"Sounds like something you could use for your own people," Yua commented. She then quickly added, "I'm sorry if that was offensive. I know Walid would probably have tried to hit me for that."

“Not at all. Like I said, Zaun is very poor~” she said laughing again. “Poor people tend to go for the Robin Hood schemes because it’s still going back to them!”

The android smiled, before she said, "Well, perhaps we could work together in both. So long as you join the Protectorate," she wondered if Samara would, and hoped that would be the case.

Samara’s smile widened before fading again into easy contentment. “How did you end up in the Protectorate, if you don’t mind me asking?”

The android's smile lessened, but only slightly. "I was made to serve a doctor that went against them. I don't remember my creator, so that's all I could say. I was pressed into service during the Steel Legion war, and I was recently activated again." The smile came back, "But now I'm self aware, so I can make my own choices."

"To force the Paladins and the Protectorate to change," she said, with a bit of a smile. "After all, I'll outlive the current administers and leaders. Change might take many years, but most of those that made bad decisions during the Steel Legion war aren't really in charge, or they wield less power." The thing had been a disaster for Avalon, a galactic embarrassment. "Though I may leave. It all depends on what steps they take next."

“You have a lot of ambition,” Samara said, smiling more gently now. “You remind me of my master. She always wants to change things and make them better even when they seem hopeless. I’ve only ever been good at following those types of people,” she told her before grinning again. “Maybe I’ll follow you too.”
