The Hybrid and Sun were still on their journey, searching for the mystical water that would heal the broken pieces of their souls, but had heard nothing related to it. They had been from town to town, even ran into the two demons, Benzo and Quall, and had to fight them as injured as they were from the fight previous with Grim and his brother, Kilborn. During the fight with the demons, Soul had snapped, the result being the brutal way he had dealt with Benzo, and something between the two half-Saiyans had changed because of it. The way Sun seemed to regard him grew more reserved, as if the man was now cautious of Soul, and it made him downcast because of it. Two days had passed then, making it almost a week since they had fought the android brothers with Uri and lost; each earning injuries that were comparable to life threatening to say the least. Soul looked down at his bandage clad body, concentrating more so on the muscles that moved and how they moved underneath the surface of Zyren's body, of their body; and determined that the majority of the injuries were healed. The healing was slow, even with the fact that both he and Sunchoke were Ki users, and the Hybrid was a bit surprised that he was healing this fast if he had to be honest with himself. After all, he couldn't use Ki correctly, even if his counterpart, Zyren, could; and that was coupled with the years and years of malnutrition Zyren had suffered on the Dark side of Mortoseth. Grrrrrrooooowwwwlll He grinned, the sound bringing his attention to it, and added to his thoughts; ...and I have the appetite worse than a Saiyans. Our body needs the nutrients though, and now that it's gotten a taste of enriched food, I can't blame it. Spotting a town ahead of them, he coughed to shake off the thoughts and to get his companions attention, and then pointed to it while saying; "Hey, there's a town up ahead, you mind if we check it out? They might have information regarding our quest from Master Roshi so..." WC: 367 Thread WC: 367 |

Though it had been almost a week since their battle with Grimm, the unexpected confrontation with Benzo and Qualuud had kept Sunchoke's body from healing. In fact, he thought he might be in worse shape now than before. But there was no stopping now. For one thing they had to get out of the desert, or surely die of the added exposure and dehydration. For another, now that they had gained access to the land of Korrin, Sunchoke was eager to find the master whom Roshi had spoken so highly of. And this sacred water... Surely with that his soul would find wholeness and his power would return. With such a prize in mind it was impossible to stop and rest. If the water could heal the soul, he assumed it would also help with physical injury, after all. He looked at Soul who was no doubt in the same boat as he was. Perhaps it was their shared saiyan blood which spurned their stubborn journey, wounds and rest be damned. But now he was more focused on what he'd seen during the confrontation with Benzo and Qualuud. He did not fear Soul because of it; it simply brought questions to mind for which Sunchoke had no context. His first month in this world had been absolutely baffling. In the battle with the Grimm Brothers he had begun to understand a mortal affliction called "trauma," which caused all sorts of warps in personality and morality alike. He knew also that the dagger-wielding hybrid's spirit was damaged just as his was, and wondered how that played in to the sadism he had witness before. Even though Soul was warming up to the Lion, there was still much he withheld. Sunchoke would not prod him, but his curiosity grew the more time they spent together. Zyren's stomach growled and Sunchoke became painfully aware of his own hunger. His companion pointed ahead to a town ahead and suggested they stop for directions. Sunchoke smirked. They both wanted food. It was funny that he veiled his needs in such a way. "Beings on this planet give horrible directions. However, they have a knack for preparing delicious food. Perhaps as we seek information regarding Korrin, we could taste some of this town's cuisine." His smirk widened to a grin and his stomach roared again. He slapped his stomach excitedly. WC 396 |

Soul grinned in response to his companions words and spoke; laughter and relief tinting his words; "I plan on doing more than tasting it...but the problem is that we don't have much money...but we could always work for it. I don't mind doing that, never have, but you need to let me know before hand that you have no money. The whole deal of not eating before the fiasco with the two demons didn't go over my head." His warning and request given along with his own jovial tone made a subtle contradiction, but everything he had wanted to say was said and they continued onward to the town ahead. Two hours later, they passed what could be called the "entrance" or "boundary" of the town, only for Soul's eyes to catch on movement to his right. His Sense spread out and collapsed on the owner of the movement, revealing that he was very strong...to humans. In numbers, it might top a few thousand if he got serious, but to both Saiyans...it was nothing past a nuisance, if that. Soul turned, left eye raised in question, only to be greeted by a young man with short, straight hair who spoke with both awe and fear. "St-strong. So...strong. OH, uh, wait here just a moment please!" With that, the man spun on his heel and ran into a house at the end of the street, which was no different from the rest. Soul turned to Sun with a questioning frown, shrugged, and found a wall to lean on as he did what he was asked. It was evident that the man could sense their power, a feat into itself, and he had asked them to politely wait...so what was the harm of waiting? Groooooowl Oh, there was that. A minute later, the man came back with an middle-aged man in tow, each talking quietly enough that neither Hybrid knew what they were discussing. A moment passed, and the elder stepped forward, bowing once in respect before asking; "Excuse me kind gentlemen, my attendant tells me that you two are quite strong, so strong that the weakest of you two could defeat him in just an instant." Soul simply stayed quiet and lightly smiled, neither refuting nor accepting the statement, and looked at his hand instead, knowing that the man wasn't finished. The elder frowned slightly, but continued; "I, as the mayor of this small town, have a proposition for you two. We don't have much to give in exchange for your services, but a local gang has taken to pillaging us, and even injured a few townspeople when we didn't cooperate right away. If you two are willing to help us, I'm sure we can come to terms on your payment..." The elder looked at the ground as he said this, and Soul looked at Sun, deciding to let him take the lead. Sun was more tact, and while Soul could talk instead, it wasn't exactly his forte'. Groooooooowl That, and hunger made him irritable. WC: 512/879 Thread WC: 1,275 |
