NOTE: I AM USING BABA'S CRYSTAL BALL

--------

A trio of boulders hurtled through the air, accompanied by a storm of small rocks and other debris. At first place, one might think that the projectiles were flying about at random, but on further inspection they would find that there was a method to the madness. Amidst the whirldwind of earth was a lone green skinned warrior. Forming a triangle around him were three frog-like Kanassans, their bodies stiff with concentration. For his part, the namekian artfully dodged the boulders and other missiles. It seemed an intricate dance, one where the man in the middle made it a point to come as close to getting hit as possible before narrowly dodging out of the way.

Finally though, the physical exertion proved too much and the namekian was struck on the leg by a boulder. The impact spun him around and landed him hard on his chest on the ground. Thousands of smaller rocks pelted him, tearing at his clothes and skin. The figure laid still, seemingly ignoring the onslaught. Just when it seemed that one of the boulders was about to flatten him against the hard ground, the namekian vanished and reappeared outside of the triangle of death. Instantly the storm of stones dropped harmlessly to the ground.

Trumpet breath came laboriously as he found a tree to lean against and eased himself to the ground. He had been training vehemently on Kanassa, but finally he felt like he was finding his own bodily limits. Fortunately, he had other means to his ends. From within his backpack he produced a cloth covered sphere and, tossing the cloth aside, revealed a clear crystal ball. A dark cloud swirled within it, occasionally showing a scene or taking some shape before turning to a shapeless mass. He took a deep breath, cleared his mind, and placed his palms on the sphere.

An icy shock caused him to open his eyes again. Trumpet found that he was standing chest deep in dark, freezing water. Immediately he waded ashore and analyzed his surroundings. It appeared his battlefield today would be a barren, rocky beach scene. The sky wasn't dark, but it was overcast and, in a word, dreary.

He couldn't sleep. The angel was flipping channels on the tv and pacing back and forth. Why was he so restless? He had a good idea of his friend's pl and if he was handling the mission, surely Uriel could. He began to gather up the supplies for the trip, may as well use all the pent energy for something. Pulling out his backpack, looking for the sensu beans, he found that odd crystal that helped him find Zyren again. It was glowing brightly, amber ray covering the winged man's face. He took the stone, closed his eyes and focused deeply.

The wind was blowing through his auburn hair as he opened his eyes, frowning a bit. He was outside somewhere. There was a beach surrounding him but very different than the one at the Kame House. It was very gloomy and foreboding. The angel felt uneasy as he scanned his surrounding. There a few meters away stood a Namekian, but not like Kami. This one was young, and had an athletic build. The celestial raised his power level about halfway. He couldn't anything from the stranger just yet and that concerned.

"Hello there," Uriel greeted, his tone neutral as he called out the other man. "Are you from here? I'm not even sure where here is."

Trumpet watched curiously as a man materialized nearby. Though he'd only seen a few humans, he thought the man looked an awful lot like a typical earthling, with one glaring difference. Two gigantic, majectic wings sprouted from the man's back, folding neatly behind him. The namekian's jaw nearly dropped in surprise, but he managed to keep his composure to realize the man was speaking to him. "From here?" he echoed, spreading his hands wide to include the entire beach. "No, I'm not from here. This land... it's not real- at least, I don't think it is. I believe it only exists within our minds."

The namekian knelt down and scooped up a handful of coarse, off-white sand. The beaches on Namek didn't have sandy beaches such as this one, though he had seen one once already in the astral realm. If the scenes he saw inside the telepathic link were created in his own head, why would he picture something wholey unfamiliar to himself? For a moment, he felt his train of thought leading him somewhere particular, but as quickly as it had begun it seemed to derail and he lost it. There was something lying just below the surface, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it.

Sighing, Trumpet stood back upright and turned back to the strange bird-man. "Well... if you are unused to this place, I will tell you that I often come here to battle with others. If you're interested, let's get in some sparring. What do you say?"

The green man approached him non threateningly as he addressed the angel. Uriel dropped his guard a bit as the stranger spoke to him. He had created the location with his mind. Why the Namekian choose a place like this was a mystery but the knowledge the the winged man could have the same power intrigued him. When the alien talked to him about sparring, his interest grew even more.

"I'm always game for a chance to test my abilities," said to the Namekian. He had just engaged in a spar the day before but he didn't feel fatigued at all. This could be enjoyable."I have something important to do later, so lets say we skip with warm up," he offered with a tight smile. "Oh, and my name is Uriel." The angel settled into a fighting stance, raising his power higher and higher, a gold aura surrounding him.

Uriel unsheathed his razor sharp sword and lunged at the green man, an ember blur speeding towards his opponent. He hoped the other fighter would react in time to not be eviscerated. Fire erupted from his blade and drew it behind his back. He stopped abruptly, right in front of the alien and swung his weapon in an x, left hip to right shoulder, then the opposite way.

The man accepted his offer, but then brandied few words before taking the initiative on getting started. He did reveal his name: Uriel. Moving gracefully, the fighter drew his sword and darted forward, swinging it in a wide arc. Though he was clearly practiced in sword-play, Trumpet observed that for once in the astral realm, his opponent seemed to move much slower than he himself were capable of. With relative ease, the namekian ducked and dodged the pair of slashes directed his way and countered with a knee to the chin before sliding backwards.

With his superior speed, Trumpet could afford to let the fight come to him without worrying about getting stuck on the defensive the entire time. Still, he knew he'd have to be careful of that blade. Things could get hairy pretty quickly if he slipped up or found that his opponent was holding back. To keep Uriel on his toes, he directed a set of twin beams from his pupils towards his foe's chest. They weren't enough to cause serious damage, but they'd hurt enough to hopefully insight the fighter to get flustered and make a mistake.

Fighting to reveal his opponent's weaknesses was always Trumpet's preferred method, though unfortunately he found that tactic wasn't much use against the opponent's he usually encountered in the astral realm. They frequently overwhelmed him with far superior speed and strength, forcing him to constantly put his all into every little action. Hopefully with Uriel he could take the time to read into the man's actual fighting style.

Damn he was fast. Probably on par with his former android acquaintance. He hit nothing but air as the green skinned man nimbly avoided his blades and then sent the winged man sprawling with a powerful knee to his face. The angel tumbled end over end, dirt flying up from the ground as his body tore through jagged rocks. He let himself get carried a bit further away while trying to think of a plan. There would be no respite for him to do. The Namekian was pressing the offensive. A pair of this but powerful laser beams emitted from the his skull, seeking the celestial out.

"Not yet," Uriel said quietly to himself, flipping upright, skillfully. With a wide arcing horizontal motion with right arm, he met the Namekian's attack and sent it flying, a small explosion followed shortly. Simultaneously with other hand, he reached out and grabbed his steel tipped, onyx hammer. The angel raised him weapon high above the air and smashed it back down with thunderous force. Huge chunks of rocks flew up in the air, and the ground fissure a few yards around the fighter. Uriel picked out the largest stone and with the intense precision of only one who had mastered the technique, swung his cudgel, connecting with his target and sent it hurtling towards his opponent.

Trumpet nodded appreciatively as his opponent simply smacked the twin beams away, causing them to harmlessly explode a short distance away. Not that he really expected much out of the relatively fundamental attack, but he did take note that the man wouldn't be openly inviting even trivial strikes such as it. Maintaining his distance, he watched Uriel shift from his sword to a hammer and in a glorious display of raw strength, strike the ground causing it to crack slightly. Sand scattered in every direction, revealing a more rocky ground below. Several large rocks flew into the air and, impressively, the bird man struck one squarely, sending it flying his way.

Trumpet fired a second set of eye beams which struck the small boulder and split it into thousands of smaller pieces, all of which spread out to completely avoid him. The attack wasn't successful, but it was still an interesting move by his opponent, certainly one he had no seen before. The namekian decided to make things a little more cozy, charging forward through the now falling debris. He zig zagged as he neared before diving into the air, passing completely over Uriel. He landed just behind the over-sized bird on his hands, using his entire body like a coil spring to drop kick his target in the center of the back, right between the gigantic wings.

Uriel watched as the boulder sailed through his target. Suddenly, another explosion happened right before it was due to strike the green man and a smaller shower of rocks burst apart, obscuring the angel's vision. He couldn't see the Namekian anywhere. He reached out to sense him but his thoughts were interested by powerful force driving into his back. The winged man sailed into the murky sky with grunt of pain. It did hurt but he'd been struck by much more powerful opponents. Still, he really needed to step it up. The green skinned man was tough enough and his speed was incredible. He appeared to be intelligent as well but the head on approach had failed.

The angel stopped himself in mid air, quickly devising a plan of attack. With his right hand, he gathered up so swirling, golden ki in the palm of his hand. "Let's do this," Uriel said resolutely. He peppered the area around the other fighter with a machine gun like salvo of dozen energy beams. As soon as the last pellet left his hand, he vanished and reappeared right behind what he hoped would still be the Namekian's backside. With a swift motion, he swung his mighty hammer right towards the other's knees, hoping it would leave him off kilter.

Trumpet felt a satisfying thud as his feet struck his opponent, sending the bird man flying the opposite direction. His success was short-lived though, because as he rose back to his feet he was struck in the chest by a small energy blast. The ensuing explosion didn't hurt him much, but it left his clothes smoldering. Before he could launch some kind of counterattack, a dozen other explosions rocked him, sending him stumbling backwards. Just as he was about to regain his balance, something hard struck him in the knee, knocking his legs straight out from under him.

Shocked, the namekian fell onto his back and saw the bird man standing over him. He was disappointed in himself for being taken by surprise so easily, but he wouldn't let Uriel off without paying for it. Spinning on his back, he used his own legs to sweep his foe to the ground as well and in the same motion skillfully flipped back up onto his feet a dozen feet away with his hands raised to the sky. Employing a technique unique to the namekian people, he extended his arms and brought them down together in a powerful hammer-fist attack.

Most fighters, he knew, had never seen the move before and usually he was able to catch his opponent's by surprise the first time or two. After that the technique kind of became a gimmick more than anything, but it was always worth a try if he hadn't used it already.

Trumpet was a little surprised to find how easily his move worked, leaving Uriel face down in the sand. As he retracted his arms to their original length, he waited for the bird man to get back up, but he laid unmoving. "Come on, bird, get up already and continue this little spar, I was just starting to have fun!" he called, crossing his arms across his chest. Uriel remained motionless and then his body just kind of faded away. "Well then... that was all kinds of rude."

The namekian just kind of stood on the beach for a few minutes, wondering why his opponent had just up and disappeared on him like that.

Am I not a good host?

With a sigh, Trumpet sat down in the cold sand and stared out across the ocean. Though he knew it wasn't physically real, it had a calming effect all the same. It occurred to him that he hadn't taken time out to watch the waves roll in and out in a long time, so he did just that. Rude opponent's be damned, he wasn't about to waste this trip to the astral realm. Besides, it sure beat returning to his abused body. That was a moment he was happy to put off for awhile while he enjoyed a breeze and a view. Oddly enough, the sky seemed to brighten up and he was able to watch the sun set on the horizon.

Not a bad life, after all.

The winged man smiled but didn't have time to enjoy his small victory. As soon as the namekian fell to the ground, he took the angel down with him. The green man shoot up onto his feel and flew a short distance away from his opponent. Uriel lifter himself as well, as he prepared for an attack. His adversary was throwing a hammer punch at him but he much too far away from the celestial. What was he thinking? Uriel found out as he knocked to the ground with tremendous force. The alien somehow extended his limbs far away from his body to strike the celestial, striking him hard to the ground.

Uriel was in a lot of pain but was mostly disappointed. Time and again he found warriors stronger than himself, whether evil or good. All the time in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, all the intense gravity training and we still came up short. He heard the Namekian beckoning him but before he could stand up to continue the fight, he felt himself fading away. Suddenly, he was back in the ship. The angel stood up quickly, astonished and and infuriated that something he ended their spar and there was nothing he do about it.

"Shit!" Uriel screamed in the air, while he smashed his hand through one of the kitchen tables. It broke it apart with a loud crash. "Ahh! Damnit" The winged man stood there standing, breathing heavily, not even trying one of his calming techniques. He would redeem himself, just like he did with Zyren and he would find out what happened with his gem. He went to his sleeping quarters, still fuming. Lying in bed, he finally calmed down. The spar was upsetting but friend was more important. Uriel needed to be at his best tomorrow. Finally, the angel was able to calm his mind and drift off into restless sleep. The fight weighed on his mind as he twisted and turned throughout the night.
