”I do have something for you though,” Yan says, turning his attention back to the fox, still shaking his head at the ASI. He reached into his back pockets, slipping the cuff into one as he pulled something else out. He held his closed fist out and waited for Daji to open his under it. What he passed onto him was a simple button. It was larger than a shirt button but no bigger than a one hundred zeni coin. In its top two holes a cord was pulled through, long enough that it could easily be worn around one’s neck, or tied elsewhere. The cord itself was Gracelander, and would prove quite durable. The button itself was...Well, Daji wouldn’t be able to figure out what it was made from. It wasn’t like hard plastic but it wasn’t quite like stone or steel either. It was something else, something conductive, and if he paid it enough mind to it he would get a very familiar feeling from it. It felt a lot like a gem of telepathy, and that all Daji had to do was focus and he would be in the Astral Realm in moments. ”It’s an, uhm...well,” Yan started, awkward once more. He pulled his hand back and scratched the back of his neck as he turned away from the fox, heading towards small bar. ”If you use that, it’ll send you to me directly...so if you need anything...And in an emergency, you can also put your own energy into it, like your runes, and I’ll get it immediately...If you do that though I’ll probably show up guns ablazing or something, so treat it with care.” All the while he spoke he was focused more on his hands that were already on two glasses, ice, and then a bottle of some sort, unsealing it with ease. It was a bit embarrassing really. 319 |

(Combat Rune, Telepathic Link) The protest towards keeping the bracelet was a little crushing--he should have expected that kind of reaction, but he had been a little impulsive as well, so the Kitsune managed to hold back his look of sadness with a bit more of composure than he probably felt at the moment. Still, when Jutters spoke up, Daji couldn't help but giggle at their exchange. He recognized the name though, and hearing it caused him to cut himself off from his cheer and contemplate the name a little. Bulma had said that name when she looked at the device back on Vegeta... he had no idea who that was, though, aside from its name and origin. It was clear the fox was thinking hard on something when the name was mentioned, missing most of the dialogue between his warden and the space whale they were sitting in, but it was clear that whoever Sei Edgen was, he wasn't liked... at all, apparently. However, when Yan brought up something else for the boy, he tilted his head to the side a little, curious as to what it was as he tried to look around Yan's body to see what it was, almost like a pet interested in whatever their master was hiding, but soon enough, something was produced. A strange button, almost like that on a shirt but bigger, and when Daji held it in his hands after it was offered, he felt the material... it had a weight to it, and the texture was all wrong for... most other things the boy was aware of. He tilted his head to the opposite side as he looked at it, but he managed a smile all the same before slipping it on around his neck. "Thank you... I appreciate it, Yan," he said with an affection and sincerety that seemed to put Yan on the backfoot, an awkwardness entering his voice and stance as he turned away, heading for the bar he kept. Hayami had warned her mate not to drink anything in there, and so far, Daji had kept his promise--it honestly smelled like the odd stuff Hayami's father had given him to drink, and judging by the reaction last time, he wasn't exactly thrilled to drink more of that funny stuff anyway. "Don't worry, I'll take care of it, I promise," the Kitsune said as he followed after his warden, always the loyal pet if Yan ever decided to make the distinction. He couldn't help but display his affection for the man, even if he had practically thrown Hayami and himself into a kind of prison cell shortly after they first met. Still, he could not help his abject curiousity. "Where... where are you going? And... who is Sei Edgen? Bulma spoke about him when I met her, too..." WC: 470 |

Yan nodded absently to Daji’s agreements, only to blink as he found the boy next to him asking about Edge of all people. Well, first he asked where Yan was going. The monkey hadn’t said explicitly that he was going anywhere but he supposed even Daji could read the room. Where was he going? It would likely take the boy asking him another time for him to even scramble up a reply. He didn’t really know how to answer it to begin with. ”Bulma?” he asks instead, his head tilting. ”Bulma Briefs?” Just as Daji had figured out from the very beginning, Bulma was very well known throughout the galaxy. For once, Yan did not speak of someone in that stature with his normal familiarity, but the more average almost starstruck surprise. It was quite the privilege after all. Wasn’t she missing? ”I guess she would have a good understanding of them,” he notes as his gaze shifted away in thought, curious of the two major Earth companies and what kind of personal dynamic that would leave them. He didn’t know the half of it. ”Ah,” he says, realizing her diverged and hadn’t answered the question. He was good at getting back to ones not about himself. ”Edge is…” He paused, not wanting to say human even though that was...probably accurate? ”An earthling,” he decides. ”Mad genius type, a bit less composed than Bulma Briefs, but also well known on the circuit. They’re not a bad person, per se…” THEY’RE JUST EASY TO MAKE FUN OF… was Juturna’s addon which made Yan shake his head just a little. ”They made Juturna, who space whale aside, is actually an artificial super intelligence. The amount of data she collects daily...Well, let’s just say she’s not a very welcome existence after the Steel Legion.” THAT’S WHY MISTER CASS STOLE ME… (╹◡╹)♡… They were getting very off topic, but it made Yan hum as he realized he wasn’t quite sure what to do with Juturna while he traveled in a much more complicated fashion. Ideally...Well, it was something to hum about as he poured the two drinks. 356/675 |

Yan avoided the question concerning where he was going--then again, the Kitsune figured he was likely where he wanted to be, and questioning his motives in the past had yielded... rather vague answers. He had also thrown around a lot of questions as well lately, confused as he was. Daji did not immedoately pursue the issue--after all, he probably wasn't going to get a good answer just yet. The topic of Bulma came up, surprising the young fox for a moment before he managed to nod. "Y--yes, she helped me back on Vegeta--er, the planet, that is," he clarified, though he was not sure whose benefit the clarification was for really. All these things named one thing made his head spin a little. So of the Prince had a son, would they--he was getting side tracked. He listened to the explanation of Sei Edgen and his company, apparently some kind of rogue or rival to Bulma's company? Mad genius type did not exactly sound too inviting, especially with how Yan was careful with his words and how Jutters piped up. So Jutters was made by Sei... that would make him really smart and creative, right? But then, he remembered the stories about the Steel Legion from Hayami and other people and almost shivered at the thought. Maybe Jutters should probably lay low a little... Daji turned towards the nearest screen and nodded to the space whale. "Don't worry, Jutters, I won't tell anyone. You're very nice," he said before trying to hig the screen. It was a bit of an awkward hug, but he hoped he got the message across. He then looked back over towards Yan and tilted his head. "Bulma... she had some strong thoughts about Sei, if I remember right. But... if he built Jutters, and you had to steal Jutters, does that make him dangerous?" the fox kit asked, unsure of himself. He was curious about Sei back on Earth, and if Daji was going to visit it, he would probably try to meet him... maybe. "Or... or should I find out for myself?" WC: 352 / 822 |

Yan expected a more surprised reaction when Jutters explained she was stolen. Daji was perhaps too used to Yan’s questionable antics at this point. For the most part, everything Daji knew Yan handled, no matter how crazy that actual part was, turned out for the best. It was fascinating to think of the difference in opinions the fox who he imprisoned had over the officer he had stepped in to save from the two kits. Both were small manipulations on his part, but the results had brought things to completely opposite sides of the spectrum. Still, the money smiled when Daji attempted to hug one of the screens. The one just in the corner of Yan’s view switched to HELP, I’M SUFFOCATING!... while Daji’s displayed a much warmer ╰(*´︶`*)╯ Both of which caused Yan to make another snort. He was going to miss this ship. He lifted the two glasses and nodded for the fox to follow him back to their seats. Despite the good humor, he seemed to take Daji’s last two questions very seriously, his face slipping back into that quiet neutrality. He passed one glass over the table to the fox. ”One won’t hurt you. It’s not strong.” Then he leaned back and sipped his own while making a small face. ”Edge is…” Another pause, another hesitation. ”Edge is the most dangerous person I have ever come across,” he admits, looking to the fox. His expression shifted to a wide thin lipped smile as he seemed obviously a bit perturbed but trying to brush it off as he thought of all the things Sei Edgen could do. He glanced away after, taking another sip from his drink before continuing. ”But I don’t consider them a bad person,” he says, thoughtful again. ”Edge is also the most empathetic person I have ever come across.” There seemed to be a joke mixed in there somewhere, because Yan smiled again a bit deviously at the statement, but when he looked back to Daji it was clear the statement at least was true. The definition Yan had given Daji over good and bad applied here. Edge carried perspective, and thought heavily on how other people felt. If everything they did reflected that, than yes, they would be “good.” Edge seemed to like to suffer however. ”Some would say Bulma Briefs is quite dangerous. Intellect is a very fearsome power,” he explains. ”It’s like fire. It can keep someone alive but it can also burn things to the ground. It all depends on how it’s used, but no matter how, it’s still dangerous.” 433/1108 |

To say Daji was pleased with the reaction on the screen he hugged was an understatement--a very warn smile played across his lips when he saw the picture, and he could not hekp but remember Jutters' help when it came to teaching hin how to read and write. Yan had helped a lot in that area as well, of course--but before he could reflect on his early days on Grace and thank them both for it, Yan nodded back towards the sitting area, allowing the Fox to follow his warden back to the conversation. When he was passed a glass of the funny-smelling stuff, Daji squinted at the glass he was given, his ears flattening against his head for a moment until Yan assured him one glass would not hurt him. He was reminded of what Hayami's father had said about that as well, but Daji honestly trusted Yan more than Chaos. He managed a few sips of the odd drink, finding it a lot mofe enjoyable than the one he had been given back on Vegeta--er, the planet--but he could not help but look away from the glass when the subject of Sei was continued. Yan described the man as dangerous, yet also empathetic. This surprised the ninja particularly--after all, one of his first lessons from Yan was to be empathetic, to understand the emotions and motivations of others instead of only his own. The mark of a good person. He could not help but compare himself to this situation--he was dangerous too, wasn't he? Mayne there wasn't a whole lot of difference between himself and Sei... but when Yan brought up Bulma as possibly dangerous as well, that both her and Sei were intelligent enough to be dangerous, Daji started to understand the dilemma. Bulma had cared for Daji almost his entire time on Vegeta, despite giving him quite the beating in that arena... "She was... very smart, yes. She seemed to know so much about things. Planets, people, cybernetics... There was a lot she talked about that I didn't quite understand or couldn't imagine. If Sei is similar to her... then her disapproval of him must be something personal that had happened. I'll... try to observe from afar, for now," he tried to say, remembering Yan's expression from earlier. "I know I want to meet him, and he might become a friend. I think I would like that--are you and Sei friends?" he asked, suddenly wondering how Yan knew of the man so much. 419 / 1241 |

Yan smiled as Daji explained his new friend, only a tiny bit jealous. He found himself shrugging though as Daji discerned the feud between Briefs and Edgen was something more personal. He could think of a number of reasons not personal why Bulma might have strong feelings against the dimensional scientist, but that wasn’t much of his business, and listing things would probably just confuse Daji more. The kit continued, taking more interest in Edge than the monkey liked. It wasn’t necessarily a bad thing, but the scientist knew enough about Yan that he wanted to keep everyone away from them as much as he could. Edge knew how to be discreet but…Yan was taking another sip of his drink when Daji got to his last question which almost caused the monkey to choke. Him and Edge, friends? It wasn’t like he hadn’t tried. He wasn’t sure how to explain this one to Daji. Edge did not consider him a friend or even a peer. They were much older than Yan in ways, which made them treat him like a child, but there was also a fundamental issue that got between them: Yan was a bad person. With all the empathy Edge possessed they could pity Yan, they could want to help him, but at the end of the day, Yan always let them down. He always acted in a way that undid anything good he had tried to do. Eventually, he hurt someone, and badly. ”No,” he answers softly, a somewhat sad smile on his face before he took another sip. ”We’ve done business together. They’ve gotten me out of a few binds and we have some common interests,” he explains, understanding the reasoning behind Daji’s questioning. He did know Edge pretty well, as much as a friend might. ”I’m quite useful, don’tcha know?” he adds with a small smirk. As bad as he was, if Edge needed someone to get their hands dirty, well they knew who to call. Even if it wasn’t something as diabolical as all that, everyone knew, Yan got the job done. ”Juch and them are kinda friends though,” he notes with another smirk. ”But Juch doesn’t do friends.” 365/1473 |

The revelation that Yan and Edge weren't friends was... arguably rather surprising. He had expected them to be so, since he seemed to know so much about Sei, his company, or at least seemingly so. Common interests and a few helpful offers... well, that soumded like a friend to Daji, but maybe someone needed more to be a friend than just that. Or maybe Yan didnt want to be friends with Sei... it was hard to tell, and fhe way Yan spoke made it seem like he would probably care more about a different subject. Then the subject of Mister Juch came up, and once again, the Kitsune's ears perked up, surprise on his face as his head tilted to the side. His drink was largely forgotten in his hands at that point. "T--truly? Mister Juch was... has always been so nice to me and Hayami..." he said, a genuine look of concern on his face for a moment. "I--I knew he was connected to a lot of different people... but him not truly liking or having friends? Surely its not all that bad, right?" he asked in disbelief, finding it hard to believe that about Mister Juch. "How... how did you and Mister Juch meet, though? I always see you talking to him about things... surely you two are friends?" If anything disturbed the Kitsune, it was certainly that. He really did not like the idea of having to doubt his friendship with everyone he held dear, but it seemed like the more time he spent around Yan, the more his own eyes were being opened to different things... yet, he still did not feel differently about Mister Juch, Yan, or anyone else. He kept holding them in such high esteem. He didn't like the idea of doing so differently... Maybe the rumors were true and Yan was just crazy... no, that couldn't be it at all! 321 / 1562 |

Yan's head tilted a little at Daji's response. He had meant to take a jab at Juch but the way Daji answered posed a larger problem for the ever learning kit. "Daji, there's more to being someone's friend than just being pleasant with them. Even more than just liking them," he explains his expression softening again as he realized the innocence of this misunderstanding. It was easy for Daji with the life he lived to think of Yan and Juch friends, because he never had a reason to truly distrust them. No one besides GRIME had truly gone out of their way to trick and harm him, and even that Daji gave just cause and blamed himself. "To be friends with someone, real friends, you have to like them yes, but you also have to trust them. You have to be willing to share yourself with them and accept what parts they share with you. The deeper the friendship goes the more you align yourselves with them. You stand for them, with them, no matter what." He paused there, trying to think on his life and what "friends" he had truly had. He could only think of one person who had broken through even the surface for him in the last who knows how many years, and even them, Yan would kill if he had to. Such was the life he led. "People like me and Juch don't do friends very easily," he explains, looking back to Daji with a smile of almost apology. He wasn't trying to purposely break the pristine images Daji had built but he had never meant for the boy to build them either. Juch can be kind, but don't mistake that for friendship. He would never trust you past a calculated risk, he would never give you pieces of himself, and at the end of the day if you end up on the wrong side of his plans...he will take you down." It was strange the way he said it, even if it carried his normal more factual tone. There was admiration at the start, to frustration, to admiration once again. He respected Juch's ability to trust, if you could call it that. It was impressive though, the way he spun his web with carefully chosen words and stories, affection and discipline. He was a leader, and you never got truly personal with a leader, no matter how it seemed, which is where the almost frustration kicked in. As much as Yan could understand the reasoning, he had wanted parts of Juch to keep, but he never got them. In the end, the feeling faded out and returned to the previous admiration because that was what it was all about: the end goal. Whether it was to make a warm and welcome society or something much move maleficent, Juch stood by his convictions and did not let anyone stand in their way. He did it with grace, and he did not harm people just to harm them. Everything was thought out, planned, and carried. Yan liked Juch, even now. "As for me~" he says after taking another gulp of his drink a devious grin returning. "I'm not the trustable sort. I went under Juch's care after betraying my former commander, going as far as kicking her in the face when she was already heavily weakened. Might have killed her, I never asked." He said it all lightly. He was leaving now, and his guidance for the kit was ending. He had helped him enough that Daji could stand on his own two feet. It was time to face the truth of the matter. If he was to learn about trust, than he should know that he should not trust his warden, at least not as much as he did now. 636/2k+ |

This was when Yan decided to get a little more serious. He softened the blow with his expression, but the Kitsune still found it hard tp meet his gaze when he spoke. He wanted something else to focus on, finally remembering the drink in his hands, so he took another sip of it--slightly less regretfully than the last sip. Friendship being more than just nice, civil, supportive--there had to be trust. And indeed, the Kit knew he trusted both Yan and Juch with his life... But did they trust him at all? He wasn't so sure of that part--he had not exactly proven himself reliable when he was last on Grace, though Yan and Juch both made it a point to remind him that none of what happened was his fault--so why did that pit in his stomach still make it feel like it was? He felt confused... But there was one part he knew he wasn't so confused about. Would he stand with them, no matter what? The two people that gave him a new home when he squandered the first? Even if he could go back to Earth, living the life he used to... no, it wouldn't be home for him anymore. Grace was his hime now, as... volitile as it could be at times. Yes... no matter what happened, he would stand by Mister Juch and his warden, Yan. Even if this... even if this meant he might not ever see Yan again, he would still trust and stand by him. He fingered the pendent around his neck, as if to reassure himself he would see Yan again. To stand beside him, no matter what. He said they don't do friends easily... well, maybe they didn't have to, if Daji made sure to be there when they needed him. The pendent had a small shred of Yan's aura on it... how long had he been keeping it with him? Maybe he could attune his teleportation rune to it... so he could always go where Yan would need him. "I... I don't care if you or Mister Juch don't trust me. I trust you both. Even if that doesn't make us friends--I'll still call you that, no matter what. If... if you ever need me for anything, Yan, I'll be there," he said, managing to look up towards his mentor and warden with a small smile. There was hope in his eyes. "Even if you don't like being called that. You're my friend--now and forever." he managed to say, his typical naivete showing again, but... He felt so strongly about this, almost just as strongly as he felt about Hayami. And somehow, in the back of his mind, he knew she trusted Yan as well. They probably would not be here if they hadn't. 468 / 2k+ |
