Backstory:
Captain Candeth Martine was a pilot and researcher for the United Earth Space Exploration Corps. The UESEC is a joint venture between Earth military departments and private space-transportation corporations with the goal of furthering the understanding of deep space. Captain Martine had previously served in the Earth military’s Marine Corps followed by the naval air force before retiring from military service at age 27. He joined UESEC the following year and became a member of their expeditionary team.
Three years later he was sent on a mission to collect atmosphere and soil samples on a planet outside of protectorate space. While on the world the team was ambushed by a gang of alien pirates and captured. Candeth and his comrades were then sold to another alien race, the Yilani, who placed the humans in stasis and transported them to an unknown location.
After being awakened, Captain Martine was subjected to years of inhumane experiments at the hands of the Yilani. They scarred his body beyond recognition and broke his mind into fragments that they reconstructed into multiple compartmentalized personalities. His genetic code was altered and spliced with a Yilani, a process that killed both of the participants. However, Martine was able to be revived. The resulting being could no longer be called human. Martine became more monster than man. A genetic host abomination implanted with a parasitic Yilani consciousness.
It was revealed that the Yilani had created this hybrid to act as their slave warrior. A pod of their race had rebelled against the will of their overmind. By severing their connection to the singularity the rebels could no longer be brought under control by the other Yilani. However, a being from this physical dimension would be able to kill them, thus sending the wayward servitors back to the void where they could be reclaimed.
The puppet Martine was trained by his Yilani masters until he surpassed their capability as combat instructors. In order to become a more efficient reclaimer, Martine was sent to seek out training from masters within his own dimension to become stronger. For the first time in almost five years, Martine set foot outside of his dungeon to begin a new journey.

Physical description: 5 foot 10 inches tall. 130 pounds in weight. Martine retains a primarily humanoid appearance despite his intense augmentation. His human skin is almost entirely scar tissue with portions of his body being made up of Yilani flesh with a dark purplish hue. These areas look like deep bruises however they are not injuries nor are they more sensitive than the human areas of his body. His outer ear cartilage has been surgically removed leaving only an opening to his ear canal, however his hearing remains intact. Likewise, his other facial features have also been surgically removed. Despite this he has maintained all of his human senses. In place of a face, the Yilani grafted an artificial mask onto his head. The mask is made of a biological substance harder than skin but not as dense as bone. It is connected to his neural network, allowing him to feel his face but he cannot show emotional expressions. The Yilani naively believed this would allow him to blend in with other normal looking beings.
Sample Roleplay:
A flash of light. Brilliant and blinding white. It filled every corner of vision behind his closed eyes. This is how Martine was awakened from sleep by his masters. If one could call it sleep. It had been ages since the former human had felt the relief of a good night’s rest. Martine’s mind was pulled from unconsciousness. He knew that this could only mean his master was present. The light was not from a source in the room. No true light source had ever been that bright in all of his years in the Yilani compound. Sure enough, he opened his eyes to see the barren dark walls of the cell he now calls home. Luminescent crystals installed into the corners of the room give off a soft glow, barely enough to see the door at the opposite end of the tiny room. The Yilani had no need for light but they had learned their servitors required it to function properly. Generosity was not in their nature so the bare minimum was all he was provided.
“Attention: Puppet,” his master’s voice entered his mind. Another flash of light. When his sight slowly returned to normal Martine saw the hulking form of the Yilani entering the doorway. Master hovered silently into the cell. Metal clanged as the two plates that made up the cell door closed behind the creature.
“Report: Puppet is improving. Performance: Satisfactory,” the words echoed within his head. Somehow the voice sounded distant yet so uncomfortably close. “Report: subversive targets observed. Location: Classified. Status: Puppet is not ready.”
The last statement rippled with displeasure. Puppet trembled. He knew that tone and the pain that usually came afterwards. Master saw his puppet’s reaction.
“Command: Do not worry. Master loves Puppet,” the voice reassured him. Master did not love him. Yilani did not comprehend the concept of love. When they had scoured his mind they learned that this word was one that humans enjoyed hearing. It soothed them. It was connected to pleasant memories. Master used it as a way of telling Puppet that his behavior was acceptable. A mockery of meaning. A perversion of emotion. Not that Martine could tell the difference anymore. Any memory of true love had long since faded away.
“Directive: enhance Puppet. Method: superior instruction. Location: Planet Kelioux.”
Puppet did not know what that was. However, he dared not look up at his master. The Yilani towered over him. The alien’s mask staring down at him with it’s cruel permanent false smile. Suddenly pain washed over his mind. Excruciating agony. It was as if sewing needles were being twisted around inside his brain cavity. Another voice began screaming from far away. Martine could barely hear it. As the pain subsided he felt his body release it’s tension. His mouth closed. Was that him screaming? No matter.
“Reason: preemptive. Puppet will be leaving facility. Puppet will be observed. Misconduct is subversive. Escape is subversive. Result: severe correction. Command: Master is classified. Home is classified. Directive is classified.”
The Yilani construct within Martine’s mind wriggled with pleasure at the attention from Master. The words were like music to it. On the other hand, Martine went cold with fear. He would be leaving this place. This horrible place. Yet he wasn’t sure if he wanted to. What would he do once he was outside? What was out there? What if he upset Master and he was exterminated or worse - reeducated.
“Command: Do not worry. Master loves Puppet,” the Yilani repeated. “Command: Observe. Impersonate. Assimilate. Improve. Return. Do not fail Master, Puppet. Action: Puppet’s mental inhibitors suppressed. Action: Statis engaged for Puppet transport.”
The words came and left. Martine’s mind faded to black. He entered a familiar state of subconsciousness. Not quite awake or asleep. No longer aware of himself or his surroundings but present in his thoughts. Feeling left his body. It had begun.
