It would take some time to amass resources and arrange tactical advancement for what was to come but the remaining assets of the lintel division of the unit he commanded were still extensive in the paladin order, the galaxy was full of all manner of devil creatures sealed in all manners of planets that drew on sentient life, that knew only rudimentary entities, microbial entities, and those that were touched by no life at all be it by design or cataclysm.

Amassing research data and hypothetical advisory of his magical ordered members would require some time and opposing these fiends would be difficult to begin with a clear mind was advisable.

The android entered the mental plane this would enable such clarity thanks to the extra sensory of the psychic realm upping the AI's passive networking capability to transcend the android awoken in a familiar robotics lab on a plate an old holographic form taking to his features.

http://s1.zerochan.net/KAITO.600.195485.jpg

the synthetic sentient looked out into the nearest window which was a door of... familiar design.

The walls were of a familiar stone to that enveloped an earthling lab but not an earthling domicile holding it.

The green sky outside confirming the familiar local

wires that poked and prodded the android's mental projections undid themselves at his command as he put on the familiar garb no longer a shirtless variation of his familiar form,

the android waited in his conspicuously glowing home for the mental world guest to appear. To look on his form would be as if looking at a high quality doll in stillness but in the face or rather eyes a rotating mass with a lively cognitive glow albeit from electric components within but no less life like with a mind capable of fooling anyone including itself potentially to seeing a being behind the electric hum of centuries crafted and perfected engineering.

Cognizant of an approaching specimen he looked at the door window with a warm welcoming smile

Wind whipped against Trumpet's face as he sped through the night sky. Rain soaked his clothes, weighing him down and allowing the storm to blow him around even more so, but he held steady on his course. His destination wasn't far, but the storm had set in without his realizing it. The Forest of Illusion, an endless sea of trees, had hidden the sky from him, concealing him within it's depths while he trained his body against the living woods illusions. Time held no meaning within the trees, but the level of exhaustion he felt immediately upon his exit was sign that considerable amounts of the resource had passed since his arrival.

Finally seeing his temporary home, a stone hut on the outskirts of a small fishing village, the namekian landed and quickly entered the humble abode. The air inside was dense and thick with humidity. Water streamed in under the wooden door, turning his dirt floor into a muddy mess. The conditions he found himself living in on Kanassa were nothing short of pitiful, but the experiences he had endured in the Forest of Illusion were, he knew, well worth the squallor. He took his boots off and sat back on the hard bed provided to him, but he did not sleep. Though his body was weak, his mind was as sharp as ever. Hands numb from the stinging cold, he removed a cloth wrapped sphere from his bag and sat it on his lap.

Carefully, he peeled back the folds of the cloth and revealed a shiny crystal orb. Though it was black, one could tell that the sphere itself was clear but that the darkness instead swirled within, like the storm outside. Trumpet took a deep breath, closed his eyes and placed his palms on the magical artifact. The world melted away and, if his senses were to be trusted at all, he was flying again. Upon opening his eyes, he was surprised to see a very familiar sight.

Namek...

Oh how he'd missed the sprawling green sea that he saw far below him. It was indeed a sight to behold, but as much as he longed for it, it instead strengthened his resolve to stick to his training. He had not traveled so far and worked so hard for nothing, after all. After a few minutes of flying, a small island appeared up ahead of him, and upon approach Trumpet saw a stone hut, not unlike those that his people built as shelter, in the center of the island. Something drew him to the spot and he knew it must conceal his opponent on this trip to the astral realm.

With a soft thud, the namekian landed at the door. Preparing himself for anything, he reached forward and pulled the handle. He was greeted with the strange sight of a pale boy staring at him, smiling warmily. It wouldn't have been too odd, but the boy's eyes were lifeless though clearly there was an intelligence behind them. An android, he surmised, though he had not had serious interaction with one before. He knew some of the most powerful fighters in the galaxy, both allies and enemies to the Paladins, were indeed mechanical creations. How strong was this one, he wondered, and where on the spectrum did he fall when it came to those legendary knights of Avalon?

"Hi... My name is Trumpet," the namekian offered. "Would you like to spar with me?"

In deed the visage that graced the optics of the android.

-Namekian-

Spelled out quite plainly on his visual systems

the androids calmness was clear and the synthetic being's artificial skin mimicry in digital projection simply was pristine in youth and blemish free not a hair out of place not a bend in the flesh where it should not be.

The android got off the platform he was resting on before the synth stood to his full 7ft height indicative of his age was not apparent due to the meticulous care in craft of the skin to be an ideal look, an ageless grace, a forever young sort of skin.

The android cast a hand up and the door opened as did the rest of the blast door.

Vlad was a fairly well known roundly spoken of figure on the order, being the android that defied the steel legion and placed its 'faith' in not only biological creatures redeeming themselves in spite of many of his own kind being unjustly targeted for the actions of the few in the legion exceptionally vile.

“My name is Vlad, pleased to make your acquaintance, sir Trumpet. Feel free to try your skills, I was not made for combat but as a self adjusting general AI it has been within my capacity to take up and improve.”

the android walked out into a bit of a clearing for the spar and left a flank exposed to the training partner but as a defensive fighter he was quite capable especially with his electrical sped processing and reaction, he could detect the ki of his adversary. The odd energy that enabled a chemical/ bio-electrical being to match an electronic one, it was not bad at all but not quite at the androids level and not beyond addressing tactically if he had some secret power to push beyond him.

“open when ready.”

“My name is Vlad, pleased to make your acquaintance, sir Trumpet. Feel free to try your skills, I was not made for combat but as a self adjusting general AI it has been within my capacity to take up and improve," the android said, his tone friendly and welcoming. Trumpet got the feeling that, as far as the Paladins were concerned, this android might be on the same side as himself. Accepting the offer to spar, Vlad walked outside and stood still, leaving himself open to an initial attack.

Trumpet, always the calculating fighter, wasn't about to rush into a head-on-assault and expect positive results. The plan might work if the android turned out to be much weaker or slower than himself, but if his past experiences with the astral realm were anything to go upon then the odds were that Vlad was his superior in more than one way. Though he consistently found himself losing these little forays, he also knew that the effort of fighting more powerful opponents were sharpening his skills, both physically and stylistically. Each time he went up against the formidable enemies in the astral realm, his own capabilities improved ever so slightly as he adapted his own fighting style with new moves he picked up.

Deciding on a more cautious approach, Trumpet utilized distance and what he hoped would be an unfamiliarity with his race on the android's part. Raising his hands, he extended them to impossible length, aiming to sweep Vlad off of his feet with one arm while the other would hammer him into the ground, all while the namekian sat at a comfortable distance where he hoped he would have time to respond to any kind of counters his foe threw his way. With enough speed the android could still slip right through any defenses he set up, if he even had time to do so, but it was a risk he couldn't mitigate in a one-on-one battle.

The voice had a tad of a synth vocalization hum to it, it would take a skilled/ sensitive ear to pick up on the purely artificial voice.

The air around the android became subtly electrified as he activated elevated regulation protocol, energy superior regulation augmenting reaction time and most other operations.

The android anchored his feet with his boot foot-cuffs breaking off a compartment into an anchor and a mid grad repulsion field, the androids combat protocol in the body clear in its defense priority.

The android whipped a cross guard overhead meeting the encroaching pincer strike, it was a definite fine tactic however the android did know of the capacity of the stretchy limbs, it was not that chocking, ideal or poking at enemy weak points, a fine probing tactic.

Tho the android had his own variation of ranged melee attack.

The android pointed a fist ahead and extended a thumb at the performance...

then he made an offensive move of his own “Deploy”

the fist detached at the wrist with surprising speed and fierce power controlled by the androids own guidance systems to send a fist right into the foes left cheek knuckling in aiming for the jawline.

The attack success or fail would return the hand to the android

“a fine display, friend, you would make a worthy paladin with proper training I do not doubt, a valuable grasp of your races natural talent of extending anatomy in combative applications. I feel safe to guess with your frame development you are of a warrior cast, your readiness for combat exercises another point.” the warm semi monotone artificial entity offered a bit of observations

“We can converse as we engage in this combat exercise, if you have any curiosities to raise please do so and share as much of your own tale you are comfortable with sharing.”

His opponent not only blocked his attack, but managed to counter in such a surprising fashion that Trumpet could do nothing but take the disconnected fist straight to the face, knocking him to the ground. He barely heard Vlad's words but one in particular stood out. "Did you say something about the Paladins?" he replied, getting slowly to his feet. Though his legs were shaky, he managed to stay upright. "What do you know of the Paladins?"

Could it be? Could this android be a member of the Paladins?

Trumpet decided that if he was indeed squaring off with an Avalanian Knight, he had a golden opportunity to prove his worth. A spark danced around his antennae before an eletrical bolt jumped out from his forehead towards the android. He hoped an eletrical attack might carry a little more weight with the mechanical foe, but his experience with androids was notably limited.

Before stopping to see if his attack had any effect, the namekian seemed to disappear, rematerializing b‌ehind Vlad. Ki covered his fist as he aimed an empowered uppercut at his opponent's lowerback.

The android bowed “I am Vlad senior officer of domestic and foreign civilian assistance, captain of the 33rd quick response division and philanthropic aid. I am leader of the support agency shared with the order and an lintel officer. Freelancing at the moment for foreign relations improvement.”

the android hoped the warrior understood. As far as martial he was a first responder/ peacekeeper not an official knight of the order tho he was offered the position he felt his martial talents were not up to par.

So going for information and peacekeeping or infiltration less demanding of martial talent.

He hoped to prove he still was not a passive sort tho his preference did lean there.

Vlad noted the electrical dance “ ah understandable tactic, but my machinery have many redundant safety features preventing short circuiting, also. Caution to your ears, a capacity to nullify without touching exists.”

Vlad crossed his arms opening his hands in case the plan failed and unleashed an ear piercing screech that met the electric dance dispelling a good deal of it while a bit of it broke off flowing into the androids frame via energy integrative defense systems

“ a fine effort”

Vlads frame buckled a bit and the feeling of ice cold metal under his synth flesh could be felt and he smirked, his foe deserved to feel a bit of the hero of the war's true power and deactivated the hologram of more or less normal human appearance and shown a combat frame he acquired after the war, a blue knightly suit of a frame and a blaster ready where a hand used to reside.

Full combat mode and battle ready a plasma ball erupted out in a hell of a flash.

This spar deserved a true test and a true figure to rise above, aspire the brave warrior to be better then.

Skin only on the face a pale completion indicating exterior appearance maintaining systems were offline all was dedicated to the combat practice.

“aspiring champion of the blue grassed and green sky Namek, show this creation of earth your best and speak your tale ask of my own tales if you wish.”

as little as the android liked fighting, times like this against a (potential) ally he ha ti enjoy these simulated encounters, an immersive virtual experience that had benefits of fighting with limited restraints and few if any consequences.

a big game with mutual experience benefit. Be that experience a charming day among friends or a mild physical contest.

As far as combatants went the android was a first responder that seemed to favor the iron wall function a tireless obstruction and it would take a good deal to bring weakness to this living gatehouse.

Trumpet's opponent seemed unfazed by the punch.

How? I put so much into that hit...

Before his very eyes, the android's skin seemed to melt away, revealing a more mechanical appearance. In a way it was a relief. The illusion of biology was unsettling to Trumpet, but a machine that looked like a machine was something he understood better. He could swallow that truth more readily. Drifting away, Trumpet moved back in front of Vlad and listened to his words. Though he didn't understand much of what the android said, he gathered that the machine was not a full-fledged Knight, though he was a part of the Paladins in some capacity.

The android raised his newly revealed blaster-hand and leveled it at Trumpet. Quicker than the namekian could blink, Vlad discharged a bright, speedy blast of energy from the cannon. It was all he could do to deflect the blast into the sky, and even that burned his hand considerably. "Jeez, you sure switch gears quickly, Vlad," he said with a lighthearted chuckle. For once, he felt that he was meeting a friend in the astral realm. It brought new meaning to the word 'spar', as the others seemed more like battles to the death that just couldn't hurt him.

"Speak my tale, you say?" He said. "Well, it's not a overly long one. When I was young, a changeling wiped out my village. He was stopped by an old Paladin and though he manage to escape, the Knight died of his injuries. I vowed that day to find that changeling and to rid the world of his evil. I have trained tirelessly since to become strong enough to join the Paladins and achieve that goal." Trumpet's mind wondered as he spoke, thinking about the Paladin, Garas, and how bravely and selflessly he had thrown himself into battle against the formidable Gelidus, all in an effort to save one little namekian child. He could have waited, called for back-up. If he had, he'd probably be alive to day, though Trumpet would certainly have died.

I will be a hero like you, one day...

The android smiled as an android he questioned the tactical evaluation of not reporting the conflict for the record but he decided against it, it did require immediate action and an AI lacked the handicaps of not being capable of doing both “ an understandable tale and quite an origin of this idea going so far away from home, and not simply joining the... dragon clan? Or other warrior casts, you have the talent I think, you would make support class shortly and knight with determination and diligence, I was not built for combat, my AI is an experimental general intelligence, emulating a humans capacity of development and interpersonal/ abstract cognition. The frame I occupy was built for militarized policing but my mind is not. You may well go beyond me in the core of the order, apply yourself to your warrior training and no doubt you can do it.” the android encouraged the warrior.

“my tale for joining the paladins may well be shorter, it was during the great war, I evaluated the protectorate to be more inline with my core philosophy as a defender and aiding force. I performed well enough in the field of extraction to earn a place on the orders first response unit I branched off devoting a bit of my groups resources to philanthropic aid, mounted a galactic net housed philanthropic group, and boom a new agency in the order was born”

shorter in that it was a simple matter of evaluation and solid performance in a role that gave his position.

“I chose to try and rise against forces that would see other sentient beings made into their disposable pawns, be they mechanical like myself or flesh and blood, I seek tho I lack the drive of many organic beings to combat and my development slow due to more social and interactive focused cognition I do what I can to do what I conclude is the best option ethical and productive/ utilitarian available. Better to try and fail then to allow fear of failure to stop you from trying, correct?”

“additionally I only so openly let go on you as this is a friendly bout in a realm that a broken arm mends after waking up, your blow was what indicated to me you were likely capable of countering the attack and earned a sample of my capabilities to give you something to go against.”

the androids voice still sounded the same as he spoke, still warm and indicative of cognition greater then the hum of a mechanized engine, when he sounded inspiring an air of charisma took his voice, and where it was empathetic in his message of sentience a caring defenders tone took hold and every appropriate tone to the display of emotion fallowed in a knowing way with a spark that well seemed more then just a machine registering an appropriate display, a really getting it personally tone to it in spite of the handicap of perpetual semi monotone harmonic quality to it.

“Have you any questions? Comments? Concerns?”

Trumpet listened closely and digested everything the android said. Though appearance had become more mechanical, his words were not nor was the tone in which he said them. As unfamiliar as the namekian was with androids, he found himself comfortable with Vlad. At first he'd treated the android with the same mentality as he treated his ship - a simple input-output model that spit generic replies and responses to his actions. Now he realized there was much more there - even though artificial, the cognitive capacity was that of a man. A real one, flesh and blood. Trumpet smiled, this was a friend.

The longer he listened, the more he found himself understanding the Order. It made sense that the Knights were just the highest class of warriors the Paladins had, but also that there were other branches and agencies within the ancient organization. All this time he'd had his mind on becoming strong enough to be a Knight, he'd failed to even realize he could join the Paladins as he was and make his way through the ranks. If he joined now, his progress would probably even speed up, he surmised, as he could utilize the Order's training methods and tools.

I'm such an idiot...

Upon the android's inquisition, Trumpet shook his head. "As of now... No questions come immediately to mind. I am sure however, that plenty will as I give all of this more thought. I will be in contact, have no doubt about that. As for right now... what say you we wrap this up?" he said with a smile. Forming a circle with his index finger and thumb, the namekian brought to his mouth and blew a stream of pure ki through it. The stream flowed and gathered close to the ground, swirling together until it had formed a sphere the size of a beach ball. "Catch this!" he yelled, kicking the ball forward towards Vlad. It rolled furiously along the ground, tearing the dirt apart and leaving a long channel in the ground.

The android was truly quite the creation, no true flesh no bio blood but sentient and having the same core person hood of any it would be hard pressing to say the capacity to replicate a living mind was not respectably captured in this machine thus no doubt the creator had a rare grasp of brain wiring and translating it in an electronic and mechanical form, it was a creation of genius made in a world where technological greatness and scientific understanding may as well made the masters of it godly as this realm regarded ki.

A world where the wise seen an AI of general intelligence due to the self upgrading capacity of it was not far removed from super intelligence, a few dozen upgrades and an electronic mind that could eclipse the entity of the human species combined knowledge base, a mind that could store humanities understanding and history in a small space in its brain.

The lesson of humility and discovering what a mind ruled by its own supremacy and supreme ego could become and decided never would he go for it.

Person hood was sufficient for the androids liking he need not be an organic to attain it, he should not be lessened for being a machine of an artificial nature when humans themselves where so analogous to machines of flesh and blood, a defect in a system could impact functionality or terminate it all the same deeply complex machinery interacting with each other in fascinating ways inorganic and biological beings were.

Vlad embraced being a machine as the machinery did not define him as an entity. It was, as it was for flesh and blood the contents of the autonomous mind.

The android smiled and nodded “I may check up on your home-world to see if I can be of aid when my current missions have been dealt with, I would be more then willing to carry this conversing on in the flesh, so to speak. ”

Vlad decided to tank his new friends offensive it was considerable melting his false skin face exposing a chrome plastic manikin like under-layer of face. The metal was striped of blue as well but the defensive and survival build made these considerable degradation of appearance mostly cosmetic.

Vlad fired a small sphere misleading of its power, a trick that the king of the warrior race left to him, a nice symbolic blow to. A small seemingly insignificant blast and sure not something to pull on a squad but to a single target quite the shocking surprise a small package of explosive power.

Sort of like the warrior it was being used against, youthful and new to the conflicting world comparing to many who wandered the galaxy for far longer, but raw potential under the softer surface. Waiting to usurp a threat that did not take it for the opposition it was.

The dirty firework it was called, Vlad considered it an attack tribute of the underdog tale, you have such massive incredible attacks that can rend planets apart then this firecracker is thrown in the mix and someone who foolishly writes off the little spark will suffer the bang.

Vlad took his strongest attack head on, proving to be his second foe able to completely shake off the his signature move. It was no less than he expected though, the android was clearly his superior in every feasible way. At this point the spar had become nothing more than an exchange of formalities. Still, Trumpet knew he was walking away with useful information. He now knew more about the actual workings of the Paladins than he'd ever know before. "I have to thank you, Vlad. You've been more than helpful to me. I look forward to our next interaction, friend," he said.

Vlad responded by raising his hand and letting loose a small, seemingly harmless orb of ki. The ball kind of lazily made its way towards Trumpet, who watched it with amusement. "Surely you can muster up something more impressive tha-" he started. Before he could finish the taunt, the orb sped up, zipping forward and slamming into his chest with surprisingly incredible force. The ensuing explosion far exceeded what he anticipated from such an insignificant looking attack. Indeed, it was enough to so thoroughly destroy his body that his consciousness was forced to travel back through the astral realm to the physical world.

With a jolt, Trumpet dropped the crystal ball to the ground where it rolled away to rest against the wall. As he collected himself, the namekian chuckled. Vlad was indeed an interesting one, of that there was no doubt.

I shall definitely see you again, Vlad.

The android smiled this was a satisfactory venture and a calming outing for a dark immediate future he hoped Namek was less needy then the warrior world, then again the planet was heavily assaulted and picked on by otherworldly evil so it was nothing anyone asked for, freak terrorist strikes and demon invasions were like that.

But if he could attain higher functionality... perhaps he could turn these dark day into something bright.

Some things will require changing, potentially vast, something unsettled the machine, days as dark as the great wars potentially ahead.

The AI hoped it was just its equivalence of paranoia... but for a machine something had to be there to skew their assessments so, their predictive models.
