Well, this took a hell of a time to think up and I am not completely confident half of these will be workable but this is why I take this in the pub to discuss with other Paladin/protectorate renovators.

Some influential sorts in high office, their supporting megacorps, and maybe one or two complacent paladins dont much care for you and set up a bit of a surprise assassination-themed celebration in your honor. Can you turn the tables on them or will this celebration mark a potential end for the transitioning period?

Description: A contest had been announced for the up and coming knights and templars interested. the future of the paladin order reborn will depend on the knights and templar of today that will be the Generals and masters of tomorrow.
A gathering of those rambunctious tuned up star wolfs are raiding a supply cache, problem= they are outnumbering the defenses/automated defense 100 to 1 but... while a few pictures ARE the new star wolves it is clear the others are just for fodder meat shield mercenaries with crudely painted star wolf marks
Still, such numbers of rabble too dangerously near to use heavy ki attacks.... why not host a contest who can take out more? the meet shield grunts are worth 1 point the leaders of them 2-4 depending on rank and pl a genuine star wolf is worth 5-50 depending on how wanted they are, and the auto champ of the battle is the one who can bring down the captain manning this invasion, a cyborg with grizzly clawed weapons and a wolf modeled helmet.
Beware he has the criminal status K-O-S the death sentence in 12 systems, a factoid he will keep you posted on at any chance.

Resource gathering? setting up a farming biodome? mining for water in comments? hunting fugitives? Your business is your own one thing quickly becomes clear, however! well, 2 things one, your organization is not the only one interested in this corner of space and 2 your reputation reached them.
if your journeymen, your small potatoes, they will just send a few skilled but weak assassins to deal with you
knight tier? making some ripples they see, decide they may go and mess with your function in the star system, killing off your barracks companions, setting fire to the biodome attacking the ice miner, or ore miner.
Captain tier? more of the former two but with a private army of highly trained and outfitted thugs several with really nice bounties on their heads.
you may be asking "Who are they? that's a very good question. Saiyans that did not get the memo that Avalon and their king had had peace talks and negotiations going still? PTO because they view your orders protecting the sovereignty of other worlds from their rule? The wolves for the price on your head? Shadow guard for their K-O-S polocy many field agents have with paladins and members of the protectorate? space bandits? random mobsters? who can say? (apart from the defeated if you capture them and prevent their suicides to evade talking)

Betray the paladins taking up the corrupted tool if a weapon gains blood curse in place of the souls special may either self-harm or call on the blood shed by your enemy If you cut yourself do 5% health damage to self once per battle for a 1dr undodgeable and armor piercing blood arrow lasting 1 round and doing .2 damage every move beyond cast barrage piercing. if the curse was made of the blood of the foe do DR 1 but guaranty poison as you curse their very blood. or if gauntlet substitute special for blood rage do 2d damage to self for a 3 round boost 20% toughness 40% speed but must use martial combat for three turns as the mind is lost in ravaging desire to rip the target limb from limb.

If you're an Android or indicate you have sympathies they offer you the power to let them kill off %21 %43 of the organic population of the capital city off in the test firing
You do however have to consider the long game here tho, the improved paladin armory/R&D will have comparable quality wears to that old tech, no doubt R&D of Avalon of all places will far from leave androids wanting for upgrades, but they will attempt to convince you to let them, and if you ever wanted to strike out defiantly against the organics whom many still harbor ill views since the war of you, go on, let-them-die.

if sided with the bots to commit mass murder of the capital city. chose 2 or3 for androids war items
the trade-off you alignment wise become no consequence to Kill On Sight. and permanently expelled from paladins, not even a wish could get you back, you committed or at least permitted wholesale mass murder by android terrorists.

iIf humans learned of it they would strive to master it. if they strove to master it the likes of CC was there with open doors to build their future with.
Turns out someone intends to revive or replace RR.... again. A shock that they are not taking ethical concerns very seriously and their caution devoid exploitation of the resources of the earth is causing an uptick in volcanic activities.
perfect opportunity for Neotech to reinforce why the CC and the Avalonian R&D division once had a relationship even some of the pure secular naturalist would poetically excuse themselves from using the dramatic term Magical.
But you can enjoy the reunion of lost lovers later, you have a thermal energy plant to decommission before it triggers a largely unknown supervolcano and complicates matters on earth.... oh and...kill millions of aliens, humans, androids, saiyans,ect in a horrific pyroclastic flow followed by volcanic winter.
Just gotta get by a small private mercenary army, a few dozen restored and updated Warmachines, a deranged nihilistic doctor, and his rich colleague that responds to attempts of reason with "NO *YOU* HAVE NO IDEA WHAT *YOU'RE*DOING!"

spies from PTO have been detected, one fly on the wall deserves another.
you're low enough on the ladder to slip under the radar.
in theory. unfortunately, a theory is a flimsy word and concept as an enforcer has taken notice and they are asking leading as well as prying question, they smile as you answer growing suspicions.
They advise you to come with them a while, that they have plans for a party for sir frost, see they had studied earth history and found quite fascinating toys in the age of inquisition, surely if your a paladin as they suspect, they suspect you will...appreciate the homage to that age your going to die as.
as they walk you to your fate they say things like maybe dip you in boiling water and boil you alive in oil tar and feather you. peel your fingernails and toenails off, maybe they will put you on the torture rack, classic, maybe tie you to the wheel and 'mercifully'crush you to death. or maybe since paladins love their plate armor a quick trip to the iron maiden will be good.
of course, the above conversation need not happen, a quick sudden beat down/breaking of the neck or stabbing repeatedly can solve the problem enforcer.
maybe to prove dexterity of your escape artist tracks you can have yourself bound by them and go with them break out on the way there,
Or maybe you let them drag you before Frost.... and humiliate a squad of enforcers and brutes in front of him. advised only for those higher than 100,000 pl

Saiyans? they may be ethically more than a bit questionable in the eyes of the order's majority but they have sent ambassadors over, there can be interactions.
Star wolves? they can be made momentary allies or simply made to go away with a bit of cash, Avalon was a resource and tech-rich always has been since it took a notable stage in the galaxy and set that in stone with the creation of the protectorate.
PTO? most paladins would not piss on an enforcer if they were burning to death. BUT the rare reformist cat surface and take to their duties as caretaker of the world enough to warrant a slow woefully robed of enthusiasm golf clap
the three most problem stricken organizations that the paladin order contends with routinely but none of them! Not-a-one. Has driven the sheer darkest parts of the order to surface as has the shadow guard.
Tech that would not nearly have been made prevalent had it been Avalon to exclusive the energy rifle prototype and by extension all other beam and plasma rifles that would come down the pipeline. Refractive technology Avalon perfected decades before taken from them. the blue moon that Avalonian and Damaskian scientist come together, and they knew each other personally, not a single friendship was maintained between them Avalonian R&D regarding Damaskian R&D thieves and scoundrels Damaskian R&D regarding Avalons best and brightest as unmistakenly brilliant in the sciences but they met kindergarten Saiyans more business savvy.
So yeah that was just one way the families of Avalon and Damask disowning got on like a mountain-sized asteroid crashing into a dense forestry planet. and continues getting along like a house on fire from the point of view of the once beautiful house now burning away to unidentifiable mushy slag.
But once in a blue moon has finally arrived. a neo paladin has come to the table with Damaskia to attempt peace talks.
Naturally, the first thing the higher ups did was pencil this higher up in the order for a psyche evaluation, which defying all odds they passed.
You are called on to provide bodyguard with your fellow captain tier paladins one of the knights under you, an older ome seems very nervous and is cradling a suspicious looking carry-on package "First sign of trouble I use it... it will finally be over...no more no more Damaskian capital city, no more shadow guard, no more conflict." they mutter under their breath.
You get a horrible horrible feeling about how negotiations may go. this person had the potential to be a captain like you and high in the R&D team and they just muttered about something with the capacity to level the Damaskian capital.

You though one way or another averted a galaxy reshaping catastrophy (relationship with Damaskia, notwithstanding) even if Damaskia NEVER returns Avalons calls again after one of the knights decided to try and set off a fusion power augmented anti-fucking-matter bomb in the capital city at least civilian casualties were kept....as low as open firefights in the street could hope to be kept to.
Now? where to go from here? Do you press forward as the protectorate bringing new exciting technology to earth, a scared world whose inhabitants put their faith in your order only to have it betrayed?
Do you opt to reinforce the presence of the order at the gates to demon worlds in order to try and at least protect the people from being worn as some nightmare from hell's skin suit?
What all will you do to prove you deserve a shot at the coveted highest point of the paladin order?

Ok I have spent the majority of the night coming up with these ideas. I know my style of idea forming is touch and go and largely not capable of being applied perhaps too strange to be refined or largely just a simple thing that can be RPed that I think will be a neat concept. I, however, hope with the aids of fellow paladin shapers to refine the order for the new modern take on the organizations and their more advanced rank systems and unique cool rewards.

A gathering of those rambunctious tuned up star wolfs are raiding a supply cache, problem= they are outnumbering the defenses/automated defense 100 to 1 but... while a few pictures ARE the new star wolves it is clear the others are just for fodder meat shield mercenaries with crudely painted star wolf marks
Still, such numbers of rabble too dangerously near to use heavy ki attacks.... why not host a contest who can take out more? the meet shield grunts are worth 1 point the leaders of them 2-4 depending on rank and pl a genuine star wolf is worth 5-50 depending on how wanted they are, and the auto champ of the battle is the one who can bring down the captain manning this invasion, a cyborg with grizzly clawed weapons and a wolf modeled helmet.

PTO? most paladins would not piss on an enforcer if they were burning to death. BUT the rare reformist cat surface and take to their duties as caretaker of the world enough to warrant a slow woefully robed of enthusiasm golf clap
the three most problem stricken organizations that the paladin order contends with routinely but none of them! Not-a-one. Has driven the sheer darkest parts of the order to surface as has the shadow guard.
Tech that would not nearly have been made prevalent had it been Avalon to exclusive the energy rifle prototype and by extension all other beam and plasma rifles that would come down the pipeline. So yeah that was just one way the families of Avalon and Damask disowning got on like a mountain-sized asteroid crashing into a dense forestry planet. and continues getting along like a house on fire from the point of view of the once beautiful house now burning away to unidentifiable mushy slag.
But once in a blue moon has finally arrived. a neo paladin has come to the table with Damaskia to attempt peace talks.
Naturally, the first thing the higher ups did was pencil this higher up in the order for a psyche evaluation, which defying all odds they passed.
You are called on to provide bodyguard with your fellow captain tier paladins one of the knights under you, an older ome seems very nervous and is cradling a suspicious looking carry-on package "First sign of trouble I use it... it will finally be over...no more no more Damaskian capital city, no more shadow guard, no more conflict." they mutter under their breath.
You get a horrible horrible feeling about how negotiations may go. this person had the potential to be a captain like you and high in the R&D team and they just muttered about something with the capacity to level the Damaskian capital.
Reward: Very Hard: +1,200 zeni, +7 DP, +2 SP, +100 all stats, +7 RPC
Bonus: +5,000 exp and charisma if the negotiations go swimmingly
+1,000 all stats if you survive ope warfare on the streets of the capital

Now? where to go from here? Do you press forward as the protectorate bringing new exciting technology to earth, a scared world whose inhabitants put their faith in your order only to have it betrayed?
Do you opt to reinforce the presence of the order at the gates to demon worlds in order to try and at least protect the people from being worn as some nightmare from hell's skin suit?
What all will you do to prove you deserve a shot at the coveted highest point of the paladin order?
Because above all else remember the value of sentient life and freedom. not the neutralizing of enemies (Saiyans) not the amassing of secrets (Scholars) the honing of unique gifts (Saljuk) Lording your ambitions over others (PTO) Servitude to some shadowy council or politicians (Shadowguard) Its-not-all-about-you! (Star wolf)
Look to your neighbor, look to their neighbor and theirs and theirs. protection of basic rights and functions, life, liberty, and an ever pursuit of a brighter tomorrow. That is the strength of not only the paladins but the very soul enshrined in every sort that is prepared to put I am of the protectorate by their names
Or. you know.... make something far-reaching and poetic like that. or don't hire someone else to write a rousing speech while you be the example to rally behind.

after your strength of will is tested your strength of emotion is tested.
You then go into a simulation against an AI to test your adaptability in combat.
After all this you are evaluated, your deeds, your successes, and failures weighed against you brought to judgment
Paragon is a title few can be given or earned, only five have ever borne.
but you may aspire for that role one day you are intent to prove you are General/ master this day

Ok I have spent the majority of the night coming up with these ideas. I know my style of idea forming is touch and go and largely not capable of being applied perhaps too strange to be refined or largely just a simple thing that can be RPed that I think will be a neat concept. I, however, hope with the aids of fellow paladin shapers to refine the order for the new modern take on the organizations and their more advanced rank systems and unique cool rewards.
these are not the last of my ideas for the paladins but it is 6 AM for me and I need to call it a night. Hope these ideas are decent.
