He was… stunned, paralyzed even. Why was his daughter trying to contact him? She never did so without a valid reason for it. That’s when he heard what followed behind it, his ears could hear as she screamed out in pain. If that wasn’t bad enough, the world around him changed and his eyes joined in as he watched her struggle in her fight. A sudden moment of self-regret took over.
Why was she fighting? Who was she fighting against? The gears set in from earlier had finally started to rotate. He knew exactly who was responsible. Those images that he’d seen before earlier in their fight, it wasn’t the work of the forces that he was fighting. It had to be the work of the Fallen. He was already told about that from Bulma and how she was worried they wouldn’t operate kindly. That, however, still didn’t explain why Kari was involved.
She was a part of that organization and remembered them trying to get a hold of him to fight alongside the Kais. Finally, his mind snapped back to reality as he realized something. He was still fighting and while he didn’t want to, he had to postpone his feelings for the moment. It was a warrior’s job to see that they come out on top.
“You won’t be taking me anywhere,” he said as he rose his arm high above his head.
An orange blast of energy then erupted from his palm to shoot forth into the sky like a firework. It then exploded, raining more blasts down onto the battlefield to bring pain to his opponents. He no longer cared about the war that he was fighting in. To him, he was simply fighting a battle and he wasn’t about to lose it.
“Screw this war, I’m going to finish kicking your asses and then go to protect Kari myself,” he yelled.
The ground then started to rumble as he prepared his next assault. Something deep in his head told him that he might have needed to consider the consequences of his actions, but he wanted to see just who’d survive. Which one of them would emerge victorious from this scuffle? He threw his weapon around to his back and then held his arms out. With a kick, he leapt into the air and fired his energy around like a machine gun.
Six rounds left his palms, soaring through the air as they traveled to their intended targets. The Zaunite didn’t stop there as he kept firing and firing until he was back on his feet. While he was still in free falling, only a train fighter would have noticed. He was charging something up until it was ready and thankfully it was as soon as he landed.
He fired a dozen more blasts, causing the battlefield to shake to and fro. It might have seemed like he was a monster after carrying on after learning what happened to Kari, but he didn’t shake that. That still lingered on his mind.
Just hang on… I’ll be there as soon as I can. You can endure until then. Her eyes simmered to a close at the attacking light and she winced at the pain that entered her eyes. Even so, without her eyes she listened to him and there was a seething calm that overtook her. Her stubborn nature escaped her and she sighed as she agreed with Pybara. Walid’s attacks rained down and she shielded against most of it by simply calling forth her massive shield at the raise of her hand. Some squeezed through and hit her which made her shudder in pain before she stood back up with bruises all over her body. Her eyes slowly opened, and she could barely see but her eyes focused to where she thought Walid to be.
“They aren’t. I apologize. We were dispatched to clear the Fallen plight, but I came here simply to find myself within myself…. Here at the Ruin of Passing. To find Walid, and report on why he placed efforts in aiding the Fallen. Make sure, that the dumby was just being dumb as usual….”
She then smiled. Even though she spoke to Pybara, she was looking at Walid and Yua go at it. Both were pig headed in their own way, but seeing them act like this… actually brought a smile to her face.
“It’s good to see he’s as stupid as usual. Geez, I wonder what we are going to do with him.”
She clapped her hands and then sighed. Her face had become rigid and serious. Her voice, as cute as it was before, had a bit more depth in it as she issued a command.
“Omicron Corps. This is a retreat order. Head back to Avalon base to regroup.”
Walid had done his damage. They could not keep up with his widespread attacks. Anna, herself, waited until her own squad, consisting of a handful of Paladins, had returned to the ship. Yua and her squad would most likely leave as well with her pulling her own away. Once both squads were gone, leaving Anna on her own, she faced down Walid.
“Elder. Can you run damage control? My husband runs tech that can. I need you to direct us both somewhere where we can have a private ‘talk’”
