As the introductory music faded away, a brightly flashing notice appeared on the screen for any watching, alerting them to the fact this was an emergency broadcast. From the studio room, Leena Roseheart smiled into the camera, hands clasped on the desk and a somber look in her eyes that made her smile seem slightly less genuine. “Tonight, I’m sadly to say, before we can get into the normal nightly broadcast, we must discuss a harrowing new situation coming out of the Kelioux Empire. The eponymous leading world within that system is suffering from a massive disturbance, in a still-developing situation. So as to avoid mass panic, we at the Galactic News Network will only discuss that which we know for sure, and for that I’ll switch now to our on-scene reporter, Jeffrey Hangler.”

There was a brief moment before they switched cameras to show a disheveled Jeffrey. Dressed in what had probably been a nice-looking suit when he landed, the human brushed some of the dust off his arms before looking back into the camera, and exclaiming, “Thank you, Leena! Now, as you can see,” he paused briefly, to allow his cameraman to pan around him and show the background of where they stood, “the Keliouxian Academy, home to what some have called perhaps the world’s premiere location for collecting and acquiring knowledge, has largely been destroyed.”
He paused for dramatic effect. The beautiful marble columns had been smashed to rubble, pooling out along the steps. Mass sections of the building looked as though they had earned new craters, and the ground around it had been overturned in a way that only resembled an intensive earthquake.

“There have been rumors of what explicitly happened, but the Academy has been tight-lipped, and we are not here to spread misinformation. As of now, all that has been officially announced by the Empire is that there are bounties on the heads of one celestial, Azrael...” a simulation of the fighter appeared by Jeffrey’s side, giving an extensive three hundred sixty degree visual representation, “...and Bulla Briefs, potentially apparent heir to the Capsule Corp dynasty.” Alongside Azrael, it showed also the human woman, with the same attention to detail. They danced along the screen as he continued talking.

“Once again, the government is refusing to announce anything else, so for now we can say nothing of how this will affect the Empire’s relationship with the interplanetary corporation, but I and my colleagues will give live updates as anything else unfolds.”

Jeffrey touched his right ear briefly, and nodded to himself, before turning to the camera and announcing that “in order to help bolster the recovery effort, there will be a 10% uptick on everything that is for sale on this world, of which 100% of that inflation will go to the relief effort. That is all for now. Thank you, and I bring you back to Leena in the studio. Good night for now!”

Before flicking back, it showed one last long angle of the ruins of The Academy. From where they stood, it would have been impossible to tell it apart from any other of the famous Lost ruins on that world if not for the frantic shuffling of some brave scholars, desperate to try and save the books within.

Leena, visibly shaken by the imagery, laid her hands flat onto the glass table in front of her to avoid the viewers seeing how they were trembling. “We’re going to go to a brief commercial break, but when we return, we’ll discuss the potential food shortage going on in Mortoseth.” A tight-lipped smile, and she faded to black.
