The sun crested the horizon in a dazzling display of majestic brilliance to reveal a floating humanoid, blonde hair covering a pair of mismatched eyes; one blue, one amber, who stood on the air as if it were solid ground. He had been flying moment's prior, but with the sunrise came the desire to stop, to simple relax and let go.

For the first time since he had arrived here in this Universe, he had been constantly on the run, either fighting, or recovering--sometimes battling before his injuries had healed. No, now that he was seeking to take a step back and help Zyren as much as possible as another way of paying the boy back for sharing his body, he had the time to think about it.

It was a sign he was growing accustomed in more than just the body, and now his mind and soul had the chance to rest and appreciate what he had.

Soul had been on the way to the Lookout for a variety of reasons, but just like he had thought a moment ago, the main reason was to help his Universal Counterpart. The smaller, more insignificant reasons could be to introduce himself as common courtesy to Kami or whoever was the Guardian, even if it had taken so long for the Hybrid to do so.

He would have come earlier, but his prior experience in his time was that Kami most likely wouldn't be able to fix both Zyren's and Soul's "broken" body, or more so; the Meridans and Ki Passageways! Before he had taken the chance and told Roshi, any time he attempted to use Ki--even in the tiniest amounts--would injure their body. That was because the passageways were a hybrid between this Universe's Ki-laws and his Universe's due to their sudden fusion.

How that happened was a story in itself, and even he didn't know the details...

Soul did bet that Zyren knew, but trying to ask his partner anything beyond "fight, food, or sleep" was nearly impossible since he was a stubborn mule.

While the timelines and people may be similar, the way that most fighters charged, created, and used Ki were fundamentally different. With their passageways partially correct and wrong, anytime either of them tried to use Ki, they suffered a backlash, and that wasn't including the backlash caused if Soul used a technique that wasn't born of this Universe.

One of his techniques.

So, he had gone to Roshi, and the short story was that his body had been deconstructed and rebuilt by extracting both of the Hybrid's souls and formed individually. Then, when that was complete, they were "deconstructed" enough that they could "Fuse" into one body; the result being was that this fusion was more complete, more logical. Instead of the risk of their passageways or meridans, or anything getting fudged...they simply had a "switch" of sorts built into their consciousnesses.

When one wanted to be in control, the switch flipped, causing a minute change in their body while their minds flipped. With that switch, everything different flipped, preventing harm or the risk of something happening.

Of course, it all sounded simple, but it wasn't--not in the slightest.

Instead, it felt like his skin was being flayed away, the veins purged with hellfire, every muscle torn and shredded; and all the bones shattered and ground into powder all at the same moment...except that it lasted nearly an hour. When that was over, Roshi constructed Zyren's body, and when that was complete, began to work on his.

That was where the real problem began.

Soul had forgotten one very important consequence of having Roshi perform the ancient and forbidden technique of Innate-Ki-Body-Restoration. The basis of the technique was to destroy the body was preserving the mind and soul, and rebuild the body by letting the mind and soul work in conjunction to make the "correct' body for it. One couldn't influence it in any way, such as wishing to be stronger, or faster, for the body was built to the "formation" of the soul.

The technique wasn't something to be made light of, because the slightest mistake on the master's part could cause a great many, very, very bad things to result. However, it was aimed to fix someone who couldn't be fixed by mundane, magicial, or Ki ways.

Basically...it caused the patient(s) innate power to burst forth and heal itself via the soul...but Soul had forgotten that his soul remembered the power that he had before he had been destroyed by Liqiur; the God of Destruction in his Universe, and saved by Zyren via the Astral Plane.

He nearly destroyed the island and would have obliterated everything within several thousand miles if something hadn't intervened...but as to what it was, Soul had to admit he didn't know. He did, however, know that whatever had intervened was strong, very strong--even considering his power before he had been reduced to barely anything to match Zyren.

There the Blonde stood in front of a green humanoid, a Namekian whole was covered in wringles and emanated an aura of ancientness--Kami. Off to the Elder's right was Mr. Popo, who was doing work around the tower but also listening to the explanation that the Hybrid had been giving to Kami for the last hour.

Of course, Soul wasn't stupid, and anything that his old master didn't need to know he left out. However, he knew that this gentle Soul could keep secrets, and was probably the best person to do so! So, the Hybrid was taking a gamble and telling them both the truth---albeit edited of course.

Kami tapped his staff to the ground, a seemingly inconspicuous action that could be born of the subconscious on the Elder's part, but Soul instantly stopped his conversation and looked at Kami, The look wasn't out of shock or anger, but one of respect, and he had reacted on instinct based on memories of his Universe.

The Namekian paused and narrowed his eyes a bit, but then his face lit up in a gentle smile.

"It seems that you aren't making this up, since both my watching over you since your arrival and the signs that you were my apprentice that just appeared moments ago, which nearly none of mine notice, or even care to notice. You, however...yes...I believe you now."

Soul nodded once, but stayed quiet, knowing that Sage wasn't done yet; the action earning him a grin that grew gentler on the Namekian's face before Kami continued; "Yes, I do believe that I believe you. However, you must know that even with my watchings, and the signs that you were my student...I can't take what you say at face value. There are numerous ways as to how you would know or perform the things you have done, and one of which could be memory possession, or more. I ask you let me examine your mind--"

Soul's atmosphere had been slightly jovial, borderline on impassive, but at the mention of peeking into his mind to glean the truth of things, he stiffened; the action instantly dissipating the previous aura and transforming it into one of icy coldness as the Hybrid cut his master off.

"With no disrespect, Elder, my mind is something that I've been very protective of, and I have my own reasons for being this way. I know what you say is logical, and that me doing this--acting like this--just makes it worse, trust me, I know.

"However...my mind is the only place that I have to fall back on, the last and final sanctuary. I wouldn't let my Soulmate into it, let alone anyone else, whether they be family, friend, teacher or foe. A mind is the only place that a man can rest easy, and fear that it never be disrupted with..."

Soul paused, shock lighting up in his eyes, and flushed.

Where had that come from?

The Blonde had no memories of his mind be tampered with, or even for his cause to be so stubborn and vehement about it, but it had shot out of his mouth before he had realized what he was saying. His body was shuddering, begging to either leave the tower or heavens no--punch Kami for even thinking about asking something that personal.

His mind was consumed in loathing, shivering, adamant about this, but that was the least of his worries.

No, the second he had realized what he had said was also the same moment that both Kami and Popo froze, and quickly following it was a stillness and silence that would have put statues to shame. It was then that Soul realized that he was in "fight" mode, very close to starting one because Kami had asked to read his mind.

It seemed trivial, yes, but everyone of them was shocked at the Hybrid's vehement, disrespectful cutoff--even Soul himself! Soul was probably the one that was shocked the most!

What did that mean? Did his soul remember dreadful things related to mind techniques, such as telepathy and things of the sort? If so...the sheer size of that signified that whatever had happened was bad, and Soul quickly coughed and took a deep breath.

"Apologies masters...I don't know where that came from...but I think that messing with my mind would be a bad idea..."

The other possibility could be that even with his memories stripped away, his soul remembered something inherient about his personality, his nature. Was he proud? Did he have secrets? It could be anything...or everything, but like he had thought of seconds ago, he himself didn't know the reason. The comment was ingrained like a muscle memory, or a secondary action such as breathing or blinking...

The Namekian elder once more intruded on his thoughts, and Soul could count on one hand the amount of times that he remembered--at lease with the amount of memories that he currently had anyway, of being somewhat hesitant in saying something. Soul couldn't blame him either, for Kami's worries weren't unfounded, but...it hurt all the same when the Namekian spoke at last; "Then Soul, if you truly are or were my student, then you know my answer. I cannot let you into the lookout until I know you aren't a threat, and since you won't let me into your mind, then...we are out of options. Leave now---"

Mr. Popo, silent as ever, actually interrupted Kami much to the surprise of both the Namekian and the Hybrid; "Kami, give the boy one chance, a single chance is what I ask, and if he fails...well, then I'll deal with him myself. You know that someone important is coming tomorrow, and I have a feeling that that someone can help resolve this."

Kami paused, glancing at Mr. Popo with amused surprise, then back to Soul as if studying him once more before nodding slightly. "Then I shall follow Mr. Popo's request and ask that you wait here until my guest arrives. If you pass his exam, if the need calls for it, and if I trust you...then we shall see. Go wait in the tower please, meditate if you want, but you can not leave the tower. You wanted my approval? Then you will work for it!"

With the sound of absolute certainty ringing true with the elder's words, the Guardian spun in place and slowly began to hobble back to the insides of the tower with the clack of his staff echoing every few moments. The Hybrid frowned, still not happy with how the situation had dissolved into...this, but he still had a chance, and he was grateful for that.

With a nod in Kami's direction, and an unsettling glance at Mr. Popo, he took a deep breath and slowly made his way to the tallest building in the lookout. There was no need to rush since the Hybrid was going to be spending all day and night at Korrin's tower, and with nothing better to do, performed a few jumps to get on top of the domed building.

Then, with every intention to clear his mind of absolutely everything and relax his body, he sat down and tried to meditate. It was hard at first, like it should be, but as the seconds transformed into minutes; followed by the minutes just trickling by, he noticed that he was starting to fall further and further into a trance--the very same that preceded meditation.

Soul struggled to not get excited, or feel any emotion other than satisfaction, and nearly failed as the rising emotions nearly knocked him out of the trance. Fortunately, he managed to shake them off, and in moments, the half-Saiyan successfully passed through the trance and directly into the meditative state that left him both oblivious to the outside world...and the world to him, unless someone specifically looked for him.
