Technique Name: Roge haji ken -- Gripping Wolf Fist (14 SP cost)
Attack Power: 1
Ki Drain: 2%
Action Cost: 1
Effect(s):
Hybrid technique. 3 uses per battle. Damages the target and binds the fighters together, initiating a grapple. Must be the last action of the user's turn, and the target must still use two defensive actions to avoid the grapple.
Description:
Evoking the image of a wolf's opened-mouth lunge, the user delivers an open-hand attack, similar to a strike with Tiger Style kung-fu, where upon the user clamps hard on the part of the opponent's body where struck. If the technique is not dodged or blocked, the two fighters are bound together, making many techniques and strategies difficult to use to their fullest, until the user releases or loses the grapple.

Customs cannot be enhanced by normal mechanics. Also no auto crits, still have to roll for it and it will have a duration as well.

Additionally, fundamentals with a crit chance such as Crush have to have limited uses (ex. 3 per battle, etc)

Reworking this. I'm obviously removing the critical effect. When you say "cannot be enhanced by normal mechanics," are we talking about fisticuffs and wolf fang fists?

Yeah, stuff like that. For instance, I tried to make my custom "Namekian Only" because I have an item that enhances Namekian Only techniques. That wasn't allowed.

Ok, reworked. Removed the crit effect, made it a grapple initiator and interesting pace setter. Still put on effect cost, since its a unique mechanic.

This wouldnt cost 2 actions, just the one. That being said, if its meant to do damage and initiate a grapple, it needs the stipulation that it can only be used as the last action in your post.

Go ahead and label this a hybrid. Hybrid techs are better, and this clearly fits the bill. Also, Ki Cost should be 2%. Also, this should have a limit, as normally initiating a grapple deals no damage and initiating a grapple is a potentially powerful mechanic. But, definitely creative technique and I dig it. Maybe 3x per battle?

Just to confirm because it isn't in the tech, do it require just a defense to avoid the grapple or 2 actions still?

When I had it at a cost of 2 actions, then definitely it would take two defensive actions to dodge it. I would still like to have that mechanic built in, and I think the rising ki cost and limitation on uses per battle would justify that.

How does that sound to everyone?
