Yan: Continued from here... "They don't," Yan says simply, with seemingly little thought behind it and yet there was conviction. Kibune could not compete with anyone because they chose not to. As the monkey had previously stated, they liked to stay in their own little bubble. Kibune was like a vacuum, it sucked things up and spit them out, most often into the trash. It was a business oriented place, but for its own specific services. If you gave them more resources they would eat up the money and laugh at you. A waste, and the thought of it disturbed Yan more than he liked to admit. He didn't want to see Kibune's bubble get bigger. It was a nasty place where people were not people and everything was for sale. He turned away and rested his cheek in his hand as he did so many times before. "If you had those resources to give, then they'd be better used on Cyphris," he offers, naming the third well known city of the outter terraform. There was Kibune, the pleasure district, there was Strix, the trash heap, and there was Cyphris. In comparison to Kibune, they were a bit more classy. It drew people in a different fashion, calling to those that wanted to make something of themselves even after being born into nothing. They did business off planet and were quite the hinderance to the secret police because they lived in almost a spiteful manner to the pen. They liked to do things their way, and their way had proven quite successful to them. Before the war, they were the only city to keep ties to Juno, and to ships. They had many smaller organizations that could compare to the Star Wolves, but they lacked the organization and leadership. The place was split into seven sections and decisions effecting the larger populace was voted between them, but unity was far between. If they gained more resources, more support, it could prove quite interesting. Juch: "Eeh, is that how it is?" Juch finally placed the bundle of papers back onto the table, satisfied with the documents that Yan had handed to him before. The Keliouxian leaned back on the couch, folding his hands over his lap as he turned his gaze away from the younger one beside him, clearly in thought, "Well, let's not be hasty on any sort of investments, shall we?" He turned back to face Yan, "Don't forget that I'm also a part of the Star Wolves," he spoke with a soft smile, "And so is the person that I had planned to meet. It was decided by chance to be in Kibune, so I was curious to see what the competition was like there." "Evidently," he reached over to take another sip of tea, "I may have overestimated them a bit. Ah well. But since you've brought up the topic of investments..." Juch placed the cup back onto the saucer with a light clink, "...are you saying that Cyphris is worth looking into then?" Yan: Yan shrugs absently, though his brow raised just a little as Juch offered him the tidbit of information. He had suspected it, but the confirmation was more pleasant. Juch as a space pirate was a funny picture stereotypically, but if you looked at it from it’s depths, it was much more fitting than it first appeared. “The blonde?” he asks absently, as he reached for his tea. Taking it carefully in both hands despite the heat he closed his eyes and kept a soft expression. “If anything in the outer terraform is worth looking into,” he muses, purposely giving the air he didn’t believe it was. In Juch’s position, it should have been a place he was taught to avoid, somewhere to escape from. Yan’s perspective was different, but wasn’t that exactly what he had done? From Kibune, to Cyphris, to the ‘pen, then back again to Strix, and away and away. He hadn’t thought any of these things through. He just went with the flow after all. Juch was the builder. “Kibune...if you don’t already know it, you should be weary,” he says with an absent finality. It wasn’t competition, but it was still dangerous. “Maybe I should go with you.” Juch: It was a hint of laughter that accompanied Juch's reach to rub Yan's head when the identity of the person was breached, "Smart, Yan. The same one who met me at the Earth's custom station as well," the old professor nodded with some amount of approval. He didn't elaborate more regarding the person that he had wanted to meet, but it was clear that they had already turned up on Juch's ship once before when Yan wasn't there. Instead, Juch, balancing the saucer in his hands, looked at the light colored drink. The reflection of the overhead lights were plastered onto the liquid surface and the android continued, "But of course, if you would like to come, it'd be welcome." As for the outer lining of the Kelioux Empire? "The outer terraform is worth looking into, exactly because nobody else is." Yan: “You need more friends,” was all Yan said though he grinned at the rub. It wasn’t really smart of him. There had only been hints to one other person past Jant and Sondere. They popped up here and there, but he was always sure it was the same one. Juch was a solitary spider after all, even if his relations went further than the monkey had first suspected. Juch perhaps needed friends in general, but that was another matter. “I’d hate to see you swindled,” he adds, before taking a small sip. He was sure Juch would find his way of blending in, but like many things Yan enjoyed, a lot of things there were sure to bring him discomfort. Such a strange place to meet, but then, as he continued, the matter was true. Like Vegas, what happened in Kibune stayed there. It gave him a mixed impression of the mysterious blond however. By chance, or by choice, he still wasn’t convinced. “Untapped resources,” her murmurs before taking a small gulp before leaning forward and setting it down. “We have a busy itinerary. Is there anything else planned for this trip?” Juch: "Ah, pish posh," Juch pulled his hand away from the redhead after the rubbing concluded, and with that same hand, waved Yan's suggestion away, "That 'friendship' business is quite overrated, I assure you--an investment into nothing more than childish illusions." He didn't think much of the subject, and glanced over it without much more thought, "It will be my first time there, certainly. If you're familiar with some parts of it, it would expedite the entire process, I would imagine. It will be a private meeting regardless though. It is Kibune, after all. I'd ask you to not speak of this to anyone else." Certainly, those who are deemed close to Juch were few and far in between: Mister Fields, Jantellovene, Sondere, and now this shadowy figure. The friendless one's inner circle didn't appear to show the awe and admiration characteristic of a personality cult, as evidenced by Jantellovene's words and Mister Fields (although that could be just the cat being himself). But the blonde was the one that the android had not yet explicitly identified to Yan. The role that they played in Juch's relationships is still murky. "However, you are correct; it will be busy," Juch nodded, "The other topic to discuss would be Grace. Assuming that the prison business concludes smoothly, I imagine that there would be some conflicts on Grace that have yet been resolved, no? The ones that have been giving her some trouble over the years?" Yan: Yan noticeably paused. He had leaned forward to set the cup down and mid-pulling back Juch said what he did about friendship and for once, there was a chip in Yan’s normal demeanor. He stared forward for a moment, then caught himself and sat back. It wasn’t that he wanted to be friends with Juch, nor that his view was depressing, it was just a reminder he apparently needed. “We’re friends of course.” What was that? “I know all of Kibune,” he says with ease. “As I do with many places~” He grinned a little to himself at that, recovering quickly. It was the kind of accomplishment he didn’t think he’d have when he lived in Kibune. It was funny how things turned out. He nodded just as absently about keeping it quiet. Who would he tell anyway? Tomoko? Pft. “Grace…” he lets out, looking up and letting his head touch the wall behind him. “She’s a tricky one. Part of the business I had today tied to her. She’s using Anna, and I’m not quite sure I approve.” If anyone were to be using Anna, it should be him. It was a bit childish, but it all went back to that first meeting where the planet had shown more interest in the biodroid than either of them. Tricky indeed. Juch: There appeared to be some sort of shift in Yan's expression, but the android didn't think much of it. Regardless, it would be good to have that sort of information readily available. The android nodded in agreement, resuming his sipping of his drink. Grace certainly had some niceties to her, "Hoh? Well, from what I know, she has that feud, and Anna is sort of that bargaining chip between them or something. Has there been any more developments regarding that area?" "I was also concerned with the Church of Grime. She had talked to us before regarding that, hadn't she?" Yan: “Anna doesn’t tell me,” he says with a hint of bitterness. He shrugged it off however, with his normal it can’t be helped attitude, and smiled once more. “They’ve been in contact, that’s all I know~ There’s also a new player on the board who has connections to her ‘Hephaestus,’” he explains, with a small sigh at the end. Oh, he wasn’t sure he liked that man. Not one bit. He had prowess, and connections, along with a way in with Dennis. If he made an ally with that man, what would Grace think? The web was getting more and more convoluted, but he did not wish to speak to Juch on such personal matters. There might be a time for it later, he might be forced to, but until then, it was a secret he would keep close to his chest. He wasn’t supposed to know anyway after all. “But the Church, I know more about them, if you’re looking for that,” he says, a hint of mischief finding it’s way across his face. While Juch had spent his time sleeping, Yan had his fun on Grace as well as Damaskia. They were tied together now weren’t they? Grace, GRIME, dimensional travelers, the Lost, Pendragon, and Dennis, altogether in a not so neat package. Juch: "A new player?" Juch repeated, raising a questioning brow at Yan, "Well, it can't be helped. That's how the game changes, I'm afraid." That's one part of the board that the android had little contact with, so he wasn't sure what to make of any new developments regarding that end--especially about how they will impact everything else down the line. As of now, Yan was his closest line to how things worked on Grace, so that was what he went with, "Well, if this issue with Anna becomes a problem, you will let me know, right?" "But for now, one step at a time," Juch set his cup back down on the table, "Tell me about this church, and if they're also a problem to be dealt with." Yan: A problem...it was already a problem wasn’t it? Well, not with Grace. So far, their goals had stayed aligned. He only nodded. He would tell Juch if things go out of hand. As it was, he was still not completely out of his depth. “I wonder,” he says softly, tilting his head a little. “Grace has more than one feud. She seems to pick a lot of them actually. The Church is a simple enemy that she plays tag with. They pick fights over territory and entertain her with conflict. Grace...she is the puzzle piece I have yet to understand. When I do, things will become much clearer,” he says before leaning forward and taking his tea up again. “Like many things on Grace, they are more evolved, but a true problem...An obstacle…perhaps, an asset? If the planet can be unified, it’s those two halves that will do it: the Church of Grime, and the Church of Grace. In GRIME there is power, in Grace, there is the needed balance to keep things in check.” Juch: Juch nodded, leaning back on the couch. His arms crossed as he processed the information; indeed, the planet was an enigma to him as well. He hadn't spend much effort studying her, but on the other hand, Grace hadn't given him the opportunity to. She was quite fickle, in that sense. Still, what Yan had told him was interesting enough. The fact that they still existed was a bit of a surprise to the android at first, but the explanation that the redhead had given was at least a little reasonable. Of course, the stunning inefficiency that stared right into his face was an itch that he couldn't scratch. It was a little frustrating, indeed, especially now that they were now involved with it as well. If the planet kept the church around for that reason, then what about the rest of them? She had invited Juch and Yan as well over to that dinner, but ultimately, the android wasn't sure if he understood his own role in all of this, "...is a unified planet something that Grace would want? The last thing we need is an upset host, I'd say." Grace being a puzzle implied that there was a solution of sorts involved. Hopefully, he’ll see some semblance of an answer to all this before everything comes crashing down. Juch: 1005 Yan: 1338 |
