Shin: combat rune

Ticho:

The scholar stared upon the gem one last time before locking it away into storage. Having been eliminated from the tournament, he could no longer use it as an excuse to meet new fighters. Still, it would make a nice keepsake of the fun times he'd had and perhaps he'd meet some of them again. As he locked the gem away with some of his other precious belongings, he reached for his other gem. He could reach out to others via the astral plane, though was reluctant to contact someone just to start swinging. Still, a casual encounter might do some good espcially given that he'd still failed to reach out to Bulla despite numerous attempts. Closing his eyes, the saiyan began to reach out with his mind to see who if anyone might respond.

Shin:

The astral realm filled with flowers. Ticho found himself in a quiet meadow covered in flowers he never seen before. They weren't from Kelioux, Earth, or Kanassa but instead felt familiar to Mortoseth. The daylight was falling and the flowers sparkled and let off a soft glow like the beauty that could be found on the dark side of that planet, but these flora will bigger and in odder shapes, though still quite something to look at.

They were not the only thing. At the edge of the field was a small pound, almost grown over, and its edge sat young woman. Her dark hair was long enough that it fell into the plant life in a perfect spiral. She wore a sundress which brought attention to her long legs and large chest. Her slender feet, one tattooed with a snake wrapped around it dipped into the pound but it was her face that did not cry of beauty. She wasn't ugly, though her nose was a tad too long, her eyes a tad too sharp, but her expression was scrunched up as if she were trying to see something out in the distance. It was not even close to something serene or sad. It was a little dramatic and kind of funny looking.

Ticho:

The scenery was slightly surprising to the young scholar. Granted he'd been to the Astral realm a few times, but usually there was nothing but a vast void unless he willed otherwise. "I guess the setting chosen by one is seen by the other after all," thought Ticho yo himself as he directed his attention to the young woman.

It seemed he had somehow managed to stumble upon her world for lack of a better word. While he had reached out mentally, her attention was directed elsewhere leading the saiyan to believe he wasn't an expected guest.

Making a mental note of all this new information, the scholar approached her at a casual pace. "Excuse me, miss? Am I intruding in any way with my presence here?" Ticho inquired aloud.

Shin:

The little Saiyan Scholar made a lot of assumptions and still had much to learn about the astral realm. The girl did not look up at his interjection, staring down at the water her feet were dipped into and watching the fish.

"And what if you were?" she asks not hiding her boredom and still not lifting her amber gaze to him.

Ticho:

Ticho halted his advance at the girl's response. Her tone did not sound especially bothered, but she had made no effort to look in his direction.

"Well, I suppose I would have to leave forthwith. Is that what you want?" asked the scholar as he looked upon her, noting her apparent lack of enthusiasm in her current activity. "I'm Ticho by the way."

Shin:

"So polite~" the girl jeers but she looked to him then her expression in an extremely warm smile, as if genuinely happy or amused. She playfully scrunched her nose at him before looking back to the water.

"Hullo Ticho. I'm Shin," she offers lifting one of her ankles out of the water before dropping it back in with a small splash. "You should be a little more forward. The Kanassans believe that the astral realm is a place meant to bring people together, people on the same wave length~ You shouldn't assume you're unwanted."

Ticho:

The scholar returned Shin's smile. It was apparent she knew more about this realm than he, despite his increasing number of trips here.

"I'll keep that in mind. I'm still learning the particulars of this place. As a scholar, we're expected to teach ourselves in many respects. Between my job and my other studies, I've had little time to research this plane's inner workings."

Ticho approached and sat beside the woman and looked down at the water. "Still, I'd like to learn more and had heard Kanassa was a good place to start. Perhaps I'll drop by as soon as I've gotten all I can from this place."

Shin:

"No such thing," she replies simply after his explanations. "It's impossible to get everything out of a place. If you think you have that's just your own inability to find more," she offers her confidence unwavering.

She looked back to him, this time her smile a little crooked. "However, if you stay in one place trying to do the impossible and learn everything about it...you'll never leave and despite all you know, your world will be very small."

Ticho:

There was wisdom in the woman's words, though Ticho hadn't discounted the possibility that he might return at some point to Kelioux. Still, perhaps the saiyan had chosen his words less than carefully in this case.

"You speak the truth. Were I to pursue literally everything I could get from the academy, I wouldn't be truly living." The saiyan returned Shin's gaze. "Suffice to say I am simply not yet ready to leave Kelioux just yet."

Shin:

"And when will you be ready?" she asks keeping her mischievous grin. "When the scholars had admitted you to their highest rank? If you can get it without even leaving the planet does it mean much?" She leaned back onto her hands wiggling her toes at the waters surface.

"It sounds boring. I couldn't imagine staying in one place that long. The longer you sit with it the more it infects you. You start talking like the people there. Their views and behaviors become your normal. Drastic change becomes harder and harder and you become more ignorant in your comfort in 'knowing.'"

Ticho:

"I suppose that's true," responded Ticho, his grin taking a mischievous form of it's own. "Moving up in the ranks as quickly as I have would make the titles themselves near meaningless. Truth be told, I never had much of a purpose beyond 'that's how I was raised' when I first entered the academy."

The scholar gave a light chuckle thinking back on how naive he'd been. "There are rumors of powerful tomes that do more than simply teach that are available to those at the top. Tomes that can increase one's capacity to learn. I want to find out if those rumors are true before I leave."

Shin:

Ticho explained his wants and the snake's expression shifted very slightly into interest before sliding into another smile.

"They definitely exist," she says easily watching to see if her factual statement was enough to jump his interest or leave him reserved, only wanting what he himself could see.

"I wonder which of them Adel has. A monkey once told me his collection is beautiful, and the days spent there were like a dream. He also told me the ones the grandmaster were missing were the ones more important," she explains, her tone going absent again. "But can you really trust a monkey?"

Ticho:

The saiyan's ears perked up slightly at the woman's assurances. He knew not how Shin could make such claims with such confidence, but the details with which she followed meant she inevitably possessed insight to back them up of some kind.

"I don't know. I've known a monkey or two in my day," Ticho responded casually. "It really depends on how well you know them. What about you? Do you believe the monkey's words can be trusted?"

Shin:

"Hm," she lets out as if she had asked him a very complicated question. How could she explain her monkey? "I don't trust him," she replies simply but then looked back to him. "But I recognize he's knowledgable. I don't doubt that he could possess such information, but I also cannot be sure he wasn't speaking to see what I would believe."

Ticho:

"I see." The scholar gave a curious look at her statement. He had nothing against monkeys in general, but knew only one actual monkey who spoke and was capible of intellectual conversation. He pondered briefly almost afraid to ask his next question, mostly because he suspected he knew the answer and it would be just too coincidental.

"Not many monkeys I've met are so knowledgeable. If you don't mind my asking, to whom are you referring exactly? Is it one with whom I maybe familiar?"

Shin:

Shin caught his almost desperate gaze as Ticho tried to put the dots together. She kept her sly smile as she watched him only to turn away again.

"I don't think so," she answered simply. She didn't feel the need to explain exactly who she was referring to. That took the fun out of things. Kelioux's Crimson Saru, the rumored and almost legendary personal mercenary of the Grandmaster himself. It was said there were three, but only behind closed doors in soft whispers. Why would someone like Adel need mercenaries? Why would he need a secret police? These were all things most never learned. Shin's assessment was almost a mockery, as if to suggest he never would be familiar with him even if Ticho tried.

Her foot dropped once more into the pond this time with a distinct thunk, and then she pulled both of then back to the edge and hopped to her feet. A breeze pushed back her hair as she tucked it behind her ear.

"But you never know."

With that, she was gone.

Ticho:

The girl had sidestepped his question quite thoroughly before vanishing from this plane of existence. Still, her tone and choice of words gave all the acknowledgement the saiyan needed. Smiling a knowing smile, Ticho simply watched as the world around him shifted and rearranged until he found himself once more in his own room.
