The trees acted like an umbrella to soak up most of the rain in the dark forest. In that forest was a man hanging on the outstretched arm of another. Pierced right through the chest and dangling off a strong arm was one of the greatest martial artist in the upcoming years and as he bled out his murder snickered. “You should be careful with the drinks offered by friendly competition, Tatsu. Well should have been, it is much too late. Your death will be your lesson in the afterlife.” Tatsu choked out just one name.

“Crin…”
And his life left his eyes. Unknowingly to Crin, there were a small pair of eyes, frightened a bit by the display. Blue eyes shivered in how they took in every detail and their fingers trembled at their phone which recorded the entire encounter. As Crin pulled his arm out of Tatsu, he dropped his body to the ground at first before picking it up and carrying the lifeless body away. When he was gone, nappy red hair peaked out of the bushes before those eyes looked off in the distance.

That was murder.

Barkley had never witnessed murder before this and seeing life drain away like that brought a surreal feel of loss. She knew nothing about this man, yet she was sad to see he was no longer on this plane. “That was murder. Murder…that felt so bad.” How was she going to stop him? No, that was the wrong answer to ask. Many would think of ways to pay him back. Barkley knew what she needed to do.

***
Tatsu’s body was dropped down in-front of his doorstep and his wife had discovered it. She was devastated. She tried it all for weeks. Jenna Markil had the law involved and private investigators. She soon figured out who may have did it and out of despair she hired a hitman to go after the entire blackheart clan. With white hair and a childish grin, Issac had been chosen by the agency that was contacted and he was in town because of that.

Well, it was that and Barkley of course. For reasons unknown, he was following her about. The fact that he was already in the area had played a huge part as to why he was chosen. Jobs like this? They were easy and he showed how nonchalant he was about by walking around town looking for clues about the clan with his hands behind his head and a low whistle. “Easy 1,000 zeni I’ll ever make”
While walking around he felt the eyes of someone on him the entire time. He knew exactly who it was, but pretended to be ignorant. He walked until he found an alleyway and finally turned around. “Miss Cass, is there something you want from me?”

Barkley stopped in her tracks. “You knew I was following you?” She snapped her fingers. “Darn it! I thought I was getting better at tailing people.”

“30 feet. That’s the rule, I think you were like 28 feet. I felt your presence way to easy haha,”
Issac said before let his hands down. “But seriously, what do you want? Tired of me stalking you so you turned the tables on me?”

Barkley shook her head. He was hardly in her life, besides being in every master training class she has been in since the Yaidrats. Now that she was with Master Roshi, he was there too. With that being said. “You know about Tatsu, the one who was mysteriously killed?”

Issac nodded. He was on that trail right now. Barkley held up her phone and it caught Issac’s attention. “I saw it happened. It was hard to see who it was, but he said Crin. she said while pushing play on the video. It was choppy and hard to see. Hearing, however was pretty easy. Issac grabbed at his chin.

“So, Crin Blackheart, huh? Well that confirms some things. What are you planning on doing?”

“I plan to take this to the police. It’s the best thing to do.”

Issac scoffed and then nodded. “You go do that. I have things I need to do, what exactly did you want me to do? Need help with something?” Barkley was still all frowns. She knew what Issac was up to.

“Don’t kill anybody. How could the even send a kid to do that? Murder is not a tool for real justice.”
Oh? Issac closed his eyes. “I’ll think about it. You best get that to the police though before I get to them. Now that would be horrifying. And, Jenna wouldn’t get let off so easy.”

Barkley glared at him but only in confusion. “What about you? Won’t you get in trouble too?” Issac only shrugged. He knew that the agency he worked for would cover his tracks, so long as he personally wasn’t caught. He jumped up over the alley wall and left Barkley there on her own. Barkley looked up at the last place she had seen him for a few minutes before turning around and leaving the alley, but as she was trying to leave she was surrounded by four men which startled her as one had already fired a ki blast at her.

If she didn’t know how to deflect, that would have been lethal to her as she rose her hand and caught the blast. Doing so pushed her back with its force just before she swiped it away with a bit more might. She grunted and then looked up to them. “Crap. What do you want?”

“Oh, just eavesdropping on some kids. Didn’t know one of them was a witness. I don’t think Crin needs to be criminalized, especially with us having a major tournament coming up.”

So they were blackheard clansmen, or at-least fans. She couldn’t tell, but the only way out was blocked by them… at first. That was until an aura broke from her body and she flew directly up and a chase had begun. How fast as she compared to them?

Soul let out a deep yawn, uncaring about the looks that the city people gave him in response to him being groggy after getting up, and rubbed his eyes for what felt like the tenth time in the last two minutes. His ship was parked on the outskirts of the city, hidden in a forested grove that made it all but impossible to find except from the air and with the cloaking on top of it...

No one was going to find it unless they spent some time looking for it.

A myriad of smells assaulted his nose, good, bad, and the inbetween that represented BO, food, and garbage while he walked the streets, but he ignored the bad and made his way to a street vendor. Zyren's nose was like a hounds thanks to his upbringing, and since Soul had fused with his universal counterpart, he now could smell like Zy could when he was in control.

Speaking of---

--A burst of pressure emanated from his right, strong enough to be a nuisance but not so much of a problem if he got serious, and lazily, he turned his head to look into the alleyway he was passing--

--Only to see a bright ball of light crash into his face and knock him over.

"Ouch! You--Who the hell?!"

His sleepiness forgotten from the abrupt pain and anger, he quickly stood and glared back into the alleyway to see not one person, but five. Four men surrounded a woman, a young one at that--maybe fifteen at most, and eleven at the minimum-- and it didn't take him but a second to figure out what was going on and how he had gotten involved.

They were trying to either kill or mug the girl, but something had happened to where the energy blast had struck Soul instead. He turned to head into the alley, but once more the same pressure crashed against his senses while his eyes caught the telltale sign of someone releasing their power. The girl blasted off, intent on fleeing, and Soul frowned.

Who is this Crin that they were talking about, and why...why does she feel like a mixture between Yan and Anna? Why does she give off the extra feel like she's a traveler too? Not as pronounced as Yan or Anna but...

Time for questions, and he had a feeling that this girl might answer them if he dealt with her problems. She had just crested the top of the building when the Hybrid sprung into action, his own power drifting to the surface for just the brief moment that he moved in the form of a silver-white aura that clad his body like a second skin.

His concepts of Ki formation and usage were fundamentally different from whatever the laws were in this universe, but he wasn't going to give the four ambushers a chance to figure out what happened. His pupils shrank, his perception of time slowed with the release of his power, and everything slowed to barely a crawl. The redhead's movements, even as fast as she was, turned from a full out flee to little more than a walking speed...as did the men that started to power up with the intent to follow her.

Soul took a step--

--and it seemed like he crossed the span of over a dozen meters in what looked like just a single movement, hand flickering once before he turned toward the second unsuspecting guy. A crack rang out, both the breaking of air with how fast his prior two movements were and joined with the breaking of bone as a chorus to his exchange.

One second, two clueless dead men that were still in the midst of falling before their two remaining comrades felt that something wasn't right. One brought his head down, barely registering that the two men across from him both a, didn't have an aura of power about them, and b; were starting to fall over with their heads at crooked angles.

Angles that shouldn't be possible!

Wha--

A flicker of movement at the peripheral of vision was the last thing he saw, but the last thing he felt was an impact, so minuscule in comparison to what he thought it would be, before everything went black.

The last guy was the one who had fired the blast at the girl, and Soul had saved him for last on purpose with the intention to let whoever the girl was get revenge. He left the ground in pursuit of the girl, but an overwhelming pressure and the intense feeling of death and crisis quikcly tore his attention away from the girl and toward the source...only to see a blonde haired kid with two different colored eyes--the right was blue, the left amber--launch himself after him and locked the crook of his arm around the man's throat.

Two Seconds.

He struggled, but was quickly told that was a bad idea by the subtle tightening of the arm that was currently holding him by the throat as they continued their ascent.

As fast as Soul had primed his body for combat, attacked, and grabbed the last man by the throat and headed upward toward the girl, it had ended. Soul kicked the air once more with his leg, and with the new burst of speed, quickly caught up to the girl and grinned before he spoke as the third second clicked in his head; "Excuse me young lady, but I think you might have forgotten this jerk right here."

With that, Soul brought the last remaining guy around to face Barkley, hoping that she didn't mistake him as an enemy. His power was all but cloaked and had returned down to normal levels except for the small amount he needed to kick the air to stay afloat with; but he didn't want to scare her with the difference in power between the two.

She was pretty fast in comparison to the men and the struggled to try and catch her. One thing she constantly did was keep looking forward and not to distract herself with looking back to see how much ground… well air she was gaining on them. Before she could turn back to them upon reflex she was stopped by another person whom she had never met before. With a screeching halt, including her own voice part of the screech, Barkley was defensive immediately. She huffed and she puffed and she….stopped while processing what he had just said. “Wait what are…huh?’ She turned around and noticed that the other three were free falling with odd angled necks. Oh gosh they were probably dead!

But instead of horror, like how she saw with what Crin did, she was relieved. They were getting ready to kill her after all and now this guy, who so happened to have saved her, was holding the man that tried to shoot her down. Ah, so this is what it felt to want revenge. It boiled up inside of Barkley like a hellish fire. Dark smoke was seething out from her maw. “How could I forget him? He just tried to kill me, I think that is unforgettable…unforgivable.”

She focused her lips into a slight pucker and blew a stream of fire directly into the man’s hair and it set on fire and he struggled about with his hair burning away. “There we go. He had really cool hair, I’m sure making him bald is good enough.” Yes the man tried to kill her, but she wasn’t the murderous type. Now, if her father had found out about this… a sweat bead slowly drizzled behind her head as that thought invaded her mind.

But anyhow, Barkley found herself face to face with yet another savior and another boy or man or… she didn’t know how old he was but he was older than her most definitely. “Thank you sir.” Her eyes widened a moment, however. “Oh snap! Hey, uhm I gotta go. I need to get to the police station and turn in this video!”

With that, while the man’s hair was still on fire and Soul standing about, she rushed the opposite direction to where she thought the police station was.

Soul looked first at the girl who was flying in the opposite direction of the police station, then down to the man that he was holding hostage in his arms, the back at the girl before shrugging.

Well...she is young, but she kind as well. She could have killed him, which would have been the most "horrible" punishment, or left him be without doing anything and that would be the "good" route. No, instead...instead she was a mediator, deciding to give punishment but let him live with his mistake without dirtying her hands.

The Hybrid glanced down at the flailing man, still in agony of his head being set aflame, and let him go on the building next to him. As for the heat or the flames that she had missed trying to set alight the man's head, they had been mitigated by a small percentage of his aura that he had let trickle out to protect himself.

Wait, she didn't stick around to answer his questions, or even stick around! He frowned, hoping that he didn't scare her, but she said something about a video...weird. Too many of the pieces was missing for him to put together remotely anything plausible, so instead of scratching his head and being left alone; he launched himself after her.

"Waaaaaaaaait!"
