A quiet whimper broke the crisp silence of the night air in the middle of a forest. Elijah was just rebandaging his wounded arm when he heard the cry. It was peculiar; miles from civilization there shouldn’t be a woman roaming alone. Perhaps she was lost. It would only make sense, as humans seem to prefer to travel in packs. Curiosity got the best of him as the soft murmurs continued. He wandered hardly fifty yards before he saw her, huddled underneath a thick wool blanket. The night may be chillier than daylight, but it was still too warm to be cloaked in such a thick material. His silent approach was disrupted by a rustle and crunch of dead leaves several feet from the girl. She leaped to her feet and gasped through her tears, “Stay away from me! You can’t touch me!” Elijah cocked his head slightly, admiring her adamance. If he wanted his way with her he’d have had it by now. Her cries of defiance continued for a few moments before he raised his wounded hand. “I had no intentions of making contact with you, girl. I’m here out of curiosity. I have no intentions of taking you for myself.” Her face switched from terror to anger before she calmed to explain. “No, no that’s not what I meant,” she sniffled and rubbed her face before continuing, “You literally can’t touch me. You’d perish like all the rest. I’m literally poison.” Whether she’d wanted Elijah’s attention or not, she had it in full now. “Explain.” His eyes affixiated on her veins that seemed to be on the verge of bursting into a deep crimson fountain of blood. Elijah would be lying to himself to say he didn’t consider popping her like a balloon to see what was inside. “I’m not sure I can... “ Her cracked voice was barely more than a whisper. Unamused and suddenly far less interesting, a fire sparked in the young demon's eyes as he weighed the pros and cons of slaughtering her like cattle. His intimidation clearly got the better of her as she scrambled for words. “I-I fell into this weird thorn bush. Like nothing I’ve ever seen before! I knew I shouldn’t have been snooping around the Capsule Corp labratory… It’s all just so interesting, I’m sure you know!” Everything she said was so peculiar and alien to Elijah. A fiend knows nothing but fire and destruction. Tormenting the souls of the lost and the damned were in his nature. Asking questions first genuinely felt strange, but there was something so fascinating about acquiring… knowledge. “I wasn’t aware actually. You’ll have to explain this Capsule Corporation to me later. For now, explain this bush you fell into.” The tension between them was unexpected. Elijah had a lack of personality from his circumstantial arrival on Earth and seemed devoid of anything but mild interest to the young lady whose poisonous tears left her white pullover stained light pink. “I don’t know how to explain it… It was like a rose bush, but without flowers. And the thorns were black, not like anything I’d ever seen, it looked almost… empty. Like it was there but it wasn’t at the same time. It left me paralyzed for ages. The security who found me in the morning grabbed me to escort me out, but when they touched me…. They screamed. Agonizing screams. The fell to their knees as their skin turned black and their eyes and ears bled. It was disgusting, I am disgusting. Not even human anymore.” Elijah’s sudden smirk interrupted her story. Her misty eyes changed to irritation at his reaction. “Not human? I guess that makes two of us.” “What do you mean that makes two of us? Aren’t you human, you look like a human!?” Dropping to one knee to be on the level of the huddled human he whispered inches from her ear, “I’m a demon.” WC: 657 |

Earlier that day… The sounds of the galactic train halting was a large screech. Steam exuded from the bottom of the large transport and coming out of it in a blazing run was a head full of red nappy hair. Following after a few more random people would be Anna in a slight panic, her black hair shimmering about as she looked left and right. Oh boy, that girl was just too much trouble. “Bark! Where the heck did you run off to!?” Quickly she honed onto her ki signature and proceeded to run after her. Barkley could not stay sitting down for such a long time, and that transit was a long time. Anna didn’t struggle much to catch up to the young girl, but still it was a troublesome activity. When she finally found Barkley she was looking at the newspaper. With a large drawn out sigh Anna placed her hand on Barkley’s shoulder. “Why are you so interested in the news, Barklet?” Barkley was always looking for a reason to do things. Anna could already tell that Barkley was growing up to have the potential to be a decent problem solver. Barkley was looking at a headline about a string of murders. Anna also looked down and her eyes lowered into a serious stare. Murder was a bit too much. “Come on Barkley, I made reservations let’s get to them.” Anna grabbed the paper and placed it down. Barkley looked to Anna. “So the murder stuff doesn’t interest you? I think it is interesting!” Of course Anna thought it was interesting and the Paladin in her needed to search for Justice. But her daughter? Now, Anna didn’t want to shelter the girl, but this was too much. They would have to step the problem solving levels up one by one. “For now let’s get you set up at a home and enroll you into Master Roshi’s Dojo.” That was okay, Barkley would nod, but she knew exactly what was happening tonight. That Night… Barkley investigated the murders. Her fiery red hair bounced around the town and fooling her mother was not simple, yet she made it seem that way. Leaving a ki signature imbued pillow at home seemed to do the trick. She was now outside and lurking in the shadows of a forest and without much fear. Each step she took was careful and thought out. Barkley was not here to cause noise and concern, and because of her own silence she was picking up a conversation within the forest. She peeked over some high vegetation and could see two people talking, a man and a woman. She heard how the woman story had gone and Barkley was just as intrigued as the man would be. Barkley was going to be careful, though. The woman was poisonous and shouldn’t be touched. She also didn’t know much about the man either so keeping her distance was going to be key to the situation. At-least she thought it would be until she took a step without care and a twig snapped. WC: 513 / 1,170 |

The Earth girl’s reaction to the young fiends declaration of demonic nature was one of horror. As if she was looking at a ghost. The look was slightly expected of Elijah. He hadn’t seen another demon since his arrival and had only heard bad things about them. Behind them a branch made an audible snapping sound. Elijah paid no mind, assuming it was a creature but the girl leapt swiftly to her feet. “Who’s there!” She exclaimed while pulling a torn hood over her head to hide her appearance. “It’s probably an animal.” “No… animals don’t approach voices they run from them. Someone is… HEY, YOU THERE! GIRL!” Quickly turning to see what the poisonous human was yelling at, he noticed her too. Hair like so red it almost seemed ablaze. How peculiar, he thought to himself. Perhaps a human with a sense of curiosity like my own. He raised his hand in front of his new female companions face to silence her, almost causing her to topple over as she avoided making any contact. “No need to yell, it seems to be just a young human. Child, please, if you are intrigued do not be afraid. It’s how we learn after all.” Elijah’s lack of typical emotions finally seemed to be sinking into the poison girl’s mind. “NO!” A sharp undertone of caution was found in her voice. “You won’t hurt her… us, will you? She’s a child, and you’re… you know. A demon.” Her emphasis on the final word confirmed any belief that typical humans were anything but skeptical of beings from hell. He couldn’t really blame them, but he knew now he shouldn’t advertise it to just anyone, especially since he was gifted with the good fortune of having the appearance of a human more so than a demon. “You’re afraid of me aren’t you?” He didn’t ask either girl directly it was more of a vocal observation directed towards the night air. He looked up at the stars and the moon that gave a sliver of light through the trees, revealing the large scar around his left eye. “I’m not here to hurt either of you. I merely seek to understand. I almost forgot after all this. I am Elijah,” he addressed them both, “What are you called?” 381/1038/1551 |

The moment the snap of the twig had echoed Barkley knew her cover was blown and she visibly cringed at the thought. Her blue eyes scanned the scene and watched it progress. The man didn’t pay her any attention at first, and Barkley made a quick assessment that he was relaxed. Only tension would cause someone to look up, which the woman had draping off her skin better than the cloak. A normal person who had been hiding would be scared and attempt to run, but Barkley’s original aim had nothing to do with spying. This was the chance for her to introduce herself, and as she crawled out into the open for them to see her, she heard the woman mutter about a demon. His calm demeanor, even with his stare almost like blades which could pierce through metal with ease, told a story of a calmer demon than what Barkley was used to in stories. “Elijah? Doesn’t sound too dangerous of a name. I think this woman might be more dangerous at the moment, wouldn’t you agree? Poison to the touch isn’t too good!” Barkley swatted away vegetation which had caught her clothes and just watching the woman made the ginger tense. “They call me Bark, yes a lot like tree bark, or dog bark. Elijah this woman, I believe, is responsible for a few deaths because people die when they touch her.” She had did her research and Barkley heard most of their conversation and came to that conclusion. All of these ‘murders’ were involuntary manslaughters. It was still a crime, however, and Barkley could only sigh. She couldn’t have jump to that conclusion without the woman blatantly admitting it, but that didn’t matter. Barkley wasn’t the police or anything of that sort, she was just a curious girl and Elijah did indeed hit that on the mark. “So a demon? That’s pretty interesting. What kind of demon are you?” She went to ignoring the woman for now, even with her problem so dire. “Because I don’t trust the woman over there. The murders have been random. How many people does it take for you to kill in order to realize you are a living weapon? I think maybe 2. One on accident and another to be sure? Think this woman is just a human or does she have demonic intent?” That was just like Barkley. She wasn’t planning on giving this woman the benefit of the doubt. It was simple valuations. You kill one person and then another, you go into hiding. Why must there be more random murders after that? What was going on? Barkley’s eyes were set more on the woman than to Elijah, and she was watching her. It was as if she was watching the woman like she was a threat rather than her being a victim. WC: 475/988/2,026 |

This little girl was one the most peculiar things that Elijah had stumbled upon since his arrival, perhaps more so than the poison girl who identified herself as Raena. Human children weren’t brave. They didn’t form proper sentences let alone have concerns about morality. Elijah almost smirked as he watched her stumble and her brilliant orange hair bounce through the foliage. She introduced herself as Bark which seemed odd but fitting. Elijah glanced between them as she accused Raena of killing more than just the two that attempted to escort her from the Capsule Corp. When she asked Elijah what kind of demon he was he became puzzled. Was it because he looked human? Perhaps she was doubtful. He did know of succubus and other fiends but never gave it any thought. “I don’t know… I guess I’ve never thought about it. Or perhaps I have. I can’t remember.” The girl had hardly stopped to breath however when she continued with her accusation. He could hardly argue with her, however he didn’t take it as seriously as she seemed to. He actually let a smile unfold when she said, “one on accident and another to be sure?” It was funny because that’s probably precisely what Elijah would do. As for being a demon, how could he know? He didn’t even know how he knew he himself was a demon, only that he simply was. “Honestly, child, you seem rather on edge. She doesn’t seem to be a threat. All things considered she probably could have already taken my life should she have chosen, unless perhaps she knows it wouldn’t work on me? But then she would have had to know I was a demon to begin with…” At this point he was just thinking out loud but caught himself rather quickly, “Anyhow, I don’t care what she does. I’m curious as to how it works though. Should we have her demonstrate? Maybe the humans after her want to watch. Do humans do that? They’re curious too, right?” “What the hell is wrong with you?” Raena finally piped up to interrupt Elijah’s rant. “I’m not a fucking lab rat! The girls right though… Perhaps I should turn myself in… Maybe they will understand! If not... “ Her voice trailed off with a sigh. Tempted to ask what a lab rat was, but registering that this was perhaps not the time, he instead just nodded and looked to Bark for the child’s input, after all she did seem to have more of an opinion than himself.
