Giving an irritated growl, Slade paced about the room. He had been asked by Capsule Corporation to test a device they were planning on put on the market that wasn’t a capsule. The android didn’t know what the object would be, but he did know that it would be dangerous. Considering what he was, the raven-haired man thought he could easily handle whatever would be thrown at him. However, he felt somewhat pent up with energy as he continued to pace about and wanted to get started on the practice as soon as possible. As if the beings above had heard his thoughts, a pair of men in white lab coats approached the android. The pair explained that the device they were testing was a combat droid that was meant for those that wanted to push their limits. So, they decided who better than an android that seemed to be somewhat competent at fighting.

”Well, I could always do with the training,” the android said with a slight smirk. ”Who knows? It might even prove to be a challenge for me.” His cockiness was somewhat well-earned as he hadn’t yet met someone that could keep up with the pace and duration he preferred to keep his fights. He doubted that a simple robot created by some scientists that had probably never been in a real fight would stand much of a chance.

The young man decided to follow the pair to a better protected room for the ensuing fight. He of course had the option to tell them to bring the device to him, but that might have ended up with more casualties than he’d prefer. Rolling his shoulders and stretching out his arms, Slade gave a smirk as he stepped into a room lined with what appeared to be a very durable material. He didn’t feel like testing its integrity just yet as that would only delay the start of the testing, but he knew that he’d have to test it at some point. A cocky grin played on his lips as the young man as he tapped the walls and gave a chuckle of appreciation. There was one thing that he enjoyed more than fighting, and that was fine craftsmanship of something metallic. Upon the sound echoing around the rather large room, five small devices floated down and gave beeps intermittently.

The scientists looked at the small devices before darting a glance at Slade. It was almost frightening to see someone so calm when against the unknown. They quickly stepped out and sealed the door to the room. The moment the door was sealed, the drones began floating around and blinking in odd color patterns. The android smirked as he watched the quintet of devices weaving intricate patterns in the air. It was almost mesmerizing until the raven-haired man remembered why he was brought in. Raising a hand as he tracked one of the objects, he fired a simple ki blast and heard a deep tone. If he had to guess, it was something close to the sound a tenor would make.

As if the sound was a cue, the drones began moving more erratically and firing small bursts of bullets towards the android. The first volley pelted the young man before he was able to get away. It was surprising that these things would immediately jump to the offensive once they were hit. He grunted and moved to the side before the next volley could hit him. It was difficult to see where the next shot would come from, but he just had to remain in constant motion. It was a blessing that he wouldn’t feel the normal effects of fatigue on his body. Growling as he held out a hand and retaliated against the cluster of small devices, Slade was relieved that he managed to throw one of them off course. It only brought him slight satisfaction as he darted to the side to avoid another hailstorm of bullets. It was hard to keep up with the steadily increasing speed of his targets. Slade growled as he twisted his body and felt his feet slam much harder than he planned against the wall of the room.

It was as if the scientists had slowly started increasing the gravity hoping that the android wouldn’t notice. It was difficult to not notice his body slowly being dragged down against the wall. Another volley slammed into the young man and brought him to the ground. He gave a grunt before struggling to his feet quickly enough to scramble away from yet another volley of bullets. The man smirked and rolled to the side before firing yet another ki blast at the drones. He saw that it had managed to clip one of the small robots and cause it to spin out of control. The blow was enough to cause the thing to ricochet off the walls a few times before righting itself.

This was going to be a difficult testing session, but it was starting to get more and more predictable. It wasn’t the firing patterns as those seemed to constantly be targeting the android and even leading the shots; however, the movements were getting more and more simplistic as they tried to keep their shots always aimed in the direction of their target. The increased gravity wasn’t affecting the small objects, and Slade wasn’t sure if that was because of their size or if a compensator was built into them. Whatever the case was, it was going to be interesting to see if he could keep up at the pace he was going.

Rolling his shoulder as he deflected the next volley, Slade was surprised that he was able to at least move some of the bullets out of their planned trajectory. A smirk played on his lips as he realized that he could use this to his advantage. Darting to the left, the raven-haired android chuckled as he fired off three quick ki blasts at the same spot, catching one of the small drones repeatedly. It dropped to the ground with what sounded like a crash to the young man’s satisfaction. The satisfaction was short lived as he felt three more bullets slam into his chest. Grunting at the contact, Slade couldn’t help but growl as he went back to his method of sprinting around the somewhat small room.

The android could feel himself getting slower as more and more time passed. There was definitely some sort of testing that was going just beyond what the drones could do. It seemed that Slade was also being tested on what limits he could surpass and if he was more than just some simple pre-programmed machine to fight. Slowly exhaling as he let his power level climb higher, the pressure of the gravity seemed to lessen and he could feel his speed coming back to him. A cocky smile played on his lips as he kicked off the ground and slammed his fist into the center of one of the drones. A satisfying crunch brought a smirk to the young man’s lips before a hellstorm of bullets slammed into his back.

He smirked as he removed the thing from his fist and casually flung in the direction of one of its compatriots. The shot easily missed the target but it gave the android a feeling of satisfaction. He already destroyed two of the annoyances and with his speed back where he wanted it, the blue-eyed man could keep up with the bullets that were being fired at him. With every increase of the gravity, he kept pushing his power closer to its limit. He knew that it was dangerous to keep seeing his limit against three still-functioning devices that kept trying to pepper him.

As each minute passed, he grew closer and closer to his limit. He knew that he couldn’t surpass his limit as things stood, but he was willing to stay at his limit if he had no other option. Taking a deep breath in hopes of ending it in a burst of speed, Slade pushed his power to the limit as he kept moving around the room, firing ki blasts in hopes of dropping the number further and much quicker than before. He was done playing with the little toys that he was handed, and he wanted to see just how quickly he could finish the remaining drones. With a growl, he kicked off the ground and unleashed ki blast after ki blast at each of the small things. The synthetic being knew he should lead the shots, but it seemed that his energy was enough to disintegrate the bullets from the heat from them alone.

Feeling the gravity return to what he was used to outside of the chamber, Slade cocked an eyebrow when he saw the attack drones drop to the floor. The sound of a door opening behind him caused the android to turn around and see the people that requested his presence walking on the ceiling. Blinking a few times before righting himself, the synthetic humanoid floated to the ground and sighed with a slight wince. Even though it felt like he had only been there for a few hours, he knew it had been only been a few minutes. It had taken him a while to get used to operating at much higher speeds than before, but it seemed that he had gotten a relatively good grip for now. Dismissing his musings, he listened as the men explained that it was more of a test to see what level of gravity their robots could operate while against something that moved at just as high speeds. They hadn’t expected him to end up destroying two of the drones, but they were acceptable losses to testing. As far as he was concerned, the small objects shouldn’t have been firing at him if they weren’t meant to be destroyed.

The synthetic man shrugged his shoulders as he stepped out of the room behind the scientists. As things stood, he was glad to finally be done and push his limits slightly. He wasn’t going to push himself too hard too quickly, but he didn’t want to take things too slow either. The future ahead was sure to be full of harsh lessons and even harsher training if he bothered to apply himself. However, the raven-haired synthetic man knew better than to rely on luck when it came to getting stronger. As a result, he would have to find bigger challenges and find new limits to break. Thankfully, he just had to collect his payment and be on his way. In a way, Slade was glad that he had a chance to work with higher gravity for a few minutes. There was a feeling in him that it wasn’t enough to get him that much stronger, but at least he’d be able to adapt a tad bit quicker when he felt the effects.
