Mira VS Juch
Juch — 01/05/2023 2:47 PM
A low whistle.
Juch accepted the weapon from Mira's hands, examining it. Fine Damaskian craftsmanship. Sure, one could find something similar on the bazaar nowadays, but a good gun was a good gun. The Damaskians knew their firearms. But now that there was a real item in the realm...
He weighed it in his hands, looking it over. Juch did also pay attention as Mira manifested it in the first place. As of now, the realm didn't make any particular reaction right off the bat. He wondered if that would change later, "I'll pay you back if it is indeed lost forever," Juch offered as he studied the gun.
"So, this is yours," Juch began, holding the shotgun in his left hand; he concentrated and another one appeared, this time in his other hand. Of course, it wasn't the real deal; a conjured item using the powers of the astral realm instead, "And this...is one that I conjured up."
"Hm, not much difference so far," he continued, "Let's continue down this road. If we can find a container to put both of these into, then we'll have a controlled environment."
Shell Mira Towa — 01/06/2023 7:54 AM
Mira watched and Juch created an Astral version of his Shotgun. Not at all worried because he had a much better version in his weapon supply the Android shrugged at the notion he would need to be paid back. It was not Mira's style to use items that were not as good as others he had.
"Sounds like a good enough test." He replied before the two continued down the road.
A few minutes later of idle chit-chat they came to an area with what looked like an abandoned farm near it. He glanced over seeing a supply barrel, "That barrel should do the trick."
Juch — 01/06/2023 11:03 AM
Upon Mira's agreement, they continued forward. The road stretched along for a good while, in a straight line as the environment gradually added little bits and pieces here and there. The animals were still there; at this point, there must have been hundreds, if not thousands, of livestock just lounging around underneath the night sky at this point.
Then a hay bale. Those started appearing not soon after as the number of passive animals grew lower and lower as they continued to chat. Before finally, they reached what looked like to be a farm. Except there seemed to be no one there; and it looked like it was in disrepair, "I don't recognize this place," Juch noted as he placed the two shotguns into the supply barrel, "But this is an easy way to remember this location. After a while, if we leave, we can come back later to see if anything has changed."
Covering the barrel up again, he dusted his hands off and stepped back, "I wonder why the realm brought us here. Shall we inspect this farm further?"
Shell Mira Towa — 01/06/2023 11:25 AM
The entire scene that they had stumbled on was rather intriguing. Maybe it had meant more or maybe it was just a random scene, but the overwhelming number of animals around here that still managed to survive on this land in the Astral Realm seemed rather unique.
"All this livestock and yet the animals seem to be doing well. No one around to care for them and they are still thriving." Mira said taking in the scenery as Juch hid the shotguns away.
Then he asked a simple question, why?
Mira's senses immediately kicked in as this scene did seem to make the travels work, but also did not completely make sense. Was it a lesson or just a part of the realm overgrown over a long period of time?
"Is this meant to show us what happens without interference or maybe just to show that even this realm can develop progress overtime just as any planet can?"
Juch — 01/06/2023 12:10 PM
It was an astute observation that Mira had made. Was this perhaps what the astral realm was trying to show them? After all, it was clear that the farm itself had been in a state of disrepair. While at the beginning there were wagons roaming about, by the time they passed the hills and into the fields, none of those were in sight anymore.
He thought about those wagons once more. The night was dark and moonless, the only light coming from the countless wagons traveling through the rolling hills. The wheels creaked and groaned as they made their way over the rough terrain, the horses' hooves pounding a steady rhythm on the ground.
The air was cool and crisp, the scent of pine and earth heavy in the air. The wagons were filled to the brim with people and their possessions, all of them seeking a better life in the west.
The hills seemed to go on forever, rising and falling like waves on the ocean. But the travelers pushed on, their determination fueling them through the long and weary night. Just where were they traveling to? Would they even reach their destination? Was this also a metaphor that the realm was trying to tell them?
Perhaps after all this was finished, finally then may night turn to day; just as the first rays of sunlight began to peek over the horizon, the wagons would be crested the top of a hill and then descend into a valley below. The sight that would greet them was one of endless fields and rolling meadows, a place of endless possibility and promise where thousands of livestock would roam. And with a sense of hope and excitement, the travelers set out to build their new lives in this land of endless opportunity and maybe turn this farmstead into one part of a thriving community once again.
Or perhaps, they would never get to the fields and the night would last forever here. Which one would it be? Would he see them before they get disconnected or transported to another place?
And even if there were wagons, Juch never got a close look at them in the first place. Who would say that there had to be people in the vehicles to begin with and it wasn't just the horses pulling the wagons and whatever contents there were inside?
"While we can't tell whether this was intentional, if this place had been growing for a while now--even after it was abandoned by a previous traveler to the astral realm--then we may have something here," Juch nodded as he looked up at the decaying barn and rusted silo, before turning his attention to the homestead, "Let's go look into there then; if there are any clues, most likely it'd be in there."
Shell Mira Towa — Yesterday at 7:40 AM
They had a homestead in the area. The location had been seemingly abandoned, but still considering the research Juch was doing and the interest it had created with Mira had made him at least willing to continue on the path of researcher.
"I'm not the best researcher, but I'll say that I'm good muscle. Research is clearly more of Towa's field of expertise." Mira was in no way stupid and yet he was more than capable of helping with these things. Towa had made sure of that.
They walked towards the home and as they did the weather started the change slightly. Not a huge storm, but clouds moves in and rain started to fall.
Was it another sign or was it just coincidence? They didn't know, but the only way to find out was to push forward and find out.
Juch — Yesterday at 11:15 AM
"You've been asking some important questions," Juch chuckled as the two of them made their way to the house adjacent to the barn, "Even if you aren't the best researcher, I certainly say you are a pretty good one."
Raindrops began to fall as they approached. There seemed to be an electric fence that guarded the livestock from any intruders--but there didn't seem to be any power flowing through it, and there was a gaping large hole in the side of the structure. Fortunately it's not in the way of their objective.
Other than that, there was just a small wooden fence that stood over watch the actual residency. Despite the state of disrepair, there weren't any noticeable damage done to it; just the blemishes from the sun and the paint peeling off.
Abandoned, but not on the verge of collapsing.
Juch raised his cane up into the air, a shimmering glowing veil of ki blasting out from the tip of it; the thin energies acting as an umbrella of sorts, it blocked any additional rain from getting on himself and Mira. Reaching the door, after stepping onto the porch, the Scholar gave it a light push. It was unlocked.
A creaking sound echoed over the rain as it slowly swung open.
The rain only grew in intensity from the outside just a few steps away, the drops going from a light drizzle to something so heavy they sounded like drums on the roof of the old farmhouse. Water dripped from the eaves and gurgled through the gutters, pooling in puddles on the ground. The fields around the farm were overgrown and wild, the crops long since withered and died. But the animals seemed to have continued to thrive. The rain washed over the neglected land, the drops mixing with the tears of the abandoned farm's past. What past was there? Well, it seemed like that was something that the two of them may just be able to uncover. Hopefully. The astral realm can be real stingy with its answers, if it gives out any at all. And the ones that it would normally provide were vague and sometimes downright incomprehensible.
Shell Mira Towa — Yesterday at 6:36 PM
Juch blocked off the rain using his cane. It was a kind gesture, but Mira had little concern of getting wet. Still he understood the act and nodded in appreciation.
As they got to the door, the scholar first checked to see if it was locked before pushing it open. The screeching noise made it clear that no one had been here in quiet some time. Maybe even ever. Mira wondered since this was the Astral Realm if the place was just created as a backdrop for someone to fight, but was not fully thought out.
Mira had experienced many people that just fought in vague backgrounds. Considering his theory was that these places were just created by the minds of mortals and then left alone. They ended up seemingly staying though. Growing and developing just as this plot of land had.
"An abandoned house that's unlocked. Clearly if they did not lock it, they did not care when they left." Mira knew another option existed as well, "That or they didn't have a choice. It's possible that we see signs of a struggle inside."
He stepped in flipped a light switch, but nothing came on. As that happened he flares his Aura to provide light to the room. It was time to investigate.
