His eyes slowly opened as he sat up in his uncomfortable cot. The last month had been very tiring on his mental state of mind as his resilience was truly tested. His relationship between Ozi and himself only seemed to become more strained the stronger that he got. He was not sure if this was because he was learning to harness and control the ability or if it was something more internal. "About time you woke up..." Ozi spoke out angrily. He felt that Gray had been sleeping much longer than the normal six hours that he had. Gray couldn't help but roll his eyes, it was almost like living with a woman for several years. He constantly had something to nag about every moment of the day. He shooked his head in response to the old demon as he thought how much better things would be if he just did not have to deal with him. He swung his hips to the side of the cot and placed his bare feet upon the cold hard ground. His head observing the room around him as others slept. He had decided to enlist in a local militia to help out in any way he could. A recent disaster called for volunteers and he felt that it was the right thing to do. Unfortunately the demon within him was only further repulsed by the act's of kindness toward the human race. Today however was not about to be a normal day, for the events that were about to happen would change the relationship between the two forever. 265 Words 265 Twords |

The door to the room flung open as a senior enlisted member marched in, stopping several feet as he scanned the room. "Private Gray, front and center!" he commanded with a stern and confident voice. He rose to his feet quickly and charged forward, stopping just a couple of feet away as he snapped to the position of attention before kicking his left leg out and placing his arms behind him. "Yes Sergeant!" he answered as he waited for the the next command or information that needed to be disseminated. "Your being requested at the TOC for out processing, Not sure where you're going but they are sending you out of here for additional training. It was a pleasure." he turned away from Gray and marched out of the door, leaving more questions that answers. "Additional training? Who the fuck do these punks think they are!" Ozi shouted in anger as Gray stepped back to grab his equipment to start packing in his duffle bag. "It doesn't matter, its an order so we go." Gray answered robotically as he threw the bag over his shoulder and he walked out of the tent. Some point in time during the last several weeks something had happened in Gray's mind. Ozi could see it but the youngman was completely unaware. He was not sure how to snap Gray out of the situation to bring him around to his senses. Gray approached the troop vehicle that was waiting for him, he stepped into the toc to sign the official transfer paperwork and noticed someone in the corner of his eyes in civilians. The logo on his T-shirt he had seen before. His senses suddenly began to go out of control as he felt a burning rush throughout his entire body and a visual stimulation of red and light hues for a few seconds before returning to normal. "What the hell was that..." he thought to himself, noticing that he could not feel Ozi's consciousness within him at the moment. "Ozi..." he thought to himself to try and get an answer. "What...what is going on?" he asked after several awkward moments of silence. He turned toward the civilian, his eyes still focused on the logo. "What logo is this..." he asked once again. "Private Gray, please come on this way so that we can transfer you to the new facility." another voice called from behind him. He turned around and noticed that there was another civilian wearing a jacket with the same logo. His friendly smile and kind eyes greeted his eyes as he looked in his direction. "Why...why can I not shake this..." he thought to himself as he continued to feel uneasy as he walked toward the employee who escorted him outside and into a jeep waiting for his departure. The feeling of angst and confusion continued to overcome his primary senses as he felt his body move on its own toward the Jeep, he was still unsure of why he was so willing to go along with this person. Most of all, a burning question continued to float in his mind, unanswered but remaining out of focus of what he was really asking... "When...when did I join the military?" his consciousness fought to ask but something was continuing to block that question. 550 Words 815 Twords |

The bright light blinded him as the wide doors opened before him, the compounds lighting situation seemed to be unrealistically bright for the situation. He look over to his side at the civilian who walked beside him and couldn't help but notice the sunglasses that he wore to protect his vision. He couldn't put his finger on it but something was not adding up at all about this entire situation. "Welcome young Gray!" a voice echoed loudly as he looked on blindly. He didnt recognize the voice and couldn't see his origins, he could only feel his body being guided by the civilian next to him. "How did I get here?" he thought to himself. The last thing that he remembered was getting into the back of the jeep but none of the drive to this destination. There were so many questions that only continued to pile up with each passing moment. "Its been a while! I am excited to see how the project is turning out!" the voice went on. "Have...have we met?" Gray asked while he felt his body guided to a spot and then sat back gently into a hard chair. "Hmm, mark on the notes that subject Five-Seven-Tree doesn't remember initial meeting." he must have turned his head over his shoulder because the voice sounded as if it was in the distance, looking away from him and echoing off of walls. "What is the last thing that you remember Gray?" the man asked again as he now stood several feet away from Gray. "I...." he thought for a moment. Why could he not remember the day prior to waking up this morning? Or when he enlisted or why. "I...I don't..." the flashes of light and heat continued to take over his senses as he tried to focus on the recent history that brought him to this position. "I don't remember..." he finished, he could feel his hands gripping tightly in frustration, but mentally he couldn't share the same emotion. "I see..." the voice spoke out as his footsteps echoed as he walked away. He could hear him pick something up that seemed to scrape against another surface. A metal clipboard? He was having trouble trying to focus, but his body movements spoke aloud for him. Everyone watching could tell that he was incredibly confused at the moment. "Look...I..I just want to know where I am...and how I got here!" he shouted in question as energy exploded out of his body. "What is this rush?" he thought to himself as he suddenly felt stronger, his body exploded with excitement and energy. What was this feeling at this moment? He pulled up on his arm and ripped free from the restraints, his hand reaching up and pulling off a blindfold that left him staring into a bright blinding light. "What the..." he finished as he body exploded into energy once more, the impulse pushing outwards and shattering the lights around him. "Calm down Mr. Gray!" the voice of an elderly man echoed across the room, but something about it seemed friendly and almost familiar. The blinding light started to pass and his senses were beginning to become more clear and he could finally see those standing around him. Men in lab coats that surrounded him, some slightly frightened by his explosion of energy. His eyes meeting with the source of the familiar voice, an older man in glasses that didn't stand very tall. "Mr....Mr. Briefs?" he said studdering as he struggled to assemble the name from his memory. He rose his right hand up, looking into a massive palm that felt unfamiliar. "I have...I haven't looked at myself at all since waking..." he whispered as he looked back to Dr. Briefs who smiled slightly. "Maybe you should?" Mr. Briefs spoke out as he slammed his cane on the ground twice and signaled for staff to lower down a large Mirror. "Gray, you came to me for help...to assist you with this internal conflict that you had with a demon. Unfortunately it was not easy. " he started but paused to let Gray observe his appearance in the mirror. "Who...who is this?!" he asked confusingly as the reflection before him was unrecognizable to himself. "What...What did you do?!" Gray shouted angrily, his orange aura exploding from his body in frustration. "Calm yourself!" Briefs shouted as he raised both hands to show no ill intent. "When you came to me, I tried to seperate your energy from the demon's, unfortunately it did not work. Instead of separating those energy signature's they seemed to intertwine and become a stronger being..." he paused for a moment and raised his hand pointing towards Gray. "The result is what you see before you." he finished to let Gray try and absorb the idea. Slowly the memories were coming back to him. "Wh...Whis? Uriel?..." he whispered as memories slowly began to come back to him. "You ran off and we have been trying to track you down for almost two months now. For some reason you used no energy, but seeked a purpose, I guess the military gave you that purpose." Briefs paused as he let Gray absorb more information as to not overload him to much at once. Gray looked upwards once more and looked at himself in the mirror, his orange hair had changed to a blondish tone. His figure became slightly more muscular but still as tall. His eyes screamed hidden energy, he gripped his fist tightly once more and looked to Mr. Briefs with a smile on his face. "I can adjust for his, I think I can adapt to this very well." he finished and looked back to the mirror. "Thanks doc..." "I hope this can help you come to terms with the demon, he may or may not have a constant presence, but his absorption into your form means your body may be more...flexible?" Briefs continued, still unsure of what all the side effects of this situation really were. He could only hope for the best out of Gray's change. 1010 Words 1825 Twords |
