Wriggle decided that it was time to bring calm into her mind in the isolation of her room. She sat on her bed with the sheets nicely done, except the creases she put in them with her body weight. With a deep breath she entered the Song World, seeing this was the only place she could use her voice. It was a small cheat within the Kelioux magic that prevented her from singing. Here she could utilize song effects on her own mind. The only way she could enter? Through an Astral Gem.

She would use that to enter her World and then use her world as a beacon to bring minds within it. Why? Well, many reasons. Sometimes she tortured someone, or she asked for information. Wriggle had many selfish desires, but there was one thing she always looked for, a place to override the Keliouxian magic. When she could do that, then she could be free.

The Song World was a black space with symbols floating about in a language only her people knew. So when someone stumbled upon it they were find nothing but this darkness, symbols and Wriggle in the middle standing there with no clothes on.

The astral realm was a dangerous place for Shin. Mostly it linked people only from this one dimension, but if she wasn’t careful, she would miss the cues to realize it was the astral realm of h4ch1-w45h3r3, and not some other realm she was connected to. She had to keep her stories straight, and she was still quite the novice at it, especially compared to some others. She was having quite a bit of fun playing in different realms, taking different parts, but it was a very careful balance and a type of training all on it’s own.

Today, she missed any cue to which realm it was before she was pulled into a different place altogether, one she did not recognize, and so one she did not know what face to wear. This was very tricky indeed. Everything was black except for the symbols softly glowing. She should have made herself want to know what they meant, want to know where she was but...That took so much fun out of it. She was never good at making herself want anything to begin with. Instead her focus fell on the naked girl at the center of it all.

Was Shin naked? She looked down and sure enough her clothes had vanished somewhere along the way. It was possible she could have kept them, mind over matter and all that, but it was another thing she didn’t actually care all that much about.

From there her gaze wandered from symbol to symbol before it felt back on her host. ”Where are we?” she asks, her brow scrunching in confusion and curiosity. Perhaps she did want to know, but more so, she wanted to be told.

Wriggle’s eyes focused on the wanderer and she thought on what she would like to do today. Did she wanted to torture? No, she had already had her fill with that one Namekian. Well, what the hell? Answer the question first. “Mismian Song World. Even when the world is gone, this realm remains for all of the princesses that survived. I have yet to see another princess come here other than myself.”

Was that all? Maybe she had some more things to ask. Wriggle was there waiting and she would continue to answer questions that were asked. A smile etched onto her face for now. What she had planned later… was still a mystery.

Mismian...Nope, it wasn’t a name she recognized, but then, either was Avalon or Mortoseth. She really needed to learn more about the realms she visited but other things tended to take priority. Like now for example. She was less concerned about where Mismia was versus the idea that people had needed to survive, that the one before her was a princess, or the idea of a song. Priorities.

”Are you sure any others did survive?” she asks, a tad too blunt, though her head tilted in a warm curiosity. She didn’t seem to realize the sadness that could come with that. To Shin, as long as she survived that was all that mattered. Wriggle was here though and perhaps for a reason. Maybe she sought them. Maybe she really hoped Shin would be another princess.

”Sorry I’m not really royalty, Princess...Well, I am in this one place, it’s actually kind of a funny story,” she says before glancing off as she remembered she potentially shouldn’t be saying such things depending on where she was. ”I’m Shin,” she says in turn looking back to her with another easy smile.

Wriggle was sure that some survived, but when it came to royalty she was almost certain that she was the very last one. Now, could a normal Mismian gain enough power to transport their mind here? Yes, that was probable but not something Wriggle looked for. “I am certain that a few have survived the fall. Did they die to their injuries though? I would not know.”

The bug continued to stare. Her emotions were not too hard to read, but the lack of them made it hard to read too deep. She was content, which was the feeling that she gave off. “Hello Shin, I am Wriggle Nightbug. I am a silenced songstress. Pity that I could not sing to you. It would have moved your very soul. Would you care to know what most of these symbols are saying that float about us?”

Shin’s head tilted a little, as she tried to wrap her head around Wriggle’s nonchalance. She could not get a good read of her at all, at least not the way she wanted to. Was she sad that she lost her people or did she not care? Was she here lingering because she wanted to meet someone she knew or was it simply a place that felt like home, good or bad? She was content, at peace even, but that seemed momentary and somewhat fleeting, like everything could change in the next moment.

Wriggle offered an introduction, and even that was somewhat dreary despite the energy she displayed, making the snake frown a bit. Her attention was placed on the symbols around them, and she glanced about with renewed interest.

”What are they saying?” she asks agreeably, looking back to her. ”Normally I can read anything if I give it enough thought, but you seem to have me a bit rattled.” Despite her words, she was smiling again, seeming quite the opposite of rattled. Like Wriggle, she seemed content, if not happy to be where she was, even if she was a bit confused.

Wriggle knew the risks, but she forever took them. In the Song world, she could sing so vividly. But even when she did, the pain would slowly reach her physical body. But here, the songs were stronger and naught a Keliouxian mind dumb enough to enter. This is why Wriggle preyed on the curious. This is why Wriggle meditated and hoped someone would fall in her trap on chance….or maybe fate. She could not for the life of her sing in the language of the Mismerians.

It was not because that she forgot it. That was one of the limiters place on her mind. She just could not access it. This symbols, the reason they were so unfamiliar was because they were customly made by herself and all she could sing is Earth tunes. But the way she twisted them was beautiful. Her wings expanded from her back and the pain began. It was unforgiving, but she had 4 minutes before she tapped out.

Her eyes bled a red and it was confusing as to what made them so crimson. Was it concentration? Power? Fear? It wasn’t known, but her wings started twitching and instruments began to play and a wave of pinches and pulls against Shin’s skin could be felt. Immediately, Shin could tell that this was nowhere near the extent of her power at all. Those pinches were meant to be flaying of the skin. The pulls were supposed to be snatches of souls and it all began with….

Maybe Again…

In the softest voice possible, and those words tried to hurt Shin so bad, but they couldn’t. It was almost sad. Why could Wriggle only sing to hurt? Even so, no matter how depressed she felt, there was a grin of malice on her face. She was singing the symbols that floated around, all custom made by her.

Her voice went soft, pulling into a delicate melody that pulled high pitched from her throat. It wasn’t exceptionally beautiful, or something you would expect from a strong ballad. It was coarse and husky as her wings brushed against each other creating an almost music box sound. Why were those boxes always filled with such delicate sounds? It was almost an expression of their frailty. They always broke so easily.

That’s what Shin thought about while the song cut softly against her skin like a sharpened blade. It could barely be felt in places, the sting only welling up with blood after the cut was cleanly made. Other times it was ragged, the blade gone dull and welting more than cutting. Each prick and pain danced with the music but it was as if the song was playing on a car radio with a broken antenna. It was positioned perfectly so that there was no static, Wriggle was holding it tightly in place, but it still did not come in at full volume, and it buzzed with interference just enough that if you turned up the knob it would only take further away from it.

It was still enough that Shin pulled her arms around herself as if pulled into a chilly wind. She didn’t try to pull away from it though. Her eyes closed as she focused more heavily on the sound, and when they opened again her pupils were like slits. A single tear welled from one, not from the aches and pains but a distinct sadness as she understood Wriggle’s contentment and so much more. This was the one place she could be content. This was the one place she could still sing and where everything else could be forgotten.

It ended in what felt like such a long time but also much too short. Shin’s eyes returned to normal and she looked at the nightbug with her soul shook, but there was something to this woman that said her soul was easily shook. She made sure it never had stable ground to stand on so she could experience everything in its rawest of forms. It was very likely that even at Wriggle’s full power she would have stood here the same, even if her body was in complete agony, ready to utter a single word.

”Bravo.”
