Beginner's Aura | Champion 1 wc: 252 / 513"It's like a dream, huh? No wonder why I keep getting these bento boxes, then..." Kakarot said this even as a new Bento Box simply appeared in his hands. It did not emerge with a puff, nor fall from the sky, nor erupt to being like some sort of microcosmic big bang. The box was simply there, stuffed between his hands as though it had always been there. Both disgruntled by the box's intrusion and surprisingly still sated from the first Bento Box, Kakarot drew closer to Gray. "Speakin' of bento boxes, are ya hungry? I think this one's got pork!"
Kakarot, without meaning to, conjured a table in the space between them and set the box down on its surface. The he nudged it towards Gray's side of the table, and then sat in a stool which, like the Bento Box, simply decided that it had always existed in this place. Its base was caked in oysters and brine and algae and seaweed, but its seat was clean and comfortable. A bottle of sake with accompanying accoutrements, including cups and plates and so forth, asserted themselves into the Astral Dream as well. Finally, the Fox Mask worn by Grampa Gohan settled into a position near Kakarot, propped up against a wooden block on an unobtrusive corner of the table. "Dunno what just happened, Mister Long, but it looks like I've got some sake to share with you, too! Oh, and this," Kakarot gestured at the fox mask, "is my Grampa, Gohan!"

Grey smirked a bit as a new bento box appeared in Goku’s hands, a testament of his subconscious desire to always have food. He offered it to the Earl however and Grey considered it, then took it, if only to see how long the Saiyan could go without creating another one.
The table was conjured and the old man took a seat, listening to Goku speak in his roundabout way, only raising an eyebrow as he mentioned a mask was his grandfather. He didn’t recognize it despite Gohan’s once powerful rapport, though that was little surprise since the man didn’t don it until after he was dead. Considering Goku was a Saiyan as well, he wasn’t exactly thinking of an Earthling wearing it anyway.
This Saiyan seemed to be an odd one, but Grey factored that into his upbringing. He wasn’t born of Vegeta-sei, raised to be a mighty Saiyan warrior. He was likely raised by a strange grandfather who decided he liked Earth and thought to raise the man up as an Earthling. Well, maybe not as any Earthling. He didn’t exactly seemed schooled, but he couldn’t really imagine an old Saiyan warrior sending his offspring to kindergarten no matter how much he liked Earth.
”Why have you been being to visit the old turtle hermit?” he asked instead, taking the warm sake and pouring two glasses. If the taste was suitable he would drink it despite it not really having the same effects in the astral realm. If it didn’t, well it would sit.

"'Cause he's s'posed to be one of the strongest guys on Earth," Kakarot noted, "and 'cause, well, he and my grampa were both martial artists, and around the same age... So, I bet they used to train together."
The Wayward Saiyan's head lolled to one side, and his eyes flicked away to gaze towards the horizon. "Guess that's why I've been puttin' it off, too..."
He sat in silence for a spell, and then sat up straight, his expression shifting and giving way to a heretofore rare moment of gravitas. "Do ya know much about us Saiyans, Mister Long? About what happens to us when we see a full moon? I never 'member much, but I saw a recording once... It's kinda eery, isn't it? Turnin' into a big monster, and not havin' any control over yourself? I dunno much about how it... Works... but..."
Kakarot shook his head and grinned. He waited to see how Long would respond, if he pursued the dialog at all, and then folded his arms over his chest.
"Maybe we should spar. I think... I could use a good bout. It's been nothin' but impromptu death matches and duels at high noon since I left Earth, yanno? I haven't sparred with a real, honorable Martial Artist since... Heck, since the 22nd World Martial Arts Tournament! That Jackie Chun guy was crazy tough!"
Kakarot stood and, as though he'd always been wearing it, was now garbed in an unmarked blue Gi. He took a few steps back. "So whaddya say? Can we go a round or two!?"

Grey listened with narrowed eyes at Goku’s early explanation, but his gaze softened when the Saiyan explained his more sentimental reluctance.
”When did he pass?” Grey asked somewhat curious about a humanized Saiyan. Or maybe this man was an adoptee, and his grandfather was actually a human. The Saiyans didn’t really have much presence on Earth, with the Protectorate keeping things as such until the Galactic War got the best of them. A Saiyan raised human was curious. Grey’s experience with them was too militant, the only exception being the scholars.
As Goku went on, Grey leaned towards adoptee and sat back. A lone Saiyan child landing on Earth. Wasn’t that a thing way back when? Sending weak children out into the galaxy to conquer weak planets? Earth certainly leaned towards weak to the uninformed. Roshi was called a hermit for a reason. He wasn’t out bragging to the galaxy of his might.
”I’ve heard as much, but I’ve never actually seen one uncontrolled,” the Earl explained, likely to the other man’s surprise. ”It’s quite inconvenient as you’ve seen, so Saiyans are trained early in life to control it. If they didn’t, Vegeta-sei would be in ruins every month. They weaponize it instead.”
He’d fought a giant ape or two. Chaga had in more recent history where certain jobs as an enforcer put him in Saiyan crossfires. It was quite intimidating, but not as much as a Super Saiyan. Both forms were too moody for Grey.
Goku jumped to the next topic and Grey let out a dry laugh. ”You sure talk a lot, kid.”

"Oh, sorry! It's been a while since I had a living person to talk with," The Wayward Saiyan said. He stretched out his legs one at a time, sinking low until his buttocks floated just above the sand, bobbing his body up and down three times, holding the position, and then reversing his position such that he now stretched out the opposite leg. He repeated this exercise a few times as he spoke. "plus, most've the aliens I've met don't know nothin' 'bout Earth, so even when I meet nice ones, we only talk about local food 'n where the next fueling station is..."
Kakarot stood up again and began stretching out his arms and wrists now, rotating each joint beginning with the glenoid socket and ending with the radiocarpal joint."Anyways... so y'said most Saiyans get trained to control the Moon Monster early, huh? Use it as a weapon... D'ya know much about that? What kinda training they do?"
He waited for the wizened master's response, continuing his stretch routine all the while. When at last he felt satisfied with his routine, Kakarot bent down and removed the pair of boot's he'd manifested earlier, tossing them aside so that he was barefoot once again. He sank into a crouched position and, through the strange and unknowable illogic of time- let alone time in the Astral Realm- his spirit connected with a future iteration of himself. His pale blue aura formed around him, but it flickered with splashes of orange; to a Super Warrior with any hint of seasoning, it was clear Kakarot stood on the precipice of some sort of transformation.
"Thank you for, uh, y'know, humoring my questions," The rustic accent Kakarot spoke with shifted ever so minutely towards a more formal tone; something about Long had tapped the well of Gohan's teachings, drawing them up to the forefront of the Saiyan's mind. "I'd really like to see if you fight like my grampa, though. Y'seem crazy-strong, Mister Grey, since ya talk live you've been to Vegeta's sty!"

”The dead don’t talk much? I’m surprised,” Grey joked with ease. He nodded however about the topic of Earth. He could relate quite well having grown up there. He severed all his ties to the place but every now and then you had a pop culture reference you couldn’t help but be sad no one else understood. There was something pleasant about talking about something so nostalgic, even if it meant so much less to him now.
”Not quite,” Gray replied about the ape transformation. It was somewhat of a trade secret in ways, or maybe just another showing of how xenophobic Saiyans could be. ”I’d imagine training in here would be beneficial however. It’s the core of your mind manifested, and it’s all about keeping your mind active while the beast is. We could practice here if you’d like. I think I still know that moon technique.”
He was confident even with Goku’s showing of power that he could still handle the uncontrolled Oozaru, and the Saiyan did seem itching for a fight. Perhaps that would motivate him more to keep his head. Or he could wreck their nice little beach. Goku had shown a bit of skill in controlling the Astral Realm thus far though. It was possible he would do better here.
Grey stood regardless of his answer.

"Nah," Kakarot said, "I'd rather work on plain ol' Martial Arts today."
The Wayward Saiyan pressed his palms together and bowed. From no discernible place or direction, a gong sounded; from a bird's eye view, the wind churned up a light sand storm which swirled, peculiarly, in perfectly straight lines and turned, with great precision, such that it appeared as a swirling square of sand. All things barring the pair of men inside of the perimeter were as the eye of a storm, totally calm; all things beyond the perimeter remained unchanged.
To any fighter who had been to Earth, the sand storm created a space which occupied the same dimensions as the budokai tenkaichi fighting ring.
"Alright... Here goes nothin'!"
Kakarot opened by sprinting towards Grey; his fingers sparked with an ethereal blue energy, and mere meters before he would collide with the wizened warrior, the Saiyan would let his heels slide out under him such that he slid, as a baseball player to third plate might, through the sand towards Grey's left flank.
A cavalcade of blue strings danced from Kakarot's finger tips; in a single swift movement, the Wayward Saiyan flinged his left arm to his hip; the limb's Ki strings slithered back to and wrapped round his offhand, forming into an opaque, boxing-glove shaped layer of energy.
Kakarot closed in with a right handed jab leveled at Grey's face, and finished with a Serafin hook-punch meant for the old man's kidney.
