The Fabled Ice Staff
Entry into the Ice Temple is impossible unless you wield the legendary Ice Staff. The Ice Staff cannot be found, but must be created from the Inferno Rod using a special gem called the Frost Ruby. Frost Ruby's are extremely rare and are only found in the deepest recesses of the planet. Find one and create an Ice Staff to gain access to the Ice Temple.

Leaving the Fire Temple felt like it had been a long time coming. Brianne had been struggling with the fire realm that she had been locked in for some time, but eventually she overcame it. She felt the fire that had once threatened to consume her was now part of her very essence. The Magical Girl of Love was now feeling like she could accomplish almost anything. Truthfully, she knew she was still not at her peak of capability, but she was going to get there eventually. Gaining this burning fire within her was now only going to motivate her to do more and more to progress herself. It had reenergized her love.
She was ready to go and jump right back to work in spreading love and was about to go to Avalon to start her joining of the Protectorate, but then she recalled the deal she made with her friend. The Magical Girl was given the Inferno Rod so she could acquire this power, but the price for getting that entry was that she needed to go and acquire an item for her friend. It was said to be on the ice world of Pefu. That was all she really knew about where she was going, but she did know that she couldn’t go back on her deal. It wasn’t just that it was for a friend, but it was also just the right thing to do. The Maiden of Love would have done this part of a deal for even someone she didn’t think was a friend if that was part of the deal they made. Only bad people made deals and didn’t follow through on them.
She had to take out a map of the Universe to figure out which way to try to sense this world and after seeing where it was she turned from the fire temple entrance and began to expand her senses out to the far reaches of the Universe. It was hard to locate this world as it lacked many life forms, but after a few moments she felt out the love of the few that existed on this world. They seemed to have a group gathered together, that would be a great place for her to go to since she already knew that this location didn’t have many options to choose from. Hopefully one of them would be able to help her on her quest to acquire this Frost Ruby. When all she had was a name of the item and a world’s name, she didn’t have much to go on. In the end she just hoped that this would be just another stop in her lovely adventure.
Focusing only on what little bit of love she could find the Magical Girl instantly transported herself to the ice world of Pefu. Not just to the world though, but to the middle of a small encampment of those she assumed to be citizens of this world. Immediately as she popped in the cold settled in, consuming her almost as much as the entrance of the Fire Temple had before. With a magical motion of her hands though her clothes suddenly turned into a much heavier and weather appropriate attire. It was a little encumbering to be wearing such heavy and warm clothes, but she was clearly in need of that here.
The cold was only the first problem that she had though. The second was the group that was camped up here. As they popped out from their huts it was obvious that she had arrived in the middle of a Planet Trade Organization Encampment on this world. The total was ten Changelings that arrived and the love that she had felt from a distance was more revealed as a lust for power. At a distance they oftentimes felt similar, but close up she knew right away that this was much different. This was nearing the lust for power that came from the evilest rulers she had ever come across. These mortals were not corrupted by her mortal enemies, but they were close to as bad. They only loved self and expanding their own desires which made them hard to deal with. This was mostly an issue though, because they always found ways to acquire the power that they desired so much. She knew ten of them would be a major problem even if they didn’t have the highest energy power signatures that she had felt. The number game was going to be a serious problem if this interaction turned hostile. She just knew she could not let that happen if she wanted to accomplish her mission on this world. The girl needed a Frost Ruby and that was all. In her mind it was only logical that she could get past this little obstacle and move along on her task here.
The Changelings exited their huts, many talking amongst themselves as they moved around her like a pack of wolves circling their prey. The Magical Girl could hear the words of the bad men talking very inappropriately about her and assuming she was a gift sent from Lord Frost for their amusement. She knew right away that they didn’t have any good intentions and actually had very perverted minds. It was in many ways offensive to hear the way they were talking, but the young maiden knew how to deal with this type of crude behavior. She had dealt with people like this many times before in her life. They did always seem to think that just because she was a Magical Girl of Love that she was almost a succubus of sorts. Brianne was nothing like that at all and hated the assumptions like this she had thrusted upon her.
”Hello denizens of this frozen world.” She decided to greet them kindly and her happy and cheery voice seemed to catch them off guard, ”I know it is kind of rude to just show up in the middle of your camp, but I was looking for something on this world. My name is Brianne de Chateau and I am here looking for an item known as a Frost Ruby. Can any of you help me find the location of such an item. It would make my stay on this world so much easier and I would be out of your hair in no time at all. It would be almost like I was never here in the first place after I go.”
The Changelings looked at one another in surprise at what had just been spoken by the girl. Clearly, she didn’t know who she was talking to and she seemed completely out of place here. As the murmurs from the group began once more before one specific Changeling stepped forward. She could tell right away that he was the strongest of this group and by how they all stopped as he stepped forward it seemed to also be the leader. The Changeling tilted his head looking at the girl, ”I am not sure that you understand the situation you are in little girl. We are trained killers for the glorious and all-powerful Planet Trade Organization. We are not guides or citizens of this world. We are enforcers of this world. If you are here for anything it will now be for our amusement. I know I can think of plenty things to do to a pretty little girl like yourself. So, give me one good reason why I shouldn’t just take what I want.”
Brianne looked at the man and shook her head. She already knew the answer to his question was simply because he couldn’t, but she really needed information from them and tracking down even more people would only end up taking her more time. She truly didn’t like being in the cold like this and so that was certainly not a good option for her. The magical girl wanted to get on to Avalon and see what trials the Avalon Protectorate had for her. After the Invasion she wanted to join them and help them, now she was simply longing for the chance to do so. Her status now had increased and so had her power, they would accept her now as they did then and with their training she would grow even more in power and skill. That was her goal and the more she grew the more love she could spread across this Universe.
Brianne eventually snapped out of her sidetracked mind and spoke up, ”Well I can tell you that I am not just a little defenseless girl.” She looked around at each and every one of the Changelings that were surrounding her still, ”I am even stronger than everyone that is here in your little group.” The Changelings began to laugh at the assertion that she was actually stronger than all of them not being able to sense to tell her real strength, ”So I just want you to give up the information I need willingly so that we can avoid any conflict. I have for certain been through enough of that lately and really would like a little bit of a break from fighting if I could. In the end, the easier you are in giving up the information, the easier this is on all of us. It is a win win situation for both of us. I hope you can see that and trust me that I mean you all no harm at all.”
The other Changelings looked back at the one who spoke up before as he stepped forward towards the Magical Girl of Love, ”Fine, if you think yourself that capable, then I think we make a deal. The two of us battle and the one who wins will get what they want. We fight until the other fighter surrenders or is knocked completely unconscious, but not to the death. If you win, then I will tell you where to go to get this Frost Ruby you seek. If I win, then you will stay here and be our slave. You will be required to do anything, and I mean anything that we order you to do. Do we have a deal?”
The sick and perverse look in his eyes along with the eyes of the others let her know right away that all of them had very grotesque thoughts in their minds. They were already planning on taking advantage of her, but at least if she accepted this challenge then she would only have to fight one of them and not the entire encampment. That was going to make things so much easier on her and she knew it. All she was going to have to do was take out this one bad guy and things would be easier on her from there. Her deal with Bulma required that she complete this task and she wasn’t going to fail at that mission.
The Magical Girl of Love moved herself into a fighting stance, ”I accept your challenge and look forward to seeing what you can do. I’ll even let you make the first move.” The last part of what she had to say was a trap. She had shifted her stance slightly into the tiger claw, but her specific variation of the stance made it hard for her opponent to notice it; even if he knew of the style already.
The encampment hooted and hollered as the challenge was accepted, moving to surround them more to give them a clear fighting area. As they finished the leader charged in towards the Magical Girl of Love. He was faster than she expected, but not nearly fast enough. Even without her defensive posture she would have been able to avoid the attack, but with it; well that was easy for her. She side stepped ever so slighting, ramming the back open palm into his midsection as he got next to her, the full force driving the air directly out of his body. The noise all stopped as they saw this, amazed at what they had just seen from the girl that they had assumed was just a slave that was out of line and fighting foolishly.
The Changeling gathered himself, gripping his midsection, his eyes were full of rage now. She could feel his energy grow, but his power was not controlled. He had no chance against her even in her base form like this. Brianne handled his next flurry of blows without much effort at all. His last blow was the most violent and out of control of the entire set and it left him open once more. This time she feinted a trip, falling backwards, but ramming her feet into his body and launching him into the air. A quick teleport and a smashing blow later and he was buried face first into the ground in front of all of his friends.
The Magical Girl of Love landed with grace as he tried to pick himself up to the amazement of his friends and cohorts, ”You should give up, before something much worse happens. I don’t really want to hurt you. I just want information and your deal said you would give it if you lost.”
The Changeling leader slowly got up, his crew all stunned in amazement with the ease at which the girl had handled their leader so far. Even Brianne was actually amazed at herself. The training in the Fire Temple had done much more than she knew for herself. She actually knew as she was feeling herself outside of that place and how easily things felt to her like she could have taken on this entire clan at once if needed and without even needing to transform. She would have never imagined it would have been this productive for her to go through all of this training. It was possible that her raw strength was even more now than it had been with just the power of love in her Universe. She was overall more powerful with all the love energy inside of her, but her strength was beyond her own imagination now. The fact that she also hadn’t unlocked all the love power to further transform herself only meant she was still far from a completed project. Still, now she was truly better than she ever had thought possible.
Brianne held her hand out palm first a blue sphere of energy she had learned from her friend Jutters growing in front of her grip, ”This fight is over, I don’t want to actually finish it. Just tell me what I need to know and I will be off and you will still be healthy after all of this.”
”I will never surrender to a girl like you. The Planet Trade Organization will never surrender to someone like you. I MEAN NEVER!!!” He shouted, rage building more and more before he spoke again, ”Boys let’s get her, no more holding back!!!”
His words set off his allies who rushed the girl, but one by one she danced within their attacks striking at them when needed and breaking them down with relative ease. Her strikes were precise and with each one of them that landed a Changeling resident of this world fell to his knees. The distraction of the others was enough that the leader finally got in position and lashed out grabbing her from behind and gripping her tightly, ”GOT YOU. NOW YOU WILL SURRENDER!”
As he shouted, Brianne shifted slightly, using a technique King Vegeta had shown them and crashed the point of her Elbow into his gut to create room and throw him into one of his friends. The leader slowly got to his knees, ”How are you so strong?”
Brianne smiled at the question walking up to him and placing a hand on his neck, ”I guess I held back a little. My name is Master of Love, Brianne de Chateau. Licensed Master of Universe 7 and Magical Girl of Love. Truthfully, you never had a chance against me. Now if you could be so kind, please tell me what I need to know so that I can be on my way? I don’t wish to cause any more pain.”
The Changeling realized her hand was now glowing with power against his neck and she could have easily finished him off completely if she so desired. He sighed, ”The Frost Ruby’s are in the Crystal Cave 10 Miles south of here. You will have to get one from the Guardians though and that is no easy task for most.” He realized just how easy he had been beaten as he said that though and nodded at the girl with respect now, ”For you though, it should be no problem.”
Brianne smiled at the man, ”Thank you.” She lifted her hand slightly away form his neck as the energy subsided as well. The entire encampment was knocked out but the two of them now and she shrugged at the man, ”You can tell your friends you didn’t surrender and I just left… when you all wake up.” Not wanting any more problems from them she chopped down at his neck striking directly at the nerves and putting him to sleep on impact. He was going to be out of the equation now and when he woke up, she would be long gone from this extremely cold world.
The Maiden of Love took off south after dealing with the problem the group possessed for her. She didn’t have many reasons to stay on this world, but she was still interested in a few things about it. Really it was hard to know exactly what this place had to offer at this point for her. The Magical Girl could feel that something more was happening on this world, but the power she couldn’t pinpoint. It was a number of powerful beings that were here as well and a few mysterious energies she was picking up that caused her to not truly know what was going to happen next. All she knew was she had to get a Frost Ruby to fulfill her deal with Bulma and then head on to Avalon to learn from the Protectorate.
It was almost surprising to her that she arrived to a Cavern as described by the Changeling. She had almost expected him to have lied to her, but that wasn’t the case. She was at her destination in no time at all. It was a good thing indeed for her. The cold radiated out of this place even more than the rest of the planet. She felt like it was similar to the area near the fire temple. This place was likely also the cave that lead to the Ice Temple. The chills just made it feel all too familiar to her for that not to be the case.
She entered cautiously, remembering the words about the Guardians of the Cave and the threat that they likely purposed for her. Brianne didn’t know exactly what to expect from them, but if it meant she had to face one to get the ruby than she would do exactly that. She was confident that she would find a way, especially if the Changeling said she would be more than capable of dealing with this threat. Still the lingering feeling that things were going to turn bad for her didn’t go away easily at all. She just felt like it wasn’t going to be nearly as easy as the Changeling made it out to be. Sending her here could have easily just been a way for him to get payback for the embarrassment she had put him through in battle.
As she made it further into the cavern, she finally found a glowing ruby. By the picture that she had been given from Bulma, it was what she was looking for. Cautiously she walked forward until she got almost within reach of the ruby and then suddenly to Ice Formed Constructs emerged from the ground and got right into her path. Brianne naturally backed away, ”I just need that ruby and I’ll be on my way. No reason for anything bad to happen between us. I promise I’ll use it for good.”
The Guardians didn’t move, but the voice echoed throughout the cavern, ”You have to pass the trial of ice to reach the ruby.” Just as they said that a burst of cold air sent her flying away from them. The gusts increased even more holding her back even as the Magical Girl tried to find a way to move forward. It was as intense as the highest gravity she had felt, but pushing right into her.
Brianne gritted her teeth, knowing she had to get to the ruby to achieve her objective and fulfil her deal with Bulma. She began walking into the pressure, but the closer she got the harder it was to move. It was too intense to navigate after awhile and she was still a long way from her goal. It was not looking like this was going to happen at all if she didn’t come up with a way around this artic blast. The chill began to overtake her as well as her clothes were freezing over and she could feel her internal body temperature dropping. The Cavern was threatening to freeze her in place and end her journey once and for all at this point. If she didn’t have an answer for this quickly then she had no chance of survival.
That was when it clicked in her mind. She ignited her body with radiated flames from the fire temple becoming almost a living embodiment of fire and the frost faded away. She moved closer and closer, but even the flames were freezing after a few more steps. Brianne could see an opening though between the two guardians and the shape looked familiar to her. It was the solution to the problem. She sent her flames raging out once more to give herself some mobility and as she did her hand opened and suddenly the Inferno Rod manifested itself in her grip. She wasn’t proficient with fighting with such a weapon and it felt foreign to her in combat, but she knew what powers this item possessed and she could use them.
The flames from the Rod jolted out as she extended it clearing the frost from around her and pushing back against the icy blast coming at her. Flicking her wrist, the staff made it through the gap between the two guardians and slapped the ruby into the air. Suddenly the blast of cold stopped and the two guardians turned to snatch the ruby before it got to her.
Brianne was free from the cold blast though and moved instantly grabbing it away from them and barley avoiding being grabbed herself. She landed where she was standing, holding the ruby and the rod; one in each hand. The instructions she had was the merge them both, so she pushed them together feeling the magic between them and suddenly a burst of powerful energy radiated throughout the cavern.
The light was blinding, but when it cleared, she was standing in the Cavern alone, the Guardians merging back to the ground and her holding on to a new staff. What it could do, she didn’t know for sure, but it was likely the key to the Ice Temple, just as the Inferno Rod was to the Fire Temple. She knew this was what Bulma wanted and she had succeeded in getting it for her. It was not just time to head to Avalon and turn in her item to her friend. That was going to be exactly the reward she needed after these last few weeks. She would be rid of the Rod and free from the temples. The power within her still growing and only the future before her now.
