The stars were mostly concealed behind the clouds, making for a fairly dark night. The saiyan found himself atop the mountain with his colleague who'd been teaching him how to perform basic magic. His interest had been amplified by his encounters with Lilim whom he suspected was capible of compulsion spells. Ticho wondered if it might be possible to execute such abilities without the feminine charms possessed by the demon queen.

He could rather well feel the diminsional curtain that separates this plane of existence from the dreamworld. The younger scholar snapped his fingers and finally succeeded in bringing forth a gold coin. "Finally got it," the saiyan remarked while examining the coin to ensure it to be genuine. Looking up at the demon, he handed the coin over for cross checking. There had already been one or two instances in which Ticho had indeed created a coin that appeared gold, but turned out to be pyrite.

Allowing Dabura a moment to examine the coin, he grabbed a sip of his coffee that he'd brought along. "So, what's the next step?" the saiyan inquired, wondering how one could jump from creating small coins all the way to weapons.

Snap, tear, cling. Ticho's coin resonated not quite like it had earlier - its molecular makeup must be different yet again. Still, it looked gold enough. The Saiyan handed over the coin, seeming somewhat pleased with himself. It was heavy, Dabura could tell immediately. That was good; gold is a far denser metal than most others, and thus heavier.

As Dabura continued his inspection, Ticho asked about progressing beyond coins. The demon spoke plainly. "You mean for more practical purposes?" He smiled before biting down on the coin, and felt the malleable object give . Dabura checked, and there were tooth marks. The coin was genuine. He flicked it back at Ticho, pleased.

"This one's real," he stated plainly, and crossed his arms behind his head as he leaned back against the mountain. Dabura pondered a while on how to break the hard facts, but ultimately just did.

"It's fairly simple, honestly. I've thought you all there is to it... But I also told you that it doesn't get any simpler than coins. They consist of a single molecule, they are flat, they are round, and they fit in your hand. Envisioning such an object clearly is not a hard task." Dabura shook his head. "However... Let's say you wanted to materialize a weapon."

Dabura sprang up and started pacing. "Let's start with a classic, like the sword." Dabura brought his hands together and drew them back out, revealing his trusty old gladius. The demon no longer needed to resort to brusque maneuver like snapping his fingers or clapping his hands, but could simply move the dimensional veil like he was opening a curtain.

"What are this sword's dimensions? What is the shape, the exact shape of the blade, the hilt, the pommel? What' are they all made out of?"

"Really, the next step is whatever you want it to be, but be aware of your limits. Until you can conjure a coin on every attempt, moving up the chain is largely futile. But... if you were going to experiment, I'd advise you to keep it simple." Dabura scratched his chin, and shrugged. "For example, in terms of weapons I'd advise you to try shanks, spears, simple designs like that. "

The saiyan listened intently as his colleague revealed that there was little else to the learning process left aside from trial and error. Admittedly it made sense as magic was not an exact science (or a science at all for that matter.)

Pocketting the coin Dabura had thrown back, he gave a quick nod of acknowledgement. At the same time, a curious grin crept onto Ticho's face as was common when an idea came to mind.

"So then, the process remains simple as long as the item in question is made of a single material and takes on a simple shape. Let's see if this works," the young scholar stated as he began to concentrate. With a snap of his fingers, a coin made of iron dropped into Ticho's hand. Another snap, a coin of silver appeared. He snapped again, this time the coin was made of platinum.

The scholar continued to snap his fingers as coins of various metals made their way between dimensions. He even managed to make a quartz coin, though it was misshapen and he was actually going for diamond. Ticho's hand was quickly reaching the point where no more coins could be piled on without spilling.

The saiyan snapped again, but nothing came through. Confused he tried again with no further success. A visible portal appeared I'm front of the two scholars and a strange looking creature emerged from it, clearly unhappy.

Ticho stared at the odd looking humanoid for a few moments before it finally spoke. "I'm gonna have to ask you to stop for a bit. You're making too much noise and I'm trying to sleep."

Dabura had feared Ticho might allow himself to get carried away with this newfound power, what little he had of it anyway. Almost frenziedly the young Saiyan was materializing coins, his fingers snapping away with the speed of a machine gun.
Dabura could only shake his head. He crossed his arms and took a step back. He knew Ticho would be able to handle trouble, which is why he was the first mortal Dabura taught the technique to in a long, long time.

Trouble would come.

Soon enough coins stopped appearing, yet Ticho continued on, perhaps thinking it was some sort of fluke. That's when someone finally answered Ticho's rapping on the door. A lesser demon which Dabura recognized it as an illithid, far-away cousins of the great Dagon.

"Your way of materializing, of going into his realm, is still very crude. You're essentially banging stuff outside his window - and he's pissed."

Dabura outstretched his open palm to Ticho, as if to say: "try to handle it".

The creature before the two scholars seemed imposing, but thus far had taken no action that one might consider hostile. Dabura spoke up, stating in a fairly calm manner that the constant use of materialization without sufficient practice tended to cause a disturbance. The creature before them no doubt was here to in regards to said disturbance.

The saiyan gave a polite nod. "My apologies. It hadn't occurred to me that I might be disturbing anyone. I'm still learning how to properly materialize and got carried away. I'll abstain from further use of that spell for the remainder of the evening." Despite his curious nature Ticho had no interest in making a nuisance of himself towards creatures outside of his plane of existence, at least for now.

The extraplanar creature gave a yawn. "That is all that I ask," the illithid stated before stepping back through the portal from which he'd come and shutting it behind him. It seemed the saiyan had been lucky enough to encounter a being that would listen to reason instead of jumping straight into murder-hobo mode.

Ticho looked back at his demon colleague and gave a chuckle. "That went surprisingly well I'd like to think all things considered. Since materialization is off the table, are there any other spells worth learning? I encountered a demon in the astral realm not too long ago whom I'm pretty sure was using compulsion magic. She introduced herself as Lilim, the demon queen."

"Ah, you met Lilim? Truth be told there's no telling the line between magic and just sheer, raw seduction when it comes to that vixen..." Dabura shrugged. "She tends to be whimsical but she's very, very loyal once she takes a liking to someone. And you yet breathe so I can only assume things went well?" He started pacing and frowned.

"I'm not sure if her kind of magic can be learnt - at least I can not teach it. Her and I, we are both demons like cats and dogs are both mammals. Similar to a point, but wholly different. Her magic, if it is even that, is not my magic."

Dabura pondered in silence for a while, and concluded that that was for the best. He had a strong imagination, and seeing himself with Lilim's mannerisms made him feel very uneasy.

Ticho gave a nod as the demon asked if their interaction had gone well. To say that would be quite the understatement in fact, but there was no reason to divulge the details all things considered. Still, the fact that they both knew Lilim led the saiyan to believe that perhaps Dabura's allegiance to the scholars was similar to his own: a means to an end.

Dabura went on to explain that his magic was ultimately different from the demon queen's, assuming that was in fact what Lilim had been doing. "Perhaps a difference in focus?" the saiyan inquired in response. "I've skimmed over a couple of books that supposedly could be used to learn magic. While none of them seemed to be fully genuine, each seemed to mention the use of some sort of focus in order to channel magical energies. Perhaps seduction is simply her focus."

Taking a quick look at his watch, the younger scholar suddenly realized that the time had flown by even faster than he'd suspected. Such was often common when enjoying oneself and learning magic had been quite the treat. "Anyway, thanks again for teaching me. If you need help with any of your coursework or need me to rough someone up for you, feel free to give me a hollar." Ticho let our a chuckle, as he was only half joking. Or perhaps he wasn't. Ticho himself could not tell.

Opening his bag, he dumped the pile of coins he'd pilfered from the dream realm in and closed it up. He would take them home and examine each to see how many were genuine. It would make an excellent indicator in how far the saiyan was from mastering this spell.
