Would rather the temples follow the same template as the minor ones we just added, but make it a V.Hard or Epic quest to take. Just let the Rods be rares that have their abilities and cut the gate keeping out altogether.

Why not make Noob Zekka Gauntlets, Noob Z Sword while we are at it...
Many people outside the top 25 have used the major temples in the past.

Honestly, we have Mirror Mirage in donation items to legit do what you’re talking about giving a n00b any limited donation item. I would not mind having that for rares.
That being said, I think if temples are dependent on the Inferno Rod there should be an easier way for newer people to get it. I also think if you don’t equip the Inferno Rod you should be allowed to own it even if one of your other souls have a rare. We’ve gone for 9 years of alliances having it and having the right to decide who gets it (which has fucked or almost fucked me over twice). Even if I have control over it now and will lend it to anyone fairly cheap for sneak risks, I really shouldn’t be able to gate keep it at all, but will, to stop someone else from doing it.
Inferno Rod and Ice staff are both REALLY good staves people don’t utilize cuz its needed for the temples. I am 100% on board with Aria’s idea of just making the temples questable. Then we don’t need a n00b rod.

Can others chime in. Noob rod, or changing the inferno rod to be a limited rare weapon, which may cause changes accordingly to the items effects?
If the latter happens, we would probably only have one.

I think that the only thing that needs to be changed is letting go of the requirement of the Fire and Ice Temple needing the rods for entry. I don't think the items themselves need any kind of change (outside of certain crit levels but that is a different story and for another thread).
But the Temples just need an Epic quest for entry, so everyone has a choice and do not need to depend on a rare to get cool abilities.

I think we would want to potentially increase their effects/stats to be on par with other similar weapons. I’m not looking at it so idk if it needs it. Just saying from a process POV. We’re taking value away from an item so if it was balanced with that in mind as part of its power budget it’d normally need a lil boosty boost.

We should still have two rods, because the Ice one does the same thing, just from a different temple. I think you also have to do a quest to change it. I could be wrong.
I'm fine with opening the two major temples up to anyone, and making the quests harder (to V. Hard). Most people prewrite these days anyway lol
There's also the idea to just have an Inferno Rod and Ice Staff as two separate items and not need to quest to transform the fire to ice. Though that takes away a quest.
