A figure streaked through the sky at an abnormally fast speed, much faster than a bird--much bigger too--yet not faster or as flashy as an airplane. Upon closer inspection, the figure would become humanoid, and closer still revealed that it was a blonde-headed youth that looked like a human save the mismatched eyes.

One was an icy blue, the other a soft amber; they belonged to the Hybrid, Soul!

He yawned, eyes a tad bleary from both the speed he was traveling at and the lack of sleep he had gotten last night. It had just started to get good too, but a rude phone call from Roshi quickly fixed that; for the Turtle Hermit had a request of the half-Saiyan.

Soul's first impulse was to tell him to buzz off, especially since both him and Roshi couldn't exactly be called students, or even friends. Acquaintances was a stretch, but it wasn't his fault, nor Roshi's. In his Universe, before the God known as Liqiur had nearly killed him in body and spirit--and Zyren's unexpected save via the Astral Plane--both Izu and Roshi had been quite close.

This Universe was so similar...yet so different.

Thanks to Master Roshi helping fix both Zyren's and Soul's "broken" body, or more so; the Meridans and Ki Passageways! Before he had taken the chance and told Roshi, any time he attempted to use Ki--even in the tiniest amounts--would injure their body. That was because the passageways were a hybrid between this Universe's Ki-laws and his Universe's due to their sudden fusion.

How that happened was a story in itself, and even he didn't know the details...

Soul did bet that Zyren knew, but trying to ask his partner anything beyond "fight, food, or sleep" was nearly impossible since he put a stubborn mule to shame.

While the timelines and people may be similar, the way that most fighters charged, created, and used Ki were fundamentally different. With their passageways partially correct and wrong, anytime either of them tried to use Ki, they suffered a backlash, and that wasn't including the backlash caused if Soul used a technique that wasn't born of this Universe.

One of his techniques.

So, he had gone to Roshi, and the short story was that his body had been deconstructed and rebuilt by extracting both of the Hybrid's souls and formed individually. Then, when that was complete, they were "deconstructed" enough that they could "Fuse" into one body; the result being was that this fusion was more complete, more logical. Instead of the risk of their passageways or meridans, or anything getting fudged...they simply had a "switch" of sorts built into their consciousnesses.

When one wanted to be in control, the switch flipped, causing a minute change in their body while their minds flipped. With that switch, everything different flipped, preventing harm or the risk of something happening.

Of course, it all sounded simple, but it wasn't--not in the slightest.

Instead, it felt like his skin was being flayed away, the veins purged with hellfire, every muscle torn and shredded; and all the bones shattered and ground into powder all at the same moment...except that it lasted nearly an hour. When that was over, Roshi constructed Zyren's body, and when that was complete, began to work on his.

That was where the real problem began.

Soul had forgotten one very important consequence of having Roshi perform the ancient and forbidden technique of Innate-Ki-Body-Restoration. The basis of the technique was to destroy the body was preserving the mind and soul, and rebuild the body by letting the mind and soul work in conjunction to make the "correct' body for it. One couldn't influence it in any way, such as wishing to be stronger, or faster, for the body was built to the "blueprint" of the soul.

The technique wasn't something to be made light of, because the slightest mistake on the master's part could cause a great many, very, very bad things to result. However, it was aimed to fix someone who couldn't be fixed by mundane, magicial, or Ki ways.

Basically...it caused the patient(s) innate power to burst forth and heal itself via the soul...but Soul had forgotten that his soul remembered the power that he had before he had been destroyed by Liqiur; the God of Destruction in his Universe, and saved by Zyren via the Astral Plane.

He nearly destroyed the island and would have obliterated everything within several thousand miles if something hadn't intervened...but as to what it was, Soul had to admit he didn't know. He did, however, know that whatever had intervened was strong, very strong--even considering his power before he had been reduced to barely anything to match Zyren.

So...Soul owed Roshi quite a bit if he was being lax, and a life-debt if he wasn't.

Master Roshi wanted Soul to come to the Island to both meet someone and perform a duty for him--the rest would be explained once he reached Kame house.

All of this flashed through his mind in the half an hour of steady flying it took before his gaze and Sense alighted on Roshi Island, the latter discovering two Ki-Signatures, one unfamiliar, the other Roshi. Soul descended in an arc and landed with barely a sound or disturbance to the island below.

Then he took a moment to dust himself off, straighten his crazy hair as best he could--which was hard to do thanks to their genes, and headed for the screen door. With a knock, he made his presence known, and the pit-pat of sandals greeted his ears a second before Roshi's hunched figure stepped into view and let him in.

Soul stepped inside, eyes already moving to-and-fro to take in the room like second nature, and stopped when he saw the owner of the unfamiliar energy.

It...was a girl, and if Soul could judge correctly, she looked to be about Zyren's age. She had blue hair and was dressed in normal attire, but Soul looked away before he could ascertain anything else. It was rude to stare, and even if her hair was blue--his was once Silver before he fused with Zyren.

The Hybrid did, however, take a step forward and raise an arm in greeting and spoke to both Roshi and the newcomer;

"Hello Master Roshi, and greetings, my name is Soul, what's yours?"

A couple of hours before

”Wakey wakey Master Roshi!” Ginny shouted enthusiastically next to the old hermits bed.

“Whhaahhhhaaa” Roshi screamed as he shot up from his bed and almost tumbled out, completely startled by the sudden wake up call from the young girl, “What’s going on?! Where’s the fire?!”

”Oh, don’t worry there is no fire, but you need to get up now to start my training!”

”You training…, The old man blinked his eyes a few time as he relaxed a bit again as she assured him that nothing bad was going on. He turned to look at his alarm clock only to agitate again, “SIX THIRTY? It’s only six thirty! Damn it, kid! The sun isn’t even rising yet and I was just in the middle of a dream with this cute blond… euhm…. student, yeah of course, I was training a student, hehe….”

The Turtle Hermit sighed as he looked at the happy face of his newly arrived student, “Go back to bed, Ginny, we will start your training in a few hours.”

“I’m sorry, Master, I know it’s still early but I couldn’t sleep anymore, I’m so exciting to start my training!” she grinned, clearly not ready to give up already.

He signed again, “Alright, alright, just give an old man a bit time to get ready and have breakfast will ya? Go wash some dishes if you want to keep busy in the mean time…”

“Oh but I did that already yesterday after dinner!”

Of course you did…. , Roshi mumbled, ”Then go vacuum clean the bedroom please.”

“But I did that yesterday afternoon while you were taking a nap! she replied still with the same enthusiasm as before.

“Damn girl, what meds are you on….? Go do something, anything!”

The overly happy look on her face slowly faded and instead she looked slightly confused now. “I don’t understand what you mean, Master Roshi, I’m not taking any medication.”

The old man waved his hand and briefly should his head as a gesture to say she should just ignore that comment, ”Just go to West City, I’m sure they have some shops that are open twenty four seven, go buy some groceries for dinner tonight and a couple of other things that or on the list downstairs.”

”Yes Master! I’m on it! she smilled, glad that she had finally something to do, and she was already at the bedroom door, “I’m back before you know it!” she added cheerful, while running down the stairs.

“TAKE YOU TIME! Take your time…uggh…. ” Roshi tried to say but she was gone already. With another sigh he layed down again and pulled the blanket over his head, hoping to get some more sleep. He had the feeling he would need it if he had to start training Ginny.

Present moment

”Damn it boy, what took you so long?!” Roshi started off, without bothering to greet him, as soon as Soul entered the little house, “Did you come walking here? I swear my grandmother is faster than you!”

Ginny could help but to grin at Roshi’s outburst; he was such a funny old man.

Hey Soul! That’s an odd name! Where are you from? the young girl waved back at him from behind the old Turtle Hermit, ”I’m Ginny! I just arrived here yesterday to come and train with Master Roshi! Are you a student too?”

“Yeah, yeah, you can save the chit chat for later,” he continued basically before Soul could reply, “I got a job for you boy and you better not mess this up! A good, old friend of mine is in trouble. She lives out in the Eastern desert but as I understood there was a problem with her last supplies shipment. And ya ain’t gonne live long in the desert without those supplies, kid, so I want you to bring her some new packages of food and water! I would go myself of course, but I … eh … got some eh…. very urgent business to take care off….”

“Oh that sounds cool, I will go with you!” Ginny quickly offered with a big smile.

“Like hell you will! You are not going anywhere, it’s way to dangerous for you! Roshi yelled out at Ginny, before turning back to Soul ”What are you still doing here? Getting going already!

“Hey that’s not fair! Why can he go and I not? It’s because I’m a girl right? It’s ALWAYS because I’m a girl…. the blue haired alien muttered.

“Because your parents and brothers will kill me if something happens to you! That’s why!”

“I travelled half way the galaxy here ALONE and now you are telling me I can’t go to some desert? Ginny continued stubborn, determined not to give up just yet, “You can’t say what I can or can’t do! You are not my grandfather!”

She calmed down again and her voice as well the expression on her face returned back to it’s normal, happy self, ”Besides, Soul will be there to protect me, right?!” she added while looking at the blond boy.

”Oh he damn well better makes sure you return in one piece or I…” stared off, before the young girl interrupted him.

”Let’s go! This lady needs our help! Ginny said to Soul, while passing him by on her way outside, without paying any further attention to the Old Turtle Hermit whatsoever.
