Joseph stood with in a rocky field that lied beyond the borders of West City. He trended over the hard terrain looking around at the canyon's and mountains that were spread through the area. It was a barren a land that people or animals did not tend to trend. The air gave off a dry warmth, with occasional that Joseph could feel breezing by him as he walked.
People and animals did not usually trend these hands due to the nature of field. The hardness of the ground and the drought within the vast field meant that it would be quite unlikely to support plant life. The lonely nature of the land was something the young martial artist intended to capitalize on. No people, no animals, no construction meant that the child could exploit the area to test his skills freely.
Joseph swung his arms and performed some stretches as walked over to a boulder. Once he was within arms length of the boulder stopped, cocked a hand back as he watched and scrutinized it before throwing his fist forward, upon contact his knuckles dug into the boulder and it had cracks appear all around it before crumbled and shattered into many small pieces.

It had been awhile.
He could sense him in the distance, not too far from where he was. He was strong, very strong. A lot stronger than he had remembered him being. Deep down Goku was happy for his friend. Scratch that, his best friend. Though he was a little jealous due to his lax lifestyle with his adoptive mother causing him to slip in power dramatically. Still, he had time to get stronger and to catch up.
Goku had nothing but time.
He stalked him from a distance, being sure to stick as low to the ground as possible. His tail was concealed within the foliage and he crawled on all fours like a predator prepared to pounce upon their prey.
Beyond the veil of shrubbery was a clearing where Joseph stood - devoid of plant and animal life. He watched as his friend approached a large boulder and rammed his fist into it, shattering it into tiny pieces of sediment. Afterwards Goku would jump out and reappear directly in front of Joseph with his tongue out. A cheeky gesture to surprise him.
"Hi! I missed you!" He went in for a brief, albeit intimate hug as he wrapped his arms around Joseph's shoulders and immediately took a step back to give him a once over.
"Wow, you're so strong now! I'm really jealous," Goku exclaimed excitedly. Joseph even looked stronger too. Maybe he could teach him a thing or two.

The Demi-Earthling had nearly jumped back when Goku had appeared in front of him in the midst of the dust in the wake of Joseph striking the boulder before he found himself zealously embraced and spun around. He couldn't help but smile and hug back, though that tended to be a rarity outside his relatives and Karen, though Goku was an exception.
"I missed you too." Joseph said. "Where have you been?" Joseph had wondered where his friend had gone. The Demi-Earthling found himself looking for Goku from time to time but couldn't quite figure out where he was. And when adventuring about he found himself thinking of his friend. Joseph noticed that Goku's aura was weaker than it was before, significantly so.
This surprised the Demi-Earthling as when they met Goku had roughly a third of Joseph's power the time they met. Now he was weaker than Barkley while she was still roughly around his age. "Yeah, I've kept training, and I've had a lot of fights lately." Joseph explained. "What about you, are you suppressing now?"

Joseph hugged Goku back, and it was a good feeling to know that in spite of the amount of time that they had spent apart, they were still as close as friends as one could ever ask.
"I've been..." Goku took a moment to think. Yes, he had been doing chores around the village with his adoptive mother. Working the fields, fetching groceries in the city, and the like. But before that, well, he might have gotten himself into some trouble.
"I've been okay!" He finally said with a smile. "I did get into a little bit of trouble though...." Goku said sheepishly. He reminisced on the time that he was found by his adoptive mother in tatters. His memory was fuzzy at the time but he did recall that afterwards he never felt as powerful again as he was before.
"Oh you kept fighting! I'm so jealous!" Goku exclaimed. His mother didn't like it when he fought but unfortunately, he didn't have much of a choice lately. She was all over him lately ever since he met the venerable Master Roshi. He could sense that she was afraid of him leaving, but ever since he hung out with Android 18, EP-3, and Cauli, he wanted to explore the world of Martial Arts once more.
"I'm not suppressing, I'm just really weak right now," Goku said gloomily. "I don't know what happened exactly, but I was attacked and when I was saved by my mom I noticed that I was a lot weaker...." His voice trailed off a tad as he was quite somber about it but he then immediately perked back up. "But I'll catch up to you in no time!" He declared.
"Master Roshi is training me so it won't be long!" He added with a wide grin.

Joseph expression was shifted to one of surprise at Goku's statement. "Sorry to hear that, That's strange." Joseph said observing Goku's explaination. "Saiyan usually get stronger when they lose a fight. Its a genetic thing called Zenaki."Joseph couldn't imagine going through such a great regression. Goku was now at around a tenth of where he was before. He wondered who or what could have caused him to lose so much of his strength, he'd have to look into that eventually. "At least you're safe."
The boy admired rhw conviction Goku showed in declaring that he would catch up in no time, though that seemed like he was aways from achieving that before having his power reduced, but he didn't necessarily doubt his friend. "Oh, you're training with Roshi now? Cool, I had always wanted to take you to meet him before you disappeared. How has he been? I'm sure you've learned a lot from him.

Goku appeared to contemplate Joseph's words when he mentioned zenkai. Did he normally get much stronger after losing a battle? It was hard for him to tell. What he did know was that he enjoyed battling far more than anyone he had ever met, even other Saiyans like Cauli or Joseph. It made him wonder if he was even abnormal by comparison to the "average" Saiyan. Well, perhaps "wonder" was too strong of a term as he never had been the contemplative type. It was just an observation he made that he believed to be true.
"He's been great! Just plain ol' Roshi I guess," He laughed sheepishly. Roshi seemed to have always been concerned with Goku bringing back a "bombshell" as he called them than his training more or less. But after he brought Cauli back to the island the Turtle Hermit had been extremely receptive to training them both.
"But after I introduced him to one of my new friends he's been really eager to train us both! You should come play with us sometime!" Goku urged. Having his two close friends with him would be really fun at the very least.

When Goku mentioned that Roshi had been doing well just being "plain ole Roshi," Joseph nodded. He was happy to hear the master had been doing well, it seemed he was doing well to keep himself busy training students and seeking out "bombshells." He was curious about the new students Roshi had been treating, Cauli sounded like a woman Saiyan name. He wondered how strong she was.
"That would be fun, how strong is she?" Joseph didn't know too many other Saiyans outside of relatives. Plus he was curious to meet other fighters and seeing what they could do. Usually when he met someone he was far stronger than they were, or they were far stronger than him. He knew few people who were relatively close to his strength. The Demi-Earthling leaned against the side of a mountain under its shade.

Goku thought for a moment. When he measured up Cauli he sensed that he could have taken her if he really wanted to. Maybe it would take some mild effort, or perhaps even more than that. It would be an exciting battle and he wanted to one day test her in combat and have fun with her. Unfortunately, that might not be until later on down the road. Still, it was something that he couldn't wait for and it made him very....feverish.
"She is around my power level now, but she has the potential to be very strong!" Goku elated. He sensed that he held incredible power and he wanted to fight her at her best one day. Similar to how he felt about fighting Joseph, although to a lesser extent. When it came to Joseph, the prospect of combat with him would bring unbelievable and unbridled ectasy. It was an event that should only be done while they were at their best. At least, perhaps one day when he caught up to him.
"How about you? Do you have any other strong friends?" Goku asked inquisitively.

Hearing that Cauli was around Goku's power level was information that didn't surprise him. The average Saiyan had a power level at four to five digits to their power level, though he also didn't doubt she had the potential to be quite strong. Anyone had that sort of potential.
When Goku asked if he had any other strong friends, Joseph looked down and cupped his chin in his hand as he thought about it. The child thought of the number of strong people he had met like Hayami, Garou, and Brianne, though he was sure about the first two, they had a cordial enough relationship, though he wasn't sure if that constituted friendship.
He didn't doubt that he and Brianne were friends, though because whenever they met and spoke to each other she called him friend. Joseph went on to search him memory for others that called him friend. There was EP-3 as well. "Well, I'm friends with someone in the Master's guild. She was as strong as me when we met, though I'm not sure how we match up now, but she's a really good fighter. And I'm friends with a Paladin Android named EP-3. She was stronger than me when we met, but my power surpassed hers. I wouldn't say she's weak but she's...squishy, not really made to fight. She got really hurt and even lost an arm when we spared." Joseph said it all in a matter of fact fashion, though he didn't really like thinking about that sparring session, though EP-3 wasn't upset about it the Demi-Earthling was still plighted by a lingering feeling of guilt over injuring her so greatly.

When Joseph described EP-3 to him, Goku's face lit up. He knew who she was as well, but he didn't know that she was a Paladin. What was a Paladin? It sounded really important. Kind of like a knight, which was something he read in books that his mother gave him. But Joseph telling him about the Master's Guild, another group that he didn't know that existed, made him realize how vast the Universe was and how small Earth was, as well as the bubble of influence that he was stuck in.
Goku couldn't help but chuckle a little when Joseph called EP-3 "squishy." Perhaps laughing was a tad bit crude considering Joseph's disposition, but the Saiyan boy thought about how soft her bosoms were when he hugged her, as well as how soft and sensual her touch was. No wonder why Master Roshi liked to cuddle and hug her in bed to help him to go to sleep, she was extremely soft like a pillow!
Though, the thought of her losing an arm was surprising but at least she was an android, which meant that she could pull herself back together. If she was a human, then it would have been fatal.
"She is pretty soft huh," Goku brought his hands up and motioned at his chest, mimicking the shape of EP-3's bosom and grinned. However, after he made his (somewhat) harmless joke, he reassured Joseph that it wasn't his fault by patting him on his shoulder.
"It's okay! She's a lot tougher than she looks!" He reassured him. After giving his best friend another friendly pat on the shoulder he turned to face the horizon and blurted out, "I want to leave Earth."
