Like before, as their powers clashed and roared, tearing apart reality around them as if the world was no tougher than thin paper. Mountains ripped in half as they drew within a single meter of one another--time slowed down. A baby laughed, far, far in the distance, breaking into a million pieces, planets splintered and fragmented before crushing into itself, forming new stars, forming new planets. In their wake and raw power, focused on to a single point, they were both destruction and creation. A new galaxy would be born just from the clash of their fists alone, a cosmic shockwave that would knock all off their feet.
Scientists would call it 'unnatural earthquakes.'
Cosmonauts would call it 'solar winds.'
Sailors would call it 'a surprise storm.'
Barbarians would call it the wrath of the gods.
How strange that the least educated, the least civilized, would understand it the most. Or, perhaps, it was just another instance of broken clocks.
Either way, existence shuddered. And fell away--like the breaking of a trillion mirrors, glass shards flung in all directions like lethal shrapnel, their existence exploded, as if their conflict completely destroyed this universe.
Another moment later, Tarble would realize--the Universe was just fine. What had been, perhaps, a simple illusion to his eyes, had turned out to be much, much more. A specialized barrier to protect her planet from the raw forces of their annihilation. What had been a strange, will-bound change to their environment, as if she commanded the respect of the cosmos itself, turned out to be nothing more than a specialized field to protect Infernus from their might. But why had it broken? Was the strain of their conflicting energies so vast, so powerful, that it had finally had enough?
If Tarble looked down at his hand, he would see why. His hand and arm were covered in demonic blood, the ebony-black armor that had been protecting the Demon Queen's heart had been shattered completely, as if the armor had never been there to begin with... strange, isn't it? Where at first, his fists and attacks had been blunted by armor older than any species alive today, his hand had ripped through it as if it had been weaker than flesh. The shockwave of their conflict had caused her helmet to be shattered and blown away, leaving her face bare to his sight.
She was bleeding from her mouth, from her eyes, from her ears. The Hakai was slowly eating away at her physical body, yet it was not the speedy destruction of a being that he might be used to, no, as even the powers of Hakai were not enough to erase Lilim from existence. Tarble would soon realize this, as if his heightened power would let him put two and two together where he otherwise would not. That was just another power of breaking through the limit--you became something far, far greater. Greater than even your own imagination.
And Lilim was smiling.
She coughed once, her glistening fangs covered in saliva and blood, closing her eyes from the sheer pain of it as the Hakai took its sweet time in destroying her physical form. She would be back... but this time, it would be a little slower than usual. He had, after all, stepped into a much, much larger world. She opened her eyes again, looking up to him with that smile.
"I see... I am convinced."
"Ha ha ha, hrn... it hurts... to laugh..."
"Take it... the portion of my soul you still grasp. Add it to your own--the fourth pillar. All that..." she shuddered once, as her physical body's ability to live was draining from her, a sensation demons like her were not strangers to. And yet... and yet each death felt like a new... unique... experience. This time, very much so...
"...All that remains... is the Pillar of the Dragon. That is all--for my hint. The rest, you have to... to figure out... for yourself. You bested me... maybe... you can best... best..." she started to say, but then her eyes went wide, and her whole bodddy shudddddderrrreeddddd annnddnndndnd twiwiwiwitthccccchchhhed innnnnn aaaaaaaaa viscscssceeeeraalllall diiiisssspplllllllaaayayyyay offffffff dddddddddddddddddddeeaaaaath...........................
And thus, Lilim's physical body ceased to move, the Hakai destroying layer after layer, while the departure of Lilim's soul caused the rest of the body to burn into ash and cinders, leaving naught but an incredibly small--and incredibly heavy--glowing ruby in his hand. After a moment, that Ruby would melt into his hand and become one with him------be careful...
...you were not prepared.
...and now, for one minute... you will know pain. Survive it.
