Kami's Lookout was so high he was looking down the clouds. If the lofty mountains he was training in the monastery were directly below him, he still couldn't see them. Uriel was glad to be back on Earth and training again. The dark skinned, rotund Mr Popo had been kind and accommodating and Kami himself was stern but fair. Popo said that he was from the planet Namek he was directly tied to the Dragon Balls.

"Dragon Balls?" the angel inquired, setting aside the meal Kami's assistant had prepared for him.

"Oh, you don't know? They will grant almost any wish; power, money, the ability the bring the dead back to life and so on." Popo refilled the winged man's tea. "There are 7 of them, spread across the world. When you collect all of them an enormous, green dragon appears and will grant you your wish. Then turn to stone and fly across the globe again and are inert for one whole year."

Uriel had been listening intently to every detail. He had no desire for money, although his zeni pouch was usually pretty light. But power, yes power to defeat those who killed him and kill other innocent live. His thoughts were interrupted by his new master's voice.

"Mr Popo, can you bring Uriel to me, please?"

"Of course, Kami," he said, beckoning outside. "Don't worry, I will take care of the dishes."

The angel strode across the room and out towards the edge of the Lookout. Kami was waiting, his back turned towards the sky.

"I know you have recently been killed in battle and hesitant to engage in another," the aged master said. It was condescending or kind, just matter of factly. "But my son, if you are going to engage evil you have to rid yourself of that fear. You got in far over your head and that should be lesson in discretion, but do not let that fear paralyze you."

Uriel had been avoiding the topic both internally and externally. He still has flashbacks of nonhuman beast ripping him apart piece by piece. He took a deep breath and replied, "What is it you want me to do, Kami san?" He spoke with infinitely more respect than he with Roshi.

The green elder turned the the celestial. "There is another student of mine, brave and headstrong like you but his instincts are not as sharp. He has no idea that there are assassins trailing him to try to hurt me." Kami's eyes betrayed a small level of fear as he continued, "reclaim your fighting spirit, Uriel, and save my student."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A small, slender red fox like creature sat in the corner of a bar. She was making idle chit chat with a couple of men but her eyes focused on the pair of changelings huddled in the corner. The spoke in hushed tones, in a language she didn't speak anyway. Alef knew that their big shipment of illegal weapons was due and she wasn't going to miss this change. The alien pair moved away from the table and left out the back door.

"You'll have to excuse me, gentlemen," she said with a charming grin. "I just need to step out to make a call."

The nimble fox quickly walked out the front door, climbed the fire escape and on the side of the building and crouched down low, waiting for the opportunity to strike. The villains were just standing around, laughing to themselves and smoking cigarettes. What the hell are they waiting for?" she thought silently, impatient for the action to begin.

"This ain't a spectator sport, sweetheart," Alef jumped and turned at the voice as a laser blast hit her square in the chest, sending her crashing down on the asphalt right in front the changelings. She tried to lift her head, but a heavy boot sent the fox sprawling.

"You think you're so smart, huh?" one of them said. "We've letting you hit our small shipments to make you feel confident, and it worked like a charm."

One of the handsome men they she had sat with in the bar walked up her and lifted her head up so he could face her. "Kami can't save you know," he chucked as he hit her square in the jaw. "We're gonna send him back to you. Well, your head that is."

"It takes four of you to fight someone?" a new voice questioned. "And an ambush too. Sad, really. Well, it's still four versus one, let's play.

The human men rushed the angel from each side. Uriel kicked the attacker from behind in the sternum and drove his knee the gut of the other as he swung his leg around. The aliens started firing their laser at him but quickly threw a beam ball at each blast until the guns had to charge.

"My turn," Uriel said, a tight grin on his face. It wasn't the same as the epic fight from a month ago, but the thrill of battle still lingered. The winged man threw a handful of rapid fire ki shots the changelings, careful not to overdue do it. These scum weren't worth killing. The smoke cleared and her alien assailants we groaning and pain but made no indication that they could move.

It was time to check on Kami's student. A pretty young thing, despite the bloodied face. She'd be okay. Probably wouldn't even need a senzu been.

The angel knelt down to help her up, "are you ok?" Alef pointed a finger past him. Uriel sighed and caught the lone survivor in the chin, lifting high up as the evil man tried to sneak attack him. "The battle is clearly over. If I wanted I could level you all with a single blast." He picked up fox in his arms, "be careful you mess with. You might tangle with someone not as kind as I am." As he soared into the night sky he looked at passed out passenger. "You might take that same advice to heart," he said, softly. "I guess I didn't."

A dimly lit, small room was occupied by the young girl. Popo was attending to her many but not life threatening wounds. He had given some special tea for the pain to help her sleep.

"She should have been killed," Uriel said, softly. "That was reckless and poorly planned.

"I would say the same for you, you angel," the green elder replied.

The winged man turned to face Kami. "That is exactly my point, master. I was lucky that I was allowed special training and to return to Earth without the Dragon Balls. I am still not clear rules of the afterlife but there are fates far worse than death."

Kami led his student outside, a slightly exhausted tone in his voice, "what you have me do? All I can is train my students, I can't force them to do anything. And I can't protect them from greater dangers, far more powerful than I." He stopped at the edge of the Lookout, looking down on its inhabitants. "How do you feel after you first battle after your death."

"Well," Uriel joined the Namekian. "I could tell I was more powerful, and had better knowledge of my surrounding but the there were just petty thugs. I've dealt with similar plenty of times in my travels before that massacre. I'm nowhere near ready to fight monsters that powerful. And while I'm wise enough to know I need much more training it's hard for me not to be impatient."

Kami turned back from his perch, "you have a lot to ponder, young Uriel. And I can only try and help you focus them. Before I turn in I will you know an observation I have noticed. You helped my student, you helped fight evil before you sought training and you tried to avenge a whole town of people, who you didn't know, against impossible odds. That is still your purpose, servant of the Gods."

The winged man watched as the elder walked away. There were good people who trying to fight the multitude of evil beasts in the world. The Saiyan Sunchoke, the friend from the Next Dimension, Bleu, Kami's student, Alef...there had to be so much more. Together they bring justice to the pair of monsters on that snowy battlefield and all other tried to murder and exploit the weak. He walked into the room with Mr Popo and the mending fox."

"You saved her life, Uriel," the turbaned man said, his deep voice down to a whisper.

"I wish I had gotten there a bit sooner. She's so young..."the angel's voice trailed off. "Mr Popo, I'm going to leave a for a bit, maybe even a few days. I believe Kami already knows. Let Alef know I checked in on her please."

"Be careful Uriel," Popo said as the celestial walked out the door. The winged picked up the pace before spiriting off the ledge of the tower. He dove, straight down hurtling towards the earth and just beneath the cloud line righted himself. Gliding aimlessly way from the rising sun, he cleared his mind from everything except the nature around him.

Uriel had been gliding through the sky for hours, when noticed a grumbling noise from deep within his belly. He had skipped dinner to go save Kami's student and had neglected to eat something before he ventured out again. He spotted, ironically enough, a long abandoned eagle's nest and landed softly on it. The winged man took out his drink pouch and a small packet of salted nuts. Gazing at the mountain pass ahead of him, as he took a large gulp of his drink, he was reminded of home. Not in a longing way but more a thoughtful manner. It had been nearly six months since he had left the monastery and so many things he had befallen the angel. He made a note to write them all down at some point.

The celestial finished his snack, took another few sips of his water before putting it back, and stood up again, wiping the crumbs off of his dark clothes. He spread his his arms out high, stretching before his he took flight again, his large, majestic golden wings following suit. The angel frowned as looked away from the mighty peaks and towards to bay far off towards the south. A dark energy was looming there, and he had no doubt it was powerful. He sensed people screaming in terror. Begging for life. Dying. It was just like the battle the evil knights. He had to be ready to put his fears aside and do what Kami said; help the weak. He flapped his powerful wings and took to the sky with renewed purpose and speed, trying to quell the new cause of his stomach aching.
