Whether through genius or sheer madness, Joseph did the one thing that could easily nullify the usefulness of his scythe by getting inside of its range. It took every bit of speed and prowess available to him to deftly deflect the barrage of punches with the haft of the scythe before it exploded into ultraviolet embers.
Now able to exchange blows comfortably up-close, Chaos’ battle instincts guided through a series of narrow dodges. The speed of the punches were very nearly too much to overcome as he weaved through the blows with gritted teeth, a few coming within a hair’s width from connecting.
He took several large back steps desperate to gain some distance. The Saiyan’s speed was simply too much to deal with up-close. This afforded him time to react, summoning his blades to his hands just as what appeared to be magma fists erupted towards him. Chaos let out a guttural roar, standing defiant before the approaching inferno and tore through it with a cross slash. His blades formed a neat hole in the lava allowing the rest to roll harmlessly past him, spewing into the ruined streets like a river of fire.
Chaos’ dark eyes narrowed on his enemy, taking hold of the lava flowing around him and sending it hurtling back towards Joseph in a tidal wave. He let out an exhausted breath, focusing on Joseph’s reaction.
He kept the Saiyan in his sight while silently focusing on a dark spell, channeling power to his glowing eyes. His lips moved soundlessly, tracing the words of the proper incantation. The darkness of his aura seemed to grow darker against all logic and Chaos disappeared behind the black veil of it.
Without warning, immediately as Joseph was recovering from dealing with the lava wave, Chaos appeared before him, eyes blazing ultraviolet energy, and in that moment a connection would be made.
The overwhelming darkness surrounding Chaos would envelop the entire planet and blot out every lightsource. The ocean of black that would become all Joseph knew shifted, rippled, and shapes would emerge. The shapes would be unrecognizable from anything he had ever known, only recognizing them as shapes in the most primitive sense of the word. If he try to move Joseph would find it impossible, only then becoming aware that his arms were bound out wide and his feet together. If he managed to turn his head somehow he would find the reason for his restriction: a rotted wooden cross he was bound to with barbed wire.
Those unfamiliar shapes in darkness would begin to move closer and closer, slowly approaching, agonizingly slow, and when the unknowable mass came close enough to touch it would pry his jaw open and enter his mouth, forcing itself down his esophagus, pouring out of his eyes and nose and ears in inky bursts. The endless ocean would fill and suffocate and tear through Joseph for days.
At least, that’s how he would experience it if he fell victim to Chaos’ black magic. In reality the entire illusion would take place in a three second span with Joseph merely staring lifelessly into space as he experienced incomprehensible pain for days on end.

Joseph had pressed his attack toward the Scythe-wielding Emperor to run him down. However, Chaos remained deft and sagacious as ever, compensating for the weapon’s length and using its haft as a shield against Joseph’s flurry of blows to the Demi-Earthling’s frustration. The vagrant emperor was not as fast as the Super Saiyan, but he was fast enough, for now. Chaos persisted in escaping the child’s assault, nearly a dozen strikes, all narrowly his elusive enemy by way of deftly performed maneuvers and possibly a form of divination. The Emperor backed away from wise to the danger of an attacker outpacing him. Chaos then summoned his blades and called more magma from the ground. Joseph looked up at the rising lava fist and back at Chaos, catching subtle movements of his lips and the less subtle dark aura emerging around his person. Joseph opened his hand and electric sparks over his palms sent a tingling feeling through his hands before a blue sphere of ki appeared, vibrating in his hand and giving a steadily growing warmth as he gathered energy as he ran towards the lava pillars and their caster. He tossed the blast at the pillars of lava, it flew through the air and erupted, sending out a shockwave and beams of light that struck against the magma and made it fall to the ground, spilling on the streets spread yards away from their intended path leaving him a clear path to pursue the Emperor. A blue glimmer floated in the air where the shockwave had happened before the energy condensed back to the side of a ball and shot down toward Chaos with the intent to detonate on contact. Joseph was right behind it; he broke off into a greater burst of speed toward Chaos, appearing to vanish. A shockwave boomed through ruined streets. Dust kicked up from where he was just a mere moment ago. The dark aura obscured the sight of his target, but other sharp senses guided him. The faint sound and light feeling of his breathing hinted towards his movements and he had the immense energetic presence of his opponent on top of that. Joseph quickly struck an open palm at Chaos’ body; it wouldn’t damage him, but it would wind him and, more notably, send a forceful jolt that would disrupt the flow of ki through his body as well as break any form of concentration. Joseph followed by sticking out his index and middle finger and pressing his thumb against them, and rapidly jabbing at Chaos’ body. The Celestial would feel more jolts through his body and would feel his locking inside his body as he would become tense, is power would feel stifled for a brief moment. The boy narrowed his eyes in focus and placed his hands close to each side of his head. “Solar Flare!” Joseph exclaimed, light-flooded from where he stood, swallowing the entire street in painfully brilliant illumination. The saturation of light threatened to assault Chaos’ vision, startling and blinding the Celestial. He hoped it would prevent Chaos from attempting another dangerous enchantment, at least for a bit. Joseph moved closer to Chaos, intending to bring this fight to a close through close-quarters combat. If Chaos thought Joseph's speed was troublesome up close while he had his sight, then Joseph was eager to test how troublesome he could be while Chaos was blind. Chaos could only grit his teeth in frustration, barely able to swipe aside Joseph’s ki at the last moment. Fire and rock rained all around him, amidst the devastation he had given his full focus to weaving his illusion magic, in a trance-like state he didn’t even register Joseph’s sudden closeness until he struck. The series of blows literally knocked the magic out of him and disabled his spell.
He stumbled back heavily huffing, unable to defend against the sudden burst of blinding light. His vision was instantly rendered useless and the sudden loss of sense nearly caused him to collapse. He resisted the vertigo expecting an immediate follow up from his opponent. With his ki-senses now hyper focused in the absence of his vision he managed to stumble drunkenly out of Joseph’s reach as he predictably tried to close the distance once more.
With a few feet of distance between them Chaos stood staring sightlessly at Joseph.
“You’re getting desperate– I don’t need my eyes to see that,” he said with a bloody smile. He took in a deep breath, wincing when he felt a couple ribs pop. As his vision improved with each passing second there was little he was willing to risk doing offensively, focusing instead on catching his breath and tracking Joseph’s massive energy signature.

The confounding flash of light successfully sent the Emperor recoiling. The fumbling Celestial managed to retreat from Joseph’s reach through the guidance of attuned energetic sensitivity. Chaos gazed at the boy, quipping about perceived desperation with a bloody smile. A twinge of frustration struck the boy at Chaos’ elusiveness and arrogance. The Demi-Earthling pushed passed his annoyance and adjusted his stance as he took a breath. There was no room to be distracted by such unnecessary stress.
He wouldn’t have called himself desperate, but he had grown warier. The boy could see that his attacks on the Emperor were taking their toll, but Joseph was unsure how much longer he could keep this up. The momentum he gained came at the cost of a good deal of energy. Plus, maintaining his ascended state in itself drew from his ki reserves. Even with it honed to minimize energy consumption, it added up over time as battles prolonged. He essentially had a time limit for this form. There were means to replenish his reserves, but he’d need a moment to draw them, and that would be all it could take to shift the economy of motion. The boy knew he needed to find a way to down this Celestial.
A golden aura flooded from the child as he dashed toward Chaos. The boy fired a jab at the Emperor’s jaw before quickly shifting to his side and shooting two hooks at his ribs before pivoting to get back in front of him. He drew his hand downward while the hip beneath it faded aside. Fiery ki swirled around and enveloped his fist as he shot it up on a path straight for Chaos’ chin.
Joseph opened his hand, blue flames swirling in his palm and shaping into a ball roughly the size of an orange. He shot his hand at the Celestial’s stomach to slam the fireball against his body. It would then deploy from his hand and send Chaos flying back yards before exploding, bathing him and the street in blue fire. Not done pressing his attack, Joseph ran toward Chaos. He held an arm to the side and generated a transparent blue ball of ki in his hand. The child appeared to flicker as he darted to each side as he closed the distance. He disappeared in a blink and emerged less than a meter from Chaos before throwing the bubble-like sphere at Chaos. If it landed, it would explode, knocking him back and encasing the Celestial in spirit energy. Afterward, Joseph continued pressing forward, trying once again to force Chaos into close-quarters combat.

Chaos was admittedly struggling to catch his breath, but was far from exhaustion. It felt like his opponent was leaking energy with every passing second though– he’d just have to outlast him.
Though Joseph retained a clear advantage in movement speed the gap was not as wide as it had seemed and the Emperor’s battle instincts continued to keep him a step ahead of the Saiyan’s godly agility.
His body contorted and twisted around the incoming fists that lanced at his torso, but the onslaught was one attack too many for Chaos to stay on top of. His eyes widened at the blazing fist and a mystical adornment hidden beneath his armor reacted to his stress level, instantly covering his body in a protective barrier of negative energy. The Saiyan’s fist slammed into his jaw, but with greatly muted force.
If not for the automated defenses built into his wardrobe he likely would not have had a chance to defend the follow up attack, a fireball that he countered by catching Joseph’s inferno covered hand with his hand, their energies detonating at the moment of contact and bathing the world in blue and orange flames.
Chaos had to block the intense firelight with his forearm, losing sight of his opponent in the blaze until the Saiyan’s figure phazed into view right in front of him. He cursed, recognizing the technique Joseph intended to use, muttering a counter spell as quickly as his lips could trace it. The bubble left Joseph’s hand, hurtling towards Chaos, but instead of trapping him it shrank, vanishing harmlessly into an energy vacuum he kept on his body.
He wasted no time returning the stored technique, unable to do much else at such close range, sending the trapping sphere flying towards the incoming opponent. The surprise return and Joseph’s foolhardy rush would make any attempted dodge difficult to process or pull-off, hopefully slowing the Saiyan by making him second guess his aggressive close quarters assault.

I appreciated the shishio dodge, and I liked Joseph's apprehension of rushing in against the blade even with his plan to get under range. And then your second post's first paragraph gave me a stroke. You can tell you boys are rushing a bit now with grammar mistakes but Joseph's are larger and more jarring than Chaos'. I did not like the fireball vs fireball roleplay which is why it got some damage. Despite Nightmare failing via Pressure Points, it saved Chaos the RP Award.

Chaos' resilience continued to persist, evading the pugilistic combination before raising a shift of negative energy that dampened both the power of the punch as well as the satisfaction of it making it to his chin. The boy found irony in this, usually he was the one on the backfoot and made to have to evade and Shield himself from his opponents. The Emperor absorbed bended space once again to absorb his blast and quickly sent it back out to it's advancing sender. The boy's eyes widened surprised and wary of the consequences of being caught by it. He had too much momentum to stop himself at this range so instead the took a breath before opening his mouth. "Ahhhhhh!" the child clamored, thr voice of his ki enpowered voice bringing him to a halt just before the blast collided with him. A thunderous shockwave erupted from him shaking the streets for miles and knocking debris and rubble in all directions. Upon being struck by this shout the blast lost and splashed like it was coming out a busted water ballon before the energy slowly faded. The boy sighed in relief panting for a moment to catch his breath to diffuse the remaining anxiety brought on by his narrow escape. Joseph kept his eyes trained on Chaos and reached behind his shoulder to pull out the cudgel resting in the case over his shoulder. Before the moment he would have been seen pulling it out, Joseph vanished like he had done earlier. He circled around to Chaos' flank and bounded towards him as he swung his staff toward the Celestial's cheek after the strike he landed at the Emperor's center and held his weapon in both hands like it was a spear and began jabbing yhe weapon back and forth rapidly to bombard his enemies body with bludgeoning strikes from the staff's tip. After finishing the flurry Joseph twirled his weapon in his hand and shortened it to put back into its case. He then bounded forward,rapidly closing the distance as he swung his fist at Chaos jaw to catch him with a gazelle hook, the moment his feet were set on the ground Joseph followed with a jab aimed at Chaos gut, followed by a straight right with the same target. The punches would hopefully serve as a cover to help him engage Chaos up close. A1) [email protected] Blast

Chaos’ quick reflexes seemed to pay off, stonewalling the aggressive Saiyan for an instant. He flashed a blood soaked grin at the young warrior as he easily shattered the trap.
“Damn…
In an instant he summoned demonic energy to bolster his defenses, unsure where to defend when Joseph suddenly vanished. Ultraviolet wisps of energy ignited the air around Chaos and the very atoms in the air crackled with elementary disarray as reality struggled to contain the unbound might of both fighters when Joseph’s first attack rang tore through the aether, leaving him little else to do but desperatley cover up. Though Joseph picked a predictable target the force behind it was massive, a bone rattling blow that smashed his blocking arm into the side of his head and nearly took him off his feet.
He turned his head to where he felt the young warrior’s power, but Joseph remained too quick even for his senses.
The following strikes, still invisible, still too fast, came in a flurry. His arms worked through a feverish series of attempted blocks, mostly succeeding by pure luck and expertise of his technique. While it blunted some of the blows, several poked through his defenses unimpeded.
He held his ground, expecting Joseph to be pushing for close quarters and as expected the Saiyan stayed within arm’s reach. With a pained groan Chaos covered up, whiffing on the first hook because he was blocking his torso which thankfully intercepted a pair of attacks aimed at his gut.
The force of those blows pushed back against his guard and sent him a few valuable inches back just as Joseph came back into his blurred view. Though the young Saiyan maintained a raw power advantage his creativity was non existent and Chaos was already moving, expecting Joseph to maintain close quarters. He rolled to his side, narrowly avoiding the encroachment as his momentum carried him several yards.
As he rolled his image blurred and faded as he summoned his peak speed, now seeming to pop in and out of reality as his movement defied mortal physics.
Pushing his speed beyond what he had shown to be capable of thus far he appeared before Joseph, just out of the Saiyans melee range. He reached into his bag of tricks and copied a technique his opponent had used against him moments ago.
His eyes radiated such brightness that the world around him was bathed in a dark red, clashing with Joseph’s power, the ear splitting screech of resonating growing ever louder. At the maddening peak of light and sound, Chaos muttered a simple command:
“Solar flare.”
Blinding ultraviolet light scorched the world, burning shadows into the ruins around them. Without hesitation Chaos summoned a geyser of magma from behind Joseph, commanding it to crash down where he stood and directing the wave to follow as he leapt away. Hopefully it would keep the aggressive warrior distracted long enough for him to increase the distance between them.

The stonewalling against an exchange on the inside. It was trying his patience, though he understood why the Emperor would insist on avoiding such a position, all the more reason to keep trying. The efficient emperor guarded against the strike from his staff and the combinations that followed. After again backpedaling from the child’s advances, Chaos exuded his dark energy and felt the emperor’s power rise to a degree. The Cosmic Emperor accelerated, and Joseph could only perceive Chaos as a blur before the Celestial appeared near the child, announcing the name of an all too familiar technique before flooding the ruined streets with a flash of light. Joseph caught an increase in brightness, though before the blinding illumination could violate his eyes, the Emperor and the area within his line of sight suddenly turned much darker, almost like it was suddenly night. The intense flash counteracted the almost pitch-black view the boy was experiencing. Afterward, Joseph’s eyes would appear much darker before shifting back to the Emerald green of his pupils that looked toward the Emperor with no sign of them being harmed. His eyes were protected by contacts designed to have some of the features of his vizier. One is a function that automatically adjusts shading and filtered light to guard the wearer’s vision. Chaos did not stop there, summoning another eruption behind Joseph, trying to catch him in a splash of magma once more. The heat and energy given off by Chaos using the technique alerted him. Evasive action was not feasible in his position, so Joseph stuck his hands out to each side, blue ki discharging from his palms and quickly swirling around and taking the shape of a bubble a mere moment before the magma came down on him. The force made the boy’s knee buckle as he gritted his teeth in an effort not to knell while steeling himself to ignore the discomfort brought by the intense heat. After lava stopped raining down, the barrier flickered and appeared to fade, clearly weakened from enduring the previous attack. He took a breath, looked at Chaos, and advanced toward the Emperor again. The choice to keep approaching him to engage Chaos hand-to-hand may have seemed simple-minded and drab; however, it was not without reason. His opponent was on the back foot, and Joseph intended to keep it that way. He had to be the aggressor, moving forward until he managed to run down his adversary. He had to be tenacious. He had to be impetuous. The child placed his feet together and shuffled them, closing the distance between him and the Emperor in a blink. He shot jabs so swiftly that only the impact of one could reach the ears of all but the most attuned of hearing; two jabs at his stomach to knock the air from his lunges, followed by one at his already bloodied jaw. The boy followed with a flurry of chain-punches at Chaos’ body, vertically fisted strikes that rolled back and forth, each strike shooting out immediately after the other retracted. He started at the stomach before rotating to Chaos’ sides. He shot two more chain punches to test the Celestials ribcage and closed the combination. with an elbow before moving over to the opposite side, firing two more punches, followed by a kick to his stomach. Joseph kept the pressure on, rushing Chaos down with more and more blows. The demonic energy helped, but even with the bolstered defenses he was eating attacks he couldn’t block.
As Joseph shifted sides to attack Chaos ignited the evil energy in his aura with a mental command. Black fire leapt from his aura and engulfed the Saiyan’s limbs as his attacks slammed into Chaos.
Blood spurted from behind his teeth on the last blow but the force aided him in dodging Joseph’s predictable follow up. Though it proved difficult to keep up with Joseph’s movements, at this point his strategy was obvious enough that his body began moving without conscious thought, and a slight shift to his side let the headstrong warrior go sailing past him.
Pivoting he took aim at the passing Saiyan’s back with one hand while the other caught something tiny from a crimson portal. He fired a web of dark Ki hoping to slow the over zealous warrior down as his other hand brought the small object to his lips. He swallowed the bitter bean whole and felt its effects instantly. Wounds mended, bones reset, and his fatigue softened. A fresh burst of indigo light lit up the world as the healing sensation washed over his entire body.
Refreshed and refocused he shifted into a defensive stance, ready to move in any direction if Joseph opted to rush in for more melee.

Joseph felt another shift in the Celestial's energy as a dark aura covered him once again and dark orbs discharing from him and falling to the street after the initial combination. The flames that discharged during his third combination caught Joseph by surprise. The burning pain assaulted his arms, making him flinch and reel back; he gritted his teeth and grunted in pain as the flames singed his hands and forearm. Even with Fire Temple training and flame-retardant clothes, it was a far from pleasant sensation. Chaos maneuvered from the child's advance. Joseph skidded on his soles and did a 180 turn to keep his crafty adversary in his sights. He saw the Emperor pointing a hand toward him, and Joseph reached behind his back, pulled out his staff, and held it out toward Chaos while taking aim. The moment the web of dark energy was deployed, Joseph held his weapon in both hands and started twirling it rapidly. It spun so swiftly that the weapon looked like a blurry wheel. The sheer gale force generated a cloud of dust and pushed rubble into the surrounding area. It drove the net back and made it dwindle in volume before the intensity of the winds made it shrink and fade away. After the attack was dealt with, Joseph stopped spinning the staff and held haft with a push, it clicked, and he pressed it down to the size of a nightstick and tucked the stick away in his sash, ready to be pulled out if he needed it again. The boy caught a glimpse of Chaos putting a bean he recognized all too well. This hit him with a pang of annoyance, but this was no time to dwell too much on frustration. He just had to hope that enduring his assault mere moments before would dampen the restorative effects, plus he had his own senzu beans he could use later if he found himself in need urgent need of healing. There was something else he noticed around the Emperor, those small dark orbs lying on the ground, no signs of being manipulated by Chaos. Did he somehow beat ki out this man? Joseph took a breath, and his golden manifested and outlined him. He used this moment of Chaos taking reprieve as a chance to restore some of his reserves and also used his aura to draw in the mysterious balls of ki they levitated toward circling around him and then entered his being allowing him to assimilate the energy for his use. Joseph then placed his feet together one behind the other, forming a more bladed stance. He held his fisted hands in front of his face, making a textbook guard. He looked at the Emperor and shot toward him, appearing to flicker as he bounded toward Chaos. Once his target was within reach, Joseph struck at Chaos' stomach with a three-strike combination; an open palm, followed by a vertically knuckled punch, closed with a heavier open palm. The boy pivoted to the side, shifting to Chaos' flank, and placed a foot behind the Emperor as he slid it toward the Celestial's leg. As he did so, Joseph pushed at his chest while bringing in his foot in an attempt to sweep the Emperor and put him on his back. Joseph followed with two quick chain punches aimed at the hopefully prone Chaos' face. Afterward, Joseph was still upon him and attempting to advance to instigate a physical exchange of blows.

Joseph maintained a strategy dedicated to close quarters, and though Chaos continued to be a step too slow his instincts and prowess helped him keep up with the predictable goal of his opponent.
With most of his grievous wounds mended he practically welcomed Joseph in, taking the first combination with little defense as if baiting the young warrior. As the last strike snapped Chaos’ head back, the dark flames in his aura sprang to life and engulfed Joseph again. Despite the hellfire, the Saiyan’s combo struck home and nearly caved his nose in for the second time today but it was a trade he was fine with making.
As he fell to the ground, propelled by Joseph’s punches, he caught himself with his right hand and sprang back towards his opponent with a violent axe kick aimed to disable the Saiyan’s shoulder.
He let the force of the kick send him into a flip but he was on the move the moment his feet touched the ruined street. A burst of speed carried him back into melee range and he swung a vicious haymaker at Joseph’s jaw.
Chaos took a powerful hop-step away and sent a pair of simple Ki blasts in his wake to keep Joseph from closing the distance on him too soon.
As he landed he took in a deep, chest expanding breath and spewed a gout of white-hot flames behind the Ki blasts, intended to cut off pursuit and block Joseph’s vision.
His aura roared to life as he rocketed around Joseph’s flank, still well outside of the youth’s reach. From this new angle he unleashed another wall of stone-melting fire upon his opponent.
Knowing all too well he couldn’t waste even a millisecond against this opponent his right hand made a swirling motion in the empty air and with a high pitched screech a black disk of razor sharp Ki manifested over his open palm.
With a simple gesture with his index finger the disk tore through the air and punched a hole in the smoke and fire, following Joseph’s energy signature like a bloodhound.

Chaos keeps the award. Joseph had a bunch of good points but got bogged down trying to be too wordy and over explanatory.

The set of strikes was met with more retaliatory fire that swallowed his person. Joseph flinched back while stifling a groan of pain. He breathed heavily; energy expenditure was taking its toll, and the smoke from the fire did not help. The boy pressed forward, sending out another combination, only for the man’s reach to come through for him, a kick slamming against his should, sending a shock of pain that reached down his entire arm. He yielded it, moving with the kick, disbursing enough force to keep his shoulder from being dislocated. The boy skidded on his soles and was left open for the haymaker struck his jaw, followed by two ki blasts that exploded against his center mass. He coughed and stumbled over, falling on his back. The child grunted in pain.
The Emperor moved for the first time in a while during this battle. Joseph rolled to his side in a frantic attempt to get to his feet. However, the flames came too quickly, and another torrent of fire swallowed him. The boy closed his rose to his feet as he willed himself to stand up despite flames beating against him and burning him up and down. After the fire stopped, the boy was hunched forward and panting heavily. That attack rivaled the flames he endured in the fire temple.
The Emperor wasted no time and in tossing out another ranged attack, throwing a somewhat familiar disk of ki at him. He recognized it as a technique by the Heroic Monk Krillin. He wondered how his friend was doing. The boy quickly secured his staff from his belt and pressed down on a button in the middle, elongating it. The staff glowed and manifested a round blue shield that appeared in the middle of the weapon. The disk struck against the shield. Sparks flew through the air as the boy held his ground in resistance of a blade-like attack. He gritted his teeth, fighting the exhaustion, and pushed back harder against it before pivoting and swinging his weapon to divert the disk to the side, leaving it to fly off into the distance.
The boy turned the middle part of his weapon again and shortened it back to the length of a nightstick, and returned it to his sash. The boy then moved forward, wielding his fist and the unwavering resolve to advance. Three attacksaimedg for the Emperor’s jaw. A jab, followed by a hook, before he hoped into the air and swung his leg in a spin to nail the Emperor with a spinning hook kick.
Upon landing, he followed this combination with a ki-empowered uppercut at his gut, hoping to wind the Emperor and share the exhaustion he felt. The boy then brought his opposite hand forward for a moment it would look like he was going for another punch, but at the last moment, he’d swiped his hand to the ground throwing down a pellet that would burst and generate a cloud of smoke that would spread throughout the streets feeling the entire area with mist made of his ki. Chaos would possibly recognize this as a technique used and taught by who was meant to someday be his son-in-law. Afterward Joseph pressed forward, trying to press more close range attack.
