as well. Interesting, YAHNOVA’s voice re-entered his thoughts. Ever since her head had been destroyed, he could feel her constant presence in his own mind. So, he can sense either my Celestial DNA in your cells or my presence directly.

”Well, I’m certainly not a Celestial,” Kether said in response to his statement. ”Although my mother is…” He couldn’t help but smirk slightly at the mention of his lack of official training with a sword. He hadn’t missed the fact that his hand was clamped around the hilt of his blade, but Kether was fairly certain that he could pull out his own sword before the boy could close and attack if he even tried to.

His eyes narrowed and his expression grew darker at the question of whether or not his blade had seen any action today. ”Perhaps,” he said suspiciously, as YAHNOVA began to feel more suspicious as well. ”Have you ever heard of the organization known as GUARDIAN? It’s a paramilitary organization made up entirely of augmented humans. Their leader betrayed me and stole from my mother.”

Kether’s power began to rise slowly as he got angrier at the thought of Faust. ”It is my mission to act as my mother’s avenger.” He drew his katana fluidly in a single motion, holding it in a ready position. ”Would you care to test your skill with a blade today?” A dangerous glint shimmered in his eyes as he grinned almost predatorily. ”I don’t feel like cleaning this blade today, so you have nothing to fear from it for now.”

GUARDIAN? Oji had to think for a minute, but he did indeed remember the organization that Kether was speaking of. Oji himself had chosen to follow in the Avalonian Protectorate footsteps by joining the Paladin Brotherhood, yet GUARDIAN could have very well have been a close choice for him if he had been persuade to.

From what he understood of them, GUARDIAN was a good organization, they had fought to protect Earth during its past war. However, Kether seemed to have some righteous anger towards the organization, claiming that they have stolen from his mother. It was an encrypted answer, perhaps loaded with a dark history Oji was not ready to hear yet; though the fact that Kether was going against the organization definitely sent off some alarms in his head.

“How did they steal from her?” Oji inquired, hoping to hear more of the story and perhaps formulate some understanding of this stranger before him.

Oji then nodded in acceptance to Kether’s offer. The young Celestial could tell just from the man’s presence that this stranger was far more powerful than he, but perhaps Oji could learn something from a more experienced blade master.

The Celestial bowed his head respectfully before unsheathing his own blade. The hardened Capsule Corp steel glistened in the sunlight, the brand new blade had been Oji’s replacement to his own Steel Sword and had yet to see much action.

Contrary to his own nature, Oji took the first initiative in the fight, rushing forward with his blade extended and swinging two quick fluid strikes towards Kether. One to the man’s weapon hand, followed up by a quick strike to his torso. Perhaps it was something sinister within Kether that brought out Oji’s own righteousness, making him more aggressive than he normally would have been.

”How did they steal from her?” Kether repeated, his voice getting louder. ”They stole her power! Through various experiments and dilution through cloning, they attempted to create an army based off of my mother’s strength. It’s blasphemy, and they WILL pay for it!”

Calm, Kether. This boy has done us no harm and killing him would serve no purpose.

With a deep breath, Kether did finally begin to calm down, and as he did so he couldn’t help but admire the quality of the boy’s blade. Before he could comment on its fine craftsmanship, he was already rushing forward to engage him. He spun out of the way of the first strike and brought his own katana up just in time to catch the boy’s blade on it. He grinned slightly. ”Attempting to disarm your opponent from the very beginning. A good strategy.” He pushed his blade outward in order to create space between them before bringing his own katana in a pair of slashes of his own toward his torso.

”You have impressive form, I must admit,” he said as they fought. ”You’re much stronger than I gave you credit for.” This time, Kether brought his blade up and began to strike downward, flicking his wrist at the last second in order to change the angle of the strike unexpectedly. If it did manage to break through the boy’s guard, he would pull back before it actually injured him, although he wouldn’t have been surprised if the boy was able to keep up with him at this speed.

”What’s your name, boy?” Kether finally asked, wanting to put a name to the face of this young Celestial. ”I might have an offer for you, if you’re interested.”

As they exchanged blades, Oji was impressed with the man’s ease in the bout. The stranger held himself off expertly, creating distance between the two and then rushing back in for another series of strikes. Sparks flew around them their steel met in fierce clashes.

At one point, the stranger brought his blade straight down towards Oji. Yet at the last minute, he appeared to change the angle of the blade, thus intercepting Oji’s block. The Celestial already had a relaxed form, so he was quick to pick up and dodge the maneuver. However he only barely managed to do so as the tip of the blade sliced through his white cloak and tunic and just barely nicked his skin. Oji hovered backwards, his blade extended out in guard as he inspected the cut. He wasn’t sure if it was he who had dodged the strike, or if the stranger purposely held back.

“Oji Waza,” Oji answered Kether’s question. “I’m currently training as a recruit in the Paladin Brotherhood. I’m not a full-fledged member just yet, but one day I will be.”

Oji listened carefully to the stranger’s next statement. He sounded as if he was looking for a gun for hire, and even the way he conducted this bout seemed to almost be an interview for a possible job. However, the Celestial was cautious; he could sense something dark within this man.

“I’m willing to listen, but first, since I shared my name, care to share me yours?” Oji inquired.

”Oji Waza…” he whispered to himself as he stepped back and broke off the attack, settling into a defensive posture. So he was training to be a Paladin for the Protectorate. That explained the swordsmanship to some extent. It also might make him a bit less willing to help him, however.

His help could prove useful, YAHNOVA’s voice reached out to him mentally, agreeing with Kether’s decision to attempt to enlist his aid. If nothing else, he could be cannon fodder for the remaining GUARDIAN forces while Kether went after Faust and the final First Class.

”My name is Kether,” he replied in response to Oji’s query. Before he could make his actual offer, however, YAHNOVA decided to step in and make it herself. Suddenly, Kether’s aura took a much more unstable form, crackling and popping loudly as his irises turned a darker orange.

”My offer is this.” The voice that spoke was a mixture of both Kether and YAHNOVA’s voices, sounding as if there were two voices speaking at the same time. ”GUARDIAN must be eliminated. I could do it myself, but it would be much easier if I had somebody else that could assist in distracting most of its forces while I… tend to the Director and his final remaining abomination.”

Knowing that Kether’s body couldn’t handle her power flowing through it like this for an extended period of time, YAHONVA extended his hand out as an offer. No matter Oji’s answer, she would have her vengeance. This way was just easier.

Oji shot back from the tremendous, sinister force that had just appeared before him. Right after he had introduced himself as Kether, the stranger then seemed to take on a completely different personality. His energy cracked through the air, as if it was infecting the atmosphere itself. Oji felt that he was now experiencing the other half of Kether that he was sensing before.

Shaking his head firmly at the request, Oji stated, “I can’t do that. I’m not sure what GUARDIAN has done to you, but I cannot willingly accept an offer to slaughter good men.”

Oji was ready to attack Kether, though he knew he would lose. Kether’s power level was far above Oji’s. And Kether’s own sword work before his sudden transformation far surpassed him. However, the young Celestial was prepared to throw his life away. Yet he knew if he did, then no one would be able to warn GUARDIAN of Kether’s presence or plan of attack.

Swallowing his pride, Oji knew that he would have to leave the man be for now.

“I hope we can meet again, under different circumstances,” Oji stated, before taking off to send a warning to Earth’s Paladin Force.
