She sat in the darkness of the alleyway in rags. It only took them days to strip everything from her, but it took them years to figure out she was a witch. She was loved by everyone as their lovely librarian of Katabo Village. It took them years to love, but only days to hate. Why was it so much easier to hate than to love? Her dirty blonde hair peaked out of the rags of clothes she wore and could only be seen from the light of fire that was being brought closer to her by the mob. The people raged against her because she was something unnatural. In a world where people could fly and easily convert light into a mass of power, because she was magical and not bred from hard work and science, they hated her. People hated what they could not understand. They didn’t understand her, and so they hated her. The shadows bounced off the walls and she could see her own shadow growing as the fires got closer. “Burn the witch!” She was miserable and tears rolled down her eyes. All she wanted to do was read. That was it! Read and share her love of reading with the world. But now? The world wanted to share their hate with her. Why not take it? Her eyes suddenly widened and a barrier escaped the edges of her skin and pushed out to prevent them from getting any closer. Her hair mangled and twisted as it rose. It was as if an invisible devil gripped her hair and pulled her up from it. That fire ignited it the hate in her. It was as if a match was lit and way too fast it hit her heart of gasoline. An explosion rocked the people and they were pushed back. She screamed at the top of her lungs as if there was no limit to how loud she could get. Her eyes had widened yet her iris shrunk into tiny dots. “You want to see a witch instead of a librarian, then… let me grant you that wish.” She disappeared with a loud bump of a noise and destroyed the entire alleyway and mortally injured quite a few people. Ever since that interaction, she had been on their Most Wanted list and the nearest town’s militia was out looking for her. They didn’t know that she housed herself within a cave outside of the village, and there she was cooking up a recipe of disaster to collect on her revenge. WC: 425 | TWC: 425 / 4,700 |

The wind whistled in his ears while Soul tried to stay between floating and falling, the sound only broken by muffled thumps of his legs kicking--and subsequently breaking--the air with both his strength and minutes amount of ki. He wasn't used to flying for long periods of time, not only because his version of "flight" was different than the young, redheaded girl he was trying to stay relatively close to, but also because he preferred to move about on land and only use his ki when necessary. That, and well...this Universe's laws regarding Ki formation, concentration, and discharge were vastly different than the law's he was used to in the Universe that he had come from. He could learn how to fly like the girl and most of the people he had met was, but it would take time that he didn't have to teach himself. He spoke out over the rush of wind and thumps, trying to catch her attention so he could ask a few things; "Uh...miss? Wait! The police station isn't that way, and I have a few quest....ions...." Soul paused his somewhat jovial attitude when something caught his attention and dragged his gaze to the west, eyes turning both serious and distant from a clash of things happening inside of his head. His conscious mind was trying to pick up on what his subconscious had, but the feeling of something...dark and nasty tugged at his mind. It was the familiar feeling of a memory fragment close by and about to surface. The hybrid glanced back at the girl, wondering if she had sensed it too or had kept going, and wondered if he should investigate this cause of events or ask her the questions that he had planned on asking over the last few minutes. Elijah sat on a bench on the outskirts of the small village of Katabo pondered his first few days on the planet. It was boring at most times, but perhaps not as disappointing as he’d thought. He’d met a dangerous woman whose touch could kill as well as a very strange perhaps possessed human creature in the woods. Then, last night, a small girl gives him an invitation to a tournament with a small gem before vanishing. The young demon just so happened to be fondling that gem trying to uncover its secrets when he heard the chants. Screams of a witch? Elijah was curious now. What is a witch? So he stalke the shadows along street sides until he could see very clearly something incredible unfolding before him. It seemed practically the whole village had chased a young blonde girl wearing rags into an alley. They were bloodthirsty. Elijah knew that feeling. The girl surprised him when she turned suddenly, screaming at the crowd. A crash and a flash were all he saw before she vanished, leaving behind dozens injured and dead on the streets. Cries for help were flooding the air riddled with curses directed to the ‘witch’ girl. Perhaps she and Elijah could find similarities. An elderly man pushed him from behind, screaming at him to go help. “Please! My son and grandson were in there! I can’t help but you should be!” Confused, Elijah stumbled forward towards the wreckage. Dust from broken Mortar filled his lungs and he coughed, tripping over bodies of the deceased. Finally he arrived at a young woman gasping for air. A large metal rod had pierced her chest and blood pooled around her, draining from her wound and her mouth. He became lost in the crimson liquid on the ground. Ignoring her he reached down, running his fingers through the warm fluid on the ground. It coated his fingertips and he brought it towards his lips glancing around. Everyone was in a frenzied panic, nobody would notice if he just had a taste… As he brushed the warm liquid along his lips he was interrupted by a hand around his wrist. “Hel… Help m….” The girl on the grounds arm was tightly around his as she took her last breath. Her voice trailed off and her grip slackened. His subconscious desired more but knew it would bring unwanted attention to himself. Besides, he knew he had to find the blonde girl. He wanted to know what she was doing. WC: 418/1146 |

Barkley halted with consisted of her pulling the front half of her body back and kicking the air in-front of her like it was the ground she was trying to stomp on. The man yelled about going the wrong way and she was… embarrassed to say the least. She blushed and then turned back to him. “D-do you know where the police are then,” she asked him while she floated there. She waited on him to catch up to her, of course and she noticed his weird way of flying. To make it easier on him she floated to the ground. Once she did that, she let out a lament of frustration. “I totally thought I was going the right way. I probably would have flown across the entire world before I actually got to the police station. I can be such an idiot sometimes.” Then she remembered the last things he said and her sharp blue eyes focused on him. “Questions? What kind of questions you got for me? I don’t think we have ever met before. Again, thanks for coming to my rescue.” *** The witch was brewing up a nasty storm and her magic could be felt by any one able. Humans sensitive to magic would be drawn to it, demons would flock to it if they were near, hell that is what she wanted. She was putting together a concoction, but there were some ingredients missing. That innocent woman that they once knew was gone completely now. Her skin was dirty with shamelessness and her eyes were red with reprisal. The witch mumbled to herself as she threw things into a cauldron and her childish cackle could be heard several feet away. “They will feel the wrath of a demon soon. There puny army will be crushed!” WC: 726 | TWC: 1,447 / 4,700 |

Soul's expression was complex to say the least, partially torn between differing fronts regarding both his curiosity...and whatever had induced the feeling that a fragment of his missing memory was near. Was it a person? An object? An event? He was startled out of his reverie when the girl spoke, asking her own questions in response to his statement. Deciding that it was easier to answer her and assuage at least one of his problems, he spoke; "Well...for one, why are there men trying to kill you, and what's with that video you keep talking about? Why does you energy feel like a mix between two people that I know...and why...why do you have the same "different" feeling like those two people?" His eyes hardened when he asked his last question, and his voice became steel with his next; "Are you a traveler?" Soul's energy began to trickle out from it's confines, slow because it was unsure, but also in preparation for a variety of answers she could give... If there were multiple time space travelers, it posed a problem. Well, not necessarily to him or Zyren unless he knew said people, but because of the repercussions or laws that have been made because of the amount of people like him. There had to be police, or gods, or some organization that ruled over the people that shouldn't be... Right? Soul rubbed his forehead moments after asking his last question, quietly swearing to himself for being an idiot, for being flustered because of this ominous feeling that kept appearing. This memory fragment felt weird, off, and it didn't include the reason why he started feeling memory itself. Whatever was causing it...it was bad. Two breaths of time had passed since his rude and personal question, and he felt regret for asking it the way he had. Instead, he opened his mouth in apology and said;"Look...I'm sorry. You don't have to answer any of it, but just answer two questions please. If you don't want to, that's fine, you don't have to. "Are your parents Anna and Yan, and do you feel that ominous presence to the west?" WC: 366/669 TQWC: 1,833/4,700 |

Elijah rose to his feet from the ashes and blood on the ground and found himself going in a direction entirely foreign to him, but he could feel a draw. There was some 6th sense pulling him in the direction he’d come from; pulling him into the forest to the East. He gave in to the feeling ran swiftly. Dodging people and broken building pieces created excitement in his bones. Every step ignited with a flare of ki before a large aura blossomed around him. He left his feet, soaring high above the town and glided above the trees, scanning for any sign of… well, anything. It didn’t him take long to spot it. A large rock face bore a massive hole that led into almost pitch blackness. Flickering lights that danced along the mouth of the cave gave away it’s secret. Someone was inside, and Elijah had a very good guess as to who that might be. He landed softly beside a jagged boulder that rested at the entrance to the cavern. He saw her inside, the witch. He still did not know what that word meant. She was working diligently on something, he could barely see though as her fire was resting beneath a large cooking pot. She would go back and forth between gazing into it and flipping swiftly through pages in a large leatherbound book. Although he couldn’t be certain, the demon sensed that this was not your typical Betty Crocker cookbook. It became overwhelmingly tempting to enter as time drew into several minutes, but he resisted the temptation diligently. Watching and learning always seemed to do best, so he made the decision to observe for as long as possible. Several times the blonde human tossed something or another into the pot, occasionally stirring it for a few moments. He knew she was talking to herself, as there were jumbled noises coming from inside, but his distance and the caves echo distorted the words so he couldn’t understand them. He knew what she was capable of and was interested in perhaps acquiring her knowledge, so he had to come up with a way to either befriend her, or convince her it was in her best interest to indulge in him. That was blunt and right to the point which made Barkley visibly jump back and she held her hands up. He felt her parents in her, which was no good. She needed to learn how to suppress that immediately. But alas, there was always fun in lying. No matter what, “No one should know it’s you.” She skillfully smiled. “I haven’t heard the name Anna and Yan in such a long time. Allow me to introduce myself.” She bowed in such a curtsy. “My name is Bark Wanda, yes a weird name but I am a lot like tree bark. So many layer and each one harder than the last.” It was close to her actual name, but she was a child that wasn’t all to great with improvising. Her eyes were closed with her smile and she straightened herself up. “This video proves a murder that is all.” He then went on to talk about an ominous presence to the west and she looked toward that direction. Maybe…she should be able to sense things like that, but she hasn’t worked on that yet. She sniffed, however, and she then shrugged. “I don’t know what you are talking about? Help me take this to the police and I’ll happily go with you to investigate.” It was in her curious nature to figure out what he was talking about. “And as for Anna and Yan and if I’m a traveler or not. Maybe I am. I’ve had a few run-ins with those two as well.” That must have mean he was one as well, or close enough to it. “Who… are you?” *** The witch stopped everything she was doing and she cackled lowly. “So a demon has shown himself. Come closer curious one. What is it that I may do for you?” Her voice was gurgled as if she was choking on some kind of liquid. Her red eyes looked up from her cauldron and she slowly closed her book. “Maybe you can do something for me in return.” She pointed at him and then curled her finger to motion him closer to her. The response the Hybrid gave to Bark was simply silence and a questioning glance, but he didn't press his questions. True to his word, if she didn't want to answer truthfully--or at all--then that was her decision. Everything he had asked was personal, and the one about the traveler even more so, and could count as a dangerous question. His question about the video was met with an answer he suspected, based on the actions of the people who had tried to kill the girl minutes ago. It made sense for her to want to go to the police, and he simply nodded about helping her take it to the police on the other end of town. Now...how should he answer her question? The best lies had truth in them, and the closer to the truth they were, the easier it was to remember it. However, he didn't like lying, actually had never done it himself...but came close on several occasions. If someone phrased something right, gave enough of the truth away to sound as a plausible answer but still kept the rest hidden...it wasn't a lie. "You can call me Soul, but you'll have to pardon me from mentioning anything else for safety reasons. As for about me...maybe this will be enough to sate your curiosity." With that, he brought his tail out of his clothing and slowly waved it in front of him in the gesture of a wave; it's silver fur quite different from the rest of his race's. In fact, all about him was different, even his appearance, but he couldn't help his or Zyren's heritage. "Well...anyway, the police station is that way if I remember right." He gestured toward the direction of the police station and started to walk there at a slow pace so Bark could catch up, but if she wanted to fly or get there a different way; he wouldn't complain. Something had clearly given away Elijah’s position. The witch suddenly held a finger out in the direction of the cave entrance, beckoning him inside. She addressed him as a demon. How could she know that? He took a hesitant step after hesitant step into the musty cavern. The walls were shiny from condensation and followed the flames back and forth. It was certainly less than welcoming. The book lay open on the floor beside the cauldron, pages hanging loosely to the binding. The open page was headlined:
Was this witch a demon as well? He had to find out what she knew of hell and demonkind but struggled to find the words. Her hair was pulled out from her tattered clothing and hood now, falling nearly to her waistline. She was actually quite pretty by human standards, but her voice was wicked. It was cold, barren of the humanity that her face resembled. Words struggled to escape her throat. She had a proposition for him. He was curious what she’d want of him, but moreso of what she had to offer him. “That’s really the question, isn’t it?” Elijah finally sputtered. “What can you do for me? I seek knowledge and it appears your book is something I might find useful. What is it they call you, anyhow? A witch? What is a witch?” He was cautious with his questioning but blunt. He didn’t want to offend the girl, didn’t want enemies. Perhaps she was valuable to him, perhaps only her book was. Elijah didn’t want to waste the opportunity to find out. “What could you possibly want with a demon? When humans find out what I am, they’re appalled. They try not to offend me, but I can tell. They walk away more swiftly. They pull their children behind them. And they stare. I don’t even look different. So what is it you, a human, could want with me?” WC: 324/1116/3206 |

Barkley allowed him leader’s rights and she followed him rather than rushed. The moment wasn’t a lax one, don’t confuse it for such a thing; she was drawn by his tail. He was not human, which this earth consisted of, unless he was human and that was some mutation. The possibilities were endless, and Barkley pondered on it in her mind. It was easy to tell she was pondering as well by the way she looked forward toward Soul and then upward into thought. Alas, it was a very quiet trip, Soul was too close to figuring out her origin and simply because she felt like her parents. With that interesting bit of news spilled she was going to be prepared for next time. They had gotten to the police station and there Barkley dropped the bomb shell. It was true evidence to convict the blackhearts and she hoped it was not too late. Isaac did not need to be involved. She did not know, however, the young boy’s icy eyes followed her everywhere. While she was at the police station, anxiety attacking her heart, he was above a lamp post with his hands in pocket. If someone would look up to where he would be, his presence and appearance would be void as he disappeared. “Okay hopefully they find them before he does,” she said while leaving the police station. Now it was time to investigate the west. Barkley took one good look at Soul before she spoke again. “Come on, let’s go to the west and see what it is you are so worried about shall we? I can only do so much before my curfew hits.” After those words an aura unfolded underneath her words and legs before blasting about her entire form. She ripped the space between the ground and the air and left a streaking tail of light behind her as she flew to the West. *** “You are right… about demons I mean. But I find them beautiful tools for what they are truly worth doing.” The witch, who was hunched over from darkness and pain, had straightened herself. The straightening could not hide cracks of bone and the relief of tension release coming from her mouth. “A witch is a human who can perform magic that evades their senses. If they can’t understand how power works, it is magic. If you use magic you are a witch. Things such as the summoning of a demon or bringing life back.” The last bit about life brought a sadness to her eyes. It would seem maybe they caught her saving a life before it crossed over. Instead of applause or thankfulness, there were slaps and hatred. “There are some ingredients that I may need. I am going to summon a top tier demon to ravage the town… and possibly this world. I will summon the Demon Horse Entai right from the fires of Hell. Help me and I will satiate your curiosities.” Unknowingly, the two of them were being listened to by the Princess of Eavesdrop, Barkley. She had made it to the cave entrance somehow, maybe by the pull with Soul most likely along with her. Listening in on that part sent chills down her spine. “We can’t let this happen, Soul. That is a witch and a demon conspiring.” There was a level of excitement she was feeling at this moment. She couldn’t see exactly who was in there, but the conversation gave away enough details to make an accurate assumption. WC: 588 / 1,668 | TWC: 3,794 / 4,700 |

Barkley was fine simply allowing him take the lead, but whether that was a conscious decision or a subconscious one from the girl he didn't know. She did, however, stay quiet after he revealed his tail and kept it out and about, and a questioning glance back only served to tell him that thinking about something. Something he said or was, or was it simply something else? Hmm...no matter, what's hers is hers alone; but I wonder if I was wrong about her being related to Yan and Anna? Maybe I was...I've only met them once after all. Plus, my sense isn't what it used to be, and probably wont be for several years. With his thoughts to himself just like redhead's was with hers, it served to make a quiet trip until they reached the station and the young girl dropped the bombshell on the police; the effect quite similar to stirring up an anthill. With that done and out of the way, they exited the station only for Soul to sense...something... His eyes snapped up and to the right, mind searching for whatever it was that it picked up on, but what he saw was a lamp post...right? A fleeting shadow at most, just like the strange pressure that had vanished just as fast, leaving him to wonder if he had dreamed it. Maybe he had, his mind tired and confused as it was anyway, or maybe... "Strange..." he murmured to himself in thought, then simply shrugged and turned his attention back to Barkley who was both talking and looking at him. She mentioned his objective--if it could be counted as one--and something about her curfew. With that, she launched herself up and away, the action garnering an eye roll from the Hybrid before he too followed suit...albeit not as gracefully. There wasn't a power to sense, really, just his instincts, but within the hour they had made their way through the woods and toward the origin of the uncomfortable feeling. That Origin? A Cave, as cliche' as it was, but it served it's purpose, and his eye's narrowed at the sight of it. They crept up on it and listened to the conversation within, one which sent a chill up the girl's spine but caused Soul's frown to deepen even more. The memory fragment was so close, emitting a blinding light that only he could see and sense that lit up the night like a beacon, but he hadn't met a single being that had been able to Sense his memories bundled up and floating around the Universe like lost puppies. Would this time be different? No matter, he both needed to stop the plan that the witch and her conspirator had and also reclaim his fragment--and maybe answer a few more of his questions and unknown past. With a nod to Barkley about what she said, he spun around the corner with quiet steps and waited until he crested the room's entrance; only meters away from it's two occupants. With that, he grinned and spoke; "Well then, that must mean I'm a wizard to you two, right? Because my power--isn't something you'll understand!" With that, his grin turned wolfish, and he simultaneously gave a light bow and simply let the conscious control of his power go; setting a chain of events off while also stating his intentions quite thoroughly. The air began to shake with him at the origin of it, his skin quickly giving rise to a skin-tight, neon silver-white aura that bristled with power.
The shaking of the air turned into a catastrophic quake with the entrance of his aura, the appearance of which elicited a wave of air that blew outward with enough force to crack the walls and threaten the cave with collapse...and potentially knock everyone that wasn't himself over if they too didn't do something to fight back against it. Then, as quickly as it had begun, it was over, for everything had returned to normal except Soul's appearance; who now was basking in a silver-white aura. His wolfish smile but serious gaze and attitude tried to meet both the witch's and the demon's, who looked human, and he spoke once more; "I'm going to ask that you both stop and return to reason. I don't like causing pain, but I will if it means that I don't have to witness more pain, whether it be from me, people I know, or from innocents." Soul's threat was simple; stop, and we all walk away...or don't, and only he and Barkley would if it meant that a crisis could be averted. WC: 773/1,763 QWC: 4,567 (Nailed it) |

Anger flared inside Elijah’s core as he heard the final footsteps of approaching intruders. He himself was technically one, but one without ill intentions. He was doubtful another soul in the area would come to the cave of a witch without the mindset that she should be anything but six feet under. It was with great surprise then, when Elijah immediately recognized his new rather unwelcome guests. The strangely human beast from the woods and that little sprite from the forests with the red hair. Bark. A far as he could tell, she wasn’t the type to tame humans that behaved like animals, so his only conclusion would to be that this blonde man had lied and tricked him into believing he was something else. But why would he do that? The man was on two feet now, so it came as little more than a mild irritation to learn he could speak clearly as well. Elijah watched as he erupted into a silvery aura of ki similar to his own. His power, however, was clearly beyond that of the demon. The walls of the cave shook and he could hear deepset cracks in the boulders and earth that supported it. "I'm going to ask that you both stop and return to reason. I don't like causing pain, but I will if it means that I don't have to witness more pain, whether it be from me, people I know, or from innocents." A demand to stop? Elijah knew it was probably a lost cause, but the anger that flared inside him was too much. To take this away from him? When this could be his best chance at finding out how he wound up on Earth? For the first time in his life, Elijah felt tears pooling in the bottom of his eyelids. He could barely contain himself as purple sparks shot between his fingers and wrapped themselves around his legs before he erupted into his own brilliant cloak of violet energy. “You tricked me! Why would you pretend to be that which you are not? Do you find some sick gratification in playing make believe in the forest? And what the hell are you doing with Bark, bringing a child to danger seems awfully careless for a human.” His mind was flooded with emotions and memories. It suddenly came to him why this made him so furious. “This was my chance to discover my origins. A demon from hell could explain to me what the fuck I’m doing here and how to get back!” The book. Eli’s head whipped behind him as he saw it laying there, the rumbling of their combined powers causing it to shimmy towards the flames beneath the cauldron. That was the key. He had to get the book.
