Mira VS Juch
Juch — 12/12/2022 8:19 PM
Mira's words seemed to echo on for longer. It was a twist of the strategy--and this was a way to test out two theories at once: the one that they had discussed about the Demon, and the one about the Astral Realm itself. It certainly did respond to stimuli, considering how those that can project their minds into this place are able to manipulate it at their own leisure without much consequence. However, asking it directly would shed some light as to if it would be able to respond to a more cerebral request.
In other words, was it more like a plant that would twist its stem so that its leaves could face the sun better, or did it actually keep track of its occupants and, when needed, provide direction and guidance?
Juch waited. There didn't seem to be much response--at least, immediately. Then slowly, through the trees, the wind began to pick up again. The dead leaves that scattered on the ground began to flutter up into the air as the gust, while not swelling in strength, maintained its presence it curled the leaves up down a particular path in the woods.
"I think we have our answer," Juch said, "Let's see where it leads."
Shell Mira Towa — 12/13/2022 9:53 AM
Mira looked at Juch as the winds seemed to answer the question that he had asked, "I guess you will have some new things to write about with your research after this experience."
Mira took a deep breath, his power calmly condensing, almost hiding itself for a moment, but still available for use if he decided to utilize it again. Considering the power that the demon had showed already, it was very likely that his full power would be needed once again.
Mira did not have a huge need to let his power show. It was mostly an intimidation thing than necessary. Even the power he showed wasn't the full extent. That power, the power that the Grand Priest had shown him how to tap into, that was a power he saw no need to touch just yet. He liked having that backup plan for if things got ugly.
He pointed a finger in the direction of the winds and fired a bolt of energy. In theory the bolt he would fire would continue on, almost like a warning shot if it made it to the target that he was coming. The funny part of the time traveler was that he also welcomed a test of his power, hopefully this shot would make it clear to the demon that he was on his way. This being was not out of danger yet.
Juch — 12/13/2022 10:31 AM
"...evidently so," Juch nodded, his finger curling around his cane. This was certainly a new step in what was considering possible by the current contemporaries. He was going to have to explore this further--but not now.
Now there was something more pressing at hand.
Mira's terrifying aura faded back down, muted. Juch, on the other hand, still maintained his combat readiness. Since Juch's current mode wasn't overworking itself to the point of overdrive, he can still hold on to it with little consequence. And it wasn't as if the two of them didn't stick out like a sore thumb in the vicinity should the Demon can read their distorted powers like Mira did when they first met.
And certainly, that was amplified further by the linger particles of ki that lingered in the trail of Mira's shot. It lit up the path just a little more; it wasn't a large blast by any means. But if the direction was clear, then it should have the effect that the other android should want.
...
A faint rustle, the sound waves marred by the dense cluster of trees and the distance away. Barely audible. But it was there.
Seemed like Mira had gotten his message out there, "...seven hundred meters away, sounds like; give or take," Juch cupped his hand to his ear, listening. His arm pointed outwards, like a compass as he swiveled slowly while the movements ahead became even fainter before stopping, "There. That direction."
Shell Mira Towa — 12/13/2022 10:52 AM
Having a navigation system with him was good. Whatever allowed Juch to function like that was certainly interesting. It felt like his sensors were highly functioning scouter system of some sort. Not one he had to focus on though; at least it seemed that way to Mira, and more of something happening naturally. Maybe it was an upgrade he could have looked into in the future if it was that way, or maybe it was just a trait of the scholar?
The red chaotic aura flared once more, much more contained than it was before as Juch pointed out the location they needed to travel in. They proceeded forward, but as they did the realm seemed to start to struggle with itself.
One moment they were in the forest and another, they were on a tournament like floor in what felt to Mira like the Next Dimension. The scene struggled back and forth as if two competing forces were pushing against one another.
Mira squinted as if it would help the distortion they were experiencing, "You aren't doing this right?" He knew the answer already, but he wanted to confirm what he was thinking.
There was certainly something that was out of control going on here. He looked over at Juch now, "You ever see anything like this before." Suddenly between the shifting locations also flared a place that Mira was familiar with. The North Kai's planet. It only appeared randomly between the distortion, but it was part of the flickering of scenes that he was seeing.
He moved into a defensive stance, his normal calm demeanor thrown off by the craziness going on around him. Either way he wanted to be ready for anything.
Juch — 12/13/2022 11:12 AM
Mira moved on ahead and Juch followed behind. While his arm was lowered to guard against any potential ambushes, he kept his other gloved hand still by his ear, as if it would help him maintain a tight grip on their target's location.
However, only a few steps forward and something strange began to happen. The scene...shifted? An empty stadium. Yellow clouds. Banners of the different Kais waved up above, each trying to advertise how strong their sponsorship would be.
Then back again. The Forest of Illusion seemed twisted this time around. Then flickering back to the stone tiles of the tournament arena.
Like a child discovering animation for the first time by flipping a page back and forth, the scenery shifted between the two at increasingly faster frequencies. The Astral Realm seemed to be more and more unstable.
"Of course I'm not doing this," a small bit of alarm crept into Juch's usually nonchalant tone as he now held a glowing ball of ki in his palm in preparation for any potential danger, "This is the first time I've seen this phenomenon."
And now, a small grassy planet also seemed to be added to the mix. Juch had never been to King Kai's before, so he was unfamiliar with this place, but the winding paths of Snake Way in the distance provided some hints to where this third location was.
It seemed dangerous to stay and also dangerous to move. The scenes flickered faster and faster before finally...
It stopped.
Juch rotated his gaze inch by inch as he looked around. It seemed like the Forest of Illusion was inaccessible for now and they were on the small planet in the end, "...are we in the Next Dimension?" he wondered aloud, looking back to the small house behind them, "I see Snake Way over there, but I only know of that through stories. I've never been here myself before."
Shell Mira Towa — 12/13/2022 11:25 AM
"This is North Kai's planet." Mira said calmly. The car and house gave it away, but also Snake way. Juch seemed to have known of Snake way, but not this planet. Interesting that he knew of one but not the other. Probably something to do with his research. He did seem to be the type that was always on top of things like this.
"The question really is why did it stop here?" Mira asked. He walked closer towards Snake Way. He knew very little of this part of the story between the Paladin Hero and the demon.
The truth was that the first time the two entities met. They had been at the last meeting already and now the first. A battle occurred here as the forces of Hell made an attack on Heaven. They needed to get through North Kai's defenses first though and that is when the demon met the hero. The battle was epic and it was a combination of attacks from the defenders that kept the invasion from succeeding. The hero had faced the demon here, but had only fought him to a draw. Something had happened, a spark of power that had caused the demon to retreat and report what he had learned. The story goes that Lucifer did not believe him and that was beginning of the divide between the two. Truthfully though only a few would actually know that. It was restricted now to only those involved. Not even Mira or Towa's research had revealed any of this.
Mira looked out towards snake way when suddenly before them appeared a massive battle. Angels and demons, hero's and villian's, the forces of good and evil fighting in the space around them. They didn't give off power though, it was as if it was filling in the scene for them of what had happened.
"Ok this is certainly strange." A blast of energy missed and came right at Mira, but before it made it to him it vanished.
He turned back to Juch just in time to see the flames and lightning erupt from seemingly the core of the world. The powerful demon, the former righthand of Lucifer, was back and ready for a fight by the looks of it.
Juch — 12/14/2022 12:10 AM
"North Kai's..." Juch repeated, his words trailing off as he continued to survey his surroundings.
It was a rather quaint place. When one would think of the Kais, perhaps at least some element of splendor or grandeur would creep into one's imagination. After all, they ruled over petty mortals, so their living standards should surely be better, no?
But this place was...well, for a lack of a better word, quaint. Hm. Juch honestly wasn't sure what he was expecting, but it wasn't this, that was for sure.
However, he remained silent as Mira asked the most important question of all: out of the three scenarios presented to them, why was it this one that was chosen? Or perhaps, all of them are related in some way, Juch just didn't know how.
Suddenly, the clash of weaponry, the firing of ki blasts, and the yells of battle charges suddenly emerged from the yellow clouds that Snake Way dangled over. However, it was more like a movie more than anything else, projected in the distance.
"Was there a war that happened here before?" Juch asked aloud before suddenly, the Demon burst through from the ground below. A geyser of lava flowed forth from the hole that the enemy had dug through, and with a wave of his hand, the torrent of molten rock came flowing out towards both Mira and Juch, as if it was a hose that the Demon was simply directing.
The gurgling, bubbling heat was something that had to be dealt with. Juch took a deep breath, as if diving into a swimming pool, before leaping forward. Lowering his own temperature down, a frosty sheen began to condense around the android's core, spreading out all over his body as he shot through the lava spout. It wasn't perfect by any means, but the theory was sound: the longer the contact, the more damage. With the heat evaporating the ice, it formed a small barrier of steam--coupled that with the short amount of time Juch spent in the melted rock, and it shouldn't have been that bad, despite how scary it was.
The Demon was looking at him now, his attention diverted for just a brief moment. After Mira had dealt with the attack as Juch was sure he was able to, he'd have just a smallest window of opportunity to land a good hit onto the distracted villain.
Juch only hoped that it'd be enough. This Demon was a threat that needed to be stopped one way or the other. Out of all the dangerous things that he had faced in the astral realm so far, this was one of the most dangerous.
Shell Mira Towa — 12/14/2022 10:52 AM
The wave of fire was directed at both Mira and Juch. The power of the demon still impressive, but in Miras mind he noted that the demon knew they were here. This was almost an ambush of sorts on them.
It likely meant the demon was the cause of the distortion they had experienced moments earlier. Or at least he was altering whatever it was that the realm was trying to do.
Mira smirked at the flames though. Calmly he walked into them, no care at all or fear of the fire. He was forged in flames before, he was not worried about such things.
Juch had gathered the attention of the demon. It allowed Mira a chance to unleash a combination of his own. He fired a weaker blast of energy first this time. His theory proven to work before and again the demon seemed to fade away from the blast. This time however he was following the blast, a ki infused fist powered with his own flames looked to crash right into the body of the demon.
The powerful foe was hit, the pain shocking to him to start, but he was no weakling. One blow would not defeat him that easily. He swiped the whip around creating the whip, but a surge of energy that radiated out from it. Then he stabbed the blade forward, clearing a path for whatever he had planned to do next.
Mira jumped up avoiding the whip and then had to dodge to the side to avoid the stab from the dagger. He was on the move as well.
That was when the demons energy began to swell. Electricity rippled out harming everything it could as fast as it could. Still this only looked like a build up and not the actual attack. Whatever was coming was certainly going to be much worse for them.
