Justice's Hammer

The Turtle Hermit and the young angel talked at length, walking slowly around shores of the small island that was the Kame House. The crept up and receded at a steady but calm pace. Finally the winged man asked the question that he had been dying to know answer for months. "Master Roshi, two of your students were involved with the androids that fought and killed me. A Saiyan named Sunchoke and a young man called Zyren. What happened to them," Uriel inquired, a dash of hope in his voice. The old sensei stopped walking and his pupil followed suit. "I haven't been able to sense Sunchoke in a very long time but King Yemma said he has not passed through. As for Zyren, well I guess you've just been using gem as decoration." The bald, bearded man laughed. "Why don't you try using it?" The celestial dug into his pockets, feeling a bit embarrassed at the fact that he had put it away almost immediately after he bought. The old geezers' persistent laughing wasn't helping but once the he saw the angel had it in his hand he turned solemn. "Now, Uriel, focus on your former ally. Release all other thoughts and concentrate solely on his energy." The winged man closed his eyes. There were so many people on earth, mostly weaker, some far greater and other close to his own. His eyes opened rapidly. Was that him? It had to be. Even though it had been a long time, he would always remember the first great fighter he met. "Thank you Master, I'll be back to say goodbye before I leave for Namek," Uriel said, a rare grin on his has face. He rocketed off into the afternoon sun, a golden blur in the clear blue sky. The strange young man, thankfully, wasn't far from the Kame House, as the angel was eager to test his skills, especially for the blonde haired kid. Zyren was staring off in the distance with his back turned to him. Uriel landed gracefully a few yards behind. "Glad to see you made it out of there alive. I've been training to defeat those two murderers and I figured you might want to help me train a bit." He was curious at the other's reaction speed and if they'd grown. He'd see soon enough. He held his hammer above his and smashed it into the ground, causing a fissure at his feet, sending several boulders of hard ground into the air. Uriel, swung is ebony hammer around like a club, knocking the biggest towards the young man opponent at breakneck speed. 438 WC |

The blond hybrid was so absorbed into his thoughts that he didn't notice someone approach, the greeting and request, nor the subtle shake of the ground as several chunks of Earth were freed from their confines only to be sent after his back and head. With several thunks, they collided along his back and head and fell apart, and along with the startling reality check came both pain, anger, and confusion. With a growl Soul spun around, the air breaking with both the speed and strength of his movement quickly shadowed by the eruption of his aura; his energy vaporizing the rock that was in the process of falling to the ground below. His arm extended, hand splayed, and within the split second came a thrum when his energy was built, concentrated, and subsequently fired in its full unbridled wrath before he realized who the attacker was. Soul didn't bother to lower his hand or recall the Ki that was racing toward Uriel and instead asked; "What's with the sneak attack, bird-man? Are you looking to die?!" Granted, the attack didn't really hurt, for the toughness of his body was leagues greater than the Earth...or at least small parts of it. WC: 204 |

The angel had to hide much of his mirth at his target. He remembered how hot blooded the kid was. A split beer was nothing compared a handful of rocks to his back. Still, he couldn't help but tease the other warrior. "You used to be faster. I know I've improved, but not by that much," the celestial said playfully. He didn't know a lot about the boy but he was sure Roshi wouldn't take on a psychopath on as a student. "I'm just looking to test my new power against someone close my own skill set. Besides, I did say hi, first." Uriel lifted himself up a few feet off the ground and belched a scalding for ring of fire surrounding the two fighters. The flames towered around the makeshift arena though not high enough air combat to be prohibited. The winged man slowly descended to the partially torn up ground. The excitement of battle returned, with a mixture fear beneath. Even if Zyren wasn't a killer, he might underestimate his own strength accidentally kill the celestial. He looked his powerful opponent right in the eyes. "If you've regained your bearing, let's get this thing going. I have some fun new techniques I'd like to show you. Those little stones to your head are nothing." WC 216/654 |

Soul simply watched the bird-man's actions and listened to his words without changing his demeanor; instead choosing to scoff lightly at the fact that Uriel thought that Soul was slower. If anything since their last meeting, the Hybrid had risen in power just like the other had. "Uri, I think you know the difference between catching someone unawares instead of catching them while they are aware. As for you...I'm...surprised?" Soul's scoff had turned into a hint of surprise when he took the time to evaluate Uri's power, and upon doing so, couldn't hide his shock at how fast that the man across from him had gotten this strong. It didn't make sense, or seem possible really. After all, they had met just a few weeks ago, and he wasn't this strong. Now...the man was a third of his power, or in the ballpark anyway. What happened? Was this still Uri? He mentioned new techniques, but how does one learn something confidently enough in such a short time period? Maybe a technique, yes, but it would still be in the beginning stages. But multiple? The Blonde's eyes narrowed in thought, and instead of saying anything more, his other arm rose before both upraised limbs glowed with Ki. However, instead of an attack, two ear-shattering eruptions of sound were emitted simultaneously with a flash of light ; each sounding like a hammer striking an anvil with the abruptness of thunder. When the light faded an instant later, two daggers had appeared in the half-Saiyan's hands; each glowing a bright, cherry red before fading to a dull silver color---save for the myriad of runic inscriptions sprawled across their surfaces. "Start it, Bird-man." WC: 282/486 |

The holy angel glowed with the respect the other had shown. Their first encounter had made the winged man appear cowardly and perhaps the perception was correct. He was still glad he fled from the cantina that day. If he had been killed that moment, he would have passed straight through King Yemma's check in. Just another of billions of ordinary souls every day. The celestial didn't believe in predestination but at the same time, the Kai's had spared him. "I'm as shocked as you are, Zyren. I died on the snowy, blood stained battlefield that day. Saw the afterlife and trained had but there is another secret to my training. Defeat me and I'll tell you." Uriel unsheathed his long sword with his left hand, the right still firmly grasping his onyx, spiked hammer. He had practiced with blade a fair amount but had yet to use it in battle. The other fighter seemed to be content to let the celestial have the first attack. Smart, considering he still didn't know how much the angel had improved. With an almost imperceptible blur, he vanish. Appearing right behind his opponent and slashed diagonally, from hip to thigh. "'I hope he was serious about his first statement. Gotta make sure I don't hit anything vital, just in case." WC 217/871 |

Soul had been serious when he was looking at the angel-man and even let him begin the fight to see just how far the Hybrid had come, but the Blonde's next action seemed to contridict everything he had done up to this point. With a grimace, the half-Saiyan pulled a set of earbuds out and just started to put them in his ears when Uri attacked; his form blurring into an arc to appear behind Soul and likely attack. However, just when the weapon was about to strike his back, it instead struck a duo of daggers that had appeared seemingly out of midair. Soul, however, hadn't moved to defend and was too busy blocking his hearing, but if Uri was vigilant enough, he would see that a third dagger hovered a foot above the two the blocked the sword. They glowed, symbolizing that they were made out of Ki, and each of them was a mirror image of the daggers that Soul was holding. With a grin, he turned to face Uri and spoke; "You'll have to pardon me, but I'm doing my own training at the same time that we'll be fighting. Now...my turn!" Soul wasn't lying either, for his plan was to block his hearing completely and instead rely on his four other senses--along with his still-developing Sense. Would the Hybrid be injured? Probably. Even so, it was still a chance to force his Sense to improve at a fast rate, and maybe teach himself to fight without relying on hearing as well. With a wave and a glow of his left dagger, the trio of floating daggers spun in place and then launched themselves at Uriel like arrows from a bow. At the same time, Soul focused on taking a deep breath and channeling his Ki into his lungs to where he then let loose a roaring inferno in quick succession to his previous attack. WC: 324/810 |

He was as faster than he remembered, quite a bit more. Uriel was glad that he didn't slice than kid in half but was also disappointed to see his attack fail. Sure, his opponent was quick but it was foolish try and use a weapon he was not even close to have mastered. The angel didn't much to reflect as the blonde haired boy was preparing his counter attack. The other fighter had deftly pulled out two hardened daggers protected himself from the winged man's attack. Uriel released his sword leaped away from the powerful fighter. The man across from him had three more small blades, seemingly made of ki, orbiting the blonde haired kid, seeming to be held by the power of his mind. With the precision of expert archer, they flew at the at the winged man, with incredible speed. The angel's fighting extinct had turned up a notch as soon as his adversary deflected his attack with such apparent ease. He didn't even have to think of an action, his eyes turned amber and twin powerful energy blasted from his eyes, trying to seek out kid's. The distance between the two was so close and the attack so rapid, he managed to catch two midair but the last struck home, exploding right stomach of the celestial. Uriel felt heat of the fire and cringed away at the extreme heat. He to drop to ground and roll away from the blazing pyre. "Alright, now he's getting into it," the angel smirked as skillfully flipped himself up from the ground. Gathering his ki, spread his massive wings and took to sky, a couple of yards above the the other fighter and charged full speed, golden aura surrounding him. About halfway to his intended target, Uriel opened his mouth wide and blasted all the ki he had been storing at the him. WC 311/1182 |

The Blonde watched Uri deal with his several attacks in a variety of ways, eyes tracking the way that the man moved, counter-attacked, and defended in fluid movements. The way he moved was different too, no longer did the angel move like a novice, nor did he think like one... How? A few weeks ago, he wasn't like this, now its like I'm facing him several years down the road or something akin to it. It's almost impossible to learn several techniques and develop a fighting style this fast, or get used to what a trained body can do...hrm. All of this was flashing through his mind at the speed of thought while Uri dealt with the blows, and when the man was finished--no worse for wear if either fighter was honest, for a few bruises, scuffs, cuts and burns are nothing to fighters; he launched his own offensive. The man took to the air with a mighty flap of his wings, but just like the fire, the explosions, or the turbulent winds...Soul heard nothing thanks to the ear buds combined with a layering of ki over his eardrums. However, a small sense of crisis did appear when the angel opened his mouth and loosed a beam, the hostile energy housing a potential to be dangerous unlike before--before Uri seemed to have transformed. Soul grinned however, for he had a way to deal with this, and that way was activated with a quick flicker of wrist movement. Following it came the beam and the consecutive explosion, but most of the energy was dispersed when a bubble of protective Ki appeared around the Hybrid. "Not bad, not bad, but how will you deal with my own?" With what could be interpreted as a dismissive wave of his left arm, Soul concentrated and released the built up Ki; the Ki taking the shape of a nearly-invisible distortion through the air. Shadowing the distortion came a myriad of pitch black voids no bigger than gumballs by the dozens--then hundreds; each launching a ball of bright, neon-silver Ki aimed at the Angel. WC: 351/1,161 |

The angel pulled up sharply towards the afternoon sky, the sun shining brightly on the once peaceful meadow. He aileron rolled with precision to face the battlefield. The winged man hoped he hand't seriously harmed the other fighter. A powerful beam, few feet away away from his face would be hard to defend, but Uriel knew that kid was holding back. He wanted to know how much. It wasn't insulting, like the when that damned android looked at like he was a bug. No, Zyren was probably was wondering the same thing. There were moments of what appeared to bewilderment on the his face. Not distressed, but curiosity The celestial finished his loop and faced his opponent. The smoke dissipated there he saw the blonde haired boy, completely unfazed and with a shimmered bubble enveloping him. Uriel had never seen such a technique and very interested in it. His attention quickly shift from the force field the his adversary inside. Hundreds, if nor more, tiny spheres were gathering in the palm of Zyren's hand. ""Well, I guess that means he's ready to take it up a notch" the angel stated quietly, eyes wide open as he saw the sphere keep growing. It seemed as though that boy also wanted test the winged ma a bit more. The was no chance no change of evasion. Uriel had to meet it head on. "What the hell," the celestial said. Kami warned me that if he overdid it with the new technique, it could send back the Next Dimension. Uriel put his hands in the form of a triangle and began to power it up. He saw the other fighter launch a flurry silver energy balls at the airborne angel. No more time to charge, it would have to do. "Tri Beam!" Uriel shouted at the top of his lungs. He hope that it would take out most, if not all of them. He also hoped his body could handle strain. WC 328/1,510 |

Soul's eyes narrowed at the angel's reaction to meet force with force instead of attempting to dodge or block, not quite sure what Uri was thinking. If whatever the man was planning to do failed, then both energies would turn and quite literally blow up in his face. Of course, the other two outcomes were fine, both either cancelling out the other or redirecting the energies into striking the Blonde. The Hybrid's eyes then glittered with surprise when the Angel's hands formed a linked triangle, and his unanswered thought was quickly answered when a rectangle-shaped Ki beam was loosed from the triangle. The beam hit the several hundreds of Ki-pellets almost instantly since they were so close to the other to begin with, and in doing so...wiped out almost all of the ones that would have hit him. Soul frowned, his mind spitting out the conjuncture that it was the tri-beam based on the power and the shape of the technique that Uri used. Soul had seen it only a couple of times back in his Universe, and it fit more into his thesis that this Uri was different from the one several weeks ago. What happened? Without further ado, the half-Saiyan then raised his right arm straight up clenched his hand closed with a twisting motion; brow furrowed in concentration while he focused on the flames surrounding them both--and the Ki in the air. The fire shuddered, visibly growing "weaker" as they seemed to die down from their towering heights, and with a growl, Soul brought his arm down and banged his chest with the clenched fist. Instantly, the flames shuddered for the second time and then surged toward the Hybrid like water, quickly wreathing his body in flames and covering it from Uri's view. The roaring flames were gone just as quick as they had come, revealing the Blonde in the middle of the previous ring of fire, once silver-white aura dyed a silvery-orange. Flame Shield! "Now Uri...what will you do when I turn your own flames against you?! With that question ringing out, Soul blurred and appeared in front of Uri, both dagger and shortsword extended--albeit covered in Ki to prevent fatal harm to either participant--and swung several tens of times at the Angel. With each swing came a surge of fiery-ki intent on licking out and biting Uri along with the steel, so what would the man do? WC: 404 TWC: 1,565 |

He felt they pellets strike against his lean frame but the angel wouldn't be satisfied until Zyren's strike was finished. Finally he stopped, his golden ki flickering then fading away. Uriel knew he had to save some energy to continue this match. Kami was right though, it did take quite a toll on his body. He fell quickly to the ground, preparing for the other fighter's counter. The young boy was somehow absorbing the his flame arena into a protective sphere. How many defensive tactics like that did he have up his sleeve? Now was not time ponder and found himself losing sight of his target. The winged man was scanning high and low when he noticed Zyren right in front of him. Without hesitation, the blonde hair boy started jabbing and thrusting at the angel. He had to get out of there. Concentrating as hard as he could he teleported across the field, a slight wheeze in his breath. There was now he face him hand to hand combat with that damned fire barrier protecting.. Uriel screamed at the top of his lungs and watch as the blaze dissipated. "I know he's got speed on me, but I can't expend much more ki," the angel said, soaked in sweat. He wiped his brow and thought up a new attack. Gripping his hammer tightly with his right right hand, he arched it back behind his head and began the soar straight at his powerful opponent. He fired and energy blast with off off hand and right before he reached Zyren he swung his spiked, black hammer in a wide horizontal arc, aiming towards the knees of the other fighter. Soul's attacks met nothing but air as the angel quickly retreated, narrowly dodging a slice of cold steel and the fyre that followed after it; his action causing the Blonde to stop his assault and prepare to charge again. However, Uri's next course of action blew the half-Saiyan away--both figuratively and almost literally. A ki-enforced shout knocked him back mid-charge, but the Kiai wasn't aimed at Soul--at least not completely. No, the target was the Fyre-Cloak, a legitimate cause of concern for just about anyone that was facing the opposing side of it. Combined with a lightning-fast assault... Soul fought to keep the aura from dissipating, concentrated his whole heart on it even, and could only feel a minimal effect for his efforts. His aura struggled, twisted and contorted under the fierce gale--and was worn away into oblivion. He recovered with a nimble backflip and "grabbed" the air with his Ki, slowing his momentum to a standstill before using it as a springboard to launch himself at Uri with a shout; "You continue to amaze me Uri! Tell me, what has happened to you in the last few weeks?!" Following this came a beam of energy loosed from the Blonde's left hand, "weak" in comparison to the rest of his arsenal, but by far the fastest. WC: 221/1786 |

The winged man grunted slightly as the the energy blast struck his chest. Uriel gave a huge grin to the to the kid. His golden aura subsided as he lowered his ki. The fight was exhilarating, and the angel became more and powerful with each battle. He knew, as Kami stated, that he would never abuse his strength and only and protect the weak with it. Still, he knew that even though the gap between himself and Zyren had shrunk, the blonde haired warrior was still out of his league. "You've grown quite a bit a since our battle with the androids. I know that I can't compete with at this point," Uriel said, touching his hand gingerly and at the other's ki blast. "You've noticed I have too. Well, to finally answer your question, some of my newfound abilities was brought about from hard work and training from Master Kami." The angel's voice changed to a more reverent tone. "But the real secret is a place in the Lookout called The Hyperbolic Room of Time and Spirit. I was able to fit a year's worth of training in one day. It sounded insane to me but at first you've but you've seen the fruits of of my labor firsthand." Uriel brushed his gi, trying to clean it from all the dirt and charred battle scars. He a little guilty think of Popo giving his fresh clothes. "I concede, Zyren, you are clearly still the better fighter. Go seek out Kami. If he feels your heart is pure enough, I'm sure he will you the same opportunity". 267 WC/2,056 TWC |
