The Official I Will Be Away Thread

I'm quitting.

Don't exactly have a dramatic speech for it either. It's just not fun for me to put the effort forth for this anymore.

Just leaving a back door in the Away thread in case I end up finding a want to roleplay for fun on here again. Not the way things are right now though.

Work is pulling a lot of time for me again--holidays are usually super busy for me. I will likely be back in a few weeks! Thank you!

Okay, so I thought long and hard about this, but I think my time has come. I just don't enjoy my time on the site like I used to, not for a long while, and when you're on a website that's all about battling--and you have absolutely 0 fun doing said battling--then it's high time to find a new place to spend downtime. I was never a fan of the battle system on the site to begin with, and with some of the proposed changes, I don't think I'll have fun with it after the changes, either. You can only have so much fun on the site doing mindless updates (regardless of the project you're working on) and doing the occasional thread before it just feels like you're pushing your own windmill.

It doesn't really matter what I build, buy, or create on this site if no one is interested in it--it doesn't really matter if I make 1 or 100 planets, and in the end, that's not really what this site is about after all. It was a nice ride while it lasted, but ultimately, I don't think the site offers what I'm looking for, nor does the battle system really fill me with any sense of joy or excitement. I knew that from my very first battle as Rubic, so its not exactly a 'new' issue that's come up, but a culmination of things that just don't jive with me or my immediate interests. You can only treat the site as a 'Civilization' game for so long before you realize the site isn't about that--its about combat. If you can't enjoy the combat side of the game, then what are you even doing?

So for the last time, I'm going to bid everyone adieu. I hope everyone does well with what's to come, and I hope things turn out for the best, but I think this is my last stop on this train. Take care everyone, I'm off to find something that does fit my tastes. Not sure what form it will take, or where I'll end up, but I'll remember my time here fondly.

After the events of the last few days I've taken a hard look at where my priorities are. My family, work and my health. When something you've loved to do no longer seems fun or rewarding its time to stop looking in the mirror and making excuses to stick around. I've enjoyed the last 4 years here and I've enjoyed being able to interact with the player base and my role on staff. But with all that said I am officially retiring from ADBZ. I may stop in from time to time to see what's up and chat but this is the end of the road for me. Keep in touch everybody and I wish you well.
