The sky was streaked with reds and oranges, faint tails of blue still lingering as the sun over the horizon. Bardock's hands were tightly gripped on his headband, tugging and the strands that were knotted behind his jet black hair. Sweat dripped down his forehead but soaked into the headband and slightly darkened its color. Since his time on the home world of the Celestials, he had done nothing expect train day in and day out. His muscles were burning with pain, begging for recovery, but his pride was too steep. The discovery of entities as strong as he was, some even stronger, drove him to his limits. The Savage Elite craved nothing but power, ultimately the pursuit of power would allow him to obtain his goal, but still this was different. This pursuit was not for the sake of achieving the unthinkable- no. This was for the sole purpose of being the best. The ecosystem structured around the planet was great for training purposes. It allowed a vast array of climates to acclimate to and push himself to his very limits. Currently he resided in a thick forest, lush greenery spanning far and wide. The dark brown bark of exotic trees creaked as the wind blew, and one tree in particular had the bark stripped from it's trunk. The natural color of the tree was exposed to the world, heavy imprints marked the location of Bardock's fist. " Alright," he said with pride, lifting a towel from beside a fallen tree. " Just about does it." Turning his hand over the stretching landscape he could see at least thirty fallen trees, each with similar patterns from his fist imprinted into the trunks. His left hand quickly began to massage his shoulder and his right arm slowly rotated in a circle. To his rear he could hear the soft and graceful steps greeting his ears. " So, finally showing your face?" Bardock barked without turning to face the person. " Bit late in the evening, could have used a sparring partner a few hours ago." With a heavy sigh he took a seat on one of the fallen trees. Leaning forward and resting his forearms against his thighs for support. " What do you want?" 370 / 370

The darkness was nigh. As per the status quo, the sun would soon vanish over the horizon and leave the Consecrated Fortress and all areas surrounding in the pitch of night. Only the lights of the majestic fortress would soon provide any reprieve from the dark.
But, it was kind of nice like that, wasn't it?
Perhaps it was fate, or the allure of a soft wandering breeze against her pale skin that drew the Watcher from the tower and sent her wandering across the grounds. Less than a year ago her kind were outcasts of the worst kind. Reviled, pitied, disgraced and shunned by all otherworldly creature. Yet, for all the ill her past had accumulated and harbored, Arael found herself welcomed within the holy ground of Toffit.
While she walked a familiar energy signature in the form of her newest Saiyan acquaintance drew her attention. He was peculiar and Arael struggled to figure him out, but that was perhaps due in large part to her ignorance toward the race in general.
Her dainty stride brushed through the green grass, at some point she must have unknowingly made herself known, as she was called out to. The woman's purple orbs locked onto the Saiyan and she continued her path until they were only a leap away from one another. Arael stood as Bardock took a seat upon the fell trunk.
"I'll admit, I haven't had much occasion to do this 'sparring,' as it were," she said gently as the white sleeves of the pure robe were folded across her chest. "But then again, I suppose there's no time like the present. If you can handle it," the purple eyes wandered to the sweat soaked headband before they fixated on the whole image of the rugged Saiyan.
"Do not worry - I feel much more in control of my power," she nodded, referencing their first meeting.

Rummaging through his belongs as she spoke Bardock latched onto a small chunk of stall bread. He listened, thinking back to their first meeting and the amount of raw power he experienced from her that faithful day. Wasting little time he engulfed the loaf in two bites. " Control, eh?" The barbaric Saiyan said as he spoke with a mouth full of food. There was a part of him that wanted to face this new ally, not just a spar, but a real battle. He knew unlike other fights he had before, she would push him to his absolute limits, allowing him to break any shackles that held him down. Although she claimed she wasn't used to sparring, supporting the worlds with seemingly flawless white robes resting over her body, the Saiyan could hardly believe it. How did someone have so much power, but never trained in hand to hand combat against another to obtain it? Was it the way of the Saiyans that was so absurdly different? No, the Saiyans were wild beasts, following Darwinism to a 'T' in a traditionalist's mindset, but there was no way that they were the only ones. He began to wonder as the finally bits of food made their way into his stomach, were the Saiyans so vastly different in culture from the others? Would this issue need to be addressed one day when he claimed the throne? Problems for another time. " Well, don't worry about it. I'm finished for the day, I was thinking about heading back into the city soon." He sighed, as things were he knew he couldn't take the woman on head to head. " Maybe another time, how about some explanation, I have questions I didn't have the chance to ask earlier." Bardock proceeded to stand, slinging his duffle over his right shoulder as he began to lead the way back, motioning to Arael to follow. " There is something calling me, I can feel it. It's a power unlike anything I felt before. There isn't a better word except 'godly'." Bardock took a moment to try and find a better word, but his mind failed him. " I'm not sure if it is your power, even though the celestial signature is close to it, it might be someone else. But still.... I only ever felt it once before, a god the Saiyans worship, Yamoshi. He came to me on battle and granted me the power to fight beyond my limits. Ever since then I have been following a trail of breadcrumbs. I found my youngest son.... I found strength... Yet still I find nothing of this voice calling out to me. I know it is a long shot, but do you know anything about this?" His head turned as he stopped dead in his tracks at the edge of the thick forest. His eyes showed his desperation for an answer and he prayed that she had something, being a celestial and all. 491 / 861

Was that a small degree of relief that fell across her when the Saiyan decided not to spar her? Or perhaps his words inflicted some small degree of disappointment in the woman. She wasn't entirely sure either way, nor could she be swayed one over the other.
Not many of his kind ventured into the Consecrated Fortress, at least, not many that stayed to chat. From what Arael could surmise, the faction of Elysian troops and that of the Saiyan Empire had some degree of a working relationship. To what ends, well, she was not privy to such information. Regardless, she would watch and take mental notations on their mannerisms.
Her venture do the sparring grounds did not end in naught as Bardock began to speak and explain the nearly indescribable calling he felt tugging at him. Arael listened, soaking up every word as their steps crunched the strands of grass and dirt below their boots.
"Something is calling you? Or maybe it's someone..." she summed up the Saiyan's words in her own musing. Her white eyebrows furrowed for a moment as she appeared to draw up sleeping memories. "It is very possible here, of all places. My kind," she threw her right hand into the empty air beside her in a gesture of futility. "Had our calling taken away many, many years ago. But I do know certain powers resonate with those that are extraordinarily compatible with their own," her musings continued.
"What if someone is calling out to you and doesn't even know it?"

Their city had taken them to the city gates by time she threw out her arms and asked her final questions. It was an interesting thought, was the thing Bardock sought actually calling out to him? Was it something that simply felt like the presences he once felt on the battlefield and now desired to seek the truth behind it? Maybe there was nothing out there or even on this home planet of the Celestials, maybe he was making it all up. No, there was no way that was true. " I can feel it," he stated with a calm breathe, his eyes peering at the thick outer walls of the city. The entrance to the city was calm and relatively idle due to the time of day. Guards were able to take a breather, quickly patting down any of the few stragglers that craved entry into the fortress before nightfall. " Whatever it is, I am gonna find it." Bardock's eyes were set ablaze with determination. He knew that the next step in his journey was to find whatever drew him to the planet in the first place. After a brief check over from the guard, unsure if Arael was processed as well, the Savage Elite made his way through the gates. The streets were dead, businesses closing down for the night and small lamps illuminating the street for any of the lingering souls. Flashes, like a picture book being rapidly flipped tens of hundreds of pages at a time, began to appear in his mind- taking his breath from chest immediately . He could see a figure, long black hair that fell down the mid of the back, strange armor even that Bardock had never seen before. Moreover the Saiyan witnessed a storm, lightning arching through the skies with a beautiful blue hue. A mysterious spire crumbled over and drifting through a void of darkness. His lungs suddenly filled with air once more as the visions concluded. A splitting headache manifested itself with a throbbing sensation and caused veins to bulge over his temple as he lifted his right hand to his skull. He grunted in discomfort, shaking off whatever pain was coming on from the random vision. " Fuck," he proclaimed before looking back at the Celestial. " Sorry...." He said with a low and aggravated growl. " Do you know of a man with long black hair, strange armor, or a black tower by chance?" It was a long shot but he needed to find any clues possible, it turned out that he might be closer to the source of power than he realized originally. However, he was now left with more questions than answers. 442 / 1303

How awful it must have been to be haunted by the calling of something you never could quite place your finger on. Moreso when whatever it was that called you, drew you to multiple planets.
The pair entered the outer gates of the Fortress and soon found themselves among the last remnants of illuminated windows to be found on the main stretch of street before everything split off into their respective quarters.
"I believe you're right. If the feeling gets so much stronger when you're here," Arael made a waving motion toward the ground. "Then whatever you seek must be here," she said.
Suddenly, Bardock appeared to have been struck with an unseen ailment. Whatever had overcome him only lasted a fleeting moment and only betrayed the tough exterior with a simple grunting sound. Almost instinctively, she reached out to rest the palm of her hand against his shoulder for comfort, though she quickly withdrew at his recovery.
"Long black hair, strange armor? A black tower?" Arael repeated the question, curiously this time. Initially her mind immediately went to Azazel, the powerful Celestial that decimated and reconstituted Penemue in a breadths moment. Though, he did not have a black tower that she was aware of, nor was he to be found anywhere on Toffit. At the apex of the war he simply vanished.
"No. I do not know anybody like that, I'm afraid," she said, regretfully.

Bardock slammed his fist into his other palm with frustration from the cryptic vision. " Always questions and never answers," he said with spite in his voice as he shook his head and furled his brows angrily. Looking over to the Celestial beside him, he took a moment to breathe, in through his nose and out through his mouth. " Sorry," he said begrudgingly. A void was filled with nothing more than silence, Bardock still understood little when it came to interacting with people who were not Saiyans. It seemed all he knew was blood and sweat, and this frail looking Celestial seemed to know little about either. At least from his perspective that was his initial assumption. " Look, I'm gonna head back to my quarters. You shouldn't be out here too late. I'll see you in the morning," Bardock lifted his hand up and began a lazy wave as he pushed forward to his little room in the middle of the city. The day gave him little, but at the same time, he now had another clue to discover the truth behind. 181 / 1484
