Once the story had come to an end, Rufus had to wipe a tear of his away. He let out a shudder, trying to come back to his senses after taking all of that in. "And now.. you're here. With us." After all of the struggles that she had gone through, all of the strife, she was still on the other side and able to fight, even if it was not with a full smile just yet. Rufus.. he felt this dire need to change that. "Here.. I couldn't even remember you, truth be told. But with my memories back, being able to appreciate what you are to me.."
He smiled softly. "I'm so happy to have my little girl back in my life." Rufus didn't even skip a beat, rising up from the chair and moving to his daughter before wrapping his arms around her. "You must have been trying your hardest to stay whole.. but it's going to be okay. I promise, it's going to be okay.." He hugged onto her just a bit tighter. "If you stay here, I promise you that it will be a better life.. you were made to come here for a reason."
He grinned. "Here, we'll make things right."
As she finished telling her story, she could already see the tears welling in their eyes. They not only heard about their own deaths, but how their children were handled during this horrific event. While some died, others were made to suffer. Koichi was killed before her very eyes. Akari appeared to have died beside Kai, only to be forced back as a Thrall and used by the very men that wanted this world for themselves. Everyone else was there with Elena, trying to help keep her whole, but near the end of it...
They all died before she did.
Noel, Lysander, Hiroto, Tarble.
She took in a deep breath as arms moved around her body by her da that rose from his chair. Those tears had stained down her reddened tan cheeks, while her arms wound about his middle. Her face burrowed into his chest as those comforting words hit her ears, that his little girl was back in his life and everything in this timeline could be fine again. "I know you aren't my blood parent, but that doesn't stop you... from being my father. You mean just as much to me as my dad.." Her voice broke again as she inhaled a small sob. "So when you threw me overboard and I saw you die in the process of saving me, I..."
Teary crimsons lifted as she gritted her teeth. "It never left my mind. It's been plaguing my sleep ever since. So seeing you again now..." Despite the sobs that bubbled from her lips, a tiny smile began to rise, "I'm so happy..."
Rufus stroked at his daughter's hair, letting his digits run through her strands as he closed his eyes. The words that reached his ears, those that detailed that he was thought of as close to her as her father.. "I'm just as happy to have you back, Ellie. You.. when I found out you were never going to be in this world, I grieved for you as if I had seen you die right in front of me. And yet now, now.. now you're here." His arms weaved tighter around her as he tried his best to keep his composure.
He sighed out. "But.. now what? You're here, you've.. changed, but you probably want to see the world for what it is. A society that actually functions!" There was so much that they had to do, so much that they had to see. There were so many questions swirling around inside of his head-- he was sure that the opposite had to be true but doubly so! So now it begged the golden question: what would they do now that Elena was back in this world? What would they do now that she was in a proper timeline.. and what would she want to see?
A hand ran through her hair in a comforting motion, those crimson eyes drifting to a close as she burrowed into her da's chest. He was happy to know how she felt about him, because he had always been the same way. And now, they could be together again, when she was supposed to be dead in this timeline. A gentle sigh left past her lips as her tears dried and she lifted her gaze to meet with Rufus' in that moment. He was curious what all she'd want to see or do, considering the vast contraction between the worlds that they lived.
But first, she had a burning question.
Before she questioned it, she felt it due to the closeness they had. A gentle smile found her, a relieved sigh leaving her. "Koichi is... connected to you? I heard about dad... thank goodness." The others in the room couldn't help but to smile at the moment of positivity that Elena had. Taking in a breath of air, she let her gaze find the man's again. "Da, there's something I've been wanting to ask you since... the day I lost you all." Her brows knitted together softly then. "Did you all.. regret saving Noel and I that night? Knowing that we'd be left in a world like that, regardless of knowing that... I'd somehow be brought here, did you?" While it wasn't the same Rufus... they still had the same thought processes. And now that he had context of what happened, he'd surely know how to respond.
She knew the topic was somewhat sensitive with how Akito and Don tightened their hands with one another, after hearing about both Akari and Kai and how Eizen's gaze lowered to the floor, as if he was wondering the same answer. Eizen... did save her life too, so she wouldn't have minded if he answered too.
She asked about 'Koichi' being connected to him. He was confused for a moment, only to remember the child tethered to his ki. Right.. right. "Yes, he is connected to me. He's safe and sound." The pirate gave a grin to the demoness, only for more questions to come down. He was asked about regrets, and.. he had to think about it. "I'm.. not the Rufus of your timeline. So I don't know if my answer's going to be good enough for you or if it's what you're going to want to hear. So I'll be honest."
He still smiled down at her. "When I think of my crew here, I think about how I'd give up my life to make sure all of them were safe. That goes double for my family. Yamato, Eizen, Koichi.. all of them, I'd push myself beyond the boundaries of my body if it meant I could save even one of them." A chuckle reached his lips. "It looks like I've found living proof that I could succeed in doing that if I really put my mind to it. Just like your Rufus, I wouldn't have regretted it even slightly."
Rufus admitted that he wasn't the same Rufus of her timeline, causing her to nod, because she knew that much. Yet hearing his words, that he wouldn't have regretted it, because he'd sacrifice his all for the sake of his family and crew to survive, it made those tears well in her eyes once more. "You both aren't the same, yet.. I do believe he'd say the same thing." A gentle smile found her then, her grip somewhat tightening on the pirate as she let out a small sigh, one of relief in finally getting everything out.
"I think... he'd have been happy too, knowing that I escaped that world and found you all again." A small flush found her face then as she looked between them. "You're all so strong... much stronger than in my timeline. Not that you were weak, but.. there's a stark difference. It brings... me hope about staying here." Hope, because she would have feared being in another timeline that could fall to ruin.
Crimson eyes met with violet-red again, her head tilting as she felt her mood getting a bit more... lighter. "I'd like to see more of the world. I've been... in an apocalyptic world for so long, I'd love to be able to see everything and everyone. But most of all, I..." That blush darkened a bit as her grip tightened on Rufus' sleeves. "I wanna.. be close with you, if that's okay..."
