Note: I have Baba's Crystal Ball. ----------- Nothing stirred in Trumpet's room. Not so much as an ant's breath disturbed the still air. Dust had settled across pretty much everything, including the recently untouched bed in the corner. For days the room had been unoccupied as it's lone resident stayed out, training and perfecting a special new technique that he'd learned from the papers strewn across the desk in the corner. He'd devoted his entire being to it, realizing - once he made sense of the ancient diagrams and tomes - the power and useful of such a move. He had to get it right. Those same papers flew across the room in a jumbled mess as Trumpet appeared in the center of the space. He could barely contain his excitement. At last, he had mastered the Instant Transmission technique. He finally understood why Guru had sent him to Yaidrat, and he hated himself for every doubting the Grand Elder. Hi body was littered with cuts and scars from his countless attempts at teleporting, sometimes leaving behind certain parts of his own body. He was more thankful than ever for his ability to regenerate limbs as a Namekian. Now that he had learned Instant Transmission, he felt it was time to move on from Yaidrat. Guru had told him to ask the Elder where to go next, but before he did that he had to return the ancient scroll that had taught him the technique. As he quickly gathered the papers, his eye caught his bag in the corner, forgotten for the last few days. At that moment, he couldn't resist the urge to try out his newest move and a few moments later he was sitting at the desk with the crystal orb from Guru resting in front of him. Wondering who he might meet today, Trumpet took a deep breath and placed his hands on the ball. The coldness of it's surface seemed to race through his hands and up his arms towards his brain and before he could have stopped it, he found his consciousness soaring through primordial soup, wondering not only about his opponent, but where the fighters would find themselves during the battle. [Using Gem of Telepathy] The ship Cell stole was eerily quiet, the computer controlling all aspects of the ships operation. He was growing rather bored on his journey, he had no real destination in mind and was only heading to the predestined set course the Saiyans who had owned this ship previous had set. The planet Yaidrat, where a special instantaneous movement skill could be learned. How that would benefit him in his quest for perfection and the growth of his power. Cell rubbed his hands together as he paced back in forth in the gravity training center. Physical training wan important, but so was that of the mind. "Computer what program is available to assist in meditation?"Cell grumbled as he continued to pace. “No programs are currently available, in the crew quarters is an item used for telepathy…a small gem that can fit in the hands of the user.” The computer beeped twice after responding and lit a path on the floor out of the gravity chamber. Crossing his arms Cell followed the path a short ways to the room that held the gem. The doors closed behind him and the overhead lights illuminated the quarters. “I seem to have been fortunate to acquire such a nice vessel.” The Bio-Android chuckled as he took the gem off the table to his left and held it in his palm. Closing his eyes and his finger over the gem Cell exhaled slowly. His mind consciousness melting away into a deep void. How quickly he was able to attune himself to the astral plane. No doubt his advanced genetic makeup and adaptability helped in this instance. Focusing his mind on the tendrils of power he felt tugging at him Cell decided to follow one at random, his mind racing toward a preset plane of existence. As he opened his eyes he found himself in an ordinary field covered with rocks and trees, a blue sky over head and a bright star radiating a warm heat across the land. This was fascinating to him, his first experience delving into the realm of mental state. Reaching out with his attuned sense he scanned the surroundings for any other who may have done as he. Surely there was another here in this world. Cell grinned with pleasure, perhaps they could provide him with the stimulation his mind desired. WC: 390/390 |

Trumpet felt a gentle breeze on his face. He opened his eyes to see that today's battlefield was a wide field. Several large boulders jutted out of the earth at random and other than a few trees that dotted the landscape there wasn't much to look at. Far in the distance he could see a dense ring of trees that, upon further inspection, completely surrounded the field. The sea of grass rippled as the wind swept through it, giving a small respite from the sun's gaze. The namekian rose into the air, looking for a vantage point with which to see his opponent. He was met with the sight of a strange figure some distance away. Flying closer, he could see that the fighter shared a similar skin color to his own. On further inspection, he could see that instead of antennae, his foe sported two insect-like horns atop his head. A thick orange tail - tipped with some kind of barb - flicked around lazily behind the creature. In a word, Trumpet would have called him ugly. "So, I'm fighting a bug with a tail today?" the namekian called out, landing a stone's throw from his opponent. "The name's Trumpet." Though he couldn't sense an actual powerlevel, something about the bug-like fighter gave Trumpet a feeling that he was dealing with something dangerous. Something sinister. A shiver ran down his spine as the pair locked eyes. Feeling a little unsettled, Trumpet tensed up, preparing himself for anything as best as he could. He had no way to know what type of fighting style his opponent might bring to the table, but he trusted his own abilities to counter it appropriately. Words: 282/642 |

Cell looked at the fighter before him, what was he…the Bio Android pondered slightly before the name Namekian came to mind. Yes, he had Namekian DNA in his biological make up. Tilting his head ever so slightly he sized up the one who called himself Trumpet. “Do you make it a habit to be so rude mocking the appearance of beings you just meet?” Cell crossed his arms and flicked the tip of his tail against the ground. “My name is Cell Namekian, it is such a shame that in this place I cannot punish you properly for your insolence.” Cell’s tail darted forward the tip just stopping before Trumpets face. “But I suppose settling for causing your body and mind pain will have to do.” Darting backwards Cell flared his wings and kicked up into the air, his eyes focusing on Trumpet watching for any slight move the fighter would attempt to make. The formed distance between them would serve well in order to gauge his opponents speed and initial tactics. Having the upper ground in a battle was always prudent. “Now let’s see how you entertain me, perhaps if you do well enough I can hunt you for real enjoyment” Cell hissed slightly, gathering energy in the tip of his finger and slinging a blast of energy the Nameks way. Trumpet gulped as the tip of the fighter's tail stopped inches from his face. It's sharp barbed end waved dangerously before his very eyes. “But I suppose settling for causing your body and mind pain will have to do.” Relief spread throughout him as he saw Cell slid backwards, putting a little more distance between the pair and putting his face out of range of the fearsome tail. The android raised his hand and sent a small blast from the tip of his finger soaring his way. Trumpet rolled to the side and, from one knee he unleashed two narrow beams from his eyes. Following up the attack, Trumpet raised his arms and, utilizing a technique unique to his people, grew his arms to impossible lengths, aiming two downward chops to Cell's collarbones. His opponent was fast, he already realized that much, but he had a trump card that he suspected could give him an advantage. He just had to get the android on the defensive first. The namekian raised his hand to his mouth, forming a circle with his index finger and thumb. Through the ring, he blew a stream of pure ki, which formed a beach ball-sized sphere on the ground before him. With a grin, Trumpet stepped out of sight and re-materialized a few feet before his opponent. With a swift kick, he sent the orb spinning along the ground, aiming for Cell's back. Let's see if you're quick enough to dodge that... Words: 246/888 |

So the Namekian was faster than Cell had anticipated. He smirked slightly as Trumpet rolled out of the way and fired off two beams of energy from his eyes. Twisting ever so slightly out of the way they passed harmlessly off to the side. As Cell refocused his attention back on the Namekian he quickly realized the feint of the move, the fighters arms stretching out from below to chop down at his collar bone on either side. Cell jettisoned backwards, his instincts telling him that he would quickly be out of reach as the fighters arms could only stretch so far. As he prepared to form another energy attack he looked and noticed Trumpets disappearance. He sensed an attack moving in from behind, this he was impressed with, as the ball of energy zoomed in and smashed into his back. The attack exploded, rocketing Cell downward out of the sky and directly into the ground, the area cracking under the impact of his body striking. Smoke billowed off the Bio-Androids back, if anything the attack annoyed him. There was no pain, shrugging his shoulders and turning back around he smiled. “Very resourceful Namek.” Cell almost applauded the series of attacks. He likely could have dodged the orb of energy, but sometimes he could not help but test the strength of his opponents by taking a hit or two from them. But now his playful banter was evaporating. Cell bent his knees slightly and rocketed forward, his form becoming nothing more than a blur as he passed Trumpet, his arm outstretched to close line the Namekian fighter into the ground, his mouth glowing with ki as he followed up with a Mouth Blast at almost point blank range. Trumpet grinned with satisfaction as his attack hit it's target, sending the android crashing into the ground and filling the immediate area with a cloud of dust and smoke. "Guess he's not quite as fast as me," he said with a chuckle, landing back on the ground a short distance from the rapidly dissipating cloud. "Are you still alive in there, Cell?" the namekian called mockingly, crossing his arms. In response, Cell burst from the cloud at an incredible speed, clotheslining him before he could even uncrossed his arms. The force of the impact took him right off of his feet, sending him sliding along the ground on his back. When his momentum finally let up and he ground to a halt, Trumpet took a moment to collect him. Catching his breath, the namekian stood back up on wobbly legs and set his eyes on his opponent, now more wary than ever of the android's explosive offense. He looks like he never took that hit... That was my signature move and he didn't even defend against it. What kind of monster is this? Clearly his opponent was resilient, shaking off his most powerful attack. Trumpet faced the fact that - once again - he was bound to lose in the astral realm. That didn't mean he couldn't feel out his opponent a bit more though. The possibility always existed that they would meet again, maybe in the physical world. He had to know more about the enigmatic Cell. Again Trumpet moved incredibly fast, though the use of the Instant Transmission technique a second time seemed to overtax him and he sensed that, though still quick, he was moving significantly less rapidly than before. The namekian appeared just above Cell, his leg already moving straight down aimed at the top of his foe's head. Words: 304/1192 |

So clearly this Namekian knew a valuable technique, the way he moved across the battle field was more than just the normal speed teleport, he had dodged the Mouth Blast at point blank range with such ease. Cell was actually impressed, without that skill he was by far the faster fighter and from the looks of it the Bio-Android could tell Trumpet was at the length of his rope using it. This did indeed bode well for him. As he was processing all of this the Namekian dropped his heel and aimed it for Cell’s head, clearly a move to continue to test the limits of Cell’s abilities. He was gathering intelligence, but so was Cell…one could never be too sure when he would come across his opponent and have the chance to hunt him as true prey. Allowing the hit to connect, Cell bent at the knee the force of the blow being absorbed by his body and transferred to the ground beneath his feet. The ground cracked and Cell hissed, he had Trumpet where he wanted him and grabbed the Namekian by the ankle, his tail shooting around and wrapping around the fighter’s arms and midsection. Lifting him into the air Cell blasted into the sky, the sheer velocity rushing the air around the two combatants in a sonic boom. “I am curious to see how you handle fear little Namek.” Twirling in midair Cell threw his opponent across the skyline, outstretching his right arm as he formed a powerful blue orb of Ki. “Big Bang Attack!” The battle field echoed the cry as Cell launched his attack forward, the orb of energy scorching the skyline as it made its way toward the tumbling Trumpet. Cell licked his lips in anticipation, did this Namek have what it took to deflect his attack? He could only hope his playmate was resourceful enough to continue the battle, he was finally beginning to enjoy himself. WC: 324/1,224 |

Seeing that his attack had virtually no effect on his opponent disheartened Trumpet enough to throw him off his game, allowing Cell to easily grab hold of him. Before he could pull away the android had his torso wrapped with its thick, powerful tail and was carrying him rapidly into the air. With his arms trapped and Cell's superior strength, he could do nothing but wait. When finally the android tossed him through the air like a ragdoll, Trumpet quickly caught his balance midair. A large blue ki blast was bearing down on him and with no time to try and deflect it, the namekian rushed forward to meet it head-on, filling his lungs with air. He unleashed a scream so loud that it momentarily shook the actual fabric of the astral projection. It did tear a hole straight through the Big Bang Attack, allowing him to pass unharmed, though the heat from inside the blast singed his clothes slightly. In a flash he was out the otherside, and mere feet from Cell. Hoping to have the drop on his foe, Trumpet fired a bolt of eletricity that he had already charged in his antennae and followed right behind the attack, launching a barrage of punches at Cell's upper body. The unfortunate truth, he knew, was that if Cell just kept taking his attacks head on like he had so far, he would learn nothing of the menace's fighting style or tendencies. He already knew the android's sheer resiliency was far superior to his own, but that gave him no useful tactics for the future. Words: 265/1457 |

Very resourceful indeed, Cell could tell the Namek was pushing his upper limits as he successfully tore through his big bang attack. Granted he had not put anything into the attack more than needed, but he was impressed with how he handled himself. Trumpet would make a fine meal, Cell would be sure to hunt him in the land of the living. His mind processing, Cell dodged the electric attack the Namekian had been storing, the sizzle and pop of the air audible as he moved past and met his opponent in hand to hand aerial combat. He would indulge his foe, his arms deflecting each strike from side to side, his own counter strikes being turned in stride as well. Thrill filled Cell, he was finally fighting someone who allowed him to fully warm up. And as such it was time to turn it up, Cell’s aura ignited as he used the force of his ki to push Trumpet back, breaking his guard and using the brief reprieve to increase the separation between the two. Cell phased into sight on the ground below, his aura still pulsing as he cracked his neck from side to side. “I think the warm up phase for me is over Namek, time to get a little more serious!” Clenching his fists and bending at the knee’s Cell’s aura doubled in size, his body surging with power. The ground beneath his feet began to break and rise in simultaneous synergy with an ever-growing crater beneath his feet. As Cell shrunk into the ground, his aura eating away at the ground and rocks around him his energy raged to the upper limits of his imperfect form. If the Namek wanted to see more Cell would show him more, it was the least he could do in order to repay him for his entertainment. “Now don’t run away Trumpet!” Cell roared, his power crackling around his body as he erupted into the skyline. He would show the Namekian brute strength as he tore back down from the heavens above, his aura flaring in the wind. As Cell closed in on Trumpet the true test of his opponent’s resiliency would show in how he met the Bio-Androids Dragon Dive. WC: 372/1596 |

All Trumpet received from his frontal attack on Cell was more futility. It was evident he could no more keep up with the insect-like creature then he could injure it. Thought speed was something he prided himself on, he'd need to be both faster and stronger if he wanted to hang with fighters of that caliber. Rather than deterring him though, the lesson served to inspire him to push even harder. His leaps and bounds in that same department as of late had given him a false sense of security, but it was clear that, though no slouch in his own right, Trumpet was still lagging behind fighters with true power such as Cell's. Emphasizing this point, the android shoved him backwards to create space simply by flexing his aura, breaking off the rapid exchange of blows. As he regained his balance midair, he saw the android had settled on the ground and had begun to power up, his power quickly soaring to new heights. Cell wasn't the only one holding back, though. As the android powered up, Trumpet too reached into his deepest reserves, opening the flood gates and letting the power of the Kyodaika flow through his veins. As his power grew, so too did his body. Though he was twenty feet in the air, his limbs grew and stretched until his feet were touching the grassy field. Just as he finished the transformation, Cell rocketed past his face, higher still into the sky than he now stood. Running away? As if he heard the thought, Cell turned course and fell back to the ground, losing altitude so rapidly he could have been mistaken for a falling meteor. Momentum alone would have put significant force behind the strike, but Trumpet knew the android was speeding himself up still yet. A thin blue blanket formed before the namekian. Thought not impregnable, it would safeguard against much of the strength of the attack. Still, Trumpet threw his now massive arms in an x, intending to absorb the brunt of the blow with his forearms. When the two bodies met, a shockwave rushed out so powerfully that the first few rows of trees in the distance were flattened. Trumpet himself slid back dozens of feet before the android's forward motion was finally stilled. When it was all said and done, though he had survived the attack, Trumpet's elbows now ended in blood stumps, his foe having literally cut through the layers of his arms with his own body. The pain was intense, but if not for his defensive efforts, he suspected Cell could have blown a hole through his entire body. A sickly smile spread across Trumpet's enlarged face, now just feet from Cell. "Luckily, they grow back," he said with a chuckle, firing a beam of energy from both of his pupils at point-blank range. At his new size, the usually thin streams of energy now formed veritable rivers of ki with which to consume the android. Words: 500/1957 |

The word resourceful continued to play back in this battle, Trumpet had grown into a monstrous size. Cell’s dragon dive attack had blown the now giants arms into nubs, but they would regrow. They both shared that genetic trait and it always seemed to come in handy. Cell on the other hand knew his regenerative capabilities were far superior to the Namekians. Sure, he had transformed, but after utilizing multiple attacks and taking the blows he had, Cell was almost positive the Namekian was at the very limits of his endurance. This transformation would only serve to bring that issue to the forefront rather quickly. The task at hand though was stopping the massive eye beams that he had fired off. Crossing his arms Cell braced for impact, the size of the attack might have grown but the power contained therein was still the same if Trumpet had been of normal size. It didn’t take long for the Bio-Android to be engulfed in the super-sized waves, the heat singing his skin and blocking him from sight. As fast as he was engulfed the waves of ki passed and dissolved into the distance. Perhaps Cell thought, as he was still standing the waves of ki were stronger than anticipated. His own arms had dissolved in the attack, purple blood spilling out onto the ground. Grunting his arms started to regenerate, his cells rapidly rebuilding the lost limbs in a matter of seconds. “Very good…I will enjoy finding you Trumpet…and adding you to perfection.” Cell was done playing with his quarry. He let his aura burst once more to life as he raised his newly formed right arm to form another big bang attack. The orb highly condensed as he fed more and more ki into the attack. He could feel his own powerlevel growing as he fed his withheld energies into the orb, his left hand bracing his wrist as the attack grew and grew in magnitude. He would be damned if he was going to dart in and out of this giant sized Nameks massive arcing physical attacks or deal with his increased mass. Cell would just blow a hole through his massive chest. “I’m not sure what you thought making yourself bigger would accomplish except making yourself a bigger target.” Cell growled as he continued to pump his Ki into the attack, the sheer immensity of the condensed orb weighing down the air around him. “You have fought harder than any opponent I have come across yet, you have intrigued me to find you in the world of the real.” Cell licked his lips as he thought about the fine morsel Trumpet would provide. “I only hope you are as excited as I am to meet in person!” With that Cell released what he determined to be his final attack, the orb of the Big Bang expanding in magnitude to encompass the fast majority of his view. “I bid you farewell till then my prey!” WC: 496 TWC: 2092 |

Cell took his eye beams full on, becoming enveloped by the twin energy streams. When the beams faded away, he was left standing in midair still, his own arms also blown away. The extent of the damage surprised Trumpet, having expected to have no effect on his opponent. Still, his victory was short lived, as even more rapidly than his own, the android's limbs began to grow back. Within seconds they had completely reformed. After some taunting, Cell began to gather another large blue energy blast in his hand, putting an intimidating amount of power into the attack. Finally he released the blast, which met Trumpet's chest and, just as Cell had promised, effortlessly ripped a gaping hole through his torso. Trumpet dropped to the ground, blood pooling around him. Though he had pushed his own limits against the terrible Cell, he felt he'd failed to learn enough about the android to help him in future engagements. He had more work to do, that much was obvious. The image of the sinister bio-machine faded away as the world melted around him. Words: 181/2000+ |
