“I’m kind of enjoying the political show, so that’s probably not helping my karma,” Yan said in agreement, dancing on past the subject of his murder. He liked people and stories, and the shifts among the factions was interesting. The PTO teaming with the Fallen, the Saiyan Empire being split apart...As Garou implied, it was bigger now than most could contain.
“What’s the progress on your end?” he asked then, remembering Garou’s involvement was very pointed. “Did they give you a quota you need to meet before they help you? Or are they just going when the war settles, when the war settles...”
GarouToday at 7:48 PM
"I've no clue, honestly," Garou said with a sigh. "But even an empty promise is better than an unreasonable punishment. That bitch on Kelioux didn't even remember who I was. Maybe the Fallen saw only a mercenary for hire, but I've gotten the resources that I've needed to continue my hunt alone. That's enough for me. Plus, some unexpected windfalls along the way..."
He trailed off, thinking back to Barkley's promise of aid. Her gift was something he'd only encountered because they fought one another, and he still hardly believed that it would be as potent as she claimed. That, combined with the power he had recently awakened on Lagann and all that Tarble offered -- it put Garou in a comfortable position. "I doubt this war will truly settle, even if the fighting were to end tomorrow, next week, or next month. But that doesn't really matter to me. When the dust begins to settle, I think I'll take a page out of your book. If anyone wants me, they can come and get me."

Yan smiled at his explanation, thinking that was perhaps the best thing you could get out of a war. Empty promises tended to be trash but when you fought with people and against people you gained other ties and bonds. If Garou came out of this war feeling at a better advantage, that was really all he could hope for. In Yan’s experience, things tended to work out as long as you could say you didn’t regret it.
“That’s definitely one of the better ways to look at it~” he offered, stepping forward to look over the crater. “It’s all a means to an end. If you can enjoy the ride a bit all the better, but at the end of the day, your end goal is what brings you satisfaction. So long as you’re willing to let the goal shift if need be, you’ll be fine.”
GarouToday at 8:25 PM
"A means to an end, exactly. Some people find that a bitter pill to swallow, but that just speaks to their naivety," Garou agreed, blinking slowly at the ginger. There was a lot that Garou had done in the name of reaching his goals which would reflect poorly on him, if taken out of context. No doubt Yan had had many such experiences himself -- one did not become so powerful without making difficult decisions, after all.
"By the way," he started, somewhat abruptly changing the topic, "last we spoke, you offered a helping hand if I came across something exciting. It seems like you've got plenty of excitement going on, but if you're interested, I might have something for you."
Yan/Bulma/JuttersToday at 8:51 PM
Naiveté or stupidity. To Yan, everyone was the same. There was always a goal in mind. Some people simply had vaguer ones they didn’t fully comprehend. It was a goal to go forward in a way that hurt the least people. It was a goal to keep your conscience clean. To him, people that judged that view point simply thought their goals were more important, that theirs meant more and everyone should conform to them. That just wasn’t how people worked.
He perked up though as Garou brought him back to his original offer, and he turned back to him with the earlier excitable look that seemed far too pure for such a dangerous man.
“Oh? What is it?” he asked eagerly.
GarouToday at 9:10 PM
"Part of what I've been doing," Garou began to explain, "is tracking down some ghosts from my past. Most of my people were killed, but half a year ago several began to resurface with... grievous changes. I've confronted a few, but they're powerful and seem to be coordinated. Frankly, they're a pain in the ass. Having some added muscle when I find their base of operations would be more than welcome.
"There's a catch, though it may take some time to explain. I recently learned how they've acquired their newfound power: in a few words, ritualistic sacrifice. For some reason, those of my species who look like me," he said, pointing to his hair and eyes, "lose their lives for the sake of that power. There were never many of us, but I intend on finding out exactly why we've been targeted."
Of course, it wasn't quite as simple as that. He already knew who was siphoning off their strength, as well as who the one that benefitted most was. But the vision he'd had on Lagann was lost to him after the effects of Wriggle's blood wore off, and he needed to know exactly what significance his own blood had to Bishamonten.
Yan/Bulma/JuttersToday at 9:30 PM
“Ritualistic sacrifice~ All fun until it’s you!” Yan joked with a grin before pausing. “Unless it’s for you...” he continued with a hum, tapping his chin. “Though the fun level is definitely a preference on that one...I’ve been given mixed reviews.”
Again, what he said didn’t make a lot of sense without a lot of context, but it seemed it was Yan’s habit to drop such things and forget to explain unless pressed. He always explained when pressed, sometimes only needing something as simple as being asked twice, but he didn’t actually think his experience as concerning as the business Garou actually proposed.
“If you are fancy enough to be a good sacrifice, it might be power you can use for yourself,” he continued back on point. “Sometimes the best investigation is a direct confrontation. Finding their base might be the best route to more answers, and if they’re coordinated in their strikes against you catching them less prepared is always wise,” he offered before lifting his fist to gently touch his palm.
“I wouldn’t mind some cult smashing action. Might scratch the itch I have from someone reminding me of a cult I cannot find.”
GarouToday at 9:58 PM
The Zoran nodded with a grin at Yan's acceptance of the proposal. Even better, he seemed to be exactly on the same page as Garou. Striking directly was the most efficient thing, and if he could pinpoint their location to strike directly, it would leave the sorry bastards caught with their dicks out. Any information that they had would be taken by force, and even if a few survived, the corrupted remnants of Karinsys would no longer be a problem. In the best case, they may even flee back to Zora, where Garou would ultimately find himself purging whatever influence Bishamonten had spread throughout the land.
"Good. I've got a little more legwork to do to pin them down, but I'll be in touch soon," he said. The twisted priests who had appeared on that backwater world with Legion, the appearance of Raian on Yaidrat -- those fools had made themselves known to Garou, and now it would be their downfall.
"I'm glad I ran into you here, Yan. Any time you need a favor, just let me know." His words echoed faintly through the false Kelioux as his body slowly broke down. When Garou reawoke in the real world, he felt refreshed. Call it chance, call it fate, or call it providence -- whatever it was, the White Wolf seemed to have earned its favor. Everything was falling into place.
